Could not talk to anyone in customer service to find a time to schedule a time to have my box dropped off. Constantly shuffled around between phone numbers and with lots of people who were not helpful at all. I was also called and asked to my box dropped off a day early, and while I was working, and was told that time was the only time it could be dropped off. Thankfully, there is one other person who was able to unload. Overall, lack of professionalism and coordination among the Uhaul team lead to a very poor experience, and I will not be using them to help me move again.Zachary F.

- Online checking takes too long. It provides truck number, but it doesn't provide a location reference in the parking lot. - Staff on-site is not knowledgeable. - Gas tank almost empty. I received credit for the empty gas tank, but I have to spend time finding a gas station. This is not a good customer service. - I bought moving supplies online, but staff couldn't find the order and didn't receive the supplies. Overall, it was a bad experience.John N.

Location is convenient. Did not work with any staff so no strong feelings on the location itself either way. However, I ordered a furniture dolly and furniture pads. I used the self checkout on my phone (not great user experience) and did not realize the items weren't in the truck until after I left. I did my move without them and got charged for them anyway. Guaranteeing the reserved equipment / location when a customer rents 2 weeks in advance. I was given less than a day's notice that I'd be receiving a much smaller moving truck at a location that was 25 miles further away. Speed up the check in process! Speed it up! I've been a regular customer for 10+ years now and I still am required to fill everything out each time I go in. Several years ago, I was a customer and the lovely check in person, I forgot her name (but would never forget her face and wonderful demeanor) every time I came in, my check in lasted about 1 minute. Some way my information was saved, pre-inputted, every time. "Hello, Mr. Prag, Here you go." Then out the door 1 minute later after printing out my contract and getting the truck key. This should be a simple build into the current system based on my cell number, name or something. It shouldn't take 10 minutes to get a truck if you have been a customer previously.ERIC P.

Once I showed up to get my U-Haul, it was smooth sailing and I have no complaints. This was the worst rental experience I've had. The truck was on empty, so I had to immediately start my trip going out of my way so the car wouldn't die on the road. The app kept crashing. I tried updating the odometer reading upon getting the rental (car read around 8991, but app said ~6773), thought it was ok, then the app crashed and wouldn't let me verify if it was ok.Daniel F.

We will pay you $50, plus we will give you free ins and give you discount on mileage went to DC in the midst of Nats home game to pick up the transport. No wonder they wanted me to go to DC. The service at this location is abismal. When I arrived I was not asked for my name or what I needed help with and the staff seemingly looked up a random persons reservation. After I figured out what had happened and got them to find my reservation, I was told my UBox was ready to load outside. I asked how to find it and was told to "just go outside". At the time there were at least boxes in the parking lot so I had to go ask for the staff to do the bare minimum of their job (for the second time). During loading I asked if it was OK to leave and return, since I had more than one carload of belongings. The staff told me that was fine and I had all afternoon to load the box. When I returned the box had been blocked in by other boxes. After I was done loading I had only used one of the 2 reserved boxes. I told the staff I had only used one and they said I would not be charged for the second. I asked for confirmation of this or a receipt and they refused and said I could leave. The next day charges for 2 boxes appeared along with a reservation for another Ubox which I never made for a date after I had moved out of DC. Now I am struggling to get my Box fro the location it was shipped to in California.Sarah M.

This location closes at 7pm but the manager was turning off the lights and cleaning up at 6pm and seemed to be expressing indignation at customers who arrived at even 6:05pm--fifty five minutes before closing. Trust me, I understand wanting to end a long day and close up shop, but you have to keep the hours posted on your door, and it's best to do it with patience and grace rather than making perfectly well-intentioned customers who arrived during business hours feel alienated.PATRICK R.

The employees I dealt with were very nice but the location is either woefully undermanned or management only has a couple of employees who are doing the work. The checkout process was fine, a bit more labor intensive than your average car rental but fine. Automation doesn't speed up processes if it still requires manual inputs from employees. I returned the vehicle at 5pm and the return garage was backed up to the street. It took about 20 minutes of waiting in line to talk to someone at the front desk. Two people were working the desk/floor but each interaction seemed to take a while (computer issues?). Once I got to the desk, she was very nice and ended up having to move all of the trucks herself to clear some room. Seems like someone should have been manning the garage to clean and move vehicles.JAMES K.

I was told I had access from 5am-10pm, and was given a security card to get into the storage facility during those times that the office wasn't open. When I came to the facility at 9:45pm one night and tried to get in, my card wouldn't work. The biggest issue I had was the fact that I was chatged $50 to cut MY lock off with materials I'm sure they keep on hand. While I support training a new employee, my recent experience was so unsatisfactory that I had to walk out without a satisfactory experience. Leading up to my move out, I called Uhaul several times to ensure that I would be out in time to not have to pay for the month of October. Each time, I could not reach the local office, and was sent to the national hotline. They would tell me they had no power to do anything, but they would send a note to the local manager, and he said he would call me back the next day. He never called back, and I was charged for the entire month despite moving out 1 day into that month's contract. I was out of town leading to the move out and could not personally go into the local office, so the fact that I could not reach it beforehand by phone is inexcusable, and resulted me paying an extra $200 that I should neve have had too. I hope Uhaul actually takes this seriously and refunds me for that last month, because it is entirely the fault of the local and national staff that I had this charge and would never recommend their service to anyone.Samuel J. | Overall Experience

The staff was wonderful. I interacted with the general manager while checking in and out and she was very kind. The amount of paperwork needed to rent a unit was ridiculous. Three phone numbers and two addresses? Really? Not to mention everything I filled out online didn't get transferred so the poor GM had to ask me and type everything in again. So inefficient. Lastly, the website advertises a free lock. It is $9.99, which definitely isn't free. The price is good, I just dislike false advertising. Overall, I'd use again. The building was clean, odor free, and seems secure. I did appreciate that each individual unit is alarmed and that there were plenty of carts.Amber V. | Overall Experience

While generally my experience was good, I was extremely disappointed to see how U-Haul is handling COVID-19 and related safety precautions. When I went into the office to close out my account, only one employee was wearing a mask. One of the women behind the helping customers didn't even seen to have a mask nearby. Three men wearing U-Haul shirts also came in while I was there, and they all had their masks around their chin and did not cover their faces the entire time they were in the building. In addition, two people ahead of me in line weren't wearing masks either, and no staff member asked them to put one on. As I'm sure you know, it is against the law in DC not to wear in public during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fact that the staff chose not to be respectful to the health of clients--including clients like me who are pregnant and therefore in a riskier group--is highly unprofessional. An associate over the phone assured me that the space I was set to rent would be spacious enough to fit a 1 bedroom apartment plus some extra space. When I got to my unit I was not only furious to see the small space but furious with the unit itself. In my spot, there is a large pillar on the side which has taken up a good chunk of space. I am paying almost $200 and I wasn't even given a space that was entirely empty - don't understand that logic. I do not plan to overstay my original agreement and will be moving out my belongings after the 2 months I originally signed for. I will look for another storage facility in the surrounding area next time. The worst experience of my life. I will never recommend anyone at that facility. Terrible customer service and infested with rodents issues it distryed everything I own. I went to explain that to store they just threw a pamphlet at me and told me to call the claim in and asked me if they wanted me to sweep my unit out. They had no sympathy.
