Engine check light was on both of the trucks I tried to rent. Had a problem with return. First truck that had to be returned wasn't closed and tried to charge me $1500 for 50 miles of travel on the second truck. Was told the truck had a flat floor over the phone and it wasn't.

This was hands down the best experience I’ve had using U-Haul service. I started using U-Haul in 2017 for business sporting events a few times a year. After about a half dozen uses in 3+ years this one tops them all.

I’ve never had issue with renting a uhaul especially at this location but i feel its absurd that they make you take a picture with their private phones upon taking your photo ID. I’ve never known this to be apart of uhauls procedures but it was very uncomfortable and felt like they were implying that I would have taken the uhaul and not return it. Overall I would not recommend this company to a friend under these circumstances.

Let a person know there not able to have your product for 24 hrs be rental starts. I have never been told I needed to reserve a truck or trailer before, when I see lots of product on site. I been lucky, but when i have rented I've rent for 24 hrs. Rent @ 11am means bring back next morning at 11am not 8:30. I needed that next morning for my last pick up at 9am next morning. So now I have to rent again for Monday morning. This is not any reflection upon the help that I received from your staff. They were both very nice and harm.

Every time i come here to do business my gas tank is never what the print out says it would be. So if i don't check i would be screwed and have to pay extra gas. Also, customer service is horrible here. My last visit only one attendant was there in the building. She went to the bathroom and had me wait a long time and no one was available to help me. Staff needs to be retrained for better customer service. Perhaps greet customers when we arrive and have a smile on their face.

UHaul implemented new procedures 2 months ago of obtaining a minimum of three contact numbers, photographing one's ID and photographing the person. These new procedures are very offensive and probably illegal. When asked why? The staff replied that they had a number of thefts and false IDs. So they are penalizing the 98% for the bad 2% and not in the most effective way. As a former law enforcement officer and risk manager, there are other ways to better protect assets and screen patrons without sholving it in their faces and offending them. I rented from this place many times, but will probably seek such services elsewhere next time.

I think customer service via phone is usually on point however, when you get into the store it comes across as a little dry but then again, the majority of customer service reps at this location seems to be relatively young (adults). One day I had gone in to pick up a truck but no one was manning the desk. While waiting, I began perusing the supplies and came across a young lady in the back (office) on her phone. I asked her if someone was working the front desk. She replied yes and told me the gentleman would be with me shortly. Shortly was another 5-7 min after having already waited. I had to go outside and politely interrupt a 'shootin' the breeze' non-business conversation. Both the young man (who's pretty nice) and the person with whom he was conversing came in. Respectfully, my advise would be to train/re-train this group of young adults on the qualities of good customer service. I didn't mind the wait but it would have been nice for someone to have been present and express that someone would be with me shortly, suggesting I'd look over items that could perhaps suggest me with my move. I frequent this location because it's closest to me and while the equipment (truck) is clean and maintained, the yard (drop off area) could use a little more attention. Thank you

The procedures on late return by the apps, in very hard to follow, one of the employee on the site who went home late, don’t even want to teach how to do the return, that’s my concern and prostration.

U-Haul Hayward Jackson street has upped their game over! My online reservation was ready to go after 3 hours. Before driving off I received a text with pictures of the vehicle for me to review and note details about the vehicle. Thank you U-Haul!

This is worst experience with Uhaul, when we start the engine, the oil lever dropped to half and we told the clerk in the office, but we didn't realize this was gas tank leakage issue, when we drove to the bridge to San Mateo, the gas lever dropped very fast and we was lucky to find a gas station before gas was gone completely, we filled the gas and found the gas drilled down and found the tank was broken, then we called the office and road assistant, it took 3 hours that we got the call from road assistance, we were told there would be another 90 minutes to wait, since we need move our staff as promised, we asked the lady from road assistance if we could leave the van in gas station and we could go the nearby Uhaul to rent a new one, she agreed, so we took the Uber to the new location. When we back back to Hayward location to ask for refund, the lady was very rude and professional to use, she would not refund the money to us, today charged me gasoline with over $48, i filled the gas with $13.47 but was leaked. Beside refunding my prepaid cost, who should pay my time and $13.47, uber fee?

my reservation was at 9:00 am, on 1/25/2020, I got 1st van at 9:13am, I checked car whit a flat tire, can't drive. Talked a staff, wait about one hour, got 2nd cargo van, I drove the car to gas station try to add more gas, spent $5 and found the gas tank was leaking. I returned back to the uhaul, they try to find another car, I were told will five me back $5 credit for gas. I waited another hour to another car, and didn't get any credit. the staff give me the manager name, asked me call manager on following monday

When we picked up the truck in Hayward it said there was a 1/4 tank of gas. By the time we got to Castro Valley, it said the tank was nearly empty and needed gas. Sending a rental truck out nearly empty isn’t good service.

Right tail light was out on the trailer though the gentleman that hooked it up said that all the lights were working fine. This was a safety hazard for myself and others on the road because I wasn’t aware it was out while driving on the highway. Other than that, staff were super friendly helpful and well educated about their products.

(1) When I picked up truck, your rep incorrectly noted my fuel gauge at 1/4 tank. It was closer to 1/8 tank. (2) When I returned truck, my fuel gauge was at 3/4 a tank. Why is there no refund to the customer for the extra fuel YOU received upon truck return? U-Haul policy to rip off customer? (3) As with car rental companies, when you pickup your U-Haul rental truck, maybe U-Haul policy should have the fuel tank at FULL and require customer return truck at full or be charged a fee. Seems like that policy would make better sense, no?

It appears this location has an issue with people stealing gas from the trucks after hours. I received my truck on empty. Sales clerk told me to bring the truck back on empty. When performing close out after hours, I was charged $28.00 for gas. That should not have happened. Other than that, my experience was great.

When I picked up my rental (10 ft) truck, the gas tank was on empty. They told me I had only 3 miles to go to get gas, but I can return it on empty. But of course I returned it with a quarter tank filled; kinda impossible to return it on empty.

Attempted to use your app. It is crap and I had to go to the counter. At counter, had to go through the order process again ... twice. Once I got the truck, it had a faulty tire air pressure sensor ... no real problem ... but it was distracting having the warning light on and every so often the thing would chime and alert that the sensor was faulty.

The truck we rented had an empty gas which was not an issue, but when we put gas in it, it had a leak. Luxkily we lived near the rental place so we brought it back. They supposedly fixed it so we went to get has again. It was still leaking. Went to the store and this time they went with us to check and saw it was still leaking and fixed it there. They should’ve checked this before renting out the truck

Unfriendly staff who seemed uninterested in helping or answering basic questions. Contracted me for an incorrect trailer. Gave me a trailer that was filthy and had garbage and debris in the bottom. One of the worst UHaul locations I've ever been to, and I rent from UHaul frequently.

Their system was down in the morning so we were basically having to do an online check in. Therefore, if you have lots of time, know what your're doing, and have your own internet access on your phone, then yes I would recommend them.

I made a reservation to pick-up a trailer at 10am for a 6 hr rental. I arrived on time and was the 4th customer in line. The first customer was already being helped and we all waited 25 more minutes while your person searched other branches to help find a car trailer the customer reserved that was not there for them. While I can appreciate wanting to help someone, 25 minutes plus the time before I walked in? Really?? By the time I was helped and was ready for the trailer to be hooked up to my truck it was 10:50am... I then had to wait another 10 mins for the only other person there attached the trailer, because he was attached to an unhappy customer talking on the phone to one of your managers.. Once he got to me he said there were 2 people that didn't show up and he was not being trained on the register either. So, 1 full hour to get this done. About an hour after leaving the lot I received a call to ensure I was going to have the trailer back by 4pm... Which I asked and was told yes, this is based on 10am to 4pm. Are you kidding me?! When I said/asked did you notice that it took a full hour past my reservation time for them to finally be done with the pick-up, she said that she just wanted to ensure that I had it back by 4pm because someone else had reserved it and she did not want to, but would charge me $300.00 for a cancelled reservation. Simply Outrageous to be threatened to be charged extra for your team's failure!!!

After a glitch in the system had the rented truck being almost mistakenly reported as being stolen after just one day, Uhaul took care of the problem quickly, and comp'd me a free lock and extra day and mileage on truck rental. Returning the equipment was subsequently hassle free.

The changes that was made. Such as the evening drop off was very inconvenient having to have an Account And although I dropped it off at the exact time it was closing it wasn’t a simple here is the keys and truck no I had to open an account and then charged extra $20 In order to return it so I didn’t have to be bothered with Opening an account. I would tell folks but warn them about these annoying changes

The pickup was extra dirty inside. Also, in the last 10 days I rented 3 times, two in Santa Clara, but in Hayward the employee required me 3 contact phones. You loose one costumer.

When I opened the driver door, all the doors went to unlocked, even the side and back doors. If someone did not check, they could walk away thinking the doors were still locked. Maybe change the lock settings in the van. Thank you. Otherwise all went well.

NEVER AGAIN - I want to POST YELP, GOOGLE and whatever reviews to NOT come to this location Called in the morning to request blankets and dolly - rep said she would add to order. Showed up and had to wait 35 minutes, while 3 reps were walking around and only 1 female was helping 2 guests before me. The rep that helped me looked high acted high and then told me that they had no blankets or dollys And that the truck was on EMPTY - complete empty and hopefully i can make it to gas station told him to to give me another truck he said ALL the trucks were EMPTIED or siphoned the night before and they are leaving it to the customers to fill it up. He walked away I walked to the door and see blanket pack and dollys i asked the female rep who was nice and she said yes we have them... and she told the guy did you not look and she added them to my order.

The agent (Michael Kennedy) who check the Uhaul truck to us was rude. He did not seem like he enjoy his job. He never explain that we will get a text that prompt us to note any damage to the truck. When I asked him, he pointed to my phone and told me to just check my phone. Please hire someone who is more upbeat about their job.

Employees seemed to be not motivated. Overall uhaul as a company was very disappointing yesterday from sending all over to find a a trailer wasted about 90 to a 100 miles before I finally got a trailer. towing scale needs to be adjusted properly so customers are showing up with a reservation and no way to get what they need. Fix your company uhaul
