Just wanted to make a quick comment on how professional Michael and his team was with my whole experience. From the beginning, he went out of his way to get a less common hitch for my car and drove to another location to get my hitch so I didn't have to wait. He was honest about not working on my car before but was confident in getting it done and made me feel great. He did have a professional and little difficult conversation on the minor incident on my car and ensured it would be taken care of and handled the situation in a fantastic manner; mistakes happen, and it was a learning experience, so there no need to be upset. This was my first time getting a hitch on my car and not having any knowledge. I felt like I was in good hands. I would definitely recommend to my peers to get any hitch projects done at this specific locationTommi G.

Had an issue with the individual next to us. He wanted our spot, so he did not park his trailer far back enough for our RV to fit. So, we had to move to another spot, because he wasn't willing to scoot back or scoot over, because there was alittle (some) room left. I am a small person and didn't need to open the door to the unit all the way for me to get into it. The door to the unit would slide back down to about 3 feet off the floor. I was repeatedly harassed by staff for having the door closed even though it wasn't closed. I felt as if they didn't want me there at all. I saw several units where people spent the entire day in the unit. My alarm system was never armed because I forgot to put my code into the pin pad several times, but the alarm never sounded when I opened the door. Do not go to this location for installation of anything!!! The mechanic Michael and his assistant who were supposed to install my hitch, damaged my vehicle on two separate occasions! On August 9th I brought my car into the location to have a hitch installed. After keeping my car all day I was called and told that my back well nuts were rusted on and they were unable to install the hitch because they had no tools to get through the well nits. I took my car over to a mechanic off of 8th street to get the well nuts looked at. The 8th street mechanic who informed me that there wasn't any issue with the well nuts from all that they could tell. They did a thorough inspection and decided to flush and clean the well nuts to make it easier for the UHaul Mechanics. After I paid the 8th Street mechanics. I returned the car to UHaul on August 11th for them to install the hitch. After keeping my car the entire day, the mechanic named Michael called and told me that my rear well nuts were now cross threaded and they wouldn't be able to install the hitch. I explained that that was impossible since the mechanics made sure that the well nuts had no rust and were lined up just SO the hitch could be installed. They insisted that the well nuts were cross threaded and they didn't have the tools to proceed. I took the car back to the 8th Street mechanics and noticed that my car was making a very loud sound when it had previously been quiet. When the 8th Street Mechanics inspected my vehicle they could tell immediately that UHaul mechanic Michael had re-damaged my vehicle. They had been the ones to cross thread the well nuts and from the damage being done a second time the mechanics were able to confirm that UHaul had done the initial damage as well. The 8th Street mechanics did me a courtesy and called UHaul on N. Academy directly to speak to the mechanic Michael and see where they were running into issues. The 8th Street Mechanics were diligent in asking about the tools being used, the size of drill bits and any information so that I could get the hitch installed by UHaul without further damage to my vehicle. The mechanic also confirmed that the only way to cause the sound I was now hearing in my car was by being lazy and allowing the muffler to hang during the installation instead of removing it. This stretched out the casing around the muffler and now my car makes a horrible sound when it was once quiet as a mouse when I drove. There is no way to fix the damage done to my muffler and it's casing. AND I had to pay out of pocket to fix the damage they did. At that point the 8th Street Mechanics offered to install the hitch for me so that a proper install could be done with no further damage to my vehicle. They guaranteed if I brought my car back to UHaul they would damage it again and I agreed with them because it already happened twice I called the N. Academy UHaul location to explain that I wanted to purchase the hitch so it could be installed elsewhere and communicated how upset I was that my vehicle was handled so carelessly and that my time was completely wasted. Michael, the mechanic apologized and said they would reimburse me for the cost of having the wiring installed as well as pay for the initial cost of taking the vehicle to the 8th street mechanics. When I returned to the N. Academy UHaul, manager Shawn Miles screamed at me! He told me that I wasn't getting any kind of refund unless he said so and he saw no grounds for me getting a refund. I told him that it was HIS employee that communicated this to me on the phone and that I was telling him what was promised to me. He continued to berate me, alluded to me trying to swindle the company and then told me that all calls are recorded so if that mechanic did offer me a refund that the employee would be fired and I would have to live with that. I was appalled and deeply embarrassed. He had no reservations about treating me like scum in front of other customers and his employees. In every part of this situation I was the victim and manager Shawn Miles treated me like I was some scammer trying to take advantage. Another employee suggested Shawn contact the mechanic and on speakerphone the mechanic confirmed that I had been put through the ringer and the least they could offer me was a refund of what I had already paid for labor of the wiring that could be completed when the hitch couldn't be completed. Shawn got quiet and started to process the refund. He didn't apologize for how he treated me or for screaming. He didn't apologize for the damage done to my vehicle. He didn't apologize for my time being wasted over 4 days when I was preparing for a move across country. This was a heart wrenching experience with me and I will never recommend this UHaul to anyone. They lack necessary skills to deal with the vehicles that come in and completely avoid accountability when called out. 0/10 Do NOT Recommend!!!Kalilah A.

I rented a small trailer from this location yesterday morning and brought it back to the lot yesterday evening. I received a call today asking if I was planning on bringing the trailer back. The first thing I wondered was: â€œDid she bother to look at the drop off point before she called me?â€ I sat on hold for 20+min to speak to a representative who said this happens often enough. How could this be commonplace? Now, I'm wondering if uhaul is gonna come after me for stealing their trailer? I call the local store, and tell them I turned it in yesterday. They say they're going to look around the lot and give me a call. They call me back and say they found it. How and why does this happen as often as the uhaul representative said it does? How could they call the customer before they thoroughly scan their worksite, or at least maybe check their drop point? Bad training and bad management I would guess? If an employee can't identify a trailer at the drop off point, then maybe they should get help from the manager and they should address this PRIOR to calling a customer asking if they were planning on returning the rented property. Pretty awful. Someone, help this store. Please. Actually do something, take real action, this store needs it. Uhaul is making customers take valuable time out of their day, for absolutely nothing. The 2 gentlemen who installed my hitch were very kind and very efficient. They explained everything to me and even showed me how the operation should work.. Because of the vehicle I have, the electric hookup has to be handed a bit differently than most. I am careful to do exactly as they showed me. Everything is working just fine on this "maiden" trip with the hitch. The trailer follows just like it should and the lights on the trailer are doing as expected.. Those guys worked around a few problems - not of their making - and when the proper equipment was available they did a great job. My only complaint on the day of installation was that the chairs provided for customers to sit on while waiting are VERY uncomfortable.Sandy H.

The workers tried to make a decent situation out of a poor one. I had to drive (and pay) for an extra 7 miles because "something" happened to the truck at my original location and it was an "in town" rental. Also there are no gas stations around this location so I had to drive more miles to get gas. Staff were nice, especially Juan when the truck was returned.James V.
The computers were slow/buggy and despite completing ALL the required information online, the agent asked several questions already answered (eg mileage estimate). Took well over 30 min before I had the truck and agent needed 5 min with the lock box just to retrieve the keys. The 17' truck I reserved was not available. Also, I do owe thanks to Devon in Traffic for a call 2 days earlier alerting me that my reservation HAD been moved to a new location, without any warning from UHaul. My requested location was walking distance. The new reservation was 10 miles away. INCOMPREHENSIBLE! THE MAIN ISSUE ... I will NEVER use UHaul again as long as UHaul insists on a 2nd point of contact that they MUST reach in a live phone call. That's a violation of MY PRIVACY and theirs, and there is nothing UHaul can say to convince me that is necessary. No third party should EVER have to be roped in, especially not at the last minute, to complete a transaction. MAJOR FAIL.Pieter V.

A thousand times better than last time I used this location in April of 2021. When I ended up putting a hole in my rear bumper trying to hook up the trailer myself while you had some older guy bull s******* with another employee somewhere in the back with no one in the front lobby. Not to mention when they installed my trailer hitch earlier that month the car came back to me with the driver side window stuck open. Luckily I was able to toggle the switch and window started working again. No way was that a coincidence.Raul G.

Pros: Convenient location. Manager took us through a detailed walk through of where our space was and how to access it. Was impressed when we received a call from the store inquiring about whether we were moving out and was able to do it conveniently over the phone. Cons: It seemed that no other employee was fully operational without the manager holding their hand. This was evident it was an ongoing issue as this appeared to be the case the multiple times we went in. (that must be miserable on both sides) This created a backlog every time you went into the office. We were unable to open both doors with our card when accessing our unit and moving things in and out but just had to bear with it because the office was backlogged due to the manager being the only one able to help anyone fully.Rachael C. | Overall Experience

Very happy with almost all facets of U-Haul Storage experience, including quality of the facility and helpfulness of the staff, and the convenience of combining storage and vehicle rental on same site. I contacted U-Haul almost one month before we vacated the storage unit we had for over 6-1/2 years at Galley and N. Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We also went in to rent a 10 foot truck to move our belongings out one week before our next rent was due. They still showed we owed rent for the next month on their website. I contacted the store and he indicated he had a number of new employees. The only complaint was that I had to switch credit cards , and I was diligent to make sure it got changed over before my payment was due. I got charged late fees several times, because the person at uhaul did not put my new card in. This happened twice. So, I had to pay late fees for something that was neglected on the side of the uhaul staff. I didn't pursue it, because I knew I was leaving. Unit wasn't swept out and there was an animal trap inside of my unit. Staff was amazing and helpful and had a good amount of carts to safely and easily transport a decent amount of items at once. I stored unit since March, but my daughter and son-in-law dropped truck off because I was still living in Arizona. I tried to get a 2nd unit reserved for my last delivery in September. It took forever to get someone on the phone and usually I was transferred to UHaul main hub, not N Academy site which I wanted. I got reservation numbers and was cancelled out 3 separate times!! (This was time consuming and frustrating since I was still living in Arizona. My son-in-law finally got me a unit closer to their home! I was told different things by different u-haul offices. One would reserve a storage for me then when I show up it never was available to begin with. I understand the concept of "first come , first serve." I understand that u-haul has many people canceling or not showing up when there's a reservation. What I don't understand is if that's how it's done, why would should I reserve a storage if it's not even going to be reserved for me? To reserve is to book in advance, to secure. If it's not secure, why offer? I wish the u-haul company gave clientes a chance by giving us a time limit on our reservation and if we don't show, our reservation is canceled immediately. But now I know what I know and I won't be making any reservations, walk-ins is best when it comes to u-haul. But over-all service was average , good people and good customer service, just not very good at communications between different office locations. Tina, Lili, and Kaitlyn were super friendly and helpful. They made me feel as though I was the only customer needing help. Meaning, they went out of their way to help me with my situation and were very accommodating. If it was not for those 3 ladies, our arrival to this area would have be even worse.
