The individual that took care of us when we picked up the truck was extremely helpful and fast. He went above and beyond for all customers in the morning. however, we didn't experience a great rental return. i was extremely disappointed since i was unable to return the truck during it's hours of operations 9am - 12pm on Sundays. we were there around 11:25am, which was a decent time to return the truck. on top of that, there was a couple picking up a truck/van @ 11am and there was nobody to help them when they arrived @ 11am. on top of that, there was an elderly woman returning her rental and she was there before me. The sweet elderly woman had to create an account and do a mobile online return, which was a bit difficult. we managed to help this lady set up an account and successfully return her van outside the business. This was extremely unprofessional and i don't know how i would recommend this this location to a friend or family member.Sebastian O.

The employees at this location are extremely rude and unhelpful. Last time I rented from here the guy was late 20 min to open. This time, the guy was rude at pick up and no one was there when I went to return the truck. There was no mention of needing to do online return and I didn't have my phone with me so I had to drive back to get it. I would NOT recommend this locationSHANNON C.

Open on time. It was impossible to reach the dealer by phone. We couldn't even leave a message because the mail box was full. Make it easier to extend rental for another day. The process to extend our rental was so complex and difficult we said "to heck with this" and just returned the truck and rented a second day from someone else. Everything went smoothly. Signing up on line was easy. The cargo van was there as promised when we arrived. We were able to park our car on the street for free while we used the van. The return process was quick. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the whole process was.PETR P.

Poor customer service.. guy was so rude to me (a woman) but kind to my husband (man). I barely said anything, I just asked 2 questions but he was very snappy and short with me. Also horrible hours and really difficult process.. we were told there was no 24/7 drop off but clearly there was because other people were doing that and there was a box & directions on how to return a UHaul after hours.ULISES S.
Unfortunately the area around the location (MacArthur Blvd) is full of trash and human waste and it feels unsafe, especially leaving the truck after hours. I would encourage UHaul Company to demand the City of Oakland clean up that stretch of MacArthur and provide a portable toilet for the people who live and sleep there. It is unfortunate because the UHaul location has excellent service, excellent vehicles, and is otherwise top notch. UHaul should not be responsible for the state of the street outside, but it is atrocious outside and needs to be cleaned up.Julie S.
It was fairly difficult uploading the photographs of the drivers license. The app seems to have some glitches. Otherwise the experience was fairly pleasant. The customer support agent I spoke to today Sunday the 20th was absolutely helpful and made the check out experience seamless which really made up for the other difficulties I had with the app.Eliel F.

I know that you have been in this location for many years. Unfortunately, the neighborhood has really deteriorated. I was really worried about the truck when I dropped it off and there was no one in the office to ensure the truck made it to the secure lot. The rental experience went very smoothly but the return procedure would have been better if I had known ahead of time that there would not be an attendant at the location later in the day. I might have stayed in the vehicle to complete the return (photos of the interior condition, milage, etc) process on my phone instead of finding myself on the sidewalk. (If you know the neighborhood, you might understand what I'm talking about)Catherine R.

The after hours checkout was not very intuitive. The myuhaul.com website provided on the sign at the site did not work. I was fortunate to have another renter let me know the correct site. Once checked out, I received an error message and it took additional time to figure out if I was actually checked out.PETER H.
The man operating this U-Haul location was nice, quick, and professional. I was impressed with the level of service and the efficiency of this location. This was one of, if not my best, experiences with U-Haul.MAXWELL A.
Ted was very helpful. Had a blow our one day into the trip on the inner back wheel passenger side. The retread came off, smacked the exhaust pipe that ended up burning a hole in the plastic skirt/siding. Glad it's in the neighborhood. Seems they've had some issues with theft, which is unfortunate, but understandable due to the rapid gentrification happening in the neighborhood. Guys at the store seem to be doing the best they can with what they've got. Store was clean and well stocked. The person worked hard to figure out getting me my truck with limited stock. Good thing because i don't know what I would have done without that truck!Jeremy L.

I was literally â€œrobbedâ€ when I returned the key off-hours. When I was going to drop my key to the key box, a guy ran to me, wearing similar Uhaul orange jacket, and said he worked for uhaul and took the key from me and just ran away. He apparently waited here for couples of hours for victims like me. The security is so terrible that I cannot safely return my key. This experience was a nightmare.YIJIE H.
I was guaranteed a pick-up at the Berkeley Gilman location on the website. I ended up having to drive to Oakland. Gas in tank was over 1/8 of a tank less than on contract and employee told me it was fine to drop off after hours without mentioning $20 drop-off feel. Additionally, the location services on the mobile web doesn't work==I'm not just saying this; I do it for a living and know how it should have looked on iOS mobile web had it been done properly. I doubt anyone's reading this, but I'll just pay someone on Thumbtack to haul my stuff next time instead of using uhaul and it feels good to vent.David M.

This place charged me and extra fee for gas. I received the tank to 3/4 of its total capacity and I returned it with a little more of gas, then he charged me for extra money because I dropped the car over night. I am filling a claim for this charge. Also, he charged me an extra $20 which we clearly discuss that he was not going to do it because I picked the truck at 7:30 pm, and he told to return it before 9 am of the next day, I returned at 10 pm and still he charged me an extra $20. I had trouble with checking the equipment back in using my phone. The instructions kept telling me to turn on location to share, which was turned on. I could never get past that point for the check in. It was very frustrating. I suggest having IT look into why it doesn't work. Also no local number provided on my receipt so I didnt know how to contact them. I finally found the number online but no one answered and the voice mail was full to leave any messages.Francisco C.

The manager or whatever his role was at the location was a complete and total asshole. When I returned the van he got a shitty attitude and started complaining that I brought the van back dirty. I told him I was sorry, I thought it was like renting a car and it would be cleaned before it was rented to another customer. This asshole starts in about it was my responsibility to clean the van and did I read the contract. I told him no, but did you explain I would need to clean the cargo bay of the van before I returned it? He certainly didn't ha r any problems telling me to bring it back with as much gas as I left with. I asked him what I neeesed to do to satisfy the terms of the agreement, this jackass goes and gets a blower and holds out his hand with the key and says take it out the lot and clean it. I almost threw the key back at him and walked away but I'm not that type of person. I used the lower and blew the dust out of the back of the van, only to have this guy tell me I didn't return rhe car with as much gas as I left with. Never mind I returned it with more gas than I left with, I took the van to the nearest fast station and put on even more gas. I don't know what kind of ship you people are running, but having a butthole like this guy represent your company is bad for business. I will NEVER rent from U haul again in my life.KENNETH W.
