I would like to re-rate this location, following correction to the final charges. See below; however, I still have not heard back from the GS at the 5200 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS location regarding being charged for 2 days, for 1 day usage. ========== GM at 5200 State Avenue U-Haul location, I am viewing my receipt for Contract Number: 23164560. I rented the Trailer for a move on Saturday, 25 SEP 2021 with the intent to return the unit by that evening, with a due date of Sunday, 26 SEP at ~10:45am. Once I had the unit loaded it was dark and unfortunately the lights on the trailer were not functional. I waited until Sunday morning and began calling the store location at 0715 in the morning. The first attendant indicated she would make the appropriate change and notify the local Uhaul store (5200 State Avenue) and they would contact me when they opened. When I did not receive a call I called again, that attendant was less than helpful and transferred me to the Customer Service line (a process that took 46 minutes with no response). I called back and got another attendant that immediately transferred me again, but assured me that I would not be charged for a second day. Still not hearing back, later I called the road-side number, for which I was again transferred to Customer Service -- where I discussed the issue with a helpful person (at the local 5200 State Avenue location, but not in the actual store. She said her office was someplace behind the main building). She was very helpful and ensured me that since I was not able to use the trailer for approximately 12-13 hours of the time that I had contracted I would not be charged. She extended my return time until Monday, 27 SEP at (approximately 10:45am) and said I would hear from Roadside Assistance immediately. I never did. I finished my work with the trailer and despite calling Roadside support to correct the problem I never heard back. I emptied the trailer and returned the trailer to the 5200 State Avenue location on Sunday, 27 SEP 2021 -- well before the deadline. I should have incurred only a one day charge -- $41.40, vice the two day charge of $82.82. Please contact me at (913) 548-9321 if you have any questions regarding the facts mentioned above. One of the safety cables was wrapped in duct tape. It must have been dragging on the ground from a previous rental. The cable was just hanging on my hitch after the first corner. I guess if equipment comes back with tape on the wiring, safety chains, or safety cables then it's worth a deeper inspection to see why. Fortunately I didn't need to rely on the safety equipment and had a smooth experience.Bradley G.

I rented 4 uhauls for a 24 hour period for last saturday 9/18 3 at 5200 state ave kcks and one from 910 southwest blvd. ALL with GUARENTEED reservation. So I started picking them up. when my driver got dropped off at the last location ( 910 southwest blvd) My truck was not there. They gave it away. I already paid with MY Credit card online with the reservation. 22865064. They refused to atleast give me my $50 guaranteed money back.PHILIP S.

There is a young lady who works the counter who is very rude. I moved this year and have rented trucks about 7 times since April and every time she is there, she has been rude not only to me but other customers. I've dealt with the male employees and they are easier to work with. Yesterday, she was speaking and a customer went to ask her a question and instead of answering his question, she looked at him and said â€œ Let me finish my sentenceâ€. When I arrived, I asked her for the keys to the truck, as I have done in the past, to complete the inspection before I left. She refused and said I needed to finish the check in process on my phone and needed to go to the truck to finish it. I went over to the truck and pushed I found my truck and it said I needed to see an employee to get the keys. Being a manager, I understand the issues with finding good employees, but her customer service screams that she doesn't want to be there nor does she want to spend 5 minutes helping customers, but she also doesn't want to go out to clean the trucks and do the return process. She is the only reason that I've started looking at other locations and companies to get a truck.MICHAEL D.

Was not treated well by a staff member when I arrived. I was asking for help to try and pick up the truck with the app. I could not figure out how to do it. When I dropped the truck off I tried to use the app and the website, I spent about 30 minutes and it kept having issues reading the barcode by the door, and uploading photos. While on hold with customer service for over 20 more minutes I finally got the web site to work. The fact that it took almost an hour to check the truck back in made this a horrible experience.JAMES W.

The truck wasn't cleaned at all, when I cleaned it out to return it I found the previous renters Costco ID and their rental contract. We also had to deliver to a different location because the one we were originally scheduled to deliver to said we could return the truck but not the trailerâ€¦excuse me? So I contacted uhaul. The first time the chat person just terminated the conversation stating that I showed as away before they'd even said hello. The next person was more helpful but was quick to terminate the chat as well. They changed the delivery to a location 30 miles outside of our new town and then not only charged us for the extra miles but for the gas that was used going from one location to another. If I ever have to move again I most certainly will not be using uhaul and I will be reporting them to the BBB.Scottie S.

Trailer given was my the one on the contract. Asked about getting the correct one and got attitude. While checking lights on the trailer some did my turn on and harness was broken. Still didnt give me the correct trailer. Later on in my trip the wheel bearing gave out on it and got stranded in the middle of an interstate. Waited 2 hours on hold for a response from roadside, only to get no help. I had to fix their trailer. Had I gotten the correct trailer or uhaul had them well maintaned, this wouldn't have happened. Also at the returning location manager kept telling me he will call me to "make things right," I'm still waiting for a phone callEdgar R.

A little more customer experience. They didn't go out and check damage or mileage, and that ended up costing me, because the guy just told me to take a picture if starting gas line on paper was different. Ended up getting charged for fuel that I wasn't supposed to. I disputed the final bill. It went from 68.00 to 106.00. Didn't even ask to see my pictures after hours checknin.KAREN J.

Notify your customer if changes have to be made to their reservation. Was given a smaller truck than I was allowed to reserve and never got an email/call or update via the app. Cost me two trips which resulted in more fuel and mileage chargers and a dragged out move that could've been done more efficiently with correct truck. The gentleman who checked us in said he would be up to help us look up the trailer, but nobody, but nobody, but nobody came to help I suck up the trailer. The trailer bottom lights did not work. The trailer had a Foul smell like someone broke a bottle of garlic in it. I had to hose it out. When I tried to check it in I could not get the phone to go through and could not tell Anyone that even though The trailer wasn't due until Sunday I had it back on Saturday at 5 PM. The U-Haul center in SMITH center was closed but my previous dealing with a man who ran it was quite pleasant. He did an amazing job of checking in a truck for me.IRVIN T.

I requested an appliance dolly with my reservation. It was not included in the truck. Upon my return, I explained that to the young man checking me in. He said, "Yeah, that happens..." then, the charge remained on the receipt. I understand, it's only $10, but it's $10 for a service I requested and did not receive. I'm finished moving and I'm glad. Our associate, Connor Guinean, deserves a call out. He helped us verify our hitch was appropriate and was extremely pleasant throughout the process. We were in and out quickly. I think we messed up the convenience of the online check-in process by seeking guidance from the staff instead of attempting to just access the facility on our own. Rather than just walking us through the info we received online, it was as if they started the check-in process all over but did not tell us they changed our access info, etc and they charged us for another lock but we found one in the unit when we got to the unit. Small inconveniences of having to make multiple trips back to the office to figure out why we couldn't get in. In the end it all worked out fine, just not the most helpful (knowledgeable??) staff. Nice facility, less impressed with the staff. Just seemed to go through the motions rather than really listen to customer and assist appropriately. Even inquired about dropping our rental truck there instead of returning to STL area but was basically discouraged from doing so for reasons that felt more like because the staff didn't want to deal with it, than for legitimate reasons. This may be an inaccurate impression, so I don't want to be too negative about our experience with staff. Overall I would recommend the facility to others.tricia k. | Online Move In
