My hitch wiring was installed in my rear spare tire storage compartment of my SUV. I was not told upfront that it would not be installed under the vehicle by the hitch itself. I would of had it installed at the dealership had I known. I am really ticked off that I was not told of the installer's intentions. I needed the plug by the hitch. I did not want it inside my car. He had no idea of my intentions for use. When I questioned his installation, replied â€œthat's how we do it here.â€david M.

I didn't have the best experience. I had a hitch put on my vehicle and it was problematic from the scheduling through the installation. I made the appointment through the U-Haul website for a few days out. I showed up at the location to find out that my appointment had been pushed out a week. I did get an email confirming this but I didn't pay attention to the day change because I had to reason to. Come to find out, this new date U-Haul set isn't even the actual appointment day. Someone at the store has to reach out via phone call after the parts have arrived to create the final appointment. Fast forward, I get a call at the end of that day that my hitch has been installed but the wiring harness is not compatible with my vehicle even after an employee confirmed that it was. The only reason I'm rating so highly is because one employee went way out of his was to go get the right hitch from another store while another employee helped me order a new harness from a different company on the spot. Much of this confusion was out of the hands of the employees at the store level and I commend them for their customer service efforts.Michael S.
When I got the unit, I purchased one of the U-Haul locks that are sold at the counter. Once I put my belongings in the unit and locked it, the lock broke and broke one of the keys off inside. When I talked to the staff, they stated they could not do anything. When I called them on their bluff, they would not work with my schedule to have their locksmith come out and remove THEIR crappy lock. Thankfully, I was able to get my belongings out after trying for two months to get it off. My engineer friend was able to get the lock off and discovered that the lock was designed to break purposely. I would not recommend this staff or their units, even though the units themselves are nice and convenient. I will choose another facility and my own lock next time.CHRISTOPHER M. | Overall Experience
I was givien a 24 hr rental rented equipment at 7 am on. 9/4 told mgr I needed equipment for 24 hours mgr told me I needed to have everything back before 9 am to avoid charges â€¦ I brought equipment back at 4 am I got charged for 1 day at 33.00 plus another 5 this is unacceptable I did my end â€¦.EDWARD C.

Manager proactively recommended another wiring harness after I had ordered one to be installed. Originally ordered harness would have impacted the wiring warranty on the car. MUCH appreciated! Would be nice to have a waiting area for customers who have to wait for service.William M.
Joy took excellent care of my trailer rental needs and went the extra mile to help me with a pick up truck. It was very busy but she was so friendly and even tho she and another assistant were the only ones there, she took care of your customers with ease and a smile! Just my opinion but on a Sat when a lot of people are renting, I think you should have more employees to serve your customers. Joy is a true asset!!Donice K.

Checking in online for your rented item is not a quick process. Start well ahead of the time you need your equipment so you don't have to wait. You'll have to give them the name and number of someone to contact in case they can't get in touch with you. If the person you give them doesn't answer their call, this will delay getting your equipment.Julie A.

Terrible customer service. I showed up to drop off my car only for Jeremiah to tell me that the parts I order a month ago haven't arrived. A call to let me know would have been sufficient. They told me they will call me Monday when it was supposed to arrive however didn't receive a call, by Wednesday I called to check and of course they didn't pickup and went straight to customer service. They told me that the part are there and they will message the location to contact me to schedule the installation however no call. By Friday I call again and customer service schedule the installation for Saturday. I don't mind the delay due delivery but it would be nice if Jeremiah would have CALL me and explain.Francisco B.

The female that checked me into my storage unit was not helpful whatsoever. She checked me into a unit that had a lock on it and the only option I had was to move all of my stuff upstairs into a unit that was way more expensive and then move my stuff back downstairs after a cheaper one opened up. After we asked if those were actually unlocked she said " I don't know. Feel free to go check." And then we told her that we were about to be $90 for a storage unit I didn't even want and just told her to cancel my subscription, then she stated she'll "gladly" cancel it in a rude tone. I couldn't even tell you her name because she never told me and wasn't wearing a name tag. We also got stuck and couldn't get out because there were 2 trucks trying to return their rental truck and she was taking forever to check them in. They sat there for at least 20 minutes and they were still sitting there waiting on her when we left. Extremely rude customer service. We made virtual reservations, however, the website put us in a loop with adding a contact person. I made the reservation and my husband was driving the truck and I put him as my other contact. When it came to picking up truck it kept asking for another contact. So we put in another contact and it asked for another. By this point we were frustrated, we went inside to get help. The women working desk even had issues with the system. They got kicked out 4x had to re-enter all our information 2-3x. Then ano th er woman had to come over and do it. Even though I did online, they still had to run my credit card twice. All while this was going on, the 1st woman that was helping us, made it known she was hungry and she was going to order some food, and she went over to another computer to look up menus. Another customer walked in and there was no greeting just â€œwhat do you need?â€ Just everything about the customer service was lacking and checkin process was atrocious. We got there at 1:55p to pick up our truck rental and didn't leave until 2:30. 35min to get someone checked in with keys, is ridiculous. Why even offer virtual checkin if it doesn't work and you still have to go inside to get keys? The whole software system needs revamping.John M.
The truck's dashboard drink holder was very dirty. And so were the floorboards. Would've been nice to get into a cleaner truck. Also, the associates just didn't look like they enjoyed their job.Mark C.

The enclosed trail I rented had a leak in the roof. Looking from the back inside, it was on the left toward the far side of the trailer. I did notify the rep when I returned it. I hope it gets fixed. I have an open trailer, I was transporting furniture, so I rented the enclosed one. It doesn't do a whole lot of good if it leaks.RONALD M.

In the past two weeks I have made reservations for a truck to move my son at college. BOTH TIMES I have shown up to pick up the truck only to be told that the truck I had reserved was not available. This resulted in me having to be on the phone for two hours with a uhaul representative scrambling to find a truck and racing across town to find an alternative means to move my son. On the first occasion the truck that was provided was too small and the second time the only available truck was way too big, making it difficult to maneuver around the small streets of Auburn Alabama and also doubling my fuel expenditures. Uhaul as a company should be embarrassed. You are 0 for 2 as far as being able to simply provide the equipment that was reserved in a timely manner. I will never be using this company again for my truck rental needsBritton C.

Transmission was bad. Truck broke down on us on the interstate. Impossible to get through to customer service on phone. On hold forever, took a few times trying to request roadside assistance online. After waiting a long time for someone to come check it out, we had to take an Uber home for $110 because the truck was not drivable. Got a call the next day from the office asking why I did not return the truck the previous day. I explained the situation and was told that the manager would call me the next day. I did not get a call, but I did get the receipt. I received a credit for $75 which left a charge of about $40. But I am still out $110 for the Uber, and the inconvenience of sitting on the side of the road for over an hour because the truck I was provided was no good.Erik J.

They charged me an extra $17 for gas, despite me filling it up to exactly where I left it. I could not reach the Pelham UHaul to ask them about this overcharge despite calling the number on my invoice. I was instead sent to corporate UHaul and put on hold. While the equipment ran fine, unless this overcharge is rectified, my rating will have to stay as 1 star.WYATT R.

I have rented from this location several times. Never have I had a unit have a box spring left in the unit an not swiped out. In the hall way was a very dirt old mattress. It was overall okay, but the temperature definitely went above what was intended for the climate-controlled rooms (which is what I was paying for), there were always a lot of dead insects in the hallways, and no matter what I did--even being properly signed in and out each time--that alarm would CONSTANTLY go off when I unlocked my storage unit. This is a rating for the facility itself. The girls up front took a situation that was horrible by the UHaul.com AND UHaul call center, and turned it in to a pleasant experience. By a miracle, they were able to find the unit I requested and was extremely helpful. For UHaul having a website and a phone number that is directed to a call center, they are NOT unified with the processes and the procedures of each individual locations. If a location is not able to hold a storage unit, then the option should not be provided on the website. This can cause a very big mess when you have a truck of 26' that needs one of the biggest units and it not be available, causing the customer to pay more for a late fee or another day with the truck to search for another storage unit. When calling the call center they will make promises but not back up the promises with the actual location. So makes the location look inadequate when really it is the overhead call center not verifying with the workers on the ground floor. The problem we had was I had a confirmed reservation for the largest storage unit that was made about 2 weeks prior to the arrival. When we arrived we were told that such a unit was NOT available now nor had it been available when we made the original reservation.
