Anthony B.I paid at least two extra months rent in late fees because for over a year they refused to change my due date to something that would work for me. After two years of begging, they finally let me change it. Some of the staff was rude to us from the beginning. Then in August a storm came and took off part of the roof causing water damage to some of our stuff, and we gave them permission to move our non damaged items to a new unit, and they would document the damaged items before discarding them. They didn't document anything, so we go to get a piece of furniture out for a friend and it's missing with half of our stuff. My wife had to get a police escort to demand to see our old unit because they refused to do it without the police there. In the unit was two pieces of damaged furniture, but everything else was gone. They told us to file a claim with their insurance, Repwest. They reached out to me while I was working, but I tried calling back several times and the would not return my calls. My wife tried calling, and they won't return her calls either. Now we're out thousands of dollars in damaged property due to staff negligence by not documenting anything and no means of replacement.
Thomas S. | Overall ExperienceI made the reservation a week in advance over the phone. When I came in to check in this AM, the reservation was not completed, had no unit. Another associate added one on. That afternoon when I went to the unit, it already had a lock on it. I had to be switched to 4 units. The 1st was occupied 2nd water damage tag 3rd occupied the last unit my husband found which was a smaller unit. Smh. The young man that serviced us in the process that afternoon when we checked in was 100% awesome. Great customer service. He completed our services including truck return with a beautiful smile and courteousness. I WILL DO REPEAT BUSINESS BECAUSE OF HIM. Thank you for your service young man. Morning staff POOR service. Afternoon gentleman AWESOME. the associates names are on my contracts so there is no need to state that. Please address accordingly.

Rachel M.I had a total of 6 containers. Only 3 would fit on my driveway at one time. I requested that my deliveries to be made 1 day apart both deliveries to take place in the morning. Delivery one happened perfectly no issues. Delivery day 2 did not happen until after 2 pm. I had to have my moving help leave and come back. When I called the 800 number for a status on delivery was on hold for more then 30 minues and my call was eventually routed to an agent in Savannah. I know that my delivery took place over labor day weekend and it was very likely a very very very busy day. I am very pleased with the service I recieved from U Hauil and would recommendand use this service again.

Carla W.After the storage units flooded out, I was told to move my items to a drying area. I told the representative that I would be out of town and was told that it would not be a problem for me to come back to check on my items the following week. Upon my return, my items were missing. I notified employees several times to no avail. I am currently awaiting a response from the general manager. I also asked for a copy of the items damaged in the flood so that I could send it to my renters insurance. I still have not received such paperwork.

The first part, we had an issue and, while it was ultimately corrected, the Asst Mgr, Judy, initially told me she couldn't fix it, because she didn't have the authority. When I drove to her location, suddenly she had authority she previously claimed not to have had. She then told me the only people who could help me with the issue were not working. When I got about ten minutes down the street, she called and told me otherwise, giving me the number to call, which prompted me to turn around and head back to her. I'd expressed previously that, as I'd spent the last 4 hours on the phone being transferred around, by her people included, I wanted her to call. She and her staff had knowingly been transferring me to closed offices. I know she knew it was closed, because she told me their hours of operation right off the top of her head while I was sitting in front of her. Additionally, before I went to see Judy, Uhaul staff told me the center I needed was Texas, then Arizona, then local, then Arizona again. I was also told they opened at 7, 9, and 11 (quoting local times). The staff in NY were all great once I arrived. Your containers are WAY too small. A normal sofa will not fit in one, yet you claim 4 containers will hold a 3 br home. This was untrue. It took 8 and we didn't even BRING living room furniture. Your containers are sized for dorms, offices, or small apartments, not houses, and not for people with actual furniture. You could start by adding containers that will accommodate normal, standard sized living room furniture. If a full sized sofa would fit. Luckily, we'd planned to replace ours in the move. Shawn, the NY delivery driver, is great and my delivery driver in SC was very accommodating.

And the other member told me I could just call and explain. I don't know if this is your concern, but the truck was a nightmare. It cost me almost $300 in gas. And that shouldn't have went that way. That's because you'll keep old trucks. That's not tuned up and in proper working order. It took me 12 hours to come down to 29229. From VA 23608.

So when I returned the truck with the gas receipts I was told, by the same person, that gas purchases are not refundable. Pictures were submitted as proof of the dollar amounts and it did no good. I am strongly demanding my refund asap.

The SERVICES of renting a unit purchasing packing supplies, truck rentals, and hitch is handled efficiently with excellent customer service. I highly recommend this sand hills location, all the staff are always professional. It is unfortunate the weather created calls of concern for our rental units but again, I was greeted with nice people in a professional manner.

The facility should’ve been updated/ maintenanced so that this didn’t happen to it’s customer’s. Also as the workers were helping to move my things they dropped a couch on my dryer denting it up and went on as if he didn’t happen instead of notifying us that it happened. This is very unacceptable and I wouldn’t recommend your facility to anyone based on my experience.

Actually explain the paperwork instead of talking on your Bluetooth to someone about warehouse two. It may as well have been self service since I had to take all the pictures with my phone for the app, all he said was do a visual inspection, never told me I'd be getting yet another text with more for me to do. Had to call and wait on hold to have it resent because it didn't arrive before I'd started driving. Had to wait for over 5 minutes for someone to show up in the building so I could return truck and get receipt.The young man has apparently learned bad habits from his General Manager as he also helped another customer before me when I was clearly there first, and I had to wait even longer while he rang up a bunch of moving boxes while I stood waiting for my receipt. All in all, the truck served it's purpose but the service was less than stellar.
Victoria L.Despite calling several days in advance, my U-Box wasn't ready for self delivery pick up when I arrived. Didn't take long for them to get it ready, though. Also, the safety straps were installed over the door latches so I had to loosen one of the straps to open the door and get into the U-Box. Nobody explained to me how to do that and it took me almost an hour to figure it out. It would be a good idea to show people how to do that or to install the straps under the door latches.

TERRY M. | First ImpressionsIt would have been an excellent rating but because of what appeared to be systemic issues getting the right part to the shop, I ended up having to go to the store three times before they could do the hitch receiver installation. The installer worked with me to try and make it right. They even offered a partial refund for the trouble. I'd say the store staff did their best with what they had. It sounds like U-Haul's parts logistics and automated systems failed. If there's something the store could do better then it would be communicating with the customer before the appointment that there are problems. U-Haul corporate needs to re-evaluate their logistics to prevent sending the wrong parts or having them on backorder without the customer knowing. I honestly didn't mind the delays cause stuff like that happens, but communicating these issues before the appointment would have saved me at least one of those three trips. Once the part finally arrived, the installer got it on my car faster than I had time to pull my computer out and get some work done in the waiting room. The actual installation was excellent.

Whitney L.The vehicle I was given felt like a roller coaster! I am not certain why the check engine light was not on, but it should have been. The transmission is going, the engine rattled, an alignment is needed and the vehicle was shaking. It was actually pretty scary. I tried to phone in to see if i could switch it out but no one answered at the time, so I just drove. I don't belie i will do that ever again. The people at the counter were friendly, the process was easy, the truck was hell! Please do better!
Robynne C.When I arrived my appliance dolly was not in the uhaul . Once inside there was none available to rent. I was required by my movers to have this dolly ready. I then had to drive 7 miles away to another uhual and pay extra to rent one. This cost me mileage on the truck and time . If someone would have let me know before hand I could have drove my truck to get the dolly and not waste mileage on the truck that I wasn't expecting to use. The dolly cost me $16 instead of the original $10 because I had to pay more to return all at one location . A little communication could have saved me a lot of time and wasted money.

I told customer service that I wanted the unit outside because I had some much stuff to move, 2nd I felt unsafe entering my storage unit because someone broke the glass to the roll up doors exlease twice I don't no if someone try to brake in, Then 3rd I was going to move my stuff out of storage on 08/06/2023 because that is when my free 30days was up but some how my Debit card been save on file for auto pay with out my authorization so I was charged $215 something dollars on the 6th so that cause my account to overdrawn so I couldn't move my belongings out on the 6th to pay for a U-Haul truck so I had to wait until I get paid again on 06/11/23 to clear up my account . So I move my stuff out on 08/12/23 because the weekends is only when I'm off. And also on 06/11/23 I reserved a 20 foot truck in was told that that it will be available at 9am on 08/12/23, but that wasn't the case. It wasn't available, so I had to get a smaller truck and also made extra trips. I don't think I will be U-Haul services again.

Raeann A.My box was delivered over 24 hours late which affected my entire move--I had movers at my house who I paid to sit and wait for a box that didn't arrive. Employees were unhelpful on the phone regarding the ETA of the delivery. I had to hire movers to come out again once the box was delivery--cost double what I should have paid, and then Uhaul charged me for another month's box rental because I had the box longer than expected! Luckily after a live chat complaint a manager contacted me and refunded the extra fees. This was a big hassle.

Turns out the truck was broken, I don't know why they couldn't just tell me that instead of making me wait with my movers and transferring my calls or just not answering them. Also late picking up the boxes both times. Online Uhaul customer service was decent, whoever was working in scheduling at Sparkleberry on 7.29.23 needs customer service training. Over all a highly stressful process and I will not be using Uboxes for any future moves. I lost any moving help I had due to lack of communication and failure to deliver on time.

He was very rude, act as if asking questions was a problem . I almost cancelled my U-Haul services because of his terrible attitude. However, the only reason I didn’t cancel was because thank God for Mr Hasheem he was polite, professional, answered all of my questions and if it wasn’t for him having EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE I would’ve cancelled. He should be promoted to a Manager because he represented what your company should display to its paying customers. I stayed only because of Mr Hasheem excellent service in helping me! I pray I never have to deal with another horrible employee again like Mr Lamarcus representing your U-HAUL COMPANY!

The reality is the employees stole my items and got away with it. They could have let me know the same way they let me know when I didn't pay so I could have come to pick up my inventory. Worst experience ever and I will never return or recommend them again.
