The pick-up/drop off instructions on the mobile check in service is terrible. I had no idea that two people needed to verify my identity when I picked up the truck at 6:30am. This was a great inconvenience to my contacts that early in the morning. And there was no message that I had to log back in when I dropped to truck off. The owner of the location was super rude when he called the next morning to ask where the truck was when it was parked exactly in the same spot I picked it up at. AND I was charged for an extra hand truck when I didn't even order one and was also charged for a two day rental totaling an extra $80+ I hadn't planned for. Come on Uhaul - you can do better.Anthony D.

Typical U-Haul experience. It was unpleasant and overly complicated but whatever the job got done. The app repeatedly told me that my head shot and picture of my license weren't actually pictures of my head shot and my license. Couldn't leave my car at the place I picked up the truck (why? Who picks up a vehicle for a two-way trip and doesn't leave their car??) and the guy at the location wanted to debate me as to whether or not the app warned me of that. Finally had to tell him that I wasn't going to argue with him, that I didn't see that on the app, and parked my car across the street at a grocery store, running across traffic with my 11 year old. Congrats U-Haul, you once again managed to be â€œjust below average.â€Nicholas F.
On the listed hours, please put the â€œ special hoursâ€ at the top. It's easily overlooked. And so I was frustrated and when I found they were closed. And afraid I'd get charged a tricky extra fee. But the self check in was easier than I feared.Travis H.

Your remote drop off technology was horrible. The photo of the dashboard would never upload or function for that matter. I sat in a dark parking lot at night and tried for 20 minutes to complete the drop off steps. It felt dangerous and then I was charged for not completing the online drop off. Rubbish.Jessica O.

UPDATE (Dec. 25, 2021): Hi Rich, my wife and I are just so thankful that the Kingston U-Haul manager and his team â€" using their â€œforkliftâ€ â€" was able to successfully detach the â€œcouplerâ€ of your [U-Haul Cargo Van] trailer from the â€œhitch ballâ€ of my â€œ2021 Honda Pilotâ€ without causing any damage to my vehicle. Wow! .. Anyway, after the guys got done replacing my low-hitch-ball-mount (w/ 2-inch-drop) with a high-hitch-ball-mount-2 (w/ 2-inch rise) â€" my wife and I were able to tow your U-Haul 6x12 Cargo Van trailer all the way from New York to North Carolina (approx 720 miles) in total safety. Well, thank you so much Rich for helping my wife and I â€œget startedâ€ with â€œtrailer towingâ€. Which, honestly, we thought wouldn't be any different than towing our 18.5' boat.Joe T.

District office did not communicate with Richs auto. After setting up rental with rich district office called me and told me rich did not have trailer available stating I would have to go to leeds ny to pick one up. Was very concerning to me. Rich was great with fixing issuenora G.
Rich is a great guy. We had an emergency situation with one of our workers who had been burned out of his apartment by a mentally ill tenant next to him. I purchased Safepay to cover damages for the trailer and I was still charged $160 for damages. I pay for Safeway for every rental and I can't believe I was charged. What is the point of Safepay if it doesn't cover damages. The agent is very nice and the location great. I've rented there many times and spent lots of money. I just am not happy to pay for something that should have been covered.Amir H.

The furniture dolly, which was not needed or used, was only secured with a single zip tie at the bottom. It did not even make it from the U-Haul store to our loading location. Upon arrival it was lying on the floor of the truck (have time stamped photo), was charged $7 for this. Fuel tank was filled to the brim (have fuel receipt), although was charged $16 as the tank was allegedly only 7/8 full. Disappointing, considering this is my closest and most convenient U-Haul location. I am a regular U-Haul customer.Andrew S.

This location clearly needs additional staff. Very difficult to communicate with agency owner. When you contact him it always seems he is doing you a great favor as he is being terribly inconvenienced. My hitch could not be installed here so I ended up spending a lot of money elsewhere to get my car ready. If you can, find a different uhaul agency with more means to deliver needed service.,MANUELSANTIAGO V.

DO NOT USE ONLINE RENTAL !!!!!! It was a COMPLETE PAIN IN THE ASS!!!! call locations directly and reserve trucks do NOT use online ...it sucks!!!! I was on phone 4 times with customer service. You need 2 different phone numbers, someone to verify you, etc. It took over 2 hours before I could get keys to truck. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!Lester R.

Check tire pressures and safety chain connections between customers. One tire on the car trailer I rented was low on air pressure, and a previous customer had tangled up the safety chains in an unsafe manner. I noticed both items and fixed them without issue, but other customers might not...Steven G.

We had a misunderstanding at check in late at night, uhaul was closed and the site indicated we were charged a 2 day rental. As soon as Rich the owner received word this morning he called immediately and assured we were only charged the 1 day. We appreciate that immediate follow up thank you Rich !MIREILLE C.
I will start by saying Richie did a great job. I attempted to pick up my 15' truck with a self-pickup. The system could not find my location, despite repeatedly turning the location services on, and restarting my phone. I attempted to do that both on safari and by downloading chrome. Still nothing. Then I downloaded the U-Haul app. Didn't work. Then I called the help desk and was told to wait 10-15 minutes. After 20 minutes went by and I still haven't spoken to someone, I tried to use the live chat, which also didn't work. Fortunately, by the time all this had transpired, an entire hour had passed, which meant my pick up had â€œexpiredâ€, such that after all that fun I trying to pick up a truck, Richie was able to check me in himself rather than trying to go through all this myself. Richie did a good job. Your website is one of the worst I've experienced in a long time.Eric M.
