I would not recommend Uhaul to a friend. I called the 1-800 in advanced to set up the correct size of storage unit we'd need for all our stuff. When we arrived the person working said this location didn't have the size storage we signed up for. We ended up having to pay more and get two units. Poor communication within the company, if we would've know this before arriving I could've arranged storage at another location.

Truck smelled of cigarettes. I am yet to rent a u-haul where the cargo area does not smell like feces. It looked clean but it can't be clean if it smells. Truck only had 7,400 miles but felt older. The center itself was okay but u-haul has close to a monopoly in the moving truck rental market and shows they don't really care because what options do we have?

Clearly state what kind of gas the vehicle takes near the gas tank. I had to hunt for the type of gas even though I read somewhere on the info given to me that it was near the gas tank. I think I ended up finding it on the driver's side sun block flap thing.

They promised me 24 moving blankets but only got 22. But overall the price is too much higher that other ( I am comparing to PODS and PackRat). Overall , the size is too small to fit any of my furniture so I just load small itmes and boxes in it. I will never consider Ubox for my future moving because of it's size and Price of course.

Take the per diem price off the units and put the price per mile on. I felt ripped off having to pay for miles to go to the gas station to replace what I used; I paid 2.09 a gallon you would have charged 5...and at .70 per mile??? Really? Truckers don't get that mileage rate!

Wow!!! Where do I begin? The container was supposed to be here by a Friday and delivered to me on a Saturday. As of that Friday eve, I had not received a call about my delivery so I called and they told me it had not arrived yet however they scheduled me for delivery the following wed. Again never heard from the company the night before so I ed that evening to find out they lied and it had not arrived yet but they would call me when it had. When I finally get a call, they tell me it would be several weeks before I could get a sat delivery that I booked weeks in advance so I had to take a weekday delivery. Clearly there is zero regard for the fact that I moved here and I don't know anyone, but please keep moving around my dates. The day of the delivery, someone called and wanted to schedule a drop off and return date when I had already spoke to someone the night before and the box was supposed to be delivered that day. When the driver finally arrives, they know nothing and want to schedule a pickup date. I feel horrible for the people who work in Custer service here. They must get yelled out on a daily due to the complete breakdown in communication with this company. I have never been so annoyed and you were supposed to issue me a $250 credit over a week ago and I still haven't seen it.

I think instructions for teturning a truck after hours is complicated online. I was unable to do it, called uhaul at 12:30 AM and was told I could leave the truck and keys as directedbut would not be closed out til uhaul opened. It seemed a bit risky but turned out ok.

I reserved and checked-in online so when I arrived at the rental location it was practically good to go. I decided I wouldn't be driving as many miles as I originally estimated and the agent quickly changed it for me. Truck was perfect for my needs and the return process was so easy. Uhaul Customer service at Westland mi location got me out of a jam late in evening on a Saturday after Penske left me stranded when Penske/Home Depot did not deliver on a confirmed digital reservation. Uhaul Ann Arbor staff was fast, gave me a clean vehicle and got me on my way. Thank you.

Charged credit card when first free month was free. No one answers the phone after 20 minute hold. Tried again, hold for 25 minutes then routed to corporate answering service. They claim some random reason why the Uhaul website was wrong for the free month. They got through to the office in minutes. I was promised a reversal of charges. The original charge to card was not canceled. It went through. Received email of credit, but it hasn't hit my credit card. This free month seems like such a sham. Traveling out of state having bogus charges on my card is bad business and inconvenient during economic mayhem due to the virus. I'm disgusted.

I am not the type of person that normally gives reviews let alone bad reviews just to complain but the initial renting of the U-Haul was great and even when I went to pick the 26 ft u-Haul box truck up everything went smoothly. I explain to them that I was using this more for storage due to a mold issue and flood in our home. We were unable to find/locate a pod or a U box big enough we felt comfortable enough having one in our driveway because of the neighborhood we live in we thought it would be too easy for someone to break into. With that being said when I misunderstood what day I was supposed to bring the truck back and due to delays with our house mold repair company I received a call from Alexandria the girl that works at the State Street location telling me that I “need” to bring the truck back right away as I was supposed to have it back there at 10am. I apologized and explained to her that it was not possible that truck was parked out front of my home still filled with all of mine and my girlfriend's belongings in it and that I was gonna be needing to extend the rental buy at least a few more days and that's when I started receiving an Immature attitude from Alexandria saying that that was not possible she told me “whatever” a few times and basically treated me as I was the scum of the earth and that regardless I had to have it back the following morning because they had a reservation for the specific truck the following day. After I requested to speak with manager Austin Brown she explained to me that he was not there and that she was the only one there working at the moment so there was nothing nor no one else I could speak with besides her. I then asked her if she could please have Austin Brown (the manager) call me as soon as possible. By 6 o'clock that evening I still had yet to receive a phone call from anyone so I called up to the State Street Ann Arbor U-Haul location where I got my rental truck from and was still unable to speak with Austin Brown. I then was able to speak with a different Uhaul representative that made me aware that I was charged $86 and that the truck is not due back until the Friday which would've been the two days that I requested with Alexandria. So she told me that it was not possible to rent it/extend my contract for 2 more days yet she went ahead and did that and charged my acount without notifying me nor asking ! I have made a customer concern/complaint file with Uhaul and they said that I would be contacted by the manager from the store Austin Brown which I have yet to hear from. I do currently and have for a long time worked in the customer service industry and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had and the way I was talk to buy Alexandria was inappropriate,unprofessional and immature to someone that never gave her a reason to be especially to a paying customer. I really hope this is not how a lot of other U-Haul guests are getting treated because this whole experience I've had unfortunately has most likely been my last and will definitely warn others from having the same thing happen to them ! P.s. not sure if it was the age of the truck that had anything to do with it or just a old worn out tire which it looks like but during the course of me using it and it sitting out front of my house for the majority of the time I head to the left front tire went almost completely flat with only 11 psi when it holds 110 psi. I aired it up myself before returning it obviously but it just happened to be the icing on the cake with the whole horrible service and experience I had with Uhaul !

I was having such a bad day, literally so stressed out. I needed a small moving truck but the place I rented from, rented out all the trucks, than told me there were none available anywhere , so I left and drove up in the Ann Arbor / State st location. When I walked in , I was immediately greeted by the friendliest gentleman ever, Brandon Mallory. He went above and beyond to make sure I had the right truck, and assured me that I didn't need to stress out about anything. He was so helpful, so caring, so kind and so professional! What a great associate he is! Omg, I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for Brandon. I can't thank him enough for helping me. I hope that U Haul recognizes what an amazing representative he is for U Haul. Thank you 🙏🏻 so much for having such an amazing person, Brandon M. Your remote pickup was disappointing. I have your app on my phone. You send a verification code. I have to leave your app to get the code. When I try to go back into the verification page on your app I can't. I have to sign in again and again you send me a verification code - the cycle continues. I fudged the second time and used the first code. When verifying the equipment I got kicked out again. After spending almost a half hour on the merry-go-round I gave up and went inside.

When I asked about leaving the truck after hours, it was not explained to me there would be a $20 service charge. While I now see it in the contract, it should also have been explained to me when I picked up the truck. The $20 is a ripoff. I'd have to really reconsider using Uhaul in the future. Best, Freddy

Dear Austin Brown, I've had half a dozen excellent experiences w State St. Uhaul renting vehicles/trailers over the years (at least one of them directly with you), so when I needed storage space, it was a no-brainer, but I was sadly disappointed in the service I got. I reserved a 10x15 space online, and went to get access to it the following week (Tue Aug 4), Michael Fender was rude and exasperated to start, and let me know that the website's listed hours of access were wrong, requiring me to pay $10/mo more; and though it's not listed anywhere on the website, I had to provide or buy a discus-style lock. So far, not great, but workable. Then, my access card didn't work, and when I went back to the front to get it re-programmed, exasperation and rudeness increased. Then, when I finally got to the unit, there was a lock on it. After visually confirming, we went back to the front desk, and Michael searched for another 10x15 unit, but there were only 10x10 (too small for my needs) and 10x20 (too expensive for my budget). He was willing to waive the 24-hour access fee, and give me the lock for free, but I was only going to keep 24-hour access for a month anyway, so that didn't nearly make me whole for the difference of the price of the 10x15 and the 10x20. His only solution at that point was to direct me to the next available 10x15 unit *in Westland* which didn't work for that day (i needed to be somewhere *with my vehicle emptied* in 20 minutes), nor did it work for me in the long-run, being 25 minutes each way too far from my home base. I was understandably frustrated and rather than listen to my frustration, and acknowledge that, he sharply told me that he would not adjust the price to fit my needs, nor could the manager. As someone who manages people myself, and has had to deal with corporate bureaucracy, *I* would want the opportunity to address a repeat-customer's frustration myself, rather than risk losing their referrals and business forever, having been dismissed rudely by a front line worker. There was a line of 7 people and one worker, who do to policies such as requiring a visual check when someone vacates their unit, meant this worker had to walk all over the property as he was helping customers. I got frustrated because the alarm in my unit kept going off even though I clocked in and out. It was frustrating and no one could fix it. Eventually on my last day there it stopped going off.

Boxes expected on June 8 finally arrived on July 11. Apparently the only truck in Michgan broke down twice. IThe unpacking crew had a truck - it broke down twice. I was charged extra for the storage

Staff member did not know how to close out, slowing the process. I moved out 7 days prior to the mo. end & told there was no prorate. Bad business not to refund when I paid a full month in advance.

I would recommend a ramp for the indoor storage so a person could move the cart up to where the storage unit is. If my son had not been with me, I couldn't have accomplished my task.
