I made a reservation, and when I arrived the unit I had reserved was occupied. I was then upsold to a more expensive unit. I requested that because this was a mistake that was made by U-Haul that the price of my original reservation should be honored. The attendant said he would speak to his manager but I never heard anything back. When my bill came due after a month it was clear that I was not accommodated for the inconvenience of my reservation not being honored. I would not recommend this facility as it seems that they upsell people rather than honor reservations.

Unfortunately I was given a very dirty uhaul that smelled like cigarettes, the interior was filthy and the steering wheel was greasy and the worst part was that I had brought my kids with me and had to put them in a vehicle that was in that shape. We were going to pick up couches from Baileys furniture and we had to roll the windows down because of the smell. The person helping us was very friendly and apologized but if I had known the condition of the van I would have reserved another one at a different location.

Interaction with the employees, excellent. They were friendly, efficient and helpful. However, the original truck had a broken lock on the rear door and we had to switch trucks. The second truck had a "service tire monitoring system" light. The nationwide computer system was down and the employees did the best they could under those conditions but it still took an hour to get our vehicle. I would still return to this location but I would hope for better results next time.

Gave wrong key. Had to walk and look at every vehicle on the lot to find out that the truck wasn’t there. Re did paperwork do the new truck number matched paperwork and key…. Truck cold almost empty. Guy was difficult to understand. Dropping the vehicle off was smooth the lady I dealt with was professional easy to deal with through. The lady probably needs a raise.

Funny story i rented a car transport trailer to tow my broken vehicle ti my shop and the staff was friendly enough and my visit dit not take long. I drove to where the vehicle was located and although the vehicle was not drivable i was able to get it onto the trailer on its own power, at which point i found i was trapped i could bot open the door because the wheel well of the trailer was in the way so naturally i did the only logical for a 270 lb 6 foot man to do i climbed out the sun roof of ny compact car on the side of a very busy highway. I hope someone who saw got a good laugh i know my wife did. My recommendation would be a thorough walkthrough of the features of rentals i was informed upon reaching the shop that the wheel wells fold down which fortunately made unloading very easy and made climbing in through the sunroof unnecessary. The employee also told me i was all set to leave with the trailer but the landing gear was still down and when i started raising it said o ya thats a good idea. Anyway i hope whoever reads these also got a laugh and i hope the feedback helps

The front parking/loading/return outside area is horrible. The ice heaves and humps are dangerous to walk across. I know it’s been a difficult winter but I also know that area could be better maintained.

When I went to return the trailer I pulled up to the lane for return equipment. An employee came up behind me in a uhaul truck blowing the horn. He started walking up to my vehicle telling me to move. I moved my vehicle and started walking in and another employee told me just put it where I go it and she would check it in. I told the guy that was driving the truck how rude he was and he just shrugged his shoulders. Walked in to get the managers card and was told he didn't have cards and he never answers calls even from his employees.

Rude front desk person and also the equipment was very dirty. I asked an employee to look at it and they said, “we don’t know what happened” turned in on time and more gas then received and they still charge 25$ more on top. The worst service ever!

The U-Haul app was required to check in because the Corporate system would not do check ins. The app and web site are cumbersome, glitchy and required several reloads due to fields not accepting information. The parking lit was icy, not maintained and difficult to navigate. The one employee that was there was doing an amazing job was well spoke, hard working and a reason to return. He was overloaded yet was still smiling and doing what he could to get the rentals completed. He assisted the 3 people there in navigating the impossible app to make the sale and get everyone the vehicles they needed.

First truck broke down right away. The local Anchorage staff were very helpful, but the system makes it impossible to communicate with them directly. The U-Haul support system was terrible.

The truck was supposed to be ready by 8 and it wasn't ready until 830. Then they gave it to me on empty. I was told if I left if with a 1/4 tank they would credit me 50 bucks. I did that, and even though a 1/4 tank cost more like 60 bucks, I was credited 46 dollars. Doesn't seem fair that I lost money and provided a huge corporation with free gas.

Employees are lazy and don't have two brain cells to rub together. They parked the van I wanted in a foot of snow instead of under the cover and got it stuck so they put me in a 15 foot truck that I DIDN'T WANT and didn't even have the courtesy to brush it off for me. I had to go back in and demand a broom to do it myself since they couldn't be bothered to get off their ass, take their empty heads out of their phones, and do their jobs. I get you can't control the weather but you can control your response to it, and that response was completely unacceptable. I will NEVER use uhaul again.

When I returned the trailer I followed directions to park in the area for returns. A sign said to wait in your vehicle someone would come out. After 3 or 4 minutes I walked the store to find 3 employees busy shooting the breeze with each other. Not very good customer service, especially since my vehicle was clearly visible through the large windows.

When I turned the trailer in, the person who disconnected me didn't check my in at the computer so I got a call the next day saying that I owed two days rent. It got sorted out no problem but it was odd. The person who checked me out did a superlative job.

The pickup location was not where I had reserved the tow trailer; there was a lack of communication, a delay in availability, and frustration that caused me to travel a long distance towing the trailer in more hazardous conditions than I had planned to avoid. Poor Alaska U-Haul operations planning, even though I targeted winter low travel use times. Thumbs down middle management in Alaska. On a good note., the Person helping me load the trailer at the Old Seward Anchorage location and the receiving facility in Fairbanks were excellent. Fire the mid-managers, and promote the men and women in the trenches U-haul. The equipment worked fine, and we made it safe, so in the end, it worked out.

I'm worse off than l was, now I'm Broke, too, and they were horrible to deal with and nothing they said was True , or even happened the way they said it would. Rented a trailer and when the tech hooked up the trailer he noticed that the turn signals were not working on the trailer (the tail lights worked). He then verified that my car was not the problem. He then did me a solid by letting me take the trailer anyway taking me at my word that I'd return the trailer before dark, which I did. I am writing this review in the hopes that you will repair the trailer wiring. The check out was smooth and the trailer performed perfectly.

It was a busy Saturday, and the one employee handling all the walk-in service at the counter, was doing an amazing job of juggling phones, customers, computers, that didn’t seem to work, and everything else. I never caught his name, but whoever was working at the old Seward location on Saturday, December 23, at 1 PM was doing an amazing job.

First of all, I was told there were some trucks that had D-rings in them, to anchor to. This was not the case! Then the truck I was given had a broken tie down rail that I couldn’t use. Next, I started to take the truck and discovered that the front tires were low on pressure. I was then given a different truck. All of this cost me over an hour of time. I had coordinated meeting with people and this threw everything off! Then the topper of this whole thing was, when I looked at check out sheet, it said the truck had 1/4 tank of fuel, which it did not! I even have a picture that I took of the fuel gauge! They did give me a VERY small discount on the rental. Also, I ran into another customer that asked me if I thought it was a problem that the driver’s side wiper was missing! I said yes, and flagged down a worker for him. What a cluster f—-k. Hopefully, they can turn all of this around. If it gets any worse, they’ll really be in trouble…

I had a reservation at one location. Upon arrival, checking in with my mobile, the reservation said "a piece of equipment has not been assigned for this reservation" prompting me to call a number and spend several minutes on the phone listening to recorded messages as to which number I should press to receive help. I cancelled this and went to a different Uhaul business. I only needed a couple hours as my reservation was for, the clerk at the new business put my return time as 24 hours. I returned the Uhaul well within my rental time seeing as I only drove 7 miles. To see I have been charged $20 for an after hours fee is ridiculous. I picked it up at 5:30 and returned it at 7:00. The business closed at 7:00 so I opted for the self mobile return. If I had hurried inside the business, instead of doing the return work myself, I would have not been charged this fee. If I had left it parked in my driveway until the following evening instead, keeping it from being rented out to another party, I would not have been charged this fee. Your employees got to close up business and leave while I was standing in the parking lot taking pictures with my phone essentially doing the work for them, and that cost me more money? I returned it early. This is a bonus for your company. It should NOT be a monetary fine to me. For customers reading this, a past rental with a 4 hour reservation I was charged a late fee when returned an hour late. However if I had rented it for 24 hours and returned it in 5 hours no extra charge would have taken place. So the tip here is rent always 24 hours regardless of how little you need it. The fees are Bullsh*t. Getting away with charging customers fees like this will flow into grocery store self checkout fees, and airline self check in at kiosk fees, as businesses will charge the consumer a fee for the convenience of doing the work themselves, while saving money not having to pay an employee to do the job. I don't think Uhaul reads these reviews, I don't think they care. "If you need a response from us, please use the contract form" yet there is no place on that form to send this email that is for customer service/complaints. So I will have to call them. Press 2, and then 5, and hold, press 3, wait, listen, repeat, ........

I did find that the faciilty has a strong smell - like that of a chemical used to kill bugs. That is my one concern. The staff was very nice, calm, competent, efficient -- all the good things! This really making it a nice, easy experience. I was having a rushed, tough day but after leaving Uhaul and getting my storage unit I felt better. Thank you to the gentleman that helped me.

Security card reader very rarely worked properly. One more than 1 occasion I'd have to wait 10+ minutes for someone to be available to help check me out. Once I had to go find someone.

All but one aspect of my rental was positive. That one aspect will keep me away. The ice on the ground around the security system for the rear storage building was extremely dangerous for my entire rental. EXTREMELY. On two occasions, I asked a staff member to clear it. I never saw any sign that ANY attempt was ever made. As a man of 57, I’m not looking to break an ankle just to access my storage unit. I’ll look elsewhere, and will encourage others to do likewise.

Disappointing though with the seemingly *bait & switch of the add on $10 *access fee~~~~~mandatory specific *lock where numerous competitors are actually providing one*all ~~~~~ inclusive AND that *other U-Haul locations are actually ***honoring a minuscule 10% discount…. Yet this location did not?!!? Austin, Kimberly & Netta (sp.) were extremely helpful on both days, much appreciated! Wish we had this level of customer care & cleanliness in North Pole :-) **A+++. The young man that helped me was very polite an smiled good sense of humor he was well dressed . Very fast getting the paperwork done he also walked me through how to sign in and out. When I asked him how to get to my storage unit he showed me an gave me a map that he made a line from point A to point B . With out showing any signs that I was taking up to much of his time. We need more young people just like him it would make customers wanna come back . Plus the customers would tell family an friends how well your employees served them.

Utilizing the U-HAUL experience was about the only consistent professional help along the way. I had my final check out w Netta at front desk OLD Seward location and as with my check in with her, my check out was a nice and calm last chore/task in a very stressful unexpected situation. . My storage monthly bill is $189. The day of the due date of October 18th, U-HAUL was going to charge me $210. Originally when I started my storage back in March 2022 I was told and read I had a 3-5 grace period to pay or a late fee would be added. I was completely removing all my belongings the 18th and was told if I didn't remove by 7pm of the 18th I was going to be charged $210. How when it's only $189 and I also just made a $981 payment a week prior.

First off, my last name is wrong. He asked me 3 times AND it’s on my drivers license I gave him. The last name on the unit is nothing near my actual last name. Also, both Uhaul website and the papers I was given when I paid for the unit say access hours are until 10pm. We loaded up my car and got there at 7:30 to have it be closed. So the whole day was pointless because my husband leaves for the slope at 6am and is gone 2 weeks. That’s 2 weeks rent I could’ve saved because I cannot move it by myself. We had to come home and unload my car back into the house until he’s home.

I had paid for 24hr access. As I was hours from leaving the country and storing my entire household at the U-Haul location, my access card was not working after hours. The number for manager in charge - Bri -, no one answered for more than an hour and U-Haul customer service also was unable to reach her after many attempts. As a result, I could not miss my flight, and my unit was left open and a cart of my items left just inside the door. I had to conitnuously call the next morning (after flying out of Anchorage) to get someone to lock my unit. The valuable household items on the cart had disappeared. I was told that my account was not authorized for 24hr access, though my charges paid clearly showed that was paying for them. Additionally, as preparing to move my items in storage overseas, my colleague made attemtps to contact the same manager -Bri- via phone to arrange transfer into a U-Box, but was again unreachable. If a manager is going to be unavailable, there should be an alternate to cover responsibilities to support customers. When I move back to Anchorage, unfortuately, I will be chosing a different location for the storage of my items. It's too bad, as the facility and most of the staff are great, but the most important services and management responsible for providing them are lacking. My collegue who helped me, he provided similar feedback and will also have the same advice to others using that property location.

Disappointed in the lack of lighting inside the storage room. There was trouble with the locks for the outside doors… No one seemed to have a key to open the outside roll up door when I was trying to move my stuff out so I had to go to the set of doors to the left that didn’t have a smooth transition to the outside which made it hard with the carts.

Online process was excellent. I received emails regarding access codes and times the facility was open. Then, got to the site with a friend to download a trailer full of belongings and the building and storage room I was assigned was not accessible when I arrived at 7:30 pm. The emails I received showed 24 hours access and another from 5 am to 10 pm. But, the building sign showed 7 am to 7 pm. I was frustrated that I couldn’t get after hour assistance as well. I had to take additional time off from work to download everything without assistance the next day. I do appreciate the young lady at the counter the next day however, she listened to my concerns and helped me extend the rental trailer that was due in that day and even got me a storage unit switched over to the building that was accessible to me after 7 pm. This really turned a difficult situation into a good outcome and showed me their customer service commitment. I am a person that expects businesses to practice what they preach in all aspects and will communicate any discrepancies to the highest levels of management. But, I will also give a positive response to good customer service assistance when It’s done. So, I personally want to thank this team at the front rental counter for the excellent experience after my frustration with the initial online and on-site move. Thank you for taking care of this once frustrated customer.

Staff were very kind and personable; however, the second floor of the storage facility is not ADA-accessible (there is no elevator, only stairs) and the only available storage unit in the size I needed was on the second floor. Because of mobility issues and lack of ADA access, it will take me multiple days to finish unloading my items into my unit. In addition, to unload or load items into/from the units you have to enter through the main store entrance and have staff accompany you to unlock side doors that access a narrow alley outside. Otherwise you’re forced to cart them through the main store area, which is difficult to maneuver a dolly or flat cart through, and through multiple card-keyed doors that you must register and unlock each time. To access the alley you must go in the main store and request that staff accompany you to unlock the outside access doors in an alley then walk back out to the front to drive your vehicle around to the alley. The alley is barely wide enough to accommodate a parked vehicle while allowing any others to pass yet it is the only exit for all vehicles being used to access the storage unit areas. Five stars for the employees (and it’s not their fault the building was built the way it was), one star for accessibility difficulties. Giving it an overall rating of “below average” as all other storage facilities I’ve ever been to are ADA-accessible and do not suffer from the complex vehicle access challenges this one has. I would have chosen a different facility but my U-pod is being shipped to and stored at this one and once it arrives I plan to the items from my storage unit into it. I didn’t want to be juggling storage at two different businesses.

International self storage on c str and international in Anchorage I feel the ones running it is who is trying to break in. It happened during day not at night they claimed Our stuff was safe but I wasn't taking chances. I got a unit at unhaul right away. Be warned it is not worth going any place else. Besides u-haul offers insurance. That alone is worth it to me. The woman who helped us was super awesome and showed us how to gain access and gave us a map. She totally rocks!!!!!!!!(

Hi so I reserve a storage where I have an access for 24 hours and when I got there they didnt even know I had a storage unit reserved and on top of that i thought when u sign up reserve we get free automatic pad locks? I have to pay for the lock waited and greeted with unpleasant attitude but thats fine because it seems like the guy was having a bad day and hard day. So i was wondering if The one i signed up and reserved to have an access for 24hours is available because thats why i rented the uhaul so I can go back and fort. The young man working the front desk lacks in customer service skills. I feel that he is not knowledgeable about the storage options and he did not provide clarity about location of the unit we rented and did not mention that uhaul had their own locks on the unit. The person that answered the phone when we realized we could not access the unit due to being locked, was very helpful and had someone come unlock the unit for us very quickly. Overall the Uhaul experience was great, with the exception of the young man at the desk, he may need more training on how to interact with customers. Thank you!

If you want a square to put your belongings in, Uhaul has expensive rooms for that. If you want to wait forever in line, Uhaul knows how to waste your time. If you wanted to be offended, Uhaul hires the best customer service people for that. I’ll tell you, if I am providing you a good amount of money for a weak service, and your employees give me any attitude (hateful female I have encountered twice), or do not make me feel valued as a customer; I will create accounts around the web and make this review noticed. You want to waste my time, charge my card and hold my money, and then when I call to speak with the General Manager, Steve Womack doesn’t answer. What a disgrace to the Uhaul community. It is difficult to mess up a franchise, where all you have to do is support the business model and keep happy customers.

My experience with Uhaul storage was perfect until the day I moved out. I had reserved a 10' truck to move out my belongings on the last day of my billing cycle. The reservation was for a return trip with a base cost of $19.99. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was told by the Asst. Mgr there were no 10' trucks to rent, that Uhaul had overbooked. I was then told there was a 10' truck but it was only for one ways and it would be $118 and I'd have to drop it off at another Uhaul location. I was not going to pay $100 more for a truck especially b/c this was not my fault. Nor did I have the time to drop the truck off on the other side of town. I instead started unloading my storage with my car but because the location closes at 7 I had to return the next day to finish. The Asst Mngr said I wouldn't be charged for the next month since I was now on day 1 of the next billing cycle, but I was charged and had to speak with a Uhaul rep (Raymond - who was excellent!) about reversing the charges. I had to take off the 1/2 half of this day from work in order to empty the storage unit as well. Lastly, when I asked about the $50 guarantee that's posted on your wall behind the counter, I was told my reservation didn't qualify because of the overbooking. This makes no sense. I made a reservation - the reservation was not fulfilled. It caused me all sorts of trouble, but the guarantee isn't valid because you overbooked? I have worked as a Logisitics Manager the past decade and have both used Uhaul for personal moves as well as for work related moves. I'll be hesitant to put myself in the same position with the company going forward and will be looking at other options.
