Although I had a pretty good experience with this facility, I experienced mold and mildew on my items and clothing up on removing my belongings. I paid for a controlled climate purposely to avoid this but ended ip with mold and mildew anyway. I am highly disappointed that this happened even though I paid for the controlled climate unit. And I asked could I extend my rental by an hour since I rescheduled the original pickup time by an hour because I was given that option online. He told me that wasn't possible because they had several people that needed rentals around that time. He was a Caucasian with a long beard. I'd originally booked and asked for my pick up location to be the Kanis Rd location, because it's very conveniently located near my home. I also booked this rental 3 or more months out, to make sure I got what I needed, when I needed it. On the morning before my pick up date, a nice rep from uhaul called to presumably confirm the details and pick up location. This rep initially indicated I'd need to pick up my 15 foot truck and car transport in Mayflower, Arkansas, even though it was booked for the Kanis RD Little Rock location. Just to be clear, Mayflower, AR is about 1.5 hours outside of Little Rock, where I live and made my reservation, over 3 months prior. I quickly informed the uhaul rep that it was unacceptable for uhaul to even suggest a scenario where I'd have to take a separate road trip, just to pick up my moving van and car transport . I also asked why such a large company, for whom the proper running of such a company requires a strong level of logistics competency, seemed so poor at logistics. In effect I'd be doing uhaul's job and paying them for the privilege. I mentioned I'd booked this over 3 months before the date and had taken the time to appropriately plan, why hadn't uhaul done the same. Seems Uhaul didn't start planning until the day before, even though they'd been given such early notice. While on the phone with this rep, I could here her plucking around on her computer, presumably trying to figure out how to accomplish my rental. I'd been planning this for over three months, but it seems uhaul began their planning the day before and poor planning produces even poorer results. I should not have had to be on the phone the day before my trip listening to one of your employees, struggling to figure out how to satisfy my reservation. She should have already had that figured out before she called me, so she could speak confidently and knowledgeablely about how this would work. Your customer's should not have to be a part of you figuring out your own jobs, nor hear or see the behind the scenes problems you are having. Have your plan together and be confident in it when you speak to me, or I lose confidence in your ability to do your job. The uhaul rep finally worked out the moving truck pick up at a location on the very edge of little Rock. Not the location I wanted, but at least it was actually in the right town. However, uhaul couldn't get it together enough to allow me to pick up my car transport at the same location. I was told I would have to pick up the car transport at a location in the town of Sherwood, almost 30 minutes away. I agreed because I was left with no other choice. Not because I was OK with it. Finally, on the morning of the pick up, I was running 15 minutes late and called the Chico RD location, where I was told to pick it up and they informed me I would now be picking up the truck at Kanis Rd, the location I originally booked and asked for. That might almost sound good, it's the location I wanted, but it instilled even more of a lack of confidence and made me feel jerked around and run around and I still had to drive out of town 30 minutes to get the car transport. While I was given extra miles I was not given gas money for the driving, nor did my bill reflect the discounts of 50 dollars off the transport, nor the approximately 79 dollars I was told would be discounted on the truck. I did not press the people at the two locations about the price I was promised by the uhaul phone rep, as the inter-company communication seemed so poor and I did not have time for them to find the rep that told me she would discount my rental. In the end I made a successful trip, but the only good thing about my experience with uhaul was that the equipment was solid and in good shape. Every bit of the rest of my experience, was a trip through poor communication, poor logistics and an unacceptable level of incompetence. It was a nightmare when trying to check the truck back in. The associate Ellyse claimed our debit card had not been charged so we paid the 324$ remaining in cash and than left to find out we had been charged on the card as well. We had to return to the Kanis store only to be told we would have to return when a manager was present and we could not get our cash back even though we had already been charged. Whoever I talked to was a complete Asshole. I rented the trailer and did not read it was only a 5 ft opening, therefore I could not get the carriage I bought in Little Rock to go in it. The man who I bought the carriage from was nice enough to let me use his car hauler to take my carriage back to Louisiana. The man dropped off the uhaul trailer for me yesterday morning. When asked for a break on the trailer rental the guy I spoke to was a complete ass and did not offer any assistance. He told me, â€œyou should have read all the dimensions on our websiteâ€ in a very condescending manner. I can't believe two different locations in two different cities treat their customer like this. You probably need to do an assessment on these managers who run these branches because it's obvious you have poor managers in these jobs. I am a Sales Manager and if one of the 15 sales People talked to one of our customers that way I'd fire them on the spot. You and all big time companies have lost track of the customer service piece that is killing your business. People wanted to be treated right. This is not a matter of money, it's about how your employees speak to the customer. Just remember, without customers coming back you don't have a business. Your managers running these stores are a reflection on Uhaul. The regional and vp's of Uhaul can't possibly be at every location making sure it's being run right. Hence the reason for the surveys. If you don't take action with these surveys, what's the point in having them. I can't be the only customer that gives a bad review. If you really want to know what's happening in your stores you need to secret shop them and you will see first hand the experience the customer is receiving.Nicholas P.

The female agents were excellent. The problem I have is I did not know until I got there that the trailer did not have a hitch lock. This was an old trailer & did not have the hole to insert a locking pin so the trailer could not be unhitched & stolen. This is serious. The rate of which u-haul trailers & equipment are stolen across America we need every available security possible. This trailer could be simply unhitched & reattached to another vehicle & driven away. For good ness sack get rid of ur old units & get new ones or at least install a hitch that is lockable. Now I'll have to call every place to ensure they have a way to lock it off use someone else.Tron C.

Our 15' & trailer was changed to a 45min drive location, so had to get a 26'@ Kanis. Trailer was 35min at another location. Moved several times with uhaul, but this was very bad & costly. Customer service was very long wait times. We got extra miles added, which we didn't use. $$$$John C.

There were only people that were willing to help customers outside even if they were trying to call the automated call cycle would be on because imaybe they are two hours or an hour from smoke break and they put out the cigarette to run in and you pull up into a handicap spot because my hang tag showed inside my truck but no one came to the back until I had asked a young African American to move the other truck to as well because we were trying to get as much as possible out my storage and that young man helped to move every piece carefully as possible so as not too make much movement because somehow things had shifted and I knew who used my code only me unless given access by me but I had to be there to physically put it in by night or day…which is why I chose your largest outside unit @management…Mr Chris…I was your client in the full size unit that held the most furniture because of CoVid I was immediately released to go home to NLR because I lived in town about 30 minutes from campus I packed what I could until Augustnand I moved completely with your biggest truck and a one way reservation to Little Rock but we got there late at night but I knew my instructions really well..and the lock I bought at the Uhaul @ pickup of truck somehow didn’t get put o one no more than the 2nd evening I was notified that there was no lock on my unit and truly there was a busted blue lock left open & hanging on barely to all my precious so I hoped everything was okay and carefully put a new lock on… and it’s still in my truck from that day to this and Mr Chris I know you read poor or good reviews this one is bitter sweet because I lived the 25 access when I learned immediately to follow the assigned path cause 24 clearance I support the payment and you keep the film footage and if you roll them back to the Wednesday before thanksgiving a young man by the lady name of “Chisholm” assisted me and the ladies sat inside never came out to see what was going on nor did they answer the phone as I drove all the way to my storage because my brother in law was frustrated because of a disability( veteran tags disabled due to back he couldn’t go back and forth because he waited for me and came to the truck and I stopped at the kiosk as they’d told him and I peered thru the glass quickly to see one person being assisted which was a white lady getting immediate assistance and one black guy who saw me looking in and felt uncomfortable 🥴 as he turned away his glance…so I bloated my horn because I knew it was a holiday and it was two young ladies at the desk who’d look or listen to the phone and not attend to anything or anyone outside those doors black or white make nor female….which one younger and very cute woman a little chunky but was very kind because she saw all of my broken pieces of antique furniture broken and busted laying on the ground and also I taped everything I didn’t submit it because my heat had gone out in my home and I was displaced so I was fighting my health because of a second major knee surgery torn meniscus…and as I lay in the bed I’m trying not to cry anymore over the loss of furniture that can’t be replaced be cause I so carefully moved and wrapped everything I could in Russellville as my younger brother 6’4 at least 309 prior to CoVid 29 status which he caught almost twice because he’s a very hard worker but suffered from undiagnosed sleep apnea , back log that killed so many as they waited in line with the VA to get their treatment for back that got thrown out because you’d fear nothing to jump out of a plane and hit the ground running if your bands of men by blood 🩸 or not and you took an oath as I do now as well every time I testify as a expert witness I mute the phone and let the courts no my status in advance because the knee pain started as I started to climb stairs slower in beautiful town home had to be locked up with the beautiful new furniture I hand picked with care and had it expertly delivered at one hundred dollars 💵 to get my 1st check because I couldn’t drive back and fourth physically at the time because my body could t take the one hour and 15 to thirty minutes as long as you’re flowing with the traffic toward ATU WITHOUT POLICE / and many other variables controlled by Mother Nature and not just the police and yes I’m African American woman and very proud of my full faculty status that I was asked to come to ATU for a meeting with the Rehabilitation board that I still sit on but the coordinator is much older and yet remains a very proud Air Force veteran that retired as full director at Ft roots and met me by addjunt status on line because my program is to help people like me fat tall small wheelchair or barely walking we all need a little help but don’t make wait to respond because the woman that helped me makes me cry because she has a pure heart but not complexion because I know the pain watching those with addictions and how they suffer and yet we still turn a blind eye ..not I held a storage unit with this facility for about four years. I paid on time. As time went on the facility began to go down hill. They removed the main gate to the storage units, thus providing less security. Many of the other tenants were delinquent on payments. Uhaul staff started loitering about the facility at odd hours appearing to be sketchy. Finally my unit was burglarized and the thieves covered their tracks by putting their own lock on my unit. It was methodical and planned, giving the appearance of being an inside job. Don't leave your stuff here. Only problem I had with U-Haul was there was no grace period for payments. A late fee was assessed immediately. I understand sometimes I was a couple weeks late and I understand the late fee in that instance, but when I was only a day late I was assessed a $30 late fee and that's hard when someone lives paycheck to paycheck.Barbara S. | Overall Experience

Your GM is a racist. She was very rude to me and she refuse to respond to my emails or ones from my family. I paid you all for about three years, and when i was hospitalized for emergency surgery, my daughter asked for a possible ext. Dhe even had a letter from my doctor. Your female GM said, I don't care if she is sick. She has to pay. My daughter never said she would pay, only asked for a few days after the 3rd. So, no I will not be telling anybody about how good you are. You all should be ashamed. She is a rude, racist who does nit have a heart of compassion. The employees were very friendly and helpful, but the facilities seemed to have many issues. A lot of interior lights were burned out on multiple occasions when we visited, the gate to access the storage building area was always open when we visited, we noticed rat poison laying around, multiple units near my own had cards on the door that said they had mold growing inside and remained that way the entirety of the time I had my unit, and the insulation on the ceiling in my unit was falling apart so badly that all of my items had to be cleaned off upon removal. As I said, the staff was always kind and helpful, but the facilities could use some better upkeep.Melissa J. | Overall Experience

I had a free one month storage as a bonus for renting from Uhaul which in itself was a plus. The staff went above and beyond in networking for me to help sell the fridge I was storing, saving me storage fees. I am very grateful to them for their efforts and time. My only complaint is that the outdoor access storage unit I reserved online was not actually available when I arrived. There were indoor and larger units available, just not what I asked for or what was confirmed online. The storage unit I ended up with was $30 more per month, which will add up over time. I was told that the U-Haul website confirmation doesn't necessarily mean anything for the local U-haul businesses. I've had this problem before where the right hand doesn't know (or care) what the left hand is doing. The local folks did try to accommodate my exist request, but it would have meant going to a different branch/facility, one further away from my residence.
