Staff inside seems stressed on busy days and can lack helpfulness, which makes them busier than necessary. For example, there was a long line when I arrived to close out rental. I jumped the line to ask if I could close out online and was told "no, go get picture of empty storage container and stand in line." However, I got pictires and uploaded to my account online and closed out without eta ding online.

The move in process was mostly straightforward. The only issue was that we were told a lock would be in the unit waiting for us, but there was no lock. We had to go buy one from the uhaul supply store.

My experience was not great. The U-haul stopped driving in the middle of the highway. It was a scary experience. Both engine and engine oil went on and it started shaking The customer service rep who assisted me on getting a tow truck was kind. I then did not get any follow up. I was also charged $200plus for the tow truck brining to a different location. I called the next day to ask why and the rep said they'd call back with a response and no one has reached back. It's not reasonable to have me pay for rental drop off location fee when the car was towed away.

The front desk was a complete mess. I walked in for a rental (and realized I had rented accidentally from the wrong location). No big deal, I can cancel. I was at the front desk for like 40 minutes while they kept radioing to the back about available vans and searching through keys. The worker who helped me was so fed up with her job, she deep sighed multiple times throughout the interaction. I wasn't told I would be getting an after hours return (but was charged for it). The van gas tank was lower than reported on the form and it obviously hadn't been vacuumed, but I was already late from how long the check in delays and apathy took. Upon returning the van, the online portal did not work (it kept booting me out of the system) and eventually I just dropped my keys and left. What should have only cost $20 (I only used the van for an hour) ended up costing $50. Extremely disappointed and will not be using this location again.

I've been to Mass Ave uhaul so many times, and other uhaul places in MA. This was the worst. The guy was the meanest person for no reason. Zero customer service. I knew what I wanted and was very flexible on size. He helped another customer while at the register with me. He spoke to me like I was a idiot. I also was very uneasy and unhappy with him taking a photo on his phone of my driver's license, but did it without asking me. There was an abundance of someone luggage under the uhaul when I got to it... but it's Mass Ave!! I'm not crawling on the ground to get it, and the very unhappy mean guy inside wasn't going to help me. So I drove over it. Also the inside of the truck looked like coke with multiple mentos inserted, ewww. Throughout the day of moving I kept going back to uhaul 7am nightmare. Worst!

The team there have been super helpful over the past few months - Chris, the GM, was patient and informative. He helped us find the right moving solutions, and when we finally loaded the U-boxes, Drew and the on-site team were reactive and true logistics experts. The neighborhood is super rough but the guys keep their cool and made the whole (several rentals and trips) easy and professional. Huge thanks to the whole team!!

I waited in like for about an hour before someone could help me. When I finally received assistance, the person I was speaking to left for 5 minutes right in the middle of registering me. When I finally found my van (on the street) it had a parking ticket. When I got back to my van, I noticed the front right tire was low on air. When I turned the van on, the message on the dash also mentioned that the front right tire was in need of air. Instead of giving me a new van, all they did was fill up the tire. During me trip, I had to stop 3 times to fill up the tires with air, as it would lose 50 PSI every 30 miles or so.

I rented a cargo van that had tire issues I notified the the employee at the register she was extremely bothered and rude. She was not the only rude and highly unprofessional staff member all of them working in the front desk were extremely unprofessional talking about personal stuff and using profanity instead of helping the line of customers. They also will hand you the key and give you no further instructions. Upon returning the van it was an even worse nightmare. I told an employee that I was returning the van she told me to wait in line to only then tell me that I need to leave the keys in the van. I don't recommend this location to anyone. Go to the one Brighton or Allston. The staff here is all equally unprofessional and unwelcoming.

* The uhaul app would not allow me to reserve a truck for more than 24 hours. * My uhaul in boston changed pickup locations 3 times * I get that scheduling during the Allston christmas is a problem. Some of us tried to work our personal schedules a couple of months in advance, and having uhaul first accept and then change those schedules is really an issue.

The morning I came to load my U-box, my box was moved to a new location with no notice. My reservation was never updated to show that either. When I tried to empty out my box a few days later, there were no employees around so I wandered until I found some sitting in a side office. I then sat there for half an hour while two employees tried to find my U-box despite me giving the recommended 24h notice. A third employee tried to "help" me unload my U-Box despite me repeatedly asking him not to, and then ASKED ME FOR MONEY afterwards. This location has WAY too many issues. Unreliable, unorganized, understaffed, and in a very dangerous part of town. And U-box access is only from 8am-4pm, which is also contrary to their website. The two main(?) employees working with U-boxes are great, but they can't make up for the entire staff.

Although expensive, I got exactly what I paid for, a climate-controlled storage unit with easy and secure access. I retrieved all my belongings that sat in storage for just over 2 years with no issues. Making the payments got to be difficult at times, so I appreciate the expansive patience from Uhaul overall. ¡Gracias!

The staff at this site are excellent. They work very hard and are very knowledgeable about their services and products. Renting a truck back in May was a positive experience. Although the truck I was first assigned would not start, I was quickly provided with a new one. The truck and renting the truck experience was positive. Unfortunately, the storage unit that was rented was met with some challenges. When loading our son's items into the unit, I have to be honest - we felt very unsafe in the facility. There were multiple men that appeared homeless and under the influence walking around the inside and deck area of the facility. One of the men, that appeared under the influence, was trying to sell items to my son and his behavior was very alarming. It just felt unsafe. When returning a few months later, I was shocked to see mouse traps almost every few inches throughout the entire facility. Upon emptying our unit yesterday, we found mouse droppings all over our son's personal items. We had to discard many items, as a result.

I rented a truck on Sun. for 9 a.m. I waited in line for 90 min. and had at least another hour to wait to pick up a truck. The location is significantly understaffed. I had to cancel and book a new vehicle for Monday, which was a major inconvenience for everyone involved with the move. In addition, UHaul needs separate lines for customers who reserve vehicles online vs customers who don't. There is a significant wait differential for customers who don't pre-book, and the check-in process is very inefficient. Also, if UHaul doesn't have enough employees scheduled to check customers out, the on-line system should not allow reservations to be made. There were at least 40 ppl in line on Sun. who could not pick up their rentals due to only 1 customer service rep working that day. it was chaos and inexcusable.

My reservation was for 930am on Sunday 9/4/22, there was only 1 person behind the desk and I stood in line for 3 hours straight, because of this my movers were no longer available to help me. This is unacceptable. I literally did not get my vehicle until after noon. The van was not clean and had trash in it (not a big deal) but there was barely any gas in it, im lucky I even made it to the gas station.

The line inside was very long on August 30th. The staff were professional, quick and the outside operation was very well run. But, the location is in a not-so-good area right near many homeless, and the line was super long. Anything you can do to reduce wait times during peak season would have made the experience more pleasurable! That said, the outside staff did a great job so thank you to them!

Truck had 138,000 miles and the check engine light was on. The engine was very sluggish. I don't think you should keep trucks to that many miles. Other than that it was clean and performed ok.

Please hire more staff members, and try to have people with empathy and emotional intelligence to navigate better the pressure of long lines, I waited for 3 hours before I could get my truck, despite the fact that I followed all the online directions to expedite the process one day in advance. There were nearly 70 people like me in the same situation. Yesterday this experience put me under a lot of stress because I lost 3 hours that I needed for my move. Some people even cancel their services and complained. I waited and get my truck, but I will consider twice to return to this location. U-Haul has been the leading company in the area for this service, and yesterday made me think about it. I feel bad for the person who works for you, he was under a lot of stress. When I was at the counter another staff person took my case, but that happened 3 hours later. For too many people, you may need to add an expedited process and have different lines for people who already were checked in, like me, people who were there to buy stuff, people for storage, and people for trucks and vans. Or add machines to help clients to make their own process, and just when the documents need to be seen by an agent, then you could involve your staff. Sorry, but I can not give you a good rating for this location. I hope you will improve and do better in the future.

Terrible experience!!! Will not be using uhaul ever again. I thought this would be a good change from alternative renting options. Boy was I wrong. The first thing I was greeted with was a 2 hour wait on what wad supposedly the busiest day for uhaul. If it was expected to be the busiest day, why was there a single inconsiderate man who looks like he wants get fired working the desk. Man had no energy, and was getting salty at everyone. When I finally made to the front of the line, there suddenly appeared another lady who somehow managed to be ruder than the previous guy. Not only was talking under her breath with everything she said, she would get mad at me for not understanding her, even though she was speaking at a volume of -2 decibels and mumbling everything she said. When I finally got the truck, the guy gave me the truck was very nice. Give him a raise. No let me get started on the return process. My goodness, I was fighting for my life. At not other point in my life this I fear this much my upcoming death. The place was not secured at all and there were a bunch of crackhead following me. I was playing hide and seek with these fools with the amount of uhauls that were parked everywhere randomly, which also made it nearly impossible to find a parking spot. Will never be returning as I value my life and would like to successfully graduate before dying. Hope you close down this location in the future.

The location has no parking. I walk away from my car for 2 mins to check out the UHaul and my tire got slashed. And the Uhaul van i got has broken gas meter. I kept pumping and the level of gas never moved. Ended up pumped $30 of gas when I only drove 4 miles.

U-Haul truck was barely drivable. Needed to keep the steering wheel at a 45 degree turn to go straight. Engine sounded terrible. Truck exterior was awful. However, much thanks and appreciation to staff who kept the inside quite clean and usable. That was great. However the actual truck was a disaster. Site had very nice people but was terribly understaffed with wait times that were in the hour or more range.

I arrived at 7am with the completed mobile pick up option to skip the line and grab my keys. There was only one person working the counter and a very long line. I asked a couple of other workers walking around if could skip the line and grab my keys. They said no I need to wait. I waited an hour and 15 mins. When I got to the counter, the person said I should have skipped the line. Huge waste of time.

There was no lock for me in my storage unit. I had to either a) wait in a like if 20 people to get the lock or b) buy one in store on my phone to skip the line. I chose to skip the line and pay $11 for a lock, but I shouldn't have had to.

I only ended up here because my UHaul reservation closer to my home was canceled without letting me know. The website needs to be clearer that you need to go check into the unit the first date of the reservation or you forfeit the reservation. It was unbelievably stressful to show up with a fully packed UHaul and then realize we needed to drive with it on the interstate to a location miles away.

Uhaul representative took pictures of me, and my driver's license on his cell phone! 4. No credit for excess fuel returned. For example, I put in $ 25 additional fuel. I could not use the storage at Mass Ave, because the storage that I reserved was not available (previous customer was not moved out). I was chaotic because I had to put my moving stuff on the day. It was extremely nervous to find another storage unit. Finally I was able to find a storage unit 20 miles away, causing extra pay for truck, uber, and storage. Furthermore, they were still charging me the rent fee and late fee for the storage that I have not used. To fix this issue, I have called you several time, but it took 20 days fix. I'm very unsatisfied the overall service.

Terrible storage experience. When I went to open my unit, the key to my lock didn't work. I had to go buy bolt cutters. When I got into the unit I found mouse poop everywhere and also mouse traps. There were no mouse traps when I originally moved my stuff into the unit. This means that the uhaul staff cut my original lock off, laid traps, then replaced it with a different lock without telling me. I went to the office and the staff confirmed this. I will never use uhaul again.

My daughter did not receive the best assistance when trying to move in. The clerk was more worried about ordering her Chipotle than assisting…so much so my daughter didn't know she was to receive an access card and was never given any real direction. I will however say that the guy who helped up close the unit was extremely helpful friendly and knowledgeable. He's the type of person you need to keep around and get rid of that other dead weight! Lastly, parking is terrible!

Rental #837054-00136379Unit #: C2034 U-Haul Storage At Mass Ave Boston U-Haul was not able to lease us the storage unit to us and cancelled our reservation at the counter (U-Haul Storage At Mass Ave Boston) on June 29, 2022. This made us to find another storage unit on the date of our moving. It was disaster. I reserved the u-haul storage unit and confirmed. However, I found that the unit was full by other people's stuff. I asked another unit available, but the representative at the counter said there is no available space and refund our payment. They said it was not their fault. Was it our fault? I made reservation, but they ignored our reservation. I never understand and actually shocked about how U-haul is unprofessional. Not reliable, cannot trust the system. Furthermore, they still charged me as well as a late fee without providing a service. Your are totally unprofessional. You need fix your online reservation system. I spend extra $300 dollars for finding and driving another unit for storage due to your fault.

My customer service representative that booked my storage unit wasn't helpful at all!! He never offered to scan my license until after 40 minutes of me telling him I couldn't take a picture of my license with my phone. He didn't offer me a card key to get in facility which I didn't know I needed. He rudely took on another customer while he wasn't finished with me and me not knowing what else to do besides tell him to please finish with me first because I was not done yet and had been there for a very long time without help.

The storage was great. My locker was in a perfect location. The tall gentleman who spoke little to no English / Maybe Dominican was the ABSOLUTE BEST AND KINDEST SOUL . He was always super friendly and kind. He would always come by my storage unit and say hello. The lines inside made it unbearable to rely on. The garage door to get to the unit was a nightmare and always being blocked by actual UHAUL trucks made no sense . The Staff at front desk did not seem appreciated by upper management, as their motivation to be friendly wavered and depended on who was working. From my own experience in their position they need support and to be treated better because it show that they are clearly not. The turn over seems low but their energy seems even lower which implies a level on distain for their employer. That someone isn't listening to them not appreciating their efforts in showing up. The pandemic has changed our work culture and perhaps because UHaul is doing well they maybe getting greedy and forgetting to support their staff because it shows.

Set up my unit, was told they would change the lock in about a week to a circle lock and they would put the key in the managers office. Came back to get my things out a month or so later and they had lost the key. Some of the staff was very nice, but the assistant manager was not. He kicked us out for asking if we could break the block or if there was anything we could do.

So they people that work there were not helpful like 6 employees were just laying around literally all over the store. On their phones. They all stared as I walked in no one wanted to help me. One young woman reluctantly got up and gave me the card needed. At that point she sat back down and finished her phone conversation. Once I found the unit I had no idea there were stairs to use I then walked back over. She said it's stairs in there asked one of the other associates to assist and they completely ignored me. I personally don't take the time to do these type of surveys but the customer service aspect was HORRENDOUS to say the least

When I went in to empty my storage I noticed that the pipes have been leaking on to my stuff and more than five items had been damaged with mold. Yet I paid for the extra amount for cleaning expenses. So I'm not that happy . Their was no top to my storage so all the pipes could leak in.

The unit was great. Very secure and dry, no water, moisture or rodent damage to anything in there despite it being in there for 1.5 years untouched. Had some very valuable art in there and zero issues. Access is easy, lots of carts and space. Rented a truck there as well, had some hickups with the pick up but the truck was clean and very well maintained, drop off in Canada very easy and no extra charges.

The storage unit facility on Mass. Ave in Boston was great. So clean and well lighted. Private enclosed garage for unloading. Lots of carry carts for moving stuff to and from your vehicle to your unit. Staff worked fast to get us checked in and helped us drop off our rental trailer. Was a positive experience. .

The people in the showroom are immature and are undertrained. I always felt uncomfortable being on property mainly by uhual employees following me. I would attempt to ask for help and it was either "pass-the-buck" or the staff didnt speak english. I had an issues with getting access during hours of operation and was threatened with staff calling the cops if i didnt leave them alone. Yet i needed help. Overall very unprofessional and misinformed to later find out, after designated a locker, my storage required climbing a ladder. A huge nightmare including staff and even the "manager" who threatened me bc i requested help.
