The cable for the rear (overhead) door mechanism became tangled when I tried closing the door after loading the trailer at home. I could not close the rear door of the trailer when we were ready to "hit the road". We called roadside assistance, and were told it would be a one to two hour wait. I ended up removing the cable bracket from the rear door in order to close it. I should receive some sort of a refund for my troubles.

Next time I need to rent a truck or trailer I will use a other company. The story i tell people now is Uhaul takes advantage of it's customers, sets up everything for the company's convenience to the detriment of the customer, and will try to extract as much money out of the customer no matter what.

I had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Uhaul today. I arrived at my desired pickup location, but my truck was not there despite my reserving it 3 weeks ago and calling yesterday to once again confirm the reservation. I was told by Uhaul staff that the woman who had it before me had decided to keep it several extra hours, so it would not be back for at least 3 hours and there was nothing they could do, that I'd have to call Corporate. I called and was told there was nothing she could do, as every Uhaul at my location as well as every other location in nearby towns was reserved. I had reserved a 26 foot truck and was then told they would be able to give me two 10 foot trucks instead, but I'd have to travel another 20 minutes out of my way and pay for renting both trucks. With no other options, I had agreed to this and was on the way to that location when another person from Uhaul's Corporate call center phoned me and said she found me a 26 foot truck, but I'd have to drive about a half hour in the opposite direction, which I once again agreed to due to having no better options. All in all, this Uhaul worked out fine, though I did have to bring it back to its home location that was a half hour's drive out of my way due to it being that location's property. I am highly frustrated by my experience for myriad reasons, primarily that another customer was able to violate her contract and hold my Uhaul when I had made a reservation weeks ago and needed my Uhaul today with a deadline of what hour I needed to be finished moving back. It should not have been possible for this to happen. Uhaul should not allow reservations to be booked so closely together that someone holding over a truck for several hours can so gravely damage another customer. This is the point of a reservation! - to promise that I will have my desired product at my desired location at my desired time. How else can you run a business and stay in business? I have never had such a horrible experience. It does not help that the pick-up locations are apparently entire separate entities from Corporate, so they aren't very professional or helpful because they have little to no power to rectify the situation. I am also appalled that after having this experience, I was not compensated very much. Uhaul's policy to provide a $50 reimbursement for failure to fulfill a reservation is short change for the great great inconvenience of not having a moving truck when one needs it. People take days off work, rearrange schedules, friends make themselves available, deadlines have to be adhered to per landlords and other parties - all of this is worth far more than $50. I do not know what I would have done today if a truck had not been found within a few hours. Even so, once a truck was found, they charged me a lesser rate to rent it, but I still had to pay $1 to the mile and no one considered or cared that of course I had to drive much farther to go to their other location to pick up the new truck. Truck measurements on the site should note the wheel wells ... we almost didn't have enough space for a large cabinet, which was the main reason for the rental, due to the lost space inside.

Truck was not clean and I was forced to clean before use, including broken glass in bed. Upon reviewing credit card bill, I was overcharged based on agreed-upon contract with no explanation or outline of charges. I will NOT use UHaul for future needs.

Disappointed that the van wasn't there when I was supposed to pick it up. The previous renter didn't return it when he was supppses to. The rental agent kept calling the guy until he reached him and explained I was waiting for the van. Got it two hours late. The rental agent saved the day, but what is the sense of reserving a vehicle if there is a chance it won't be returned?

Placed an order and recieved an order confirmation to have a 26 ft truck waiting at a location near me. 5 hours before my pick up time I recieve a call to inform me my truck has been downgraded to a 20 ft truck. This was unacceptable as I have reserved a 26 ft truck and needed it for a 24 hour period. The end result was having to drive 45 minute across the state to get the only 26 ft truck left in the state. I was told to rush there and upon my arrival the employees who tend that site are waiting on a part that is needed to make the truck operational. I had to wait 2 hours before this part arrived and I was free to take the rental. This was the worst encounter I have had with uhaul and I have used this service on many occassions. The worst part was after a long day moving to the other side of the state I then had to drive an hour and a half just to return the truck. There was minimal care for the customer, and the scheduling error was on the company not the customer who ultimately had to pay for terrible customer service.
