I had a 12 pm pickup time. The person handling the Uhaul at this location wasted an hour just trying to give me the keys. He didn't know how to enter the information. Once I finally got the van, it was dirty and smelled on the inside. I complained and he swept it out and used a mop to clean the back out. The front was even worse. They had to give me Clorox wipes to clean the inside, and the owner asked if I wanted to powerwash the van myself. I would never use the location again.Marcus M.

There were left over receipts in the can area from previous renters. The clerk was not rude however, the truck didn't have gas in it and said 9miles to empty but the receipt said it had a quarter tank. So I went back inside and he told me there was a $34.99 credit because there wasn't any gas. I put $20 in the tank and only drove the truck 15miles. The truck had a quarter tank of gas when I returned it. The gas credit was removed and I asked the clerk why and he told me that I have to contact UHAUL he doesn't know why. I spoke with a UHAUL rep who told me that the credit came off because he said I returned it with 1/16 of a tank which was not accurate. The rep was supposed to have someone contact me by Monday and today is Wednesday and I still haven't heard anything. Poor Customer Service Uhaul. I just want my $34.99 credit back. I regret not taking pictures of where I left the gas gauge. Lesson learned.Kareem N.

I was given a truck with no gas and a flat. The person attending my reservation never checked the vehicle. I only used the truck for 2 hours and I didn't have any equipment. The payment went from 68.00 to 128.00. I'm in fear they are charging me for services I didn't use as well as not giving my contract upon service.Teshelle M.

I had reserved the van to be picked up at 3:30pm via mobile. When I tried to use my account to pick it up, i was told I had to wait until the location opened. I entered the location, which was a gas station that had no labeling telling me it was also a Uhaul location. The man took my ID and credit card and spent a half an hour talking to other customers (many of whom were not wearing facemasks), taking phone calls, and generally not informing me of what was going on or what I was waiting for. As it turns out, he was having difficulty finding the key tot he vehicle. Once he found it, he proceeded to have me repeat all the information that I had already input the previous night for the reservation- and then also requested another person's contact information, which was not required on the Uhaul site. The man rushed me through checking the vehicle for damage and tried to have me only take a picture of the damaged passenger side window rather than use the website Uhaul provides to upload photos showing any damage to the vehicle. I was not able to head back to my location until 45 minutes after my pick-up time while friends were waiting to help me load the van. I am incredibly disappointed that I scheduled this for mobile pick-up to not interact face to face due to COVID and instead got stuck in a gas station that was not enforcing masking rules for 45 minutes. All in all, this was an awful experience. I recommend using a different location.Daniel D.

Overall the location and the customer service was very good-the person went above and beyond to help out. I would tighten up the rental process - because at the end of the month, people either don't return the trucks on time, or I show up to pick up the rental and there's no vehicles available. That is of course not a good experience, so that drives me to rent with other services that can guarantee that the vehicle is available at the time of the rental (Turo, Enterprise, etc). I have done other U-Haul rentals...but because of the inconsistent process I have also rented vehicles from your competitors, too - I would love to be able to stick with one provider in the perfect world. They make you wait in line until all the regular store customers are taken care of. It took us 15 minutes just to see the guy and start the process of checking in, and then another 5 minutes to finish. This is with online check in before arrival to. If you're going to have a u haul partnership, don't put less priority on their customers. The truck was FILTHY and old masks, paper towel, and a receipt of the previous customer. To whom it may concern, October 13 I decided for my first time i rent a uhaul truck due to the fact that I just got myself an apartment and needed things to be moved. Unfortunately I had one of the worst experiences especially it being my first time. On top of that I just gave birth 7 days ago, so to go through this while going through just giving birth was a little unsettling for me and very difficult. I decided to get my uhaul from a local gas station and the address was 108-46 Merrick Blvd. I arrived to pick up the truck and had already reserved the 10' truck for a few hours just to get everything in my new apartment. We get there and were told we would be charged only $125 due to the deal going on with $125 a day with 100 miles which was fine. We do the security payment of $150 on my card and take the truck up a few blocks to notice that the side view mirror was technically off the truck so we decide to return it right back but we made the payment ahead of time to the other truck. The insurance to that truck was $16. No problem once again. Since there weren't anymore trucks left the guy in the store decided that he would give us the cargo van and he said there would be no extra charges. Come to find out i was charged $25 for that insurance. I also put in that I wanted the van until 8:30 am and still brought it back earlier which was at 3:30 am. Getting the van wasn't such a hassle due to the fact that he switched it with no problems but made problems he couldn't keep. Bringing it back was worse. I spoke to whoever was on duty at 3:30 and he was so rude. He took the key, checked the car said the price was $225 and walked away. How did it go from $125 to $225 ? He took out his phone and typed in the sections that I did 160 miles when I didn't. He kept saying that I did when in fact no notes were taken on the switch and no information was provided. I kept asking him why are you putting in 160 miles ? He had no response. I let him know that I'd be putting gas especially due to the fact that it's a gas station, but i just wanted to let him know I was back. The van was never given on full so i would put it back on that. He then tried to lie about where the fuel was so that I can be charged more when i specifically told him that i would do it just to give me a second due to the fact i just gave birth he had no remorse whatsoever. So he lied about the gas being empty and the miles. I asked if I could take a picture of what he was putting in the uhaul system and he told me no and started walking away. He started making extremely rude comments and laughing telling me to call the manager and he didn't care because that's what he's going to put in the system and to email uhaul for further information. As for someone who is still in a healing process i am truly disgusted and hurt that a grown man would act like that and try to humiliate me and basically scam me out of the money i have. I work hard for my money and now that i have a newborn I'm really on a budget, things haven't been the best and that put the icing on the cake for me. Uhaul isn't a bad company at all but the people they choose to allow to sponsor them need to be more professional and have some respect. I would like some type of compensation for this experience and someone to speak to the men on duty during these times. Thank you for taking the time out to read this letter. I reserved the truck for Saturday night a little after 8pm for a 24 hour duration. I was to return the truck the following night. While moving furniture I hurt my back and that set my time back for completing the move. I called the local number, but to no avail. The rep did call me to ensure I was bringing back the truck. I did explain to him that I hurt my back, and that my reservation needs to be extended. I was aware that I would be charged for an additional 24 hours whereas that's the initial time duration I selected. I made it back to the drop off location a little after 8pm. This particular location is also a gas station that has lot to, and I had to wait nearly 15-20 minutes for someone to assist. Finally, another employee walked in to help and the rep behind the counter came out to assist me once the other rep went behind the counter to help the other customers who were waiting in line. The initial rep did come out and look at the truck. He also looked at the mileage, and the gas. All was well. Then I asked the amount and he mentioned $267, and stated that he charged me for a third day. I turned the truck in on time for a 2 day duration that should have included the base rate of $19.99, $16 protection, and 78 miles in total. I am also disputing this additional day. I spoke with the rep about it, and he stated that he put 6pm, and I'm over so I was charged an additional day. I brought the truck back in time to make it a full 2 days(24 hours) and yet he still charged me. He also was very unprofessional with yelling at me, and telling me next time use another location after he stole my money.I want a refund of the 3rd day whereas I only used the truck for 2 days. I will NEVER recommend u-haul to my family and friends after this experience. I was ripped off...Alicia M.
Only issue I had was I wanted to drop off the vehicle off at the uhaul center at Flushing, Ny where i live nearby. But could only selection from a drop off location farther than where I wanted to go which added to the mileage I was using.David H.

The person at this location told us that we can return the truck to any location. We noticed it said "In Town" so we asked again. He still said it's fine. We believed him and returned to the nearest location at our destination and got OVERCHARGED! They need to be trained properly and not give false info! He was nice but this is NOT ACCEPTABLE.Kun J.
This is experience was terrible and I will absolutely never use UHaul again. We left the furniture dolly at the location and we're unable to retrieve. We offered to pay the difference and were told â€œkeep the truck until you have the dolly.â€ We reiterated that wasn't possible and then spent the next hour on the phone with uhaul. NOONE was able to tell me the rate or how they determine the rate for missing furniture. In the end the manager charged me $85 for a $7 dolly. And no one can tell me how this number was calculated. All they can say is it varies. Based on what? Based on whatever the manager decides. That's unacceptable. The customer service rep admitted that I could forget the furniture dolly in 2 different days and potentially be charged a different price for it. There's no price list. There's no fine print. There is noting to indicate how this number is determined. I understand I forgot the dolly which is why I offered to pay. But after an hour to have that number go from $7 to $85 for a dolly I can get for $15 at Home Depot is really outrageous. I wasn't the first and won't be the last. Last time I went said they gave me a van that check engine light was on while I was driving it was storming on me and almost cut off. This time they gave me the same van with the check engine light on I complained about it when I drove off I didn't make it around the block before I start stalling I came back to the station to let them know that it was not catching speed and it was stalling they said they didn't have another truck I couldn't get anywhere to get a new one so I took that one and it shut off on me twice in the middle of the road I complained and the manager was being very rude and nasty to me I will never rent from them again or are you whore I will go to another moving Truck company I'm tired of them treating me like I don't matter the truck was no good check engine light was on and they still refuse to help meRosetta J.

Will only go to an actual uhaul location from now on. These satellite locations are terrible. It took an hour to get my van because they didn't know how to use the site and was on the phone with customer service to walk them through the process. I was there waiting for a text of the link to download my license. They insisted something was wrong with my cell so I gave them my work cell. Turns out it went to my email! I requested two dolly's they only had one. I finally got the van and left and was given a dirty broken down van! The engine light was on which I at first ignored because I wanted so much time but after a block the van started jerking and sliding a error messages went across the dash. Returned it and got another van that was dirty and smelled. When I returned the van. They charged me for the second dolly anyway. When I complained they had to call to have some walk them through the refund and my receipt still showed the over charge. I watched as the attendant went to park my van and backed it up into another car! It was like something out of the twilight zone.Meredith F.

On October 23, 2019, I reserved U-Haul for $19.95 a day. I picked up the U-Haul from 10846 Merrick Blvd. at 5:57pm. The gentleman that assisted me with the rental instructed me to return the vehicle will the same Â¼ tank of gas that existed before I left. At 8:00pm I returned the rental with Â¼ tank of gas and the gentleman that assisted me approved. I also informed him that a suspension alert displayed several times while I was driving, and the vehicle may need service. On October 24, 2019 I received a call from a man with a heavy middle eastern accent who stated he was calling from U-Haul and that I did not return the rental. I informed him that I returned the U-Haul l the night before at 8pm. He rudely began yelling and accusing me of not returning the rental before hanging up abruptly. I waited a while before calling back and checked my email for a receipt from U-Haul. The receipt listed: Fuel Fill-up service fee $30.00 EZ Fuel Sales:7.5 gal $31.88 The fees charged were well over the actual $52 charge. I called back and again spoke to the same rude man and told him there was an error and I was on my way to resolve this mistake. He yelled that I should call the corporate office. I called U-Haul customer service and asked them to investigate the overcharges. Kim D (the U-Haul customer service rep) noticed the in/out mileage and the gas charges were excessive and inconsistent. She created a CAF (customer action file) to record my complaint and assured the overcharges would be refunded to my credit card. I appreciate U-Hauls time and consideration in this matter. My U-Haul experience at 10846 Merrick Blvd was rude, disrespectful, dishonest and accusatory. 10846 Mart Inc is misrepresenting uhaul by stealing, cheating and deceiving customers. Vehicle shut down 8 times while driving. Check engine light came on after I had the vehicle for an hour and stayed on. Vehicle puttered and lost power. I was also charged for a dolly/hand truck that was not furnished at the location. I inquired about a deduction or reduced price for rental, all of a sudden the person behind the counter didn't speak English well and was unfamiliar with the use of the computer.
