My 11/25/21 move in experience was excellent! My attempted 11/24 experience was extremely frustrating! When I got to the unit I had previously reserved there was still a lock on it. Then I was told there were no other units that size; yet, that same night I was able to reserve a unit online and go in the next day and complete the move in process.Sharon P. | First Impressions

The old lady at the counter who I asked about renting the a van was very dismissive and not helpful at all. I enquired about any free van and right off the bat she said, there is none. She did not even check the computer. She was rude and thought racist. There was a white woman who she served before me and she was polite and all the smile on her face. So I thought maybe she could help assist me but I got a dismissive behavior and attitude. After me, there was a middle aged white guy who she served with glee on her voice and she said there was an available van! That must have been her friend that she is saving the van for because she was chatty..complete 180 degrees treatment of what I received. Had I known about the app prior to getting there, I would not have to endure her racist behaviors and attitude. Having experienced that, I would rather drive few miles more to avoid that branch or Uhaul.CHITO E.

I arrived Oct. 24th, the girl at the rental counter wasn't very friendly, after I saw her taking pictures or my driver's license, I told her I didn't want to do the â€œno contact rental,â€ which requires the taking pictures of my license on line because all my info would be out there and I was afraid of hackers getting all my important info. I thought they would have paperwork when I got there. So she said if I didn't want to do it that way, I couldn't rent the truck! Is that really how customer service works. She doesn't care about my valid concerns? A day later I called Abington's phone number and the call was forwarded to another location who took my message and I was told Abington would get back to me. After over 2 1/2 hrs later I stopped by the rental office. I went inside to discuss the problem that the door remote didn't work. I had to explain to the young man, I think his name was Miles that I was quite inconvenienced by 1) no key lock on the passenger door and no remote. The first time it was a problem is when I was carrying a heavy package and then found there was no key lock. 2) the remote not working. So I had to walk around to the driver's door, unlock with a key, open the door and release the lock button, walk back to the passenger's side balance the bundle and open the door, put the bundle in, close the door and o back to the drivers side to drive away. I'm explaining the steps in detail so you can understand the inconvienence to an old person. Of course after discovering no door lock I can save those first steps. So Miles couldn't understand this after I explained it to him 4 times, so I demonstrated it ti him by using the racks near the counter as I walked from one side ot the rack to the other as if it was the driver side and passenger side, but unfortunately it seemed beyond his understanding. When I asked why no one returned my call 2 1/2 hrs earlier he said they were too busy, when I asked if they could replace the battery in the remote he again said they were too busy. He had told me they would fix the remote when I turned the truck in. I said that does me no good I have the truck for 2 weeks, it should have been done before I picked it up. I'm skipping over redundant discussion with Miles. I asked how about if I replace the battery in the remote, will you reimburse me for the battery? He said "Oh I don't think they'll do that. I said "can you ask your manager. So of course he says, he's busy now. I said can you call him? So I'm skipping the rest of the play by play, you get the idea this guy is incompetent and I would say over all an unpleasant experience at this location. By the way, for the 30 minutes I spent in "This very busy" store, no one came in while I was there, nor did I see any trucks being moved! Irritated Robert BrownROBERT B.

Your communications are truly lacking. My end of run delivery was very late. I understand that delays happen, but there was zero communications from your company as to what was going on. I had to call daily to find out and usually ended up on hold, going around in circles from one call center to another. Very frustrating and exhausting experience. I was charged fir gas I did not use the truck had between a quarter and a half tank when I picked. I was told to return with the truck with e same amount of gas which I did and got a receipt saying I was charged over a $100 for a full tank of gas and never received a response to email asking for an explanation. Also the front left tire on the truck was bald. I am very disappointed.David D.
Uhaul at my pick up location in Abington was awesome! I ordered uboxes for my upcoming long distance move. Adam was attentive and super helpful to make sure everything went smooth! The only poor review I can say is that once I arrived to my new location, there was a mix up on the ordering of moving help for one of the boxes, which is okay, it happens, but the woman I had called (Nadine) was literally zero help! I understand the system was down through uhaul but not moving help. She emailed me instructions on how to cancel my whole order and then reorder it. However, she obviously wasn't listen to my issue because I couldnt cancel the whole order because one ubox was already delivered. She was horrible. I waited an hour and called movinghelp. Alyssa was wonderful! She explained everything, worked through the issue and handled it. If it wasn't for her I would'nt have the rest of my furniture! She truly made the move a success! Furthermore, there seems to be a communication issue between uhaul and their third party movers! If they get on the same page the whole experience would be effortless.Stefanie M.

I was told to remove my property without being contacted. I was never called and never emailed. I had the number changed in the system twice and was still told the number was the same. The facility has storage options that involve the customer climbing a ladder for access this is silly, unsafe and not clearly explained in the website. The staff was very helpful but extremely slow to the point of annoyance. This was after I had pre registered online to save time. Staff advised me to get a certain type of lock but then did not have any in stock for purchase I had to buy a lesser lock and hope my things are safe. This experience led me to think the staff is poorly trained which is sad because training your staff is the easiest thing to do to avoid a bad customer experienceAMY W. | First Impressions

I have used Uhaul for decades. In the past, an employee would do a "walk around" before handing you the keys. This did not happen. The vehicle only had 760 miles on it...brand new!! but I still think that an inspection before leaving the lot would remove any questions if there was any prior damage. My sister passed away and we needed a van to pack up her apartment in NY. Ihad made some calls ro get information and the first two people were not very helpful or friendly. Finally a gentleman named Matt was very empathetic, walked me through options, cancelled a reservation for me that I made previously and booked me a far better reservation. When we went to pick up the vehicle, the helpful young man behind the counter had no idea why we needed the van or the difficult circumstances, but his manner, customer service skills and smile made this part so easy. One less worry. And the cost was so reasonable, I will never use another company for storage or moving!!! Thank you, Matt and Myles. Our interaction started with a crew that looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but at work. We had a reservation for 11 am and after a checkout process that took entirely way too long due to lack of knowledge on their POS; no one bothered to give us a general idea of where our truck might be. Once we found it, our truck was blocked in by construction vehicles. We had to walk all the way back to the main office to tell them which was painful to watch them fluster and not know what to do next. What's the point of having 4 employees if they're not there to make sure reservations and transactions run smoothly? An app could do a better job.CASSIE M.

Communication is everything especially when dealing with customers. How did the general manager not know what the claim I made was about and as to why I made it? She got the audacity to call me and tell me that everything was fine and it was shipped on time not knowing they had been 21days late from the first guaranteed date. Also I was charged for 2 boxes because someone was too fucking lazy to correct the error. The 2nd ubox costed me more money because U Haul decides to PUNISH me for their own mistake of moving my box farther than it had to be. Also the staff did not know the difference between guaranteed shipping TO MY DESIGNATIONS or $50 refund pre day late and thought it ment to the State facility. Over all a bad experience. Seems to me like a scamer business with what I went thru. Also the emails and phone called I received were all off and not the same information. I believe someone had either a cat or dog in the vehicle, because my eyes wouldn't stop watering, until I turned off the AC and opened the windows. There were also small hairs all over the passenger seat. This is not the first time I've had this type of experience renting a van from this location. I believe the pet dander is just as bad as someone smoking in the vehicle. I was fortunate it wasn't that hot while renting the van and I could deal with just keeping the window open.LESTER W.

You could inform your loading and unloading companies what the hell is going on. Neither had any idea, we had to inform them about what they were doing. Also, the loading company showed up with 2 uboxes which was fine and we only used two...we had requested 4. It literally took weeks to get the 2 unused uboxes off our initial bill. Again, seems like you don't communicate with the loading/unloading companies. Overall, the move worked, the loader/unloader companies were spectacular. Also, there seemed to be confusion about the 2 uboxes delivered to Fountain Hills...your Uhaul people had no idea what to do with them, what we wanted done, or why they had received them. It was a Uhaul Saga trying to rent from them. I went online and reserved a truck from a Uhaul location that was a half a mile from my house. I got the confirmation email for that pick up and drop off location for the date and hours I reserved. When I went to complete my early check-in online it said I had a truck reserved that was 1.5 HOURS away from my house. I called the customer service number and waited on hold for about a half hour for a representative. The representative told me that there were no trucks available at the location close to my house and the only available truck was 40 minutes away. At that point I didn't have a choice because I had already hired the movers to come, so I reserved a truck. The customer service rep took me through the features and I ordered moving pads, but not the roadside service insurance as I have AAA. (If I'm renting a moving truck isn't there an implied warranty that the truck won't break down? And if it does break down isn't that the company's responsibility?) I got the confirmation email for my new order and it had the correct information. On moving day I went online to do the self-check-in. The website was really slow and it took me a while to upload my driver's license and complete the check-in. When I got to the location it was clean-looking and there was only 1 party in front of me and only 1 customer service rep. I get to the counter and the customer service rep starts to check me in again, asking for my license, etc. I told them I already did this online. They said the computer system was having problems and they need to do it again. They ask me if I want the roadside insurance, I say, "No, I have Triple AAA." They tell me that I can't use Triple AAA providers on their trucks they have their own service providers and I have to use them. I told them I'll take my chances that they're not going to give me a bum truck. Then the customer service rep says, "Oops. I already signed you up for the roadside assistance and when I tried to delete it from your order, I deleted the entire order. We need to start from scratch and create a new order for you. Then the rep needs to create a whole other order for the moving pads that I originally ordered! Meanwhile the place is getting busier and the Manager comes in and starts helping people. He gives 3 parties their trucks and I'm still getting my order processed. So 45 minutes later they hand me the keys. I ask, "Is there anything I should know about the truck or your policies? " They say, "No it's all in the contract, you can read it all right here." By that time I'm running late, the helpers are already waiting for me at my house and I don't have the bandwidth to read the contract. So I get outside and realize I have no idea where to even start looking for my truck - this is a big location and there are a lot of trucks spread out all over the lot. So I go back in and ask them where is the truck so I don't have to hunt for it. They tell me, "It's right out front," with an attitude like I should have known that. I check out the truck and there's no moving pads in it. So I go back in and ask them for pads. The manager asks me, "How many did you order?" I said. "I don't remember. I ordered them online a couple of weeks ago. How many did you charge me for?" And I hand him my receipt. But the pads aren't on that receipt because the customer service rep put them on a different order and didn't give me that receipt. So he hands me 2 bags of pads and off I go. The kicker is, a few days later when they email me my receipt I notice that they charged me for the roadside assistance so the whole saga of deleting my order and having to re-create it was all for naught!Elizabeth T.

We were a paying customer since the place opened. We were given 30 days notice to leave because UHaul wanted to use the space for other priorities. I didn't have any where else to store my vehicle. After talking to a woman in the office trying to see if there was anything that could be done, any other space on the property I could move to or if she had any suggestions of what to do or where to go, I pretty much got the cold shoulder and was told to vacate. I have been a customer for over 2 years and pay automatically by credit card. My credit card got hacked and I brought over the new one which was added to my account, but old one was not deleted. Auto payment was declined on old card, so I was charged a late fee. Again, came to office and the desk staff deleted hacked card, it then accidentally deleted my account so had to set up a new one. I then paid for the month , but then got another late fee notice. In the meantime , every day I get 2 emails from you asking me to say why I left and how did I like being a new customer. I wasn't given clear instructions on how to enter the building so we set alarms off by mistake and they weren't shut off right away. We were impressed that the facility had alarms, a covered loading dock, carts, cameras, drinking fountains and bathrooms! We were sent to the unit only to find a plastic tie holding it closed. When calling the Abington number, an out-of-state person finally answered and told me to go to the office. I was in the office for more than 5 minutes calling out for someone, but it was completely empty. I called again and got someone from Arizona, who said they must be helping someone elsewhere. I took a pair of scissors from the workstation and went to cut the tie. Also, the mattress cart was too small for our mattress (most are now more than 8 inches thick), and the loading area was literally a sheet of ice.Alyssa P. | First Impressions

I would rate this as "excellent" or "above average" if not for the fact that I was unable to confirm my reservation on Tuesday or Wednesday for my Thursday move-in. The two people I was able to connect with (by phone) just transferred me elsewhere; one also said she would have her manager call me since she couldn't find the reservation. The manager never called.
