Pick up was scheduled for 9:00- facility didn't open until 9:15. The gentleman preparing vehicles was there at 8:39!when I arrived but the two women who were supposed to open arrived at 9:15 & 9:30- they were efficient once there but I did not receive my vehicle until 9:48- unacceptable!! No explanation or apology- I also reserved a furniture dolly and moving blankets- neither of which were available. When I returned my vehicle- the young gentleman receiving returned vehicles sat inside paying attention to his phone screen for the next 10 minutes while I sat in the vehicle before attending to me- he never put down his phone or stopped paying attention to his screen to attend to my situation and seemed bothered or couldn't be bothered to share Any information or answer any questions regarding the process of returning vehiclesâ€¦.DANIEL F.
I had to wait for over 30 minutes in line to pick up my reservation but as rushed out when my checkout was complete. I was rushed off the lot while i was checking my truck. While the mileage was correct the gas was incorrect. it was given to me at a little less than the 1/8 mark. Paperwork was recorded as a 1/4. I noticed when I was about miles away and the lo fuel light came on. If i wasn't directed to move off the lot i could have reported his and fully inspected the rental. Upon my return I explain and showed I'd driven less than 10 miles and the gas wasn't recorded correctly. The man who took my guys just said I should have told them before and i probably left the car running idle and thats how the gas was used up. personnel was helpful when you actually got to talk to them......... there was only 1 cashier so I waited for an hour in line to get my reserved truck. had a reservation for 11 didn't actually get in the truck until 11:10. Thanks.DANIEL M.
Staff were slow and unhelpful, and changed the terms of my rental without telling me. Only one register was open on a Sunday morning, and the line took an hour and a half. Van had a number of mechanical and electrical problems. The pads that I rented were dirty. I rented a 26' van and when I came back at night to return it there were no spaces big enough to leave it in the designated drop-off zone.Henry H.
Employees were rude, and mostly roaming around the lot talking on their phones and ignoring customers. Person at the desk barely acknowledged me, didn't explain anything and basically made me feel like I disrupting her day by checking in to pick up the trailer I rented. The trailer was of questionable road worthiness. The lights were finicky and unreliable even with a new harness. After some trial an error they were able to tape the light harness together in such a way that it seemed to work. I was sent off to hope and pray it continued to work during my use. When I returned I again waited for at least 15-20 minutes while a saw several employees just stand around and do nothing. I won't be coming back to this location.Robert P.

We were on the phone for 30 min since the receptionist couldn't tell us the clearance height of the truck and we drive in the boston area. Additionally, one is the pads was missing of the dozen. And lastly, the dolly we requested was not available when we showed up even though I requested it 2 weeks ahead of time.Yanina B.

My pickup time was 9:00 (the location opened at 9). When I arrived, the line was almost out the door and only one person was working the counter. I waited over 45 minutes to pick up the truck, which caused me to be late to meet the movers (also booked through Uhaul). I had reserved furniture pads and asked for when when I was given the keys to the truck, however they were not in the truck when I arrived at my destination and had to them drive back to the Uhaul location to pick up the furniture pads, further delaying the movers from losing the truck. I understand that everyone is short staffed and the staff was nice when I returned for the furniture pads, but if you have limited staff then Uhaul should find a way to limit the number of reservations that c CBC and be made within a specific time block.Christianne G.
For customers who rent every other month and have never damaged a vehicle or returned unclean or with short gas. Try not to give them the bottom of the barrel trucks , when others are available. A previously damaged truck should be properly repaired before being rented out.MYRON L.
The only issue I had is I made a reservation, received confirmation and instructions, got there and it was canceled and I never received any text or email informing me of any cancellation. I've been renting with you for 26 years and don't recall any prior issues. I was overcharged via a manually entered transaction several days after renting the uhaul. I logged a case on uhaul.com, received automated email saying â€œyour case will be handled shortlyâ€. Truck was not safe!!! I will definitely report to bbb. I was desperate and needed a truck so i had to take it, but door did not have grasp bar to close, it was all torn off, tire was flat and I had to talk to the guys 4 times before they agree to put air into it. They didn't even look at it and brushed it off by saying it's fine, just light malfunction when if you just look can see the tire is low on air. The inside was definitely Not Sanitized at all cause there were stains all over. It was a nightmare rental.Jeanie V.

Make sure your vans are clean first off. The van was nasty there were stains throughout on the windows, seats were sticky, the passenger mirror was broken. I was also charged double due to someone not checking the vehicle back in in a timely manner. The issue was resolved however it should have never happened if people were doing their jobs properly and efficiently. So no I would not recommend this location nor will I be using it again I don't care how close it is to me I will drive the extra miles to go to a location that has their act together.Ngesti S.

Nothing. Your staff is fantastic. I went to load my UBox 3 times and they were always fabulous, especially Ronice (I think everyone calls her Ronny) The only issue was the first box shipped before I was finished loading it, not because of the folks at Mass Ave but because of a communication problem with the shipper. Generally speaking this is a hard review to provide. We don't have many immediately close-by UHAUL options to go to in downtown Boston. We return to this location because of convenience and because there are always rentals available when we need them, but this is the only location in the immediate downtown Boston area where propane tanks can be filled, so it's our only option. The staff at this location - no matter the time of day or day of week - seem miserable and really unhappy. It's hard to see that as a customer, and I spent YEARS working in a similar customer-facing service industry (on-the-floor staff as well as management), so I understand how trying direct customer support and service can be, and feel like I have a higher-than-normal tolerance for customer service. I don't know if pay needs to be increased, or better staff morale training and support needs to be provided by UHAUL regional/corporate staff, but your team seems so unhappy and that comes off in how they interact with customers. This is not a one-time thing from our most recent rental experience, but one that has been repeated over the 7 or so years that we have been coming to this location for propane fill ups, moving supply purchases, or van/truck rentals. The location of the UHAUL is a very tough one with everything that has transpired in the Mass & Cass area. I would love to see UHAUL corporate take better care of their staff (again, training and increased compensation would go a long way) so that the employees can provide reasonably pleasant and somewhat professional experience for customers.Robert O.

This U-Haul location has always done stuff to take more money away from me I've received trucks twice that were already dirty and was charged for it but was able to get a refund. rented U-boxes and the rental period was from pickup date to delivery date, however, I was charged for 2 months after the delivery was completed! U-haul should have system triggers to note when contracts such as the one I had, are completed.. I just feel and I say I feel it should be more compassionate with people. Waited in line for an hour only to receive the news that the key put on my storage unit by uhaul was lost and could not be cut because only one person had the ability to do so. Had to extend a rental car and had no access to any of my furniture and college supplies. Terrible experience and would not recommend. First of all, it is not clear where to check in for storage facilities. We were yelled at by several employees when we drove onto the uhaul Lot. We asked for assistance on where to park and where to go and no one would help. We circled the block a couple times and after parking on the street, found our way back to the office, right where we had been told we couldn't park! We had a confirmed reservation for a storage unit, but we were told they were all sold out and our reservation meant nothing. What a joke. Horrible experience! Unprofessional rude staff. I didn't like the way manger handle the situation. We gave him proof that we have a month free: to reimburse the money back to the account. He just walked around and keep saying I'll get to it, and said ooh we don't have unit for free here. We spoke to customer service and they did say we can get our refund, they even asked us to speak to the manager there. It turns out it's the same manager giving us hard time. The young lady was not helpful. I stay there literally for an hour waiting for the manager to get back to me. He still didn't get to it. So this is my last time coming to this U-Haul place. I'll take my business somewhere else. The unit I reserved did not exist. This has shown me that U-Haul is a crooked and disorganized company. Associates Diana and Shania were very helpful; they saved the day. Jim made the entire process more difficult, for both me as a customer and for the other employees. Jim did not not show me where my unit was, and it took me 20 minutes to find it, and it was still locked when I found it. When I finally had someone (Shania) come unlock it, it was too small. Diana and Shania went above and beyond, got me a unit that worked, showed me how to use the elevator, gave me a month free, and just in general were sympathetic and down to earth. I rented a storage unit on 6/15/21 and reserved a 15' footer truck for 6/16/21 today 6/16/21 the service was horrible. the first truck #DC1211K) sputtered and jerked also the check light was on!!!!!! I turned right around brought it back complained to MR. Jimmy Diamond, told me that was normal for that year and model. I expressed how uncomfortable I was to drive a truck with a check engine light on and ask for another truck. I was told to wait in line to exchange the truck. Hi, The girl at the desk was untrained and very stressed out. We have a room already. We wanted an empty room right across from ours. It has a green tag and a green lock. The girl insisted that a green lock meant the room was not available. I have been coming here for years. Red tag + second lock = renter behind on rent, no tag + 1 lock = normal room already rented, green tag + green lock = room available to rent. She refused to rent to us. She kept asking what size room we wanted. We said the exact room number. She kept saying it was not available. I said look me up on the computer. She insisted that a second room was a separate account. (What business would do that?) She gave me a form to fill out. It was in Spanish. She was very agitated and would not make eye contact. I said a green lock means it is available. She said a green lock means there is a problem with the room. The girl at the other station said she could help us. She looked me up in the computer and we completed the rental for the exact room I wanted with no problem. The first girl was standing on her chair yelling at people to get back in line. Interactions were as expected but none of the employees were wearing masks. Even out on the sales floor and in the warehouse. Anyone that had a mask had it pulled down to chin. Most employees were blatantly not wearing a mask at all. Very concerning and should be addressed.Lindsey N. | First Impressions
The Manager Ed was pleasant, accommodating and a true believer in customer satisfaction! I felt valued s a consumer as a result of the way in which I was treated by Ed the manager. That is the example I believe he models for his employees. I received excellent service at the register, and after needing some questions and by the manager the other team member cleaned the van I was renting with a smile.
