Truck had mechanical issues that almost resulted in an accident. While In drive at a light the truck started to accelerate out of control. I had to drop the truck into neutral to prevent driving into traffic. This happened twice while I had the truckJoel G.

My experience at the Norwood location was okay. Upon arrival, I had already reserved a 9-foot van. Once I received my keys from the customer service representative, I proceeded to where the customer service representative instructed me the van would be located. Once I arrived at the location, I noticed that the truck was nowhere to be found. After consulting with the customer representative, they stated that they did not know where the van was and that they would provide another van. I said, " okay" no problem." I received my new keys and proceeded to the same area as the new van was located in the same area as the "ghost van." Upon arrival, I was faced with two issues; the new van was blocked by a 10 foot U-Haul truck, and my van was drenched with snow from the previous day's snowstorm. Now I had to go back, ask the customer representative to move the 10-foot truck, and then once the customer representative moved that truck, I had to clean off the new van as I did not want to run the risk of being pulled over due to snow trailing off from the roof of the truck. Given that I assumed that the van would be cleaned outwardly, I did not have the proper snow cleaning tools. Hence, I had to drive to my home, which is about 5 minutes from the u-Haul location, so no big deal-retrieve the proper cleaning tools and clean the sides and the roof off that had an immense amount of snow. Oh, and by the way, this all took upwards of an hour to complete all of the things listed above; I was late to a moving function that I had scheduled. I typically do not go on a long soliloquy. Still, I thought it would be best to note my issues to have the staff better prepare trucks for customer use and provide a better experience for future customers.GARRETT B.

I was supposed to get a call the night before pickup confirming my reservation, but didn't. I had done online check-in before pickup, but that wasn't in the system. The overall computer wasn't working well, and the person working there wasn't very friendly or willing to do much to assist me. The person in the yard was great, however.David B.

I was charged a $2 State Rental Surcharge which should ONLY be assessed when the rental exceeds 12 hours. My rental was for only a few hours. I called UHaul and was told that they always charge this fee. I was not refunded the $2 fee.MARY H.

I was using the uhaul app for pick-up and continued to have issues taking pictures of the fuel gauge and mileage. The fuel gauge was 3/4 full. The agent told he would note the 3/4 tank for return to the Ayer location. However the Ayer agent informed me it should be full upon return not 3/4. I was charged $40.85 for the difference. I called to dispute the the $40.85 and the customer service agent told me she needed proof from a cell phone pic which i did not have since the app was useless. She informed me the truck had 7/8 tank so i would receive a $20 credit. So it cost me $20.85 because the agent mislead me and the app malfunctioned.PAUL L.

Nothing at all could be improved. The crew at this location is amazing!!! I moved slowly over the course of the past two weeks. The big day was yesterday. The Manager, Barbara was knowledgable and hands-on. She processed/connected my trailer rental and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I returned it on a Saturday afternoon and she was outside where 5 large trucks had just returned. She was directing her staff so all of us were being assisted. The staff member who disconnected my trailer was efficient and had good customer service skills.JANET C.
The check-in did not accurately obtain and document the mileage for my rental. 77714 MI on pickup and 77760 MI on return. Poorly documenting the mileage would result in inappropriate charging of my my credit card for the service. This can't be the standard operating procedure at the drop off U-Haul location. I had to get a picture of the mileage in order to ensure appropriate Chargers. I'm going to dispute it with my bank until it is clarifying. This cannot be the standard operating procedure all of the return location.Ricky G.

There always seems to be a shortage of help and it takes quite a bit of time to get on the road. The staff at the Norwood branch are top notch and are very helpful. Barbara has been trying to resolve an issue for me and hopefully I don't have to wait much longer.JOHN L.
I returned 1 dozen moving blankets in their original sealed and unused condition. We used only the other dozen that I rented. I asked at the office when I returned for a credit for the unused blankets. The staff said I needed to hear from the manager and took my information and phone number. I am hoping to hear soon from the Uhaul location's manager. Hopefully she will approve my request. Overall a very good experience.Andrew P.

The storage facility overall did not feel clean, the elevator was often not working, the card pass to get in was difficult to get to work (eventually the door was just left open and that was better). In terms of staff, I just felt sorry for them because there was mostly just one person there so how could they manage the rentals and help people in the store or help with issues getting into the storage facility? They were always nice, but assistance was so slow I sometimes just left and all I wanted to do was have help with my card to get in. Whenever I talked with someone the phone, they were very helpful and my check-out was easy.MARY M. | Overall Experience

Very unhelpful employees. Not willing to help in any way, why can't a customer drop the keys at the service desk on return rather than standing outside in the rain taking photos of the mileage and gas. I don't get it? The location we chose when making the reservation was.5 miles from our home. On short notice (night before) the location was changed to a a location 10 miles away. In addition there was a problem locating our reservation at the new location as they had no record of the reservation change to their location. This delayed the process further. It was also not clear that we had to create an account in order to drop off our truck rental last evening thus complicating the return process by mobile phone.Dan T.

A recurrent issue is attaching the trailer chains to my Audi. I understand this is due to the hitch design of Audi and Volkswagen vehicles. This location works at the problem and does solve it. They do not give up and work together to show each other how to deal with this different hitch design. I like the staff at this location.Janet C.
This location did not have the adaptor to connect the lights to my SUV that has a factory hitch and light system. Toyota is a very common vehicle. I had to go home and return with the adaptor off of my trailer so I can rent yours. What do people do that don't own a trailer. and have access to the adaptor. You should at least sell adapters??? While the individuals at the Norwood location went above and beyond customer service wise, the UHaul central call center did not. 1) I called and booked my hitch to be installed at UHaul Natick as the rep told me they had the hitch in stock. Upon calling the Natick location directly, it was discovered they didn't have the hitch and it would take 2 weeks for it to arrive. I cancelled that appointment. 2) I called the UHaul central call center again (I think it was in Texas) and they told me that UHaul Norwood has the hitch in stock. I asked the representative to confirm the hitch was in stock, explaining what just happened with the Natick location and he refused and told me that he is 100% confident Norwood has it in stock. 3) I arrived in Norwood to drop my car off and the hitch was not in stock as promised. The woman who manages the store went above and beyond customer service wise. She tried calling several other locations but was unable to get someone on the phone to confirm availability. She they stated that she would stop at several other Uhaul location and try and find the hitch and would call me in the morning to let me know if she was successful. She found the hitch at another location and I was able to have it installed because of her. If not for her going the extra mile, I would have had to once again arrange for transportation to have the hitch installed. While I commend her, I am still disappointed with the service of the call center.Dan H.

The second location was great but I don't know if I would ever use U-haul again never mind recommend it to a friend. This is the second time this year I had horrible experience with my rental pick up l, it got messed up due to U-haul employees (I was suppose to pick up my rental at (bargain outlet in Walpole MA 02081) using my mobile. they never staged my rental I had to sit and wait on hold for an hour to get a hold of customer service and just to be sent to a different location that is open so I can pick up a rental I was 2 hours behind My schedule by the end of it and i ended up having to pay my help for 2 hours of doing nothing. This is not professional at all. Not happy with the experience I have had the last couple times with U-haulHamza E.

I dealt with Jose and Alan and rented a pickup truck. Despite my having a mishap with a truck mirror, I found Jose and Alan to be wonderfully personable and of great cheer. The location is doing a major staff overhaul and is staffing up with some new folks, so be patient while they fill in any staff shortages. In the meanwhile Jose and Alan are doing the work of 6 people and doing it well. Treat them well!Mark G.

The storage set up is terrible. So many stairs that you have to lug your belongings up. The elevator is pointless because there are still more stairs. Got a free month with the truck but went to Planet Storage nearby because it’s all on 1 level.Maura S. | Overall Experience
