AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. I had the worst experience i’ve had with any U-Haul location, or generally any rental i’ve ever experienced. The location indicated online that it is staffed from 6AM to 10 everyday, but when I showed up there was no one there. I had to call customer service to change the reservation to self-pick up which took me waiting for a long time outside in the cold. When I got to the truck, none of the equipment I rented was in there. I had to rent dollies from another place which didn’t have the right type of dolly and ended up costing me 5 times as much as what would’ve been if they just had the dolly ready. The truck had tire pressure monitor error light on the entire time. The steering wheel was peeling off and every time after I drive I’m left with a layer of sticky black stuff on my hand. overall I had to deal with higher expense and significant delay because of this location’s false information, incompetence, and poor maintenance.

It was a nightmare to pickup the truck. There was no one at the location to help. Trying to get a code to open the lock box was hell. I had reserved the truck and gave a credit card. Thinking things were handled and I had to get a different credit card when I arrived. Something needs to be fixed.I am still waiting for a receipt.

Was charged for dolly and blankets and they were not available at this location. Called U-Haul customer service and they tried to help my noting it in the “system” but at the end I was still charged for those items which I never used.

TERRIBLE experience I will never go back to this place. I asked to check in at the desk they didn't know what to do, the u-haul website didn't give me a passcode to open the lock and get the car key I asked for help and nobody knew how to help me and they showed little willingness to solve it. I called uhaul central they asked to turn my phone off and on again to update the system and do the process again. I finally got a code. the place is terrible, very disorganized before renting online i asked if they had the truck i needed and they asked me to check amongst a bunch of abandoned cars. and finally the truck I rented was clean but the rear left light didn't work, that was dangerous.

Improve the mobile app. During the pick up phase, it did not work as designed. I had to call support for assistance. Support personnel was great. She directed me to the website and stepped me through the process. The mobile app worked better for the return process but I had to upload pictures repeatedly before the system accepted them. Finally, your billing is confusing. I received an additional charge with no explanation of what the charge was for. I willl only consider U-haul for future moves or storage if I can use a facility that is staffed with personnel and point of sale capability. Your app and 3rd party pick up site process needs significant improvement for the customer experience.

The pick up was not properly prepared for me. Also I had to call customer service to get the key for the truck because it didn’t give me the code in my self checkin. I was not refunded for the items that I had ordered but never received with the truck. I have had problems with uhaul but this was definitely the worst experience by far.

The van was too dirty and vehicle was not well maintained . The string of the vehicle was too lose and if not driven properly there was a chance if getting accident . Beside that , I was charged with the cleaning fee if $25 where I have kept the van clean and it does not make any sense to charges .

I have started returning the truck using my Android u-haul app, I was taking pictures from my phone and trying to upload the odometer and fuel reading. I have tried almost 10 times to upload the photos but there was an error. Luckily, I have used my wifes phone and she is using apple phone and that uploaded the pictures. I'm using AT&t and she's using Verizon. We both are in the city and have good connection I don't know it has to do with the app or whatever but I had a rough time uploading the pictures through my phone. On a side note customer service was worst, it takes 30 minutes to get the call connected and later one of an employee when I was asking questions she hung up on me. Hope you fix customer service issue and make it reachable right away.

Getting fined for no particular reason. I filled a gallon worth of use for using the equipment for only 4 miles but was charged fee for less fuel which amounted to 2 more gallons. Had I not submitted the photos of before and after it would be a big cheat to the customers faith. The 2 stars are only for the morning guy there.

Hi Team, I am seriously annoyed with the process of pickup over app. It is frustrating and painful. There could have been better way of getting the id verified and processing all the details. I wasted all most 45min to 1hr just to get approval from the concern department. I had better experience during store pick up. This mobile pickup is a worst nightmare. Please improvise the way to verify id and provide the approval. Last but not least the uhaul app sucks..Sorry for my bad language but really it is..

The location Exxon gas station 22 passaic Ave. Kearny N.J. 07032 had nobody at it to let me know how and where the key was when I picked the truck up. I had to call and wait 20 mins. for the return call to get the key. After I returned the truck I received a bill for $0.99 per mile even though the web site I signed up on I was quoted 24 hrs. Plus $0.49 per mile (150 miles) for $143.50. On top of that the Station charged me for three gallons of fuel @4.50 per gallon ($13.50) even though I got the truck with 1/2 a tank and returned it with 1/2 a tank. I put in 8.2 gallons and went 81 miles with the 3 gallons the station said they put in makes 11.2 gallons at 81 miles the truck got 7.2 miles per gallon. Chevy says the truck get 14 miles city and 17 miles highway. So either the station gave me a faulty van or they are charging me $4.50 per gallon for fuel they did not put in the van (the gas station I rented from charges $3.11 per gallon) I am disputing the charges and would not recommend anyone to do business with Uhaul if this is the dishonest practices your operation uses. the price I was quoted was $143.50 the price you charged was $153.93 even tho I went 81 miles vs. 150miles I estimated. I believe my bill should be $107.59 because of the lower miles I used. All my past experiences with Uhaul were good but this time I could not do business face to face so the company can do whatever they want. If you want to go back to being respectable go back to doing business face to face and remove these locations with out employees.

Probably one of if not the worst online experience i have ever had... the app is useless at the location, they shake you down for more money for parking your car while using their rental. i will just go to enterprise next time the few dollars in savings isn't worth the headache

Next time U-haul should choose a location that does not charge you $5 dollars to park your personal vehicle. And a business where the manager doesn’t tell you to go somewhere else if you (customer) don’t like it.

Anxiety occurred when the code to the lock-box didn't work. This was a mobile pick-up. So we couldn't get the key to the vehicle. The code was wrong because it was mistyped by U-Haul in the text message to us. It took about 13 minutes to get the correct code which was just one digit different. Otherwise, everything was SUPER.

This is a self service pickup location and it's very hard to Navigate through the U-Haul app many function does not work . U-Haul needs to update the app on Android. Though my issues were resolved after contacting customer care but I would suggest pick and drop trucks( or rental equipments) were in we have some one in person to assist.

I had to wait for 2 hours to pick up my rental, the online version of pickup is so pathetic . It did not give me the option to pickup so had to call customer service 3 times(with 20 mins wait time each ) and the fuel was not as mentioned on the contract .

Issues reported by phone on 06/19/2021. Truck steering was incredibly loose to the point that it felt dangerous; transmission wouldn't shift when needed therefor revving high and wasting gas; vehicle smelled of gasoline when in operation, and padlock did not work

The place doesn't have any physical location. Even we have to pay for parking car. Again I got two separate bill. One is for credit card around $7. I have no idea what was the charge for? It's very difficult to talk to customer representative.

The local phone number customer service was horrible. When called a couple of times to ask about helping getting the rental started on site, the only reply was 'rented on online' and hung up. This happened a couple of times. The 1-800 number rep was very helpful though.

Received a call from Exxon Utility from Uhaul for closing the contract. He was the rudest person I've ever talked to. I asked for a clarification and I said I was not comfortable giving my debit card pin on the phone. and he threatened me that if I don't close the contract I will be charged a late fee when in fact yesterday I was trying to return my Uhaul and the site and phone number were down.

The attendant asked me if I needed equipment, I told him I did since I paid for a dolley and furniture mover. He told me it was too cold for him to get them for me so I had to walk around the back of the building, squeeze between cars to get to them, only to find that they were buried in snow. He did not help me at all. Later when I returned the van, the other attendant got frustrated with me because I parked 6 ft behind where he wanted me. to. I had already returned the keys into the box so I told him if he needed it moved then he could do it. Overall, not great service.

I had the absolute worst experience when I got there they lied about being open and they were not the U-Haul I was supposed to rent was snowed in completely and no one knew what to do at the location or on the phone with customer service I will never use U-Haul again

It was never mentioned that there was not a customer service rep at this location. I needed to call in order to pick up the truck but my phone died so I had to find a place to charge my phone then recall for the combination to the locker so I can get the key. On top of that, a mechanics car and tow were blocking my way so I couldn’t get out until I asked them to move the vehicles.

I found the mobile app to be incredibly unreliable. It took us 45 mins to be able to get approval. We used the live chat and did not receive assistance from the for at least a half hour. When I called the UHAUL number, they told be they could not assist us with mobile pick up. I will never use mobile pick up again.

I ordered my truck online and went to go pick it up during the date and time specified on my receipt. They did not have the truck when I got there, telling me that side truck was never at that location. Had me call customer service because they were not able to help me in the store by the time I got through to customer service I was an hour late of where I was supposed to be with the truck. I was able to get a bigger truck and was told that they would extend my time considering I had to wait on hold to get a new one. Then when I turned in my truck they justTold me to leave I did not disclose how much I would have to pay or that I would get charged an extra amount of money for being overtime that they were supposed to give me originally. With so many other services out there that you can rent from I will no longer be using U haul.

This was the absolute WORST experience I have ever had!!!! There is no actual person to talk to and no direction as to how to get my key. There was a sign on the door to “call Ozzie for any questions” but when we called him he said “go to uhual.com” and very rudely hung up on us. We were delayed almost a full hour because I was on hold with customer service. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone!! I have moved many times and this was hands down my worst experience. Do not ever go to the uhual rental place in Kearney New Jersey.

My location was changed at the last minute(1hr before pick up), the Truck was blocked in on all sides so I had to wait 30m for someone to arrive and help me, and the moving tools I asked for were not in the truck. 20 years of dealing with U-Haul, my father worked for you when we lived in Tampa, and this is the experience that made my wife and I decided to seek moving help from other companies.

The person assisted us was rude! The truck was not checked properly. The engine repair sign was on. The pick up was 8am and the uhaul personnel arrived almost nine. The was no key at the pick up box but instead he has the key and we had waited for him almost an hour to get the keys. The area of location is too far. I will not recommend this uhal place. It's too crowded that it's not easy to maneuver to take the truck out. And the guy who assisted us is the worst like I am under his mercy in order for me to get the truck when I am a regular customer and I am not borrowing the truck for free. That guys attitude is not acceptable! I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS LOCATION AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS!

That’s horrible. Once I get there the keys weren’t at the box. I had to wait for somebody to provide my keys. After return the truck and received the electronic receipt, a few hours later I received a receipt with a price increase, they said because gas, but I filled it until the same position it was when I picked up. Horrible!

Picking up the truck outside of normal business hours was pretty straightforward, but it took a bit longer than expected to get approved. The gas station attendant was pretty helpful though! My issue is that when I called this location (during their business hours) to see about getting some equipment, it took a few times to get someone to pick up, and then they hung up on me! I was not able to get anyone to pick up after that even though I called several times after being hung up on. Overall, I would say this place is fine if you are doing self service. Unity Inc needs to work on their customer service.

The people there were extremely rude. Not helpful at all. And was out rite told to do the self serve with out an explanation of how to do it. The truck was the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever driven. There was a lot of play in the steering, the check engine light and air bag light were on. I was very disappointed

I got to the location at 9:30am just in case any paperwork needs to be done and the guy said I have to wait until 10am no exception to assist me with the UHUAL rental. Well I came back at 10am and the guy made me wait another 15 minutes (10:15am) and i was already upset do to the poor customer service. I provided my ID and credit card payment, then he just gives me the key and does not even checks the UHUAL van and I took a close look at the cargo van and check the gas. I return the cargo van back at 1230pm lot earlier of return time and notify the guy that the gas was still full no need of refueling the gasoline. The associate got upset wanted me to put gas and even knowing the tank was full. I told him no and show him a picture of the gas gauge saying full tank and he said that I still will be charge. I will never rent another UHUAL Cargo Van from that location again.
