Improve the gearing on the trailer stand. It takes way too many revolutions to retract or extend the stand!

I arrived at the location a few minutes before 8:00am, which was my pickup time. When I entered the store, there were 2 employees in the store and I was not greeted by either one. Neither of them were assisting another customer at the time. After a few minutes of waiting, I was rudely greeted with "do you have a reservation?". Unfortunately, neither of the associates was friendly or very helpful when it was time for me to find my designated truck (there were several on the lot and the directions I was given were not clear as to the location of my rental). Conversely, when I returned the rental, the lady who checked me in was very friendly and courteous. If not for her, I would have rated this location as poor and I would never rent from this location again.

JOSEPH M.I will never recommend this place to anyone. The auto transport wasn't ready at all! It had a flat and the crank to lower the stand was broken. So instead of refunding my money they put equipment on the road that wasn't ready. Lucky for them nothing went wrong. THEY SUCK!!!!

Jill D.Reserved a unit in Williamsburg a week or so in advance. The day before the pickup I get a call that a unit is not available and closest unit is in Portsmouth. It was a huge inconvenience in my tight schedule. Very dissatisfied with u-haul as a company and gave the same rating on Yelp.

I only needed the rental for about 2 hours. I returned it before closing, returned my keys and was done. Great and quick customer service. The associates were also very nice and abut business

TERYLGERMAINE S.After several changes due to reservations not being correct on the part of uhaul,we did finally work with a location that compleyed helping us .We were to receive a $50 discount for our rental to which we did not receive.I believe the reservations need to be followed up by staff in double checking the locations and hours of operation,in future I had more success and not one single mix up in going through home depot.Sad for the fact uhaul is suppose to specialize with this type of service.

LUCILLENOBLE P.Unfortunately I had a bad experience at your 2855 Airline Blvd. location in Portsmouth, VA. At approximately 4:00 PM on Saturday 20 March, 2021 I returned the 5x8 trailer I had rented. I travelled over 1,000 miles with your trailer and avoided backing it up for safety and maneuverability concerns. When I arrived at you Airline Blvd. location I pulled up to the sign “return rental equipment hereâ€. I went inside to locate an attendant. When I went back outside one of your employees asked me if I was returning and I stated yes, he then stated that was “going to have to move the trailerâ€, no please or could you help me out. Your employee stated that I would have to move the trailer I was returning. I stated that I was not comfortable backing up the trailer to move it to his desired location. After I displayed my displeasure I backed up the trailer and moved it to the desired location. Upon getting the trailer at the desired location your employee made the wise comment “that wasn't too hard was itâ€. An unnecessary comment that did not set well with me. I stated what is the sense of having a sign “return rental equipment here†when it was not the case with my return. Bottom line here is the customer is NOT always correct, however a little courtesy and respect on the part of your employee could have gone a long way of avoiding a conflict/disagreement and negative review. Thank you for opportunity to review your service.

JAMESHOWARD P.Have safe vehicles. I almost died in South Carolina. The brakes and power steering went out in the truck . I had my daughter with me and she was scared to death. All that was said was sorry for the inconvenience and I was refunded $300. The truck almost killed us. I will never recommend Uhaul to any of my military friends. Unsafe old trucks with faulty brakes. Take that truck out of inventory before you get a death lawsuit.

DAVIDCHARLES H.When I do online check-in it should not take 1 HR of waiting to receive my service. Hire two cashiers and one or two outside people for weekends. Not 2 cashiers in which both were hooking up trailers and cleaning the vehicles upon return. Returning the trailer I literally waited in the bay for 20 min before going inside to two cashiers sitting there and ignored me. Finally the one unhooked the trailer after I told them to and tried charging me for insurance for both days which I did not choose. They then said they would be right back and I waited 10 minutes only to see them helping another customer on the opposite side of the lot. I just left and they did adjust the charge the next day . Customer service needs to step it up. Its a hit and miss there as I have rented there many times. This time was ridiculous on the wait times both getting and returning the trailer and the unauthorized extra charge

Tiara B.I had difficulty with getting my phone to work with the scan application for returning the vehicle after hours. I would suggest that some folks or people are phone geeks or aware with the technology of their own phone. I have no idea or clue how to get my phone to do nothing either than dial up numbers. Videos are cool, but if I am able to bridge the app and my phone then I need a human being to assist in the process. I believe that something still requires a human being on the phone and not a robot.

They called my brother in law over 20 times saying we reserved a truck and never picked it up but we reserved it at one location then they sent us to another location because they didnt have the size we needed. Then tried to tell me i owed the money still even though i had already paid. Also when i came back for my refund since we over estimated the miles we would be using, they tried giving me the change from the receipt from the day before, instead of the money i was owed. I explained I already received my change from the day before, that i needed a refund from the drop off.
