Forklift driver called out the day I was supposed to access my box. I had called days ahead to make sure it was pulled and it had not been. No one on staff could confirm whether it would be ready the next day or not, and the manager's only response was â€œfingers crossed.â€ Waited in line for an hour to find out I couldn't access my belongings. Came back the next morning and it took over an hour to pull my u box before I could access it. What's the point of scheduling access if they don't pull the u box until the moment you arrive?Mark H.

The in person experience was great to problem solve -- the details of when we could access the ubox, and the overall logistics were very not clear on the site or when we called. It was also really unclear that each process related to the ubox (such as delivery to house vs shipping over to another state) went under a different reservation number. Contract said use mobile app to pick up vehicle, then at the end of check-in would be given a code to access key from lockbox. However, the app did not proceed per contract. It said to pick up key at front counter. But get this. .. the building was closed. Our pick up was scheduled for 7pm. The building closed at 7. Reprehensible. Called customer service and was on hold for 40 min. Then call was disconnected. Used online chat and finally they were able to arrange a pick up at another location which was open. All in all -- What should have been less than 1/2 hour process, was a 3-1/2 hour process. NEVER AGAIN UHAUL. ALSO -- Got warning on dashboard truck needed oil. Went to a service station. It was TWO QUARTS low on a 2021 vehicle. Returned vehicle via mobil app so ws unable to request reimbursement. First of all, it is not clear where to check in for storage facilities. We were yelled at by several employees when we drove onto the uhaul Lot. We asked for assistance on where to park and where to go and no one would help. We circled the block a couple times and after parking on the street, found our way back to the office, right where we had been told we couldn't park! We had a confirmed reservation for a storage unit, but we were told they were all sold out and our reservation meant nothing. What a joke. Horrible experience! Unprofessional rude staff. Ubox hours differ from the rest of the facility but that was not posted anywhere nor was I notified when scheduling access to my Ubox. I waited an hour with the people only to be told that I was waiting in the wrong building. When I was provided directions to the correct building, there was no entrance nor were they open or aware I was on my way. They could not find my Ubox till about 20 minutes later delaying me and my movers. My ubox was also guaranteed for delivery for 8/13 and I was never notified that it would be delayed till I called and waited on hold for 45 minutes to ask where my box was. I had to reschedule my moving date and the $50 per day doesn't even begin to cover the monetary costs of the delay.Courtney L.

It's not clear for ubox that different parts of the entire process go under different contracts, thus different reservation numbers. I had confusion with U-Haul staff when trying to problem solve and I was just referring to 1 reservation number when I should have been referring to multiple. I booked a Ubox at one location then the day before my loading date got told there was none available at that location and I should go to THIS location - fine, whatever... but when I got there they had no idea I was coming even though the staff I talked to on the phone said I was now confirmed for this location. Didn't have a box assigned to me and had me load my stuff into the wrong box and then made me re-load it into a different box. I don't think it's the fault of any individual staff member (those who helped me were very kind) but it seems like the system of communication between different Uhaul locations is terrible and that's really concerning for a company where one of the big selling points is how many locations they have and supposedly being able to go to any of them.Adina K.

They left metal brackets on the four Uboxes which effectively made them impossible to get into. I spent three hours on hold trying to get resolution and never got a phone call. I got one text message asking for photos of the bracket which I sent but never heard from anyone again. I ended up going ten miles to the hardware store, bought $40 worth of tools and spent over two hours prying and ripping the brackets off the boxes. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of any customer service but you're damn quick to bill me for services (not) rendered. I feel I should get some kind of compensation for the frustration, cost and effort required to fix your mistakes and without that I will bad mouth Uhaul to anyone who wants to know. Peace of mind is huge for the customer. It would be great to have more accurate and frequent updates of where the box is located. At the least, customer representatives should have the ability to see which checkpoints the box has passed through. I think scanning the barcode at a checkpoint should be relatively easy to implement and significantly improve the customer experience.John L.

I didn't like the way manger handle the situation. We gave him proof that we have a month free: to reimburse the money back to the account. He just walked around and keep saying I'll get to it, and said ooh we don't have unit for free here. We spoke to customer service and they did say we can get our refund, they even asked us to speak to the manager there. It turns out it's the same manager giving us hard time. The young lady was not helpful. I stay there literally for an hour waiting for the manager to get back to me. He still didn't get to it. So this is my last time coming to this U-Haul place. The process went well with the drop off and pick up in Brookline. Unfortunately, I had a a very bad experience with the delivery in Birmingham. First of all I was told my boxes would be delivered Sunday, July 21. I called the Friday before and was confirmed for Sunday and was told I would be called on Saturday. I didn't hear anything on Saturday so I called on Sunday. When I called on Sunday I was told there were no drivers and they didn't have a delivery date. I called back on Monday. I was treated like I was a bother for calling. I was told I they didn't know when they would have driver and didn't know when my stuff would be delivered. I called my contact back in Brookline who said unfortunately they had no control and gave me the manager's number in Birmingham. I called back and spoke to the manager (who happened to be the person I spoke to prior). She then told me she was not able to schedule due to me â€œcalling so muchâ€. I received a call late Monday stating my stuff would arrive on Wednesday. On Wednesday at noon I had not heard from anyone. When I called they told me â€œIt will arrive anytime from now until 9pmâ€. To me, the lack of communication was unacceptable. In addition the tone I received from everyone I spoke to was unacceptable. I was given another managers name and number (Scott 205-789-0992). I left him a voicemail during this and didn't hear anything back. On July 14th I submitted a Facebook message stating my concerns about not know when I would receive my boxes. I received a response stating someone would get in touch with me (reference #3282385). I still have not heard from anyone. When I received my boxes I called that evening to schedule a pick up. I was told the person who schedules was gone and she would call me back the next day. The next day I had not heard anything and called. I was told she was not there. When I finally got a hold of someone the next say I was again told they have no idea when their driver would be working next week. I feel this is unacceptable and they should not be allowed to do this. I was told a date of delivery. I was not told this was changed and had to spend hours trying to figure out where my stuff was at and when it would be delivered. Again, the service in Brookline was stellar. The service I received in Birmingham was unacceptable. I do not feel I should have been talked to and treated the way I was. I am not sure why I am wasting my time with this review as I am sure this will be ignored like all the other ones. I had called 4 different providers prior to selecting UHaul. I wish I had gone with another service. I will never use this provider again.Sarah K.

The crew is very rude.! I has been told in U haul Michigan that once I arrive in Massachusetts, I return the trailer and leave my car there until I come back to return the truck. I have been driving for 18 hours from Michigan to Massachusetts and was very tried. I arrived there to drop off the trailer. After, the trailer was taken a lady who is working there screamed at me to get my car and the truck -that still have my furniture- out of the property. I told her that I am waiting for a friend who is going to drive my car. She said I have to move out now. She drove and parked the U haul truck on the street and handed me the key.! Your online + phone customer service is atrocious. It wouldn't matter if you could get a local person on the phone but the way calls are routed makes this impossible. I tried to communicate about a mover, I'd hired through Moving Help, getting hurt to let you know this could affect the time I'd return the truck and was granted no grace for needing to wait for another crew member to arrive. When I tried to speak with an online rep, I waited for an hour with no reply at all. I left my personal keys in the truck and couldn't reach anyone at the final drop off office to see if they'd be set aside for me. Not great!Nelly A.

The unit I reserved did not exist. This has shown me that U-Haul is a crooked and disorganized company. Associates Diana and Shania were very helpful; they saved the day. Jim made the entire process more difficult, for both me as a customer and for the other employees. Jim did not not show me where my unit was, and it took me 20 minutes to find it, and it was still locked when I found it. When I finally had someone (Shania) come unlock it, it was too small. Diana and Shania went above and beyond, got me a unit that worked, showed me how to use the elevator, gave me a month free, and just in general were sympathetic and down to earth. I rented a storage unit on 6/15/21 and reserved a 15' footer truck for 6/16/21 today 6/16/21 the service was horrible. the first truck #DC1211K) sputtered and jerked also the check light was on!!!!!! I turned right around brought it back complained to MR. Jimmy Diamond, told me that was normal for that year and model. I expressed how uncomfortable I was to drive a truck with a check engine light on and ask for another truck. I was told to wait in line to exchange the truck. Was never given an access card and when I was given one it didn't work. Climate controlled area is extremely hot and there are flies everywhere. Not a hit on the store direct, nearly as much as Uhual as a coorperation. there seems to be a repetetive issue with coorperate not communicating with any of the store branches when you call them. And when i say this, I mean they book things with 0% contact to make sure the store has whatever it is your looking for. This strings deeper than one interaction with them, My company uses them all the time, and we have ultimately decided to never use them again because of the lack of communication between branches. If I had to guess, Id say out of 20 times we use uhaul, about 9 of those times goes negative in some way shape or form, mostly due to communication.. The employees at the UHaul at Mass Ave in Boston were incredibly rude, disrespectful and made me feel unsafe. Yelling at me saying they did not have a unit for me, even after showing my confirmation email, was unsettling. This facility always has homeless people hanging out. They wait for the bathroom even with the card access reader required. The stay in the office make you feel like you are not there. You wait in line forever. When you approach the counter you are not greeted.,the last time I was there, when an employee freed up at the counter, I walked over and stared at her while she was doing something. The day I cleared out my unit I waited in line for a long time and left because the wait was so long. I left and called and was in the queue for over 25 minutes! Our service with Jasmine was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful to us. However, after I came back a few hours after checking in to store some boxes there was an awful smell coming from a storage until down the hall from me. I believe it was #3501. There were fruit flies everywhere and the gentleman I saw opening that storage until was carry dirty empty bottles which the cause of the fruit flies. He was also yelling. I noticed the later hours inside the storage until is not safe. There's a lot of random people inside the storage unload area that were not unloading. I felt unsafe when I was there. Hi, The girl at the desk was untrained and very stressed out. We have a room already. We wanted an empty room right across from ours. It has a green tag and a green lock. The girl insisted that a green lock meant the room was not available. I have been coming here for years. Red tag + second lock = renter behind on rent, no tag + 1 lock = normal room already rented, green tag + green lock = room available to rent. She refused to rent to us. She kept asking what size room we wanted. We said the exact room number. She kept saying it was not available. I said look me up on the computer. She insisted that a second room was a separate account. (What business would do that?) She gave me a form to fill out. It was in Spanish. She was very agitated and would not make eye contact. I said a green lock means it is available. She said a green lock means there is a problem with the room. The girl at the other station said she could help us. She looked me up in the computer and we completed the rental for the exact room I wanted with no problem. The first girl was standing on her chair yelling at people to get back in line. The poor girl needs training in the details of U-Haul rentals, and in customer relations. Had I net persisted, you would have lost a rental. Later, I was sent a PDF copy of my contract. My Norton virus scanner found a malicious script in the PDF. Your computer is infected.Mark Y. | First Impressions

Had two speakers stolen after leaving them unattended (my fault) for 5 min. The manager states that the vid camera wasn't working and that there weren't any people/cars around and didn't see anything. This statement leads me to believe he didn't bother checking the video, because the place was super crowded (mass exodus from Boston), lots of people and cars were in and out while we were there. He didn't bother to check. (It was too busy for him to check right after it happened - too many people at the counter. He wasn't able to check the video when I asked him about it right after it happened. They were SLAMMED with people trying to store there stuff and get out of Boston (Covid). So when I followed up with pictures of the exact location the speakers weee stolen, etc. he said there was no one around that day and the cameras didn't show anyone.) While my storage unit was well secured and the staff was super helpful, when I emptied out my unit I found that mice had been living in it. I found mice fecal matter all around and on/in my stuff, and several of my books were damaged because mice got into my boxes and chewed on them. I did not have any food in my storage unit. Interactions were as expected but none of the employees were wearing masks. Even out on the sales floor and in the warehouse. Anyone that had a mask had it pulled down to chin. The Manager Ed was pleasant, accommodating and a true believer in customer satisfaction! I felt valued s a consumer as a result of the way in which I was treated by Ed the manager. That is the example I believe he models for his employees. I received excellent service at the register, and after needing some questions and by the manager the other team member cleaned the van I was renting with a smile. To be fair, the office was overcrowded so the employees were overwhelmed. That said, I was given completely unclear directions. I was told that I would not be able to access my locker past 5pm, while the web and subsequent emails have all claimed 24 hour access as a feature of the storage. Being forced out at 5pm meant I was unable to complete my unload and friends and loved ones who had offered to help me were badly inconvenienced.
