Robert Q.This location should be better managed. Our corporate account was flagged by the GM because of a billing discrepancy caused by Uhaul team members at this location. As a GM you should take ownership of mistakes made by your team and correct them in an ethical way instead of placing blame on the customer. We have rented over 200 trucks from this location and as of 2023 we have always had a negative customer service experience. This location needs a new GM and more knowledgeable and respectful employees.

sharlene H.They did not have workers to load the pods the first day and we had to wait over 2 hours for them to find someone. We were short one pod so I ordered an extra one for the following day only to find out when we got there to pick it up, they had no one to load it and we would have to come back the next day. They did not have the correct number of pods ready on the first day. They could not locate 2 of the pods when we came to pick them up after storage. They tried to give me empty pods when we came to pick up my stored pods. They chose to put a second lock on a pod and then didn't tell us or give us a key to open it so we had to cut it off. Customer service did not help when trying to correct mistakes with the local site. I will never use your services again..

James P.When the truck was ordered, my wife specifically asked for one with a ramp. I drove an hour to pick up the piano I needed to move, and discovered there was no ramp on the truck. Three of us then had to life a 600-700 pound piano by hand and put it in the back of the truck. When I returned to unload the piano, I stopped by my house and picked up a wooden ramp I have previously built to move something else and that helped unloading. This was a sad experience considering I spent over $300.00 for a truck that was not equipped with what was requested.

I went in not knowing much about the process, and I came out with almost a 1000 dollar bill. I will literally never rent from U-Haul again. Johnna W.My complaints: When I arrived after 2 day trip with all my belongings, I was assigned a storage near an exit for bringing things inside. I am 68 yrs & was helping, so being close to trailer was necessary. When attendant walked us to our unit #1008, it was empty but someone had left lock on & you could only open it half way. So attendant walked back to office to find another unit. However, this unit was VERY far from an exit! He said he could go back through the long maze of units & return to the office to find us a closer one but he was working alone & that would be a problem. So we took the unit. But then my chosen code would not let us access either the facility or the unit. So back & forth we went from back of building to office trying to get help to get in. Sadly, they were unable to fix the problem. So we had to prop open outside door with my box of belongings. The sliding door continually tried to close over & over the hours we were there. It was very hot & humid outside. The attendant informed us this had never happened before. But I would be unable to enter the unit bldg or my storage unit until it was fixed by the boxes mounted on outside of bldg. So until fixed I must go during office hours & get attendant to let me in. Although the young man(attendant) was very kind & truly sorry, I think he felt overwhelmed by the situation & I think UHAUL was understaffed at this facility to attend to the customers needs. This definitely needs to be corrected so things run far more smoothly for your paying customers. I even started crying because I was emotionally and physically exhausted & just needed to get the work done. Other than that, my experience with UHAUL was fairly uneventful & hopefully the boxes mounted outside for me to gain entry will be fixed. I have a ton of things to address here because I moved here from NE Iowa, including finding a place to live as I am currently staying with family. Thankyou for your time in letting me explain the situation.

U-Haul was very helpful at meeting our needs and very thankful! Even tho we needed truck another day and a larger storage unit, they made it happen.

Had to replace the driver windshield wiper as it fell off just before I ran into the big rain. Joplin store refunded the cost of the wiper. Would still recommend U haul to family and friends. They assigned me a storage space inside and key to the facility. When went back and checked, to my surprise, I recognized that the space assigned to me was already occupied. I came back and informed the front desk representative. Then they went back and checked, and told me that this space is occupied and they cannot help. Also, they told they don’t have any storage spaces available. After spending 1.5 h in this office, l left handed and staff’s are do not even bothered to find me an alternate space. After coming back home, I wrote an email to the manager explaining the situation and no response yet (after three days I am writing this). This describes how good/bad this business is for you.
Rajesh S. | First ImpressionsI’m actually on the fence as what to put for number 6. There was 3 homeless people that were in the process of getting asked to leave the premise bc of living in a unit. They knew a certain passcode that allowed them access in and out as they pleased. Made my wife and I very uncomfortable having 3 people practically standing around, watching us for an hour get items from our rental truck to inside the storage unit. We called the front desk, they came back and checked on us but that was about it. We rented 2-26’ trucks and 2 climate controlled units in a 2 week span- probably spent close to $2,500. On the 2nd truck (which I had to go to 3 locations to get everything), the rental truck was returned technically later than they expected. Even though we were unloading the truck on site, we didn’t turn it in about 3 hours late. Because of that, they charged me another whole day of rental. I called both the store and the 800 number and both ‘passed the buck’, saying there was nothing that could be done. I’m in customer service and know that is not how you deal with a customer who just spent a few thousand dollars from your brand or establishment.

I went to start unloading my car and the police where there, fire department, and EMT to assist a no responsive man. As I headed to my unit there was a woman who looked like she had been beaten. I heard a dog in a unit somewhere in the facility. It was scary to be back there alone. I was never offered an upgrade when I said the 5 by 10' was too small. Needless to say I'm not happy.

Staff stated there were no units available and unsure why I was able to reserve a unit on line or over the phone the day before. A staff member walked the entire facility and stated if I was willing to wait a couple hours one may be available as there was a previous tenant moving out. I received a call a few hours later stating there was an open unit and I would have first priority to it. Staff handled the situation very well. My next issues deals with pricing of moving items at location. Prices on labels do not match what they ring up as. I’ve questioned this multiple times and even taken pictures showing that there is inaccurate pricing on the labels and shelves. I have never been offered an adjustment even when I have directly asked for it. I am just told that prices vary which is very, this is extremely frustrating expecting to pay one thing when it’s really 3-6$ more per item.

We moved units once to have a bigger space and during the moving, the employee gave false information and the unit was occupied. So, we moved to another one and the employee had to move a mini fridge that was being stored. After we were in, the next visit the access card did not work and had to get them reassigned to the right unit. These are all issues that were solved and not a huge deal, but the biggest problem was the dimly lit storage unit and hallway. I had to go to this unit often by myself, a woman, and I never felt comfortable or safe. We moved to a new location that works better for us, but I would suggest making sure everything is well lit in the future.

Then we just had issues with the lock being put on when we were paid up, them not having a unit on auto-pay.. one time we went in and someone cut the power and we were stuck in the bay.. umm, i had a card that was about to expire so they cut it off and charged me a late fee... umm there's more... it was non-stop at this storage facility. We have never been more happy to be out of a unit. It was worth taking a day to move it to another.

My whole family stored our belongings in a u-haul facility, and because we made this mistake we are left with nothing. Every single item was stolen in broad daylight, while your employees watched. I have the only key card, part of your top notch security, yet somehow it was bypassed and intruders gained entry to my unit. I purchased my keys from you, yet other people had the same keys. The video recording obviously was not functioning because if it had been, this would have been resolved already. So, in conclusion, my experience with u-haul was the nightmare i wake up to daily. Precious belongings that can never be replaced have vanished and your doing nothing. I have waited for over three weeks for a response and so far, other than the general manager of the joplin 7th Street location next to wal mart, accusing me of stealing my own things and being anything but helpful I have not heard or seen anything to facilitate or remedy this horrendous tragedy. I give this company a negative rating. Less than zero.

I was on my way back out to get another load when I came around the corner, I startled the couple & the smell of paint about knocked me out. I couldn't get outside to the fresh air quick enough before I thought I would choke to death. Since this facility is supposed to be monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week that behaviour was very upsetting cause they are not only putting their life endanger they also put mine as well. And they werent the only people I saw or definately could smell what they were doing either. Not sure if I will keep my belongings in this facility very long. But it helped in my time of need at the moment.

Asked for a specific locker number because it was close to the loading area and was moving big heavy furniture without much help and was told it was rented and for a month no one ever moved into the locker you can tell by the tag on the door. Went to rent a truck and was told none are available when the lot was literally full of trucks. It seems like staff is honestly just lazy. Will never rent a storage unit here again.

Crystail Y. | First ImpressionsStorage unit had many bugs inside and mice droppings/urine. We did not have any food items stored in the unit. When asked, management said it was our problem. Recently, we were notified that during an inspection they found that our unit no longer had a lock on it. They said they would place a lock on it and that we needed to visit the office the next time we were in to get it unlocked. When we visited the office they did not have a key. No one had actually secured the unit. The worker also informed me that there was no way anyone could actually cut my lock off without ruining their door (it was a special storage unit lock, circular, and a combination lock). It is a mystery how it disappeared, but did not make me feel very safe. Fortunately, we did not see any missing items.

When I originally paid for the month(because they don't offer weekly rates) they said i wold be prorated and refunded the excess since I wouldn't be using the whole month. I moved out. Didnt get any money back then was told it was too bad. My loss. When they can rent the unit for the remainder of the 2 weeks and still have the money I paid for those 2 weeks. Its really crappy and ridiculous that Uhaul can double rent basically.
