Thank you for the man I dealt with in London, since Kitchener Fairway messed me up by not having my reserved truck ready, or even to help me find a new truck. She passed me a business card for me to figure everything out on my own, which I did. I would NEVER rent a truck from Fairway Kitchener! Back door needs lubrication, very hard for seniors to open and close it. GAS TANK should always be FULL when pick up truck and return truck. That way there is no guessing and fait to both. KenKen A.

The representative set my drop off location 10 miles away from my destination. He told me it was the closet and as I was in a hurry because he came in 30 mins late to check me out, I agreed. Later when I was about to drop the truck, I see on the maps that there are at least 4 drop-off locations within a mile from me! I tried reaching out to the Support Helpline to change the drop-off location but they dropped my call on 3 separate occasions. And so I had to drive at least 10 miles away, pay extra for gas and mileage, thanks to U-haul's customer service.SHEBIN S.

I was charged for damage coverage despite explicitly declining it. My reservation shows I declined coverage while no hard copy or e-mail receipt was sent to me before dispatch and I saw the damage coverage of $15 plus taxes after dropping off the truck. The owner refused to give refund despite presenting very strong evidence that he had made an error. Furthermore, there appeared to be a problem with the truck transmission.Abbas M.
I attempted to use the 24/7 check-in but abandoned it for in person check in. It was not clear that the online check in would take a significant amount of time, nor that it would require UHAUL contacting people to verify my identity. My driver's license and credit card should be sufficient. The web portal was unclear, almost deceptive, and the opposite of convenient. I will avoid it whenever possible. On the other hand, the attendant was FANTASTIC! Very helpful, knew how to navigate the internal UHAUL network problems and get me out the door in less than a quarter of the time I wasted trying to get through the online check in. In an increasingly online service world, UHAUL needs to step it up or you risk obsolescence.Justin H.

Booked online for 9:30am pickup, hours of operation said open at 8:00am, we also booked a dolly with the vehicle. Arrived at location at 9:15am, no one there. Called number on paper stuck to door of shop, owner of shop said we just needed to book online. We needed the dolly which was locked in his shop. Waited until 9:50am before he showed up to complete the transaction making us late for scheduled arrival at place we were to move items out of. Very disappointed in U-Haul at this location, will never use again! Owner didn't seem to care that he wasn't there on time or that it put us behind schedule. Had driven from Kitchener to London and was on time (ahead actually) the least he could do is be there at the hours the U-Haul website said he would.Richard G.

When I arrived for pickup, nobody was at the location. I did the virtual pickup using a cell phone, but one instruction was to go inside and get the key from the attendant. There was no such person. There was a number to call. After a ton of time and stress, someone finally arrived and it was super sketchy the whole time. I wasn't on the road till an hour after my scheduled pickup time. Clearly the truck had not been prep-ed. It was dirty, ad in the windshield, no blankets in the back. The customer service rep I talked to when I made the reservation in the first place was also terrible. They could not understand me to answer simple questions, and they apparently wrote my phone number down incorrectly. It was a terrible, stressful experience from start to finish.Emerson D.

This U-Haul is not flexible with the return of the vehicle. For example the e enterprise car rental of a certain area will collaborate an share the vehicle to accommodate s customer that needs to extend their vehicle rental. U haul failed at doing that . I had to interrupt a move to bring back the vehicle to u haul.... 2h drive . When i notify u haul that i. Would need the vehicle for few more hours. The u haul staff pressured my to bring back the vehicle immediately. Which I did, When i arrived at u haul centre there was no actual customer to pick up the vehicle.... I was forced to cancel a 1-way booking made 10 days prior, when advised by uhaul the day before my July 1 move that the truck pickup location was in a city 40 min away. I then spent too much wasted time on uhaul website and on phone and was not allowed any option for re-booking for July 1! I stopped in at the Mt. Pleasant location and Pardeep, operator of this location, gave me immediate first-class attention. He worked to trouble-shoot and expedite my situation. He was personable, courteous at every turn, genuinely personable and friendly. He showed uncommon professional excellence and is an asset to the U-Haul brand.MARKJ O.

When I went to return the vehicle the store was closed-even though the hours posted said it was supposed to be open. The vehicle was dirty. The bill was sent to me electronically, I had questions about the charges. I called, they did not pick up the phone. They had no answering machine. I then texted. They did not respond. I will not ever use them again. Not impressed with UHaul.Ian S.

Truck was unclean. Someone coffee was left in the cup holder, sunflower seeds on the floor, passenger side window was left open and the seat was wet. The box was full of mud. Tail gate was also covered in mud.Curtis B.
The owner/operator is cheater. I was just late by an hour ..instead of returning in 7 hours i returned in 8 hours , which is allowed to be kept for 24 hours. and he charged me for 2 days everything. Completely crooks and scammers. Never ever go this location. He will rip you off for sure. Trying to rip me off by overcharging on the mileage. Claimed I drove 171 kms when it was actually 38 kms. Waited close to an hour and a half at pickup time which was scheduled for 8 AM and person arrived at 9:20 AM. My bill should have been $69 but they are trying to charge me $179. We waited almost 3 hours to pick up the truck. The clerk at the store said the prior client was late, he then proceeded to leave the store (closed the store) supposedly to pick up the truck and disappeared for almost 2 hours. At this point. we called customer service who claimed the truck was at the location as per their system and were trying to call the clerk with no luck.... We were supposed to be given a refund and have not received it yet....TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. specially after spending hours on the phone the day before pick up as our reservation was changed without our consent ....Rodrigo M.
This was the WORST customer service experience in my entire life. I was to pick up the UHAUL at 9am. Upon arriving the location was closed even though the sign on the door said that it was open at 7am. At 9:15 am there was still no one at the location and texted the number posted on the door. The individual said they were on their way. They did not arrive until 9:45 am! They did not apologize for being late and accused me of lying that I was there at 9am and I didnt have to wait "that long" for him - not only was it cold outside but it was also raining and I was left in the rain for 45 minutes. I was obviously upset and was told by this individual that they have other places that they could be, they have other sites they need to be at, and they got here when they could. This individual proceeded to tell me he is a University Student at Western University and moved to London from Toronto to go to school and bought a few "businesses" on the side to manage and that my rental was not a priority to him - regardless of the fact that I was to move that day. He also did not have my rental on file and I had to waste more time with this rude kid to re-give all of my information. Rude does not even scratch the surface of how I was treated, this was the most disgusting encounter I have had as a customer. Not only was the truck filled to less than a quarter gas but upon arriving home, there was a CRACK PIPE on the seat that I didnt notice. There were still drugs inside of the pipe!!! The vehicle was not even remotely cleaned and this is during a pandemic. I dont know what basic cleaning you have in place but that was not even met. You need to shut down this UHAUL location. I called to report the incident, provided a picture of the crack pipe and was told I would be contacted within 3-7 business days to discuss and it has now been 3 weeks. I am expecting to be contacted to discuss and be provided with a refund. Looking forward to hearing from you.courtney P.

Westside Variety was an absolute nightmare, and if I could give them zero stars, I would. The remote check-in didn't work and I had to go inside to an almost comically messy store. The gentleman who checked me in was just doing his best; I have no complaints about him. However, the truck I was given had cardboard and napkins in the driver's area - evidently the truck had not been cleaned. Nothing seemed to be wrong with the truck when I gave it a walk-around prior to driving away. I noticed that the driver's side mirror moved a bit when I hit a crack in the road on the way to load the vehicle but didn't think much of it. I loaded the truck and drove it to get gas. After hitting a couple potholes and seeing the driver's side mirrors swivel and not stay in place, at the gas station realized that the driver's side mirror was literally not attached to the vehicle. I was able to pick up the mirror out of the slot in which it should have been attached. It's obviously impossible and illegal to drive a vehicle without a side mirror, so I called Westside Variety to request immediate rectification. The gentleman working in the store was incapable of assisting me (through no fault of his own) and patched me over to his "boss". His "boss" was a complete ass. He was incredibly rude and unhelpful, even attempting to blame me for not checking if the mirrors were attached to the vehicle. Never in my life of renting vehicles have I ever been concerned that a rental company would give me a vehicle that was not roadworthy, but according to the "boss" at Westside Variety, I should have hung off the mirrors like a monkey to ensure they were attached. After I finally got through to Roadside Assistance, I was sent to the Uhaul facility on Clarke Road to have the mirror fixed. When I held out the unattached mirror and explained the situation, they asked where I'd gotten the vehicle. When I said Westside Variety, the customer service rep literally rolled his eyes and said "well that explains it." If Westside Variety is so notoriously bad at inspecting/maintaining Uhaul vehicles that they have a reputation for their irresponsibility within the other London locations, why on earth are they still permitted to rent Uhauls?! If I had not noticed that the mirror was moving, if I had not stopped for gas before getting on the highway to drive to Toronto, the mirror would have flown off the vehicle and I could have killed someone. Clearly the vehicle wasn't inspected whatsoever. This is reprehensible and the "boss" at Westside Variety should be immediately reprimanded and/or dealt with accordingly.EMILYANASTASIA H.
