The worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. I'm staff is disrespectful and unwilling to assist. One of the employees was smoking in the U-Haul trucks. The general manager was very rude and unhelpful, one staff member was so lazy she ignored my voice when trying to talk to her so I could get assisted and the third employee was smoking in your trucks.JULIO D.

Personnel not very helpful. First employee that I asked to help return truck was eating his lunch at counter and did not speak. I finally asked if he could help and he said to go out side and he would be out. He never came out. The second employee helped but was not overly friendly. I explained about the truck and our experience with the water pouring in and she said that someone from corporate would followup. No one has of course. Not a great experience overall.Zane P.

I ended up paying more money than planned because of this setback trying to get my daughter's belongings to college campus. Now I am broke. This is the last time I will use this location. Excellent experience top to bottom. We first tried the Metairie Causeway location and was assisted by a knowledgeable young man there. We reserved at a different location, registered online, and the check-out was smooth and easy at the facility. Can was clean and in hood working order. Great drop-off location. The customer service at this location was awful. The person who I dealt with to obtain the keys was so rude. Also, I had rented an appliance dolly and 30 furniture blankets along with a truck. The items were not in the truck when I went to drive away. So I had to go back in to get those items. The employee rudely replies, â€œwe don't got any appliance dollies in the store.â€ I was immediately irritated since I reserved the item 14 days in advance. She didn't apologize or try to assist me in locating an available one at another nearby store. She then went to get the blankets and just threw them in bags and threw them at our feet in front of the store. At this time, my husband and I noticed an appliance dolly sitting in front of the sliding door to the warehouse. I asked the employee, â€œis there any reason we can't use this appliance dolly?â€ She replied very snippy, â€œI didn't know that was there, it probably just came out of a truck.â€ I just responded with, â€œok well can we use it then?â€ She didn't reply to me at all. She just walked back inside. So my husband and I just stood outside the building awkwardly waiting to see if we could take this dolly that I had already technically reserved. Finally another associate walks by and I ask, â€œhey can I take this dolly?â€ He goes inside, asks the female employee that we had been dealing with if we could take it and she says, â€œyeahâ€. So she never intended to tell us we could take it and she was so ugly throughout the entire process. I had opted to do the â€œapp check inâ€ process where all I should have needed to do was click some buttons on my phone and just get the keys from the associate inside. It should have taken about 10 min. Instead, it took me a little over an hour to do everything because of having to go back and forth with this rude employee. I was very disgusted with how I was treated. Also, the truck had less than 1/8 of a tank of gas when we picked it up.Douglas B.

The staff were rude (loud and degrading attitude), the equipment was dirty (cigarette ashes, coffee cup), the rental wasn't ready for 2 hours after reservation time.Michael M.
The manager was late to work. The store was supposed to open at 7am Saturday but she didn't arrive to after 8am. My reservation was for 7:30 and I got there at 9. It messed up my entire day. I had to leave and come back at 3pm. I am very disappointed because I use uhaul every weekend because I am a party planner. I was late to my event as an result. She told me to disputed it ant the end of self checkout but I was still charged .DOMINIQUE S.

There was a line of customers because the manager wasn't there during the time It should have been. There were about 12 people outside waiting. We were finally able to get our truck turned in as others waited outside to rent. But then we received a call stating we owed 10 bucks and she was rude. I asked why was no one there to open store as whwn I left it was hour and half past time. The female manager â€œ said because I was late. With a complete attitude. I am sure you can look at tickets or cameras to see the people waiting outside. She then repeated â€œ cuz I was late â€œ as if it was acceptable. It just shows the level of character she never apologized for the inconvenience of anything so rude and abrupt. I will be writing corporate. I am so thankful my parents pushed education. Do not use this location the current manager is rude, not trustworthy to arrive ontime and has a attitude of entitlement.OTIS S.

The 24/7 mobile app experience was horrible. Both checking the vehcile out and checking it back in was rife with technical issues and eventually the customer service rep agreed to let me just bypass it all to take my truck. Total mess.Ryan H.

My main complaint: Long wait time to receive my truck despite my renting online. First, I had to wait on my application to be approved, then I had to wait to take the keys off the desk (!) Employee was very rude and unhelpful.Michael O.

I chose to check in via mobile as to limit contact since there is a pandemic. I had to go inside to collect a key, and the agent did not wear a mask, despite my wearing one and the mandatory mask mandate of the city. She seemed very annoyed that I was there and even more annoyed that i needed a key. She had no idea where the key was and acted like I should know what to do pertaining to check in. As a whole the experience was very concerning, and it made me question whether or not the vehicle I rented was safely cleaned prior to my pick up, or after as well. Do better please.Joel W.

I am VERY unhappy with uhaulâ€¦. I originally booked it for this morning at 10:30 am off w judge Perez in chalmetteâ€¦. We got there to pick it up, and there was no truck there. I originally ordered a 10ftâ€¦ I then called uhaul and went to st Claude Abe, the people there were very nice, however, I had to get a 15ft, which raised the amount of what I was renting it forâ€¦ the got charged another 29.09 because of 89/mile and we said originally 100 miles but went 22 over, which would be around 19.00 AND put the gas back at what it was supposed to be at. I am very unhappy with how uhaul was todayâ€¦ I would like some type of credit back to my card or something to make this right. The whole thing put us and hour and half behind so I couldn't get done everything that needed to be done. I reserved a 20' uhaul 2-3 weeks in advance, when I got there today. The closest vehicle they had available was the pickup truck. They said the reservation had allowed for double booking somehow.JARED M.
We couldn't upload before pics . Wouldn't go through to there web site. turned truck in 14 hours earlier than deadline. Followed sign on door per employee locking up for the day but once again nothing would go through to their website. So left key. Every time we tried to call there was no answer. Called customer service to explain what happened. The customer service rep was very kind and said she noticed the $20.00 charge explaining why they charged me for. she understood the reason why we were unable to follow the return instructions as well as not being able to send pictures in the beginning. So she sent the request to the manager for a refund of only the $20.00 due to not being able to send information in. When the manager called my number, I tried to explain,but she kept over talking me. i just hung up and called customer service back. i just wanted my $20.00 back that they charged me for returning it after hours although I got it back there 14 hours before it was due back. The rude manager said it was because we didn't follow the instructions on the door. I kept trying to tell her that we couldn't get it to go through but she kept arguing with me and over talking me so again I just hung up. The 2nd customer service lady said she would not over ride the manager. I wouldn't have a problem paying extra if I legitimately did not try to follow instructions. In fact I would have been ok paying the extra for the convenience if I would have known, because my son and I sat in the vehicle very exhausted from the heat and move trying over and over on both of our phones , that are serviced by different companies and neither one of us could get the information to go through. So I had no choice but to leave the keys. Very rude manager !!!! When we first arrived we had to wait because there was only one lady waiting on customers while 3 employees were in the office with the mirrored window. i felt bad for the lady assisting the customers, but she handled her self well and was doing a great job. Picking up a dirty vehicle was a first for me. Being shifted from Slidell where I reserved to now pickup in New Orleans was a shock. Clean out of a truck includes the center console. There was NO DOUBT this truck was used by pot people. I mean no doubt for 7-days. There was some gooey, sticky, smelly residue in the center console, to which my son told me was bong water. The staff were friendly, but were frustrated due to not having enough vehicles for the reservations.MATTHEW V.

Their is a very shortage of staff at this location. Their was one person there at the time of my pickup. She had to complete the reservation, go outside to clean the truck, and do the inspection, she didn't have any kind of help. It made the process really long. Truck had unmarked damage from previous trip. I had pictures of some damage, but apparently not of correct angle to get all of it. So i got left on the hook for it. There doesnt seem to be much consistency in the inspection processRobert S.

Make sure your store is open on time so I can get my reservation on time. Maybe paying your employees more might raise morale. The store manager said that everyone is lazy and no one wants to work, everyone just wants a check. There was a customer in line and they said â€œI'm out of work, how much do you pay?â€ The manager said â€œ9.25â€. Everyone in line burst out laughing. There's no wonder your store isn't open on time. That is incredibly underpaid for working in the Louisiana heat, hooking up car tows, cleaning cars, checking people in and out, etc. Knowing how low your employees are paid with how much of a monopoly your company has makes me sick. Maybe customers would have a better experience if the employees didn't have to worry about having money for food to eat when they get home.Travis F.

The â€œcustomer serviceâ€ reps for my pickup on 7/1021 at 11:00 am we're downright surly and went out of their way to be unhelpful and offensive. Seriously â€" it was almost comical how pissed off and rude both women were to me and other clients. And what is up with them having to call the phone number of one of your friends to verify your existence? This is the weirdest and most unnecessary practice I've ever seen in my life. I am a gold star remember with both Hertz and Avis, I rent cars for business trips monthly, and I have a squeaky clean driving record. Oh - and my credit score is over 800. But they had to call my husband in another state to verify my rental? Is this sexist or just stupid? This is the closest U-Haul rental to my house, but the experience was so horrific I would probably rather drive out of my way to another location then have to deal with this bullshit.Michelle L.

The staff at the St Claude location is exceptionally friendly and helpful and is the only redeeming quality for me with the U-Haul company . But not being able to rent a trailer for more than 24 hours is a huge inconvenience, cost me a lot of money, and I will seek out alternative companies next time I need to rent.Brian K.

I've had this same issue with trucks in two separate states in the last couple months, so it has nothing to do with this specific location (they were great!), but the ignition in both trucks I've used recently has been busted, it takes like 3 minutes of jiggling the key just to get it to move past the start position to turn the truck on. The ladies at this location are awesome. They made a difficult time so much easier. Renting a storage unit in many cases indicates a personal trauma, transition and possibly economic hardship. Over the last two years I've been a customer because of some extreme difficulty ... I can't tell you how above and beyond these ladies go.
