The overall rental of the truck was good. However, I had also reserved an appliance dolly to go with the truck. After confirming availability of the dolly on the day before the reservation, it was not available upon pickup. This forced me to rent at another location after picking up the truck, and delayed me an hour of moving time.

Frances D.I have used U-Haul for my moving and storage needs many times over the years, but no longer after this experience!! Worst service experience I've ever had! I will never use U-Haul again for anything. The ridiculous fees they charge if you are one day past the due date and the service the staff provides are unacceptable. I was never more than 2-3 days past my due date, because my life as most people is very busy. But I came to my unit and a lock was on my unit. So I drove 30 minutes to my unit to grab a few items for my son only to find I was locked out. When paying $115 for a tiny 7x10 unit, I should be able to access it when I need to! I was yelled at, cussed at and hung up on by the manager at the I26 location when I called to discuss the situation. 8 months at this facility and nothing but issues! Could never get in touch with anyone. Even the reps at the 800 customer service number are not the friendliest. I'm DONE with U-Haul! There are too many other companies that are better priced and believe in good customer service.

There were multiple times we had issues with the elevator opening and closing and even moving when the buttons were selected. *We were unable to get in touch with the office by phone during the time we had to unit. We were also unable to contact the office to close out the account. Even the customer service line was unable to get in touch with anyone in the building to notify them that we cleared the unit. * Customer service notated in the account that we moved out and that would be enough since no one was able to reach the office. I received multiple calls and emails regarding the account being past due before receiving this survey. Even today I was unable to reach anyone at the office to discuss this matter. I will be back in Columbia in a few weeks and I would like to speak to the manager about this matter.

SANDRA W.When I first came to that location on Fernandina road Great manager she always looked out I paid my storage on time because I'm on a budget I'm disabled this new lady comes in and nickled and dime me to death true enough I know the pandemic isn't the greatest place to be in at this point in time in life but business is business and she was all about business and wasn't given any breaks I make a payment if I had a balance I got charged more than what I paid so I had to leave and the young man that she has working for her is dumber than a bag of rocks couldn't take payments for accounts that's in the hole because the manager wasn't there came there several times to make payments he couldn't take the payment because of the fact that I spoke with the manager and she didn't relay the message to him needs to be a dialogue between manager and employee she needs to trust him to do his job and he needs to know his job with that being said that's why I left the facilities have a good day.

I filed a claim but haven't been able to speak to anyone about it for weeks. Even if they don't intend to compensate me, I feel they should tell me. I spent $1,800. at that facility.

Elizabeth L.I am very disappointed in my most recent UHAUL truck rental experience. Overall, everything was going well until I returned the truck. The guy working at the facility overcharged me. He charged me a $25 cleaning fee because some mud was on the floor of the driver's side due to the constant rain during my rental period. Additionally, he charged me for a dolly that was already on the truck when I rented it and I didn't use it. I felt as if he was trying to overcharge me unnecessarily. He didn't discuss any of these charges with me and had I not reviewed my receipt I wouldn't have known anything about the additional fees. Poor experience - last time renting at this location.

JOHN M.My unit was in building D. The hall My unit was in was very dark and had a burnt out light. Since there aren't lights in the units, it was pitch black in my unit and I had to use the flashlight on my phone to look around. There needs to be more lighting and maintenance of ones that burn out. There were too many rent increases that occur every year and a half or so. Otherwise, my belongings were kept safe and I appreciate not having to worry about my things being stolen.

I could have rented a truck from Enterprise for the day for that amount. I know it's technically not “misleading†as the “fine print after the asterisk explains thisâ€, but why advertise as $19.95 when it's only that much if you don't actually drive it at all? Also had to leave my credit card with the desk attendant as “policy†for a local rental because I don't have a military ID or passport? Never had to do this before either.
Amber V.Your policy of copying my driver license and then holding my car registration as collateral is ridiculous. That gives you all the information you need to steal my identity and even sell my car online. When your employee asked for my registration or passport to hold while I had the van, I was shocked. That can't even be legal. Then he wanted the name and phone number of a second contact. So I gave him a made up number and name. Way too much of my private information just to drive a van for a couple of hours. Also, you charge 89 cents a mile and then expect me to pay for gas too. And you make me pay for mileage up front when who knows how many miles they are going. This is a horrible and unethical way to do business. I will never, ever be your customer (victim) again.

We swept it prior to returning it and gas was at 1/2 a tank, but they claimed it was at or near 1/4 tank. Also truck pick up was at one location and moved last minute without notice. Had to drive out of way to pick up truck and then was of course still charged for mileage from new location to residence. Original location was 3 miles from house and where we had to pick it up was 15min away. All of this seems off and we will not be back. We were charged double what we were supposed to be charged and they had so many fees attached. So that's fine that will be the last time your company overcharges us. We will not be back and will notify anyone who is moving to also use another company. This was the worst experience we have ever had and we have been using Uhaul for years, but again you want to charge us $300 when we were supposed to be charged $150 then we will not be back.

KRISTIN H.I usually don't have a problem at all when I rent a vehicle from Uhaul, but I did this time! Right after I walked in, I was sort of greeted with a bit of an attitude. Then, there wasn't really much small talk or how are you today? Nothing! I really felt unwelcomed by Breanna...I was also told that I would need to leave a passport or my vehicle registration with her while I rented the Uhaul Pick Up Truck! I was like, my son- in-law will be driving my vehicle so he's going to need that on him. I also told her I no longer have a valid passport...I asked her if there was anything else I could leave with her...for the assurance! 樂 Like having my debit Mastercard on file wasn't enough! Anyway, she mentioned that she would be able to hold a valid credit card until I brought their vehicle back. 樂 After handing it to her, I noticed a form attached to the plastic shield window in front of me. I began to read about the assurance policy. It did mention that the location I was renting from required assurance from ccustomers, but here's the thing...on that form it mentioned about 5 other things that could be given for assurance other than a credit card, passport, or vehicle registration! On the form it also mentioned that a residential lease agreement could be used. When I said, "oh...it says here that I can use my lease also. She told me "no because that's just a piece of paper!!!" I said, well it says right here on the form that it would be a valid form of meaningful assurance! She still said, no." So I took a screenshot of the form to follow up with that later! Overall, it was a pretty cool experience at this location, but excellent customer service is really important to me and it just wasn't shown...

However, over half of my valuables were ruined due to mold, which was not present when I initially moved in. I was not offered a satisfactory resolution. Furthermore, when I cleaned out my unit, i documented a watery-orange substance had leaked into my unit from the adjacent unit. I have pictures of the mold damage. I'm just asking to have April refunded since I moved out on the 12th, before the monthly due date. I was a customer for years, I'm disappointed it has ended this way.

I had my own insurance that refused to help because uhaul wouldn't investigate their own damages to how water got into interior unit. Photos are irreplaceable and this one hurt bad with zero customer service.
