It was really difficult to start the truck I rented. The key would get jammed in the ignition every single time, and I'd have to jiggle the steering wheel and and jiggle the key for about five minutes every time I needed to start the truck, which was stressful when trying to move/park on busy streets. I had some challenges with the online reservation process. I needed to change my vehicle pickup time to one hour later than what I originally reserved, but the online 'edit your reservation' function didn't offer the time I needed. I tried calling the Cambridge, MA branch where I had the reservation, but I was not connected with any operator for assistance. It was frustrating to be unable to do an otherwise simple edit, and not be able to reach an operator. Otherwise, the actual pick-up/drop-off service was very smooth and convenient, so I still had a good experience with this particular UHaul location.ANDREW Y.
My only issue was that when I dropped off the vehicle, I told the attendant that while the contract indicated the tank was at 5/8 at pick-up, I realized just after I pulled away that it was only about 1/8. The attendant said "Don't worry, we won't charge you for gas." But the invoice I received charged me $50 for gas that I don't owe!DANIEL L.

Upon picking up the van, there were multiple hits and dings all over the van that were not initially recorded on the app. I had to take more than 10 pictures before leaving the lot. More importantly, service was a little hasty and I was sent from one person to another for a simple resolution. Upon return of the van, I was told that I didn't bring it back with the correct gas in it. Thankfully, I had kept my gas receipt and could prove it with the mileage, and also my picture of the original gas tank indicator. I found this very strange and disturbing. Had I not been able to prove it, they would have charged me for gasoline based on a complete lie. The girl / woman that checked me out in the end (and checked the van) was very helpful. When a customer has created a reservation, hold the storage space. If it will be first come first serve, the reservation is useless. It is a fake sense of security, and there is no point in having a reservation, if by the time one arrives, it will have been given to someone else. Also, when paying for a storage unit, I was not told it would be above stair on an upper level. Terrible experience.BENJAMIN V.

The customer service was horrible. We were new to uHaul and had questions regarding the foto upload of the rental truck before departing. The service person happened to be in the hall and we asked her for a quick help. She didn't really listen, told us something we already knew and iterally walked away from us. If the personnel doesn't have enough time to deal with one single question of a customer, then clearly you need to hire more people. Also, the foto upload doesn't work with the firefox browser, but with chrome it works. That should be repaired by the software team. Also, we were told we need a credit card to rent the pick-up, which we originally requested, but we don't have one yet, as we arrived in the us very recently. This was not clear (enough) from the booking workflow online. Instead, we could have a 10'-truck. (That was not an issue, just a little weird to me). Hope this helps to improve your service!Thies G.
The employee who checked in the truck assured me I would receive a receipt in my email. I did get the email just as he stated. I would have preferred a paper copy in exchange for the truck as a hard copy of evidence of truck return. Then an email after the employee thoroughly inspected the truck. Customer service on the phone was really friendly and the facilities were very clean and well maintained. However, I called to make a reservation 2 months in advance, got a reservation number, but when I called to confirm a week before my start date U-haul told me my reservation didn't exist. I made a new reservation, but when I got there on the day I had to move in the desk worker told me the unit size I wanted was no longer available despite the fact I reserved it, so I was forced into an unnecessarily large unit and on the top floor so that I had to figure out how to carry a mini-fridge up a ladder. This all seemed very disorganized and I was not too happy with this. Overall staff was friendly and professional. Major red flag was unavailability of storage unit even though I booked it 1 month in advance just to be told that my unit was taken by somebody else. I was sent around 2 other storage facilities in and around Boston to finally find one. However, for someone planning the move this added to additional mileage I put on the truck, added to labor cost of TaskRabbit who helped me with the relocation and finally added to my stress and frustration with the whole experience of moving.Bartosz G.

I would have appreciated it if the agent or online reservation system had made it clear and obvious that there would be a $20 service charge for returning a vehicle after hours. Technically U-Haul made the information available, as it appeared in the fine print of the contract, but since I had indicated up front that I would be returning after hours, it seemed a bit deceptive that U-Haul wouldn't include the service charge in the estimated total, and that the agent wouldn't draw my attention to it. I would have changed my drop off plans had I known about the service charge.Emily S.

I rented a storage locker for roughly 9 years. The first couple of years were amazing. It was clean and well kept. However, over the years it has be deteriorating! Trash left all over the place, homeless people leaving out of the lockers, and the employees have became ruder and less likely to help. I had a storage that was on the top level and I never could get access to the ladder they have only one that worked properly. The other one didn't work correctly and I never could get access to either of them when I was interested there. I had to pay extra because I need to get into my storage at my convenience but never did so I rent a lower storage that cost extra. The bathroom is very dirty all the time and never no toilet paper. Super convenient location in central square. Staff is friendly and helpful. Several additional conveniences include that the facility is climate controlled, has a nice restroom (always super clean?!) , has spacious hallways, and they provide several carts for moving your stuff around. Access was easy with the uhaul card, swipe in the right box to check in, swipe in the left box to unlock the door, open the garage door and drive right in. Even though there's really only room for 1-2 cars at the top of the ramp, I never was unable to pull up and do my thing in 6 months of regular use. I paid <$150/month for quite a big space. It's a really good deal considering the price/sq ft in Cambridge. The facility is frequented by homeless people, who probably appreciate the affordable and safe storage. I never felt uncomfortable, and was never solicited for money - they were either chill and friendly or privately going about their business. First month free, and checkout was easy. Just show them a pic of the empty unit. A bit of feedback for improvement: The screws used in the construction of the units were much too long, so there are several exposed screw tips (1-1.5") coming through the walls of the unit, giving a decent probability you could puncture yourself if you were moving stuff around in there and not being careful.
