This is the second time in this location where the staff is downright disrespectful and very unprofessional. I made a 10:30 am cargo van reservation online, Dec. 1st and received a confirmation that same day. I arrived at this location, tried to use my mobile app to check out the van for my reservation, and was told to see an attendant inside at the desk something I tried avoiding because of a previous interaction. I went inside to the desk; there were 5 employees behind the counter goofing off and arguing with each other--no one acknowledged I was standing at the counter. I said, excuse me, I am trying to take out the van I reserved for my move. They all turned to look at me as if I was doing something wrong by speaking up. The woman who started begrudgingly helping me was very unprofessional. She said she was not scheduled to come into 11 am and that she just walked in the door and sat down (most were doing the same), lounging in the chairs, women with their legs apart, and like they were in front of their televisions at home--so disrespectful and disgusting. If she didn't start work until a specific time, she should have kept that to herself; I'm the customer. I asked if I could have the manager's name, and the same woman begrudgingly working with me said, I am; Is there a problem? I said, of course, and explained that I had reserved a van for a move, etc. She said, yeah, all of our vans are out. I mentioned my reservation again, and she said the vans were all out. I inquired as to why my reservation was made if you all did not have enough equipment to rent; she said because we can't tell people when to bring the vans back. Again, so disrespectable, especially coming from a manager. When someone rents a truck for a move, everything has to line up; first, having the truck, I reserved to pick up on time because moving in and out of buildings in DC and for the most part anywhere else, you need to schedule and reserve elevators and loading docks for each location. Of course, it was visible they could careless, there was no an apology. It was almost like they relished in my situation. I wish I could have had a friend video record this entire exchange because it was so abhorrent, to say the least. I have rented trucks and bought products from U-Haul many times and was never treated like I was on Saturday. Also, before reserving the truck, I looked at a few storages units, and that interaction was just as bad; I signed up with Public Storage across the street and down a few blocks because I did not want to deal with the rudeness, unprofessional attitude from your employees. It was all the same faces on Saturday as my previous visit. An all-around horrible experience. I guess these are the only people that apply for these jobs, so customers have to deal with it or go somewhere else; so disappointing.David S.
The staff is not very friendly. So I'm still waiting on my final receipt to be emailed . I've already inquired about this twice. Unfortunately the only reason that we use this location is because it's less than a mile from our house and we like to save on mileage if we need to rent one of the vehicles but the staff most definitely needs a class in customer service.JAZESA R.
I was verbally assaulted on the lot and in the store by an employee named Bruce at South Capitol Street. I called the police because the Manager Nikita Settles had trouble restraining him. The D.C. police officer waited until I could leave your store safely. Nikita Daniels told me her General Manager Amit Thanki would do nothing because she has tried to use progressive discipline in the past . I called his cell phone at 301 648 3463 and got no reply. the app check in was really hard to use, slow, and required identify verification that i was not prepared for (as in was not carrying a passport and i didn't really want to bother another person to do the verification). the van had clearly been smoked in and that was pretty gross. the return process was much easier than the pickup. the pickup took 45 minutes, which totally cut into the reserved rental period. i ordered furniture pads but they were not in the van and i was still charged for them even though we made due without.Katherine S.

I was guaranteed to be able to pick my truck up at 6am using my phone, but the location had not prepared the truck for me. Luckily, there were people in the office earlier than it opened who were able to help me, but it was stressful and I had to wave them down to get access to my truck. Ultimately the employees were very helpful and nice but I am disappointed that my truck was not ready as guaranteed, when I had movers arriving at my home at 7am.BRENNAN S.

The truck smelled like cigarette smoke, the driver's door only shut when slammed, there was an engine light on, and the truck seemed stuck in a low gear the whole time. The truck was parked in a very tight indoor space and there was no help to pick up rented equipment or navigate getting the truck out. I signed up for mobile check out, but had to go inside and re-establish the entire agreement, provide my DL again, and provide THREE contact numbers. The staff were rude and unhelpful. They provided minimal return information -- three of us returning at 5:30 pm helped each other figure out how to return in the app, where to park, and where the key box was. This could be a VERY easy experience if you use the app and barcodes on vehicle windows (like Zipcar) to skip the unhelpful agents and provide clear after hours return instructions.KARLA D.

When I arrived at the location I was told it was passed 630p and that they may not be able to rent the truck to me. Although the staff was very helpful, they advised me the system would not allow them to check me in. I told the agent waiting on me that I had finished everything already on line. The customer service agent told me I should have transition my transaction to an online only rental. What I find confusing is that the hours of operation were until 7pm. And it was not clear that if I arrived at 630p at the location, they were not going to be able to finish the transaction. Uhaul should make very clear to the customer doing the rental on line that if not completed, even if the location is still open, the staff at the location will not be able to finish the transaction if the costumer arrives within 30 minutes of closing.Alfonso T.

Virtually impossible to get a 26' truck in there. There was a NO TRUCKS RIGHT TURN at P Street. So I had no way to know how to get there. Driving in narrow streets was not fun.WILLIAM B.
I was worried when booking for a moving container and did a lot of research. Since *all* of the companies had plenty of negative reviews on line, they all seemed risky, so I decided to take a leap and go with the one that made the most sense for me on paper, U-Box. It was by far the cheapest and most convenient. Fortunately, it was a great experience from start to finish. The U-boxes were available when promised at the closest U-Haul to my home. The boxes were clean and in good condition, there were plenty of blankets, and the movers i selected were top-notch (they knew the U-Box system well and were efficient in packing the boxes). The delivery to my new location was about 2 days later than promised, but fortunately for me that was inconsequential. When I opened the U-boxes at the new location, they were in great shape.Amy M.

I was unable to get the van out because of how it was parked until someone rented and moved a van. Returned the van next to the â€œreturn signâ€ but was yelled at by an employee to move around the building and no staff member was willing to go outside to check me in, read odometer, etc. They wanted to do it later which would have kept my meter running.ANDREW M.
There's room for improvement at this location. For example, no one bothered to show us where the trucks were located, gate didn't work, preselected equipment wasn't loaded into truck, keys weren't in truck and checkin Lady made me walk back to truck multiple times when she could have been way more helpful. But want to point out Ronita Morgan who went above and beyond in helping us even though she wasn't the one who checked us in. For example, Ronita saw us looking for truck and assisted with keys. We called to get an extension and got hung up on. We ultimately got the truck back to location on time despite the delays that caused from the morning check in and Ronita assisted with the truck return and greeted us with a smile which was much appreciated since moves are always stressful and having someone at this location actually are and be helpful should be the standard. I have used this U-Haul location twice now and am happy to have moved away just so that I never have to step foot in there again. The first time was 3 years ago and the location did not have gas in any of the trucks and I had to wait over an hour for them to get gas for the trucks. During this move they first changed my reservation time and then, after checking in, when I showed up to pick-up my truck they said there were none available. It turns out they had one that was being used the next day so they tried to cancel my reservation where I would be dropping it off 5 miles away. Again, I had checked-in, gotten a confirmation of check-in, and they still tried to not provide me with a truck with zero notification. It took about an hour to sort this out which put us significantly behind in my move. The workers are unprofessional and the location is a mess. Well Bottom Line We Must Think If The Future for all mankind...and U - Don't or hasn't given anything back to the community not the community that they are station in but the surrounding community's the poor areas .those area where a donation from a big company like U Haul would be Greatly Appreciated.. am not asking that u give this city a dime but that u put something in community's that can use any kind of enlighting ..advanced math books that kids in the down trotting areas don't see any educational Tool hand sanitizer masks ...give back ..get in y'all's board room and put together a think tank crew or SEND FOR ME.. I cannot remember the name of the woman who helped me (black woman with braids and red highlights, said she was the manager of the storage part of the experience, i think her name was four letters long), but she was awesome. super friendly, helpful, fast and was able to remember me when I came back later in the day to take care of an issue. she was also helping out all the junior staff around her like a boss. While personnel was helpful to get me the storage and quick to process, the Loading Docks "where not useful" because according the the personnel "we don't use those, those are parking for the transit office" which I found laughable.
