Multiple customers’ cards were not going through, but the guy kept insisting it was all of our banks’ faults and his machine was fine. Luckily one of our cards worked, but I felt bad for all the people turned away from their reservations! Also where he told us to park at the end of the day (told to us at the time of drop off) was actually in the way of a tow yard, luckily a nice man in a tow truck let us know we’d be ticketed if we didn’t move. We were told to download the app to checkout, but the location wasn’t listed on the app. So we had to call customer service and were told to use the website instead. This whole location was a total clusterfuck, excuse the language.

This location is in a sketchy area. I would not leave my car anywhere near here. The yard was full of "junk". I was grateful for the use of the van and appreciated the customer service. The young person who assisted me was helpful and friendly!

He honked aggressively at us as we were trying to figure out where the truck was, and then when I returned it all the parking spots were full and I had to go across the street. I ultimately got my truck and did what I needed to do, but did not feel welcome to come back.
Anna Neufeldthe van smelled horrible, reeked of piss. i was afraid all of my stuff, mainly my clothing, would smell after being in there for a couple of hours. it was hard for me drive in it. i also have an extra unknown charge that isn’t on my receipt that i’m waiting to hear back about. i was also charged for two days of renting when i had the van from 1:45 pm the 9th - 4pm the 10th.
Amber RabyThis truck got the job done for me and that was it. Easy pick up and easy return but the state of the truck was the worst part. The truck itself was in a poor state. When I got into the truck the fuel tank was close to empty which was concerning. The turn signals did not work which made it difficult driving by myself. Also, only one brake light was operating. Given the blind spots in this truck I would not recommend anyone else drive this truck as they would be a hazard on the road.

Vanessa OrangeThe service at the pick up location was fine. We did have to wait about 10 or fifteen minutes to pick up the truck. This is because there was only one person on duty and the two people customers in front of us did not have credit cards for the required deposit, which resulted in arguments with the attendant. Both claim that this was not mentioned on the U-Haul website. The location is in a bad part of Portland with a lot of homeless camping nearby. Other than that, the service was good.

I get that it must be a stressful job, but man, what a terrible interaction that was.

The initial pick-up location that I had selected was to be on Davis St, but due to a lack of availibility or something, I was moved to the Quimby site. First impression: the location is super shady. My partner and I arrived and instantly felt that someone was going to pop out from one of the vehicles and rob us in this junkyard-looking place. Second impression: the customer service upon arrival was subpar at best and at worst abrupt and unfriendly. You could really tell he did not want to be there. That and the fact he was so busy on his cellular device that I had to call a couple of times to get his attention. When I returned the U-Haul, I was happy to be done with the site, but then I receive a call the next day from the Davis St. U-Hail site saying that I had not returned the rental even though I had during operating hours and he was there to confirm my return! Unbelievable! Maybe there was a delay in U-Haul operating system, but who even knows really. The lady on the phone was very polite though and got it all straightened out for me. The next time I need a U-Haul, I would rather go the extra distance (there's a few other options in downtown Portland) then return here. Very scary!

Madeline BeverlyWhen I booked online I had added boxes so when I arrived and asked for my boxes the guy said it it does not show on his side that I ordered boxes when I asked him how much boxes were they were almost double the price than the online prices and he said it’s because he is a new location. So I went to Walmart instead. The place looks like a junk yard. he was very rude and unhelpful. I will not use this place again. also there was no ramp in the truck. Huge safety issue since we had to life everything! Since I had to move so quickly I didn’t have time to go back’ I was on a time crunch but again the guy was unhelpful.
SYLVIA TORRESIt is beyond me as to why I even bothered cleaning a vehicle once I got home instead of returning it immediately because there were drugs on tinfoil and a baggie that had, had drugs in it just chilling in the consul, then driving the van only 8 miles but getting charged for 60 xtra miles at a whopping 0.89/mile and them marking the gas below 1/4 a tank less than I returned and charging me at their rate. Forget this place there are better rentals In the Pearl. And you don’t have to deal with the camps right next door
ZACHARIE JENSENI returned the van with MORE gas than it had when I got it. I should have gotten a REFUND because I drove it less than half of the miles I estimated. Instead, they said that I left it with 1/8 of a tank less than what they gave it to me with, and charged me $30 plus the fuel charge. They now say I owe them $46!!! That’s more than what it cost to rent BEFORE the mileage refund I should have received!! These guys are scam artists. I should’ve known better than to rent from them. Their rental office looks like some kind of scummy tow yard under the freeway. I want my money back.

There's often something wrong with the systems - there is lousy security - gas gets stolen overnight, etc. This truck had no gas, was trashed inside, etc. But service personnel helped make it work. The best part of this location is its location and its personnel, who try/work very hard to make things work.

If the truck had been full, I could have brought it back full with no loss of money to me. Poor service.

The truck I received was covered in mud and I just had to accept it. i was charged $11 for using a 1/16 of the tank (not exaggerating) and im having a hard time understanding the justification for that. Furthermore, hours say until 5, but I got there at 3:45 and the gate was locked up tight. Not a very pleasant experience overall. At least the truck functioned and was fancier than I had expected.

Jill DryerThe truck drove well, and the service was fast and efficient. We came in at 9am with about 2 people in front of us. Checked out quickly and were shown to our truck. Any pre-existing scratches were marked off with tape, and we had more than enough gas in the car. The reviews I read made me wary, but in the end, I was happy with the service and truck. 10 out of 10 would recommend again for quick moves within the city. The customer service here was awesome, especially since we dealt with the same agent at check in and check out.

I could have ignored the dirty, messy vehicle, and even the low gas, however I was inexplicably charged for a full tank of gas when I returned the vehicle. I will seek to have the charges reversed or pursue action against the dealer. Very poor experience.

I only drove 4 miles but had to put 3 gallons ($15.00) of gas to get the gauge to return to its initial level. UHAUL should also require centers and dealers to keep the windows clean, inside and out, for every customer.

The vehicle rented was absolutely acceptable, exactly what I needed, and I noted the damages & discrepancies through the link, and found at the end of my rental no surprises in charges. Everything went smoothly & the person working there was helpful & polite. I have already booked another rental with them, as this transaction was so positive.
Misty WalshThe truck they tried to give me had a dead battery, so I had to wait for a return truck, the truck that was returned and given to me had a ton of graffiti that apparently wasn’t there before so I had to photograph and not all of it. After this I was an hour behind schedule when the attendant told me they were closing at 4 PM today and I had to return it by then. (The sign says 24 hour returns.). Because of this, I only had time to move the big pieces of furniture and will have to make an additional several trips with my SUV to finish the move.

Hilary ButlerBe clear with your charges. I was charged $62 when I got the truck then to my horror $246 was charged for hiring the truck for 5 hours. I had a 1/4 tank when I got the truck and because they had closed when I dropped the truck I got charged $32 for them to pump gas and 45 for adding gas just to mention a few. To me it was a rip off and if this is how they are conducting business I wonder how many victims they have benefited from. Never will I use the service again or allow anyone I know to fall victim. I cannot imagine what the cost could have been if the was scratch to the truck 😳🥺

Erik ReelThe bed of the truck had so many bird droppings that you could not step anywhere without stepping in it. Same for grabbing the top of the tailgate. The attendant gave me some moving blankets to cover the bed so my load was not covered in droppings. Maybe cleaning the truck would be a better option in the future.
