Well I walked in looking for an enclosed 8ft trailer. I was told that they had no enclosed trailers available. So I drove 15 mins back home and called another location to book one, they sent be back 15 mins to the exact location I had just left with a booking confirmation to rent the exact trailer I was looking for, from the location that told me they had none. Frustrating as hell and shameful customer service. Why was I told there was nothing Available when they had one sat, indented in the exAct location I went to?Chris O.

i ordered an appliance dolly when i booked the truck almost two months ago and when i got there to pick up the truck and dolly they informed me they didnt have any and the closest one was in St Catherines. I would think that with that amount of notice it wouldnt have been difficult to have it here for us but to wait till we showed up on moving day and then tell us oops we dont have one is purely unacceptable. it made our move much more difficultRENE C.

Just u-haul in general is an awful company to use for a moving truck. I did my reservations online and when I got to the store store they said that the 20' truck was not at that location that they don't have that size truck ever. I also rented A Dolly online and when I got there and asked about it they had said that they don't have dollys at this location Barton and Nash Hamilton. Very upset as I had to go to home depot to rent a dolly from them switch was out of my way to do so. I don't understand why you guys want us to Reserve a truck and equipment online and get there to realize that is not available. It is very inconvenient to be dealing with this when we have already Reserved it online. Taking up time the time we have to move our stuff. UNHAPPYAmy R.

This is my go to location for trailers, hitch installs and speed to pick up and drop off. Not the easiest of businesses to run with various clientele just wanting to move through quickly, but I have found everyone to be friendly and even setting up the trailer safely is done by all of their people. ¡Gracias!Derek C.
If there is a change in the pick up location, especially when it is 30 minutes away, notification should be provided earlier than the night before and the TRAFFIC department are leaving in 10 minutes. This situation certainly added levels of stress to my vacation departure that was definitely not appreciated.Scott L.

I was just blown away by how polite, informed and helpful the young gentleman and woman were behind the counter at 2275 Barton St E in Hamilton on Sunday morning, Aug 29th. Imagine my shock when I found out that my Ontario Driver's License had expired 4 months earlier, unbeknownst to me. (Apparently during the Pandemic the authorities aren't sending renewal notices.) Before you think this rather eccentric, you should know that the lady that followed me in the queue had the identical issue! But these staff were so helpful guiding us through the government website so that we both could renew our drivers licences online and continue with our rentals? How on earth do you find staff that are so friendly? What a rarity! The rest of the transaction went smoothly and that young woman was again so helpful hooking up my van to a 5x9 trailer, Checking every safety measure and not letting me leave until she was satisfied that I knew exactly what I was doing. I really do not understand the online check in? What is the point? We check in in advance, then stand in line and go through the same procedure at the dealership. I cannot see where i 'save' any time or hassle. This is the weakest part of your web site experience and your overall systems and performance.Ian D.

Drove 12 miles total. Put in15 Dollars in gas before returning to figuring was being generous. When I received my final statement was charged $20 extra for gas. Got ripped off. So I do not recommend UHaul.G H.
I was rented a truck that was out of service, so was switched to a different truck upon arrival. When trying to finishing checking in via the website, I wasn't able to change kilometers originally on the truck (due to it being a different truck). There system was down, so they couldn't switch me over properly. An employee came out to verify the kilometers, wrote it down, and said he'd take care of it. There were 2080 km on the vehicle. I've been charged though based on the kilometers displayed on the original truck (2721km), which means I've been charged for driving 127 kilometers. I drove 8 kilometers. So now I need to go back to the location to be refunded, because there's an almost $80 difference between what I drove and what their calculation based on the original truck is. I'd be less annoyed if that same employee wasn't seemingly losing his mind with a customer when when I entered the store, due to yet "another person" showing up without a proper form and doing things wrong.Jason L.

Stop gauging. For a short 6 mile trip you had a nerve to charge 6. L of gas also at an inflated price. Sad and pathetic. Of course somebody will say: Well thats a policy. Why not charge 10l of gas per mile and call it policy. Just as crooked but at least worth your while. You could also say, I had a choice of putting about 1,5 l of fuel (probably generous and more that reasonable). True. It's a sad way to run a business and I used to consider you a reputable, respected business. I'm disappointed and I hope you feel good about yourself stiffing me out of lousy 7 dollars. I had a credit for $20 due to a problem with U-Haul in 2018 I rented a truck yesterday and realized the coupon that was given to me had expired not too happy about that but the service at the Barton Street was very professional and courteousSTEVEN C.

On Tuesday August 17 at around 10:19 am I rented a car trailer at the U-Haul location on 2275 Barton street, Hamilton ON. When it was my turn to be served I gave my info to the gentleman at the desk and after a short while he got up and left leaving me to start over with another staff member. I had to leave the store to go and find a part they said I needed and didn't have. I thought that was strange since U Haul trailer center IS trailer rentals. The male staff member commented that I " wasn't prepared" instead of helping with the solution in a positive way. When I returned with the part I completed the paperwork and the guy was no where to be seen. Instead a young lady there who was "in training" attempted to hook up the heavy car trailer. She had a difficult time as they are very heavy and awkward. After she finished she took a photo and sent me on my way. 2 minutes later as I was turning out into the busy intersection BOOM! the trailer hitch came out of the receiver and onto the road. I stopped in the busy intersection with cars going by on either side, ran back into the store for help. Two male employees came out to put the hitch back on properly. A couple of hours later I felt that I didn't trust the connection and returned the trailer. I asked them if they would reduce the $71.13 charge and at least return half. They were reluctant to do so. Even though several employees came to my aid when the incident happened and were witnesses, the woman I spoke with commented " well I wasn't there so I can't make that call" The bottom line is that I felt like I was treated poorly and no one bothered to say "thanks for your business" as most good businesses do. I'm sorry to have to report this. I would much rather give a positive review.Peter B.
My rental was accidentally canceled . They acknowledged their error and when I asked to be rented the trailer in the lot... they said â€˜sorry, it's reserved for another person tomorrow'...I said you have 24 hours to get that fellow another trailer .. They replied . That's not the way it works...etc... Reservation canceled by accident and no follow up or attempt to rectify other than calling another U-Haul store . Terrible The second place was barely better and smart-assed customer service agent says he'll â€œ slap â€œa $500.00 charge on me if trailer not returned on the agreed date . The calling of alternate #'s to verify a rental is completely unnecessary And unprofessional ... Total unprofessionalDUNCAN H.
We were supposed to pick up our confirmed 15ft truck at 2416 Barton rd east, Hamilton (racetrax gas) - vehicle was not there. That manager was useless. Kept saying our rental truck, confirmed for 10 am less than 2 days prior, would be there at 3pm. With loading people already working we needed a truck for 10am as confirmed. (No other notices had been recieved by us.) The UHaul manager at 2275 Barton did find us a truck, smaller than the one we were supposed to have, causing extra trips for us, but he rerouted others so we could at least attempt to get our move back on track. I will never book using other than your main centers for pick up again.PATRICIAL W.

My rating is average because I was told my unit was being demolished and would have to move ASAP. I arrived at 3pm and talked to office. I was told they were transferring me in a U-box and would get one delivered to my storage unit. After about 30 minutes the guy drove up saying they were just figuring out what they are doing and would just be a little while longer. After 2 hours of waiting I went back into the office to find out what was going on. The guy called his boss and was told they are moving me to another unit not a U-box. I was told the first month was free but I needed to pay the 18.00 insurance fee. I had forgot my wallet but need to come in to pay my other unit in a couple of days. I had to then go back unpack my truck of the things I was bring home and repack with the boxes to move into the new unit. I received an email a couple of days ago saying that there was a 15.00 late fee on thec18.00. After being left sitting for over 2 hours you people are trying to charge me a late fee on 18.00 this is ridiculous.SANDRA E. | First Impressions

On May 20, 2021 I booked storage as we sold our home and need storage for a short time. The storage was book and was told given the pass code to enter after hours but the MOST important part they left out was that the access code wouldn't work until after 24hrs, hence why we were locked out. We had to leave all our furnitures in the truck, park on a street. We returned May 21 to store our stuff and was told that, no elevator, so we we forced to cancel the storage and had no were to store our furnitures. The person that was working should not have been working they didn't seem like they wanted to be at work I asked for a lower unit I have a lot of items to put in the storage I waited 40 minutes to get served once I obtained my key I went around the facility to enter my unit and realized it was on the top level I went back to say that the unit is not on the lower level and I was told that you couldn't do anything about it that I would have to go around the building and wait in line again after lugging in all my valuables onto a dolly from my vehicle into the facility and it was very frustrating therefore due to the attitude of the employee I decided to cancel and I did not go ahead with renting a storage unit from U-Haul however I did use the truck for that day to bring my valuables and stored items to another facility however the vehicle rental division as always was excellent but your staff on Barton Street is very young and they don't want to be there when you work somewhere you have to take pride in your job and make the people feel welcome and listen to the people when they are making requests because we the customers are the ones who grow your business to a large successful business that you are todayMarco F. | Overall Experience
