Of the dozen or more U-Haul trucks I have rented over the past two years this one was by far the quietest inside the cab driving down the highway. The driver's seat has been covered with a solid vinyl cover instead of a perforated vinyl cover. Even with the great air-conditioning this truck had the solid viny seat cover caused the driver's rear end to sweat through his pants.

Staff at Van's was excellent. Left side trailer marker lights did not work, the lot man was unable to get them working. Stop & turn lights were ok & trip was only daylight, but they need to be fixed before next rental.

The dealership was fine. The issue was condition of equipment. This particular UHaul truck needs replaced. On average, I rent (2) times per year, and this particular truck is the worst one I have driven. It has nearly 140 thousand miles on it. The steering had quite a bit of play in it, which combined with any wind, made driving worse. Also the steering play was a factor when trying to precisely position for load. Truck also seemed to labor under load on hills. My cargo weight was not excessive, I could barely maintain speed of 45 mph on hills on freeway. Seat cover was a replacement and was loose and bunched up behind knees when driving. Chain for rear locking hasp was barely long enough to get lock through the hasp. The chain had clearly been repaired and shortened at some point Time to retire this truck from fleet

The app and contactless pick up and drop off was a disaster. The key was not in the box and I was not able to even get the correct size truck. I had to get a smaller truck and make additional trips costing me money. Drop off also did not work as the app did not let me take picture of the dashboard as part of the drop off process even when following directions and spending 15 minutes trying different pictures. Was a terrible experience. The truck alignment also seemed to be off and wanted to veer right strongly, my equipment dolly was not available anywhere either. Was a terrible experience and next time I'll go to Penske

Gas gauge does not work properly. When I picked it up it showed just over 1/2 tank. I decided to fill it up before I left town. It would only take 7 gallons. When I returned and attempted to fill back to the halfway mark the gauge jumped from between 1/4 and 1/2 to over 3/4 full. The gauge is definitely faulty. The back door was VERY difficult to open and close. Not sure if it off the track, the spring is broken or just needs lubricated, but it was a struggle to get it opened and closed.

The experience was good all together. Im someone who appreciates conversation. I know it's a business to run on top of a rental contract business. Be more interactive with your customers. Instead of 1 worded conversations. Other then that. Clean place. Small town so easy to find. Good prices. Will I use again? Probably not considering I'll buy a trailer. Much less of a headache trying to find the right equipment within a certain radius. For those who do not have funds or the means to want to go that route. It's perfect for you.

I had preregistered , but upon arrival I was asked questions already answered online, such as my drop off location, did I want insurance. These were clearly viewable on my confirmed order. I was a little perturbed to say the least. I've had quite a few rentals this year and on every instance the time it takes to actually get in and out is too long. If you show up a little early to compensate then they say you have to be back those few minutes early for your return. If you show up at your pickup time and it takes them 15 minutes to get you processed and hooked up, they don't say you get an extra 15 minutes on your scheduled return time. I don't believe this was the location problem but rather a U-Haul website problem.

When a reservation is made for a truck to be at a location, it's nice to be arrive and have the truck be there. Instead of moving our things we haggled for over an hour trying to find another truck. No local trucks were available so we had to drive 20 additional miles each way (which comes off our 50 mile plan btw) to get a truck. Then we went went back to return the truck, there was no key Dropbox, nothing to scan for return. So we had to open the hood and place the key on the motor and then call the next morning to let them know where it was. Not a pleasant experience overall. Prior to this we have used Budget without any issues or hiccups. Our local Budget dealer closed so we were forced to go with UHaul.

There was a lot of dog hair in the cab by the previous user. When we drove off with the windows open, dog hair blew around so much we had to put our shirts over our nose and mouths for a bit. Otherwise truck ran great.

I have used this U-Haul location on multiple occasions and enjoy working the people there and the location convenience to my office. The staff is always very responsive and helpful. I have used the other U-Haul dealer in our community on a few occasions and much prefer the one I use most often. The other dealer doesn't always have clean and in good repair equipment and rarely are their trucks' gas tanks filled to an appropriate level. The dealer I use most often has office hours from 9-6. Most of the time I have to pick up the U-Haul equipment the day before because I need to use it prior to 9 am. I tried the self-check in on one occasion and FINALLY got it to work. So, I avoid using U-Haul equipment on Mondays. I would like to see the "store/office" straightened up and cleaned a bit more than it is. It is sad to see the declining condition of what was a beautiful store.

This was by far my best experience with uhaul, the owner was out and unhooking the trailer almost before I had it in park. I wish every business had customer service like this.

Make sure equipment especially tires are properly inflated. After loading my vehicle onto the transport trailer I noticed one of the tires was quite low on air. The attendant got an air compressor and inflated the tire. I asked how much air was put in he said about 10 lbs. he said to keep an eye on it when I fuel up! In the back of my mind I knew this could be a possible issue but with a 32 hour drive ahead of me I was anxious to get going. About 90 minutes into the trip the tire ripped apart. The tire repair person said he'd never seen a uhaul rim in that poor condition. He said they are usually in pretty good shape. The inside of the rim was quite badly rusted. It took approximately 4 hours to be back on the road. Bottom line a transport trailer with a leaking tire should not leave the lot!

The trailer I rented had 4 new tires and looked very good but when I got to my location and opened the door there was a few broken hangers and something plastic broken inside the trailer. Not major but I was surprised when I opened the door. I didn't open door at facility.

The man I spoke to on the phone at Van's to reserve the Uhaul seemed helpful and polite. However, when I went in inperson to confirm the after-hours pick-up, he was rude and dismissive. Needless to say, when the time came to pick-up and return using after-hours....it was a mess. I never received a contract, and had to rely on helpful customer service to assist me. Not a great experience...especially for the cost.

The guy that rented the uhual to us was rude. He didn't tell us the price or tell us anything about what we paid for. Just told me he needed my credit card. I asked what the total was and he told me and that was it. I didn't even need the uhaul till the 24th. I could have returned it the 23rd for cheaper the guy told me at the return location today.

Discuss all charges before adding them to the contract. I was charged for something I thought was optional. We did not discuss the damage protection coverage. I didn't bring it up and the agent did not ask if I wanted it. Would have been appropriate to explain if it was required or to give me the choice.

Customer service could have been better, the guy pretty much just gave us the keys and said ‘here ya go'. He wasn't rude, but he definitely wasn't super friendly either. I asked to rent a 2bed+ truck, which I assumed would accommodate 2 bedrooms, living room and kitchen. It did not. We would have made two trips with the truck but since we were paying per mile for mileage, we just made several more trips with our own vehicles. If the truck would have been appropriately sized, or if it were suggested that we rent a larger truck, we would have been able to make only one trip as planned. In the end, having a uhaul was helpful, but the whole experience was rather disappointing.

Went in on Friday to reserve a truck for the following Monday. Needed to pick up the truck at 8:00am Monday. Clerk said they didn't open until 9:00am, but if I had a smart phone all I had to do was call "800 UHaul" and someone would walk me through the process of picking up the truck. I ask where the keys would be located and he said out by their mail box. That whole area is overgrown with shrubs and weeds. I ask if I he needed my driver's license or my credit card and was told no, you are all set. Decided to investigate how to obtain the truck before Monday morning. Discovered I had to set up an account. Did that but not without much difficulty because it continued to say I needed a code to verify the account and it would never accept the code I entered. Finally backed out of the account and logged back in and the account was already set up. Decided to call the 800 number 800-Go-UHaul to find out what I needed to do to pick up the truck on Monday morning. Made 4 phone calls and after waiting at least 15 minutes on each call to be connected to a service rep. I hung up. Watched a You Tube Video of how to obtain the truck. The independent You Tube Video was very helpful. All U-Haul clerks should watch it so they will know the procedure or better yet all clerks should be required obtain a truck through their smart phone. Since I had to reserve the truck on line I began to worry I had two reserved since the clerk said I was all set on Friday. Made another call to 800-Go-UHaul. Waited 20 minutes for someone to finally answer. They were very helpful and sent me a link to click on when I showed up to get the truck on Monday morning. Arrived Monday morning, clicked the link. Had to go to the Key boxes and scan the bar code for the location (You Tube Video nor U-Haul rep. on phone said anything about this). Scanned location barcode, took a selfie, took a picture of my driver's license, Then it would not scan the back of my license. Began to chat, but finally got the back of license scanned. Next instruction was to find the location of the truck (thy only had 3 trucks there). You Tube Video showed truck number on the left front fender. Could not find the number anywhere on any of the trucks. Finally clicked on located truck and it gave me the key box number and combination code. As soon as I opened the door I noticed the driver's seat was ripped. Had to check off on exterior condition, fuel level and mileage, but was not offered the opportunity to check off interior condition. Started the truck and began loading a few things into it from my car. Got a call from my office (by the way no one said anything about verifying who I was with a an alternate phone number and/or a listing my business) my office person said she just received a call from the other U-Haul dealer in town and he told her my truck had been transferred to his location and I should go down there and pick it up. I told here to call him back and tell him I was sitting in a truck and it was running and I was not going to his location to pick up a truck. After 20 minutes of jumping through all the hoops I headed down the road immediately noticed a tire noise. A tire either has a slipped belt or a knot on it. Told the clerk when I returned the truck. While on the one day trip I noticed the truck number on the driver's side at the very back and top of the box. Apparently there lacks consistency as to where the truck number is located and no where in the instructions does it say where to locate the truck number. And as to the Contract Terms & Conditions/Agreement - 14 pages and 6,333 words. I understand the need to protect your company and its equipment, but really - who would take time to read all of that. You need to streamline that document so someone might actually read it.

The pick up and drop off was fine, however one of the loading ramps on the trailer I rented was bent. It could not be seen through visual inspection until the ramp was extended, then you could see the noticeable “u” shape. The ramp was fine for loading, but the bent ramp would not latch into the trailer for highway use without the use of a pry. Also the left rear tire on the trailer was bald in the middle 2/3 of the tire.

Go over all the fees with the customer. I got hit for $71 for 100 miles of driving when I only drove 33 miles. How is this legal? My initial charge was $70 - suddenly, it became $168, then nearly $400. I doubt I'll use U-Haul again.

This questioner is hard to answer correctly. I had no problem what so ever with my Massachusetts u haul. They did their job and got my containers to Hannibal. This was at a cost of $2400. This I thought was fair. Now the u haul price from Hannibal to Shelbina was $818. Shelbina is only 55 minutes away from Hannibal. How is that a fair rate? My three containers were brought to me on a trailer being pulled by a Chevy truck. They were left on the trailer for us to empty. When finished, they were taken away. I have no problem with the staff. They were very courteous and helpful. I guess I just don't see how u haul can justify that price for such a short distance. Where as the $2400. from Massachusetts to Missouri was fair. That is why I had a tough time answering the first question. Since this is the first time I ever moved, I have nothing to compare it with. With all that said I would have to rate u haul average.
