I went onto the app and put in an order to reserve a 26' truck. It was for a move from Glendale, AZ to Surprise, AZ. A distance of 18.7 miles. The initial reservation was for around $164.00. When I go onto the app to sign in it asks where I'm driving the truck to. I put in the address, and now I'm being charged $.89 a mile even though it's still with the Phoenix metro area. I go pick up the truck and now I'm being charged just over $200. I'm told the truck only has 1/8 of a tank of gas, but if I bring it back with a 1/4 tank I can get a $13 credit. Ok. I leave to drive to my residence to start loading, look at the gas gauge and see it's under 1/8 of a tank. Must be rounding up I guess. My residence is about 4 miles from the rental center, so no huge distance to drive. The truck sits and gets loaded until I leave for the new address in Surprise. When it did get the vehicle loaded I try to lock up the door for the night with the lock attached to the truck door. the key turned the lock but it would't open. I tried this for about 15 minutes, still won't open. I'm tired and hungry and not in the mood to deal with a garbage lock, so I just go to bed hoping nothing gets stolen. Thankfully, nothing did. I get about a mile from my home and just happen to look at the gas and see it's at the red line. I figure I would just pull in and get some gas on the way, but the gas stations were on the other side of the road with a physical median. So I figure I'll just get close to the new residence because I know there's an accessible station there. I pull in and put in $40.00, and it puts me just over 1/4. I drive to the new residence that is about 1/2 mile. I unload the vehicle and have to head back to the my house in Glendale to finish loading the rest of my stuff. Get it loaded and get ready to head back when I take a look at the gas gauge. I'm back to a true 1/8 of a tank. I know they don't get good gas mileage, but really? I didn't drive fast because I didn't want my stuff thrown all over the back of the truck. Forgot to mention, the brakes on the truck were squealing like they were ready to be changed. I get done unloading and get ready to take the truck back. I stopped and put in some gas to put me over the 1/4 tank for the rebate. I get in and it's the first line above 1/4, so I think I'm good. I drive to the original Uhaul dealer to drop it off. I didn't drive fast, because you can't in those trucks, but now I'm under 1/4 and to almost 1/8 tank in 18 miles. I turn in the vehicle and now I'm charged even more to where the amount is now 241. No explanation no nothing. You're kidding me with this. My original estimate was 164 and I'm at 241? I mention the truck brakes and I'm asked are they grinding? I said they weren't, but they were squealing and may need to be replaced. The only reason this rating is a below average and not poor is because I was able to move my items. Other than that, I would never use Uhaul again. I understand upselling or something needed you didn't anticipate, but this is ridiculous! My 164 was for the exact items I put in the app that I used during the move. Nothing more. Then to be charged .89 a mile for what? Depreciation of the vehicle that already needed attention and for a move of 18.7 miles? Never again.

I’ve been with U-Haul for a long time and I have to say overall I’m not a happy camper with U-Haul this time utilize their help with movers and after booking 10 hours with the first set of two people I got exactly one truckload done with a distance of about 5 miles left me hanging halfway in the middle of one job I spent the weekend paying for a truck waiting on another set of movers, I have to say these movers although they did get the job done. They did a bunch of stuff very well. Some improvement. My only complaint on this journey was not the actual location but U-Haul policy actually charge me to utilize a U-Haul at $70 a day to sit in my driveway , because the people that they outsource their moving moving service, we’re not very very professional

When I picked up my truck lady behind the counter was on the phone and then when she ended the call, she complained excessively about being off the clock and having to continue working. I was made to feel like I was a major inconvenience to her and she was annoyed by my presence because she was off the clock. Her negative attitude and complaining was not appropriate. Then, my conversation with John after I returned my truck was not the most helpful. My garage door opener was left on the.Passenger side visor. I called immediately when I got home and realized I couldn’t get into my house. I knew that was exactly where I left it, because I saw it there just as we were leaving to return the truck. I wanted to retrieve it before we left my house and the door was locked. My son told me he would just give it to me when we got there but he forgot. The conversation with John turned into an unnecessary argument as he was insisting that it was not there, but he didn’t even look because he had already sent the truck out. My problem isn’t that the item was missed on your inspection. My problem was he was adamant that it wasn’t there when I knew it was, and he seemed unwilling to accept that they missed it on the inspection as he stated, “I don’t know what to tell you” and “It isn’t there”. I did thankfully get my opener back.

Amanda CREMOVE THE DOLLY AND BLANKETS. If I needed a dolly I would have rented a dolly. I did rent blankets. The extra ones that I didn't need that came in the box were in the way and wasted valuable space that I could have used for items I was moving, and I was constantly worried that I might accidentally bump into them and break the seal and get charged for them. Those are terrible for the customer. Please ask up front if they are wanted in the truck or not. I would have much preferred them not being in there. Everything else was good.

Blame inflation or whatever, but having your monthly charge increase more than once a year seems a little greedy. Comparatively I was able to rent a larger storage unit for less a year and a half later a head of the next increase. I get that I'm a captive audience...but not that captive, obviously.

So we have damaged items some that are not able to be replaced and we are just out because we did not buy your insurance. Upset that you had a building issue and never informed us the tenants as to the water issue as we may have been able to save of the items and or move them out of the water path. I feel that not having your insurance is a cop out on your part as to not having to be responsible to your tenants for issues with your building. Thanks for your time.

I had to rent 3 different storage units because there wasn’t anything big enough for a4 bedroom house. I never received my free first months rent for any of my units. The security guard told me that he needed to shut down for 10 minutes to set the alarm at 4:50 pm. Then at 5:20 we still couldn’t get in to the building and had to return the truck by 6 pm. We even had issues with returning the truck. The website is completely screwed up. The employees are rude. I will never rent from this uhaul ever again.

Original plan was to rent a trailer & storage unit from the same facility. Uhaul trailer rental site near our home had the size trailer we preferred to rent but didn't have the size/type of storage unit we preferred, thus leading us to rent storage area at this faciilty. Very disappointed/frustrated with check-in process. Would be nice to have a streamlined online check-in thus reducing the time at the facility counter (we experienced this type of check-in with other Uhaul trailer rental facility)

Bell road/ front storage building entrance locks up 15 minutes prior to the office closing (be aware of the office hours), and doors cannot be reopened unless an alarm goes off. Best to use the back entrance with longer hours for access. Access is not 24 hours. My rental unit on second floor was far from any entrances and made the move in and out twice as long, lots of walking. Instruction board at back entrance mentions an elevator I thought, but none. Moving real household goods up the steps without any ramps, really sucks. Renter beware. Phoenix storage may be hard to find, so do not expect the "free month" of storage after renting a truck from U-Haul. Emails from manager: do not expect an email reply, just call or go into the office if any issues. Pay monthly rent on time, we saw a lot of lock-outs due to late or non-payment.

Last load had to be pushed around building to back door loading dock, other tenets explained how to enter my code in 2 different places, pushed load through back building to front building, and then unloaded. Parked in back, truck return on side, office in front, and after 2 long days, the extra walking around the building twice was unfortunate. 1st month storage fee waived if U-Haul truck rental, but I forgot to mention it, even though both reservations were made at same time. Message left and pending.

After wasting over an hour, we then had to actually run to load everything into unit before 10pm after access hours stopped. However this is a huge thing for the staff not to inform customers.
