Only 1 employee working when i picked the trailer up. Long line and people calling. Staff more employees! I received no return instructions. I returned after hours, and the paperwork said to use the app. I tried to use the app and it said there was an issue and to go to the counter. I had to call and was put on hold for 45 mins which is unacceptable. Again, get more employees.

ROBERT EStephanie insisted i use the mobile app despite my limited data plan and the app didn't work well on my 2 iphones or my husbands newer iphone. When we went to scan it to check the vehicle back in the scanning didn't work on any of the q or bar codes. We then had to wait 15 minutes to get a person to check it in Aside from all that, the transmission is on its last legs and when i reported it to Stephanie, she could have cared less and made me feel like i was stupid "did i push a button?" - didn't even check the very old vehicle out. And the power steering was non existent which made maneuvering it very difficult in the driveway. We didn't feel safe in that vehicle. Stephanie was horrible in so many ways - and didn't treat me like a customer; she treated me like an a idiot who was old and didn't understand or like technology. She is wrong. I don't like some one "making" me use an app that i don't want on my phone and refusing to provide an alternative. I will not use this uhaul location again.

Samantha BTrouble at move in. They tried to make us move our stuff into a different spot. Trouble getting locked in due to being there unloading after hours. You cant get out if youre in there after "closing" time, even with your code. Trouble moving out. Couldnt get ahold of anyone when calling / emailing. Ended up moving out on the app. The lot is a disgusting mess. Piles of old stuff everyone. Cars, trailers and boats thats are old and broken down, never being moved. Looks like a haven for rats. Happy to be out!

Apparently, people were having issues with the U-haul app not working, but the staff was very calm and professional in dealing with an upset customer. We did not use the app and had no problems at all with our trailer rental. It was inspected before we left with it and again when we returned it. Great experience and we would use this location again anytime. Gracias.
Tracy MI think it's totally unnecessary to require the tenant to take photos of the unit when moving out, when they're told by your employee that it's not necessary. As for the access card, requiring turning that in is superfluous as well. It can be deactivated by the staff.

There was another lady behind the counter that did absolutely nothing during my pick up and drop off. I did not get her name but she had a pink shirt on then a blue sweatshirt on when I got back

lawrence pSold us a U-Haul that would not come off the hitch Cassy was called and did not inform us to also lift latch plus twist it. Accused my husband of not lifting it, refered us to roadside , did not offer for us to bring it back immediately. Cassy kept kicking my signature off saying computer was picky as well as my emergency contact, kept adding another one due to as she put it it computer is picky. Cassy also shoved her phone camera in my husband's face then mine following us with it claiming it was the rental she was closing out but actually recording us. Would say I have more questions and then say no I don't after recording us. Cassy made us VERY uncomfortable and found ways to make process longer than needed be intentionally knowing we had a time limit. Did not believe we had issues with trailer as called her 12 mins after leaving. And heard us fidgeting with it. And initially refused refund until going to corporate.

The paper towels in the waste basket were overflowing onto the floor (2 days in a row at one time) and the toilet bowl didn't look like it had been cleaned in weeks.

Dennis KI could not get a straight answer on pricing from the beginning. Everything was " May and could". No definite answers and then the attendant said it's based on manager mood if she charges additional or not. I signed up for a 6 hour rental and dropped back off in 3 hours. And was them charged a $20 fee for returning after business hours. Completely shady from start to finish. I feel bad for Louis that has to train under this person. Won't recommend and was charged unethically. Do NOT go to this place.
brandon sDisclose additional fees up front more clearly, and make sure all the staff is on board in understanding costs. Have the truck ready up front - I had to walk way into the back to get out a truck that was parked in between two other trucks.

Michael GGood customer experience the only complaint was the internet service there, it pushed our move time back an hour and 20 min, and extra compensation would have been appreciated for the inconvenience. But the employee was patient and that was appreciated.
Gabriella CIt took 1 hour to rent truck even though I had pre-reserved the day before giving all the information and payment over the phone. I waited about 5 minutes for the employee to open the gate from inside to allow us to get the truck. After I had the truck I was beeping the horn at least 10 minutes for him to open it. My wife that was waiting in the parking lot had to go in the building to ask them to open the gate. The employee was messing around with his phone with his back to the cameras at the gate. He acted like he totally forgot someone was back there. When we dropped off the truck they were closed 2 1/2 hours early.

Lori SWhen you make a reservation for a pick-up at a location make sure they pick it up from that location. I had to pay an Uber to get to the location you sent me to. The location I had picked was close enough I could of walked to.

larry vThey almost didn't rent me the trailer I booked because their stupid FOB said my lights were not working on my truck. I told them there was nothing wrong with my truck. They got another FOB and again tried to say it was my truck and that they wouldn't be able to rent me the trailer until I got my truck fixed. I finally was able to convince them to hook the trailer up. Guess what, it worked with no issues. Their stupid light tester FOB does not work on 2021 Sierra Denali. The process to rent the trailer is a bit ridiculous. They asked for ID (which is fine). When they handed my driver's license back they said I was going to receive a text from uhaul. It wanted me to take a selfie and a picture of my license. Why would I need to do this if they just verified my ID? Then I had to give them an emergency contact. I gave them my wife's name and number. They then needed to call her (she was waiting in the truck) to see if it was ok that I used her as an emergency contact. WTF?

michael gI had to wait forever to get checked in. Only to finally be checked in by a lady with a poor attitude who kept informing me that she was "not supposed to be working yet". When I finally got to my truck it looked terrible. The breaks barely worked, the drivers seat was falling apart and in continuously and constantly dripped water from the door seal which was landing directly on my leg. Not being able to do anything about it , because I needed to drive safely, I arrived at my location with my pants soaked due to the drip. I will not be using U-Haul in the future.
Robert MI arrived 30 minutes early to pick up a 15 foot truck, only to see a note on the front door that they were in the back shoveling snow and to come them. Once they arrived back at the office they began to get me checked out. The girl at the counter was friendly but the manager came up to the counter and was rude and very short with both myself and her employee, finally got the key and went out to the parking lot to get the truck and it was not cleaned off, it was backed up to a very large snow bank so I couldn't walk around to check anything. Once I moved the truck away from the snow bank I was barely able to get it out of the parking space due to the snow, then I looked into the back of the truck and it was filthy and wet and not to mention the heat only work on halfway.
Jessica DSmelled like cigarettes. Waited 10 minutes for someone to show up even though there are cameras everywhere. Was told the wrong ID for the dolly was written on my contract. Overly intrusive process to approve the rental of a $100 asset. It's clear U-Haul needs new leadership. Worst experience with a company in years.

Susan SAfter making a reservation for the tienken and Rochester store, I get there just to be told they don't have it and me being there is not going to change anything just wasting time, had to drive 10 miles to another location and the price went from 113.00 to 297.00. never again
Zack SRemote check in saves no time at all and the drop off process using the app is redundant and glitchy. The experience, as a whole, was frustrating and annoying. It was so irritating that we won't be using UHaul in the future.

DAVID RI have rented equipment from your company many times,I have never been more upset of the way I was treated by the lady behind the desk.l never had to do the check in on my phone by myself, all she could say is I can't help you with the phone you have to do it yourself ,even at the end when I had to take pictures of the trailer to compare it to what I was renting the license plate did not match what was on the picture ,her comments was she didn't know what to do said to type And again said the one thing I heard at least 10 time I CANNOT Help You With That . Never should a employee say to a customer I can't help you with something but I heard it over 10 times, in the future will consider to rent from U haul I had a rental setup for next weekend but told the lady in that the way I was treated to cancel the trailer , I Will Never Go to the Romeo store for anything ever . I know nothing will ever come out of this.you have a big problem if this is how all your stores make your customers check in themselves on their own phone as your employees stands on the other side of counter saying I can't help you with that

CODY RI rented a truck to move from storage to my new home (from U-Haul direct, not the facility). When they called to verify they said I will have to get the truck from a different location than where my storage unit is, but that's not what it said when I made the reservation online through the app And then when I got the truck it had a little over a quarter tank. When I was done I put gas in it and took a picture, and dropped it off at the Wixom location which was closed. They said it was just under a quarter tank when I dropped it off and they charged me $60. I called and was told that it was just under a quarter tank and they couldn't do anything. Even if that was accurate, $60 for 2/16 of a tank? The location on 31 mile rd in Romeo was very nice, but I won't be renting from U-Haul again.

I just rented a truck about three months prior, without all the hassles, but this rental has sent me to the competition. Jason VHave been using them for a few years now. Decided to down sized. Didn't need as much room anymore. They were able to find me a smaller unit. The move went smoothly. They are very nice to do business with.
KATHY T | Overall ExperienceTo begin with, the person at the desk questioned us why we are using their Uhaul instead of the one 20 min away. Why does this matter? Then she needed 3 phone numbers of people who would pick up the phone (and she made sure by calling each one). Our Uhaul had a myriad of dents, scrapes, and scratches on it (it did have 170,000 miles on it) and Uhaul told us we had to document this with words and pictures before we could leave. Only a few of these dents were already acknowledged by Xs on the Uhaul and so we had to do Uhauls work for them and describe each dent and ding so they didn't charge us for something we didn't do. This took 35 minutes!!! The Uhaul felt like it was going to break down at any time. This whole experience made me never want to use Uhaul again.

Salah KYour process for renting a vehicle is not customer friendly at all. The check out process which involves the customer basically having to document the condition of the vehicle from physical damage to cleanliness prior to driving away takes way to long. I was made to think I would be responsible for anything wrong with the vehicle that was not noted. When I asked for the uhaul rep to go out and walk around the vehicle with me I was told it was up to me to do this. The young lady that checked me out for the rental van definitely needs to have someone work with her on her people skills. I choose Uhaul because I've rented vehicles before, never had any issues like I experienced yesterday. If this is a corporate direction I would recommend reviewing the whole process moving forward.
alan kAWFUL! Had an RV stored for 8 years, used Uhaul to store our home when we moved. Picked up RV and the Catylitic converter was stolen, the house manager (Stephanie) was less than helpful, had to contact corporate. A month later we emptied our 3 storage units and one of them were leaking and ruined several boxes of antique games and important personal items that were stored off of the ground. Again, Stephanie was oblivious to our property damage and not willing to correct the problem. I would NEVER use this place again. Save yourself the hassle with this place.

Andrew D | Online Move InU-haul is a difficult company to do business with. Originally I had purchased a camper that was stored at the facility. I wanted to just take over the storage agreement as I was in Texas and the camper was in Michigan. The staff informed me the only way I could do that would be for both parties to come in person and show IDs. Something that was not possible since I was in Texas. They had no problem signing me up for a NEW site, but I had to move the camper, again something I couldn't do from 1,300 miles away. I had to arrange with the seller to go and move the camper that he had already sold. Then when I needed to gain access for a shipping company to come move the camper, the staff would/could not give me the access code and directed me to the app. After countless hours trying to figure that out, I tried the website on my computer where I realized I had to 'associate' my rental agreement with my account even though the login was under the same email where they send my invoices every month. Also several times I tried to call the local office (during business hours) I wound up getting the central call center people who are basically useless for this type of scenario. Then when I tried to cancel, I had to upload photos of my 'cleaned out storage unit' - kind of impossible because I was never at the site and I didn't have a storage unit at all. I finally figured out how to cancel the contract. You have way too many arbitrary rules that don't make sense and cause unneeded frustration for you customers. Make it easy to do business with your company, not difficult. Based on my experience, I would never do business with this facility/corperation again.

Charles M | Overall ExperienceStephanie was horrible. Her customer service was fake and passive aggressive. She gave me attitude when I asked a question based off of false information she gave me because she didn't take the time look at my account before answering the question. I had asked if there were any specials. She said you get a free lock with your rental. I had already purchased a lock online and asked her if I get a refund for that one. She said, "how did you buy a lock online if you did the rental process online?" In her sparky way and before i could answer, she changed the subject and continued what she was doing. I made her answer me again about the refund and she said i had to call a number that she never gave to me. I tried to clarify, so i have to call a number for a refund just to being the lock back in store. Still am not sure on that one since she kept changing the subject. Then at some point told me that I don't get the free lock because I reserved instead of rented. When I asked questions, she answered them yes or no. For example, I asked if both my fiance and I could access the facility since he was also added to the account. She said no and went as far as to explain, you only get one access card. Once I went to check my unit that had a lock already on it because it was not available, I asked her again because I saw there was an option for an access code. She still told me the same answer until I pressed it and then she told me that I could pay a 1 time fee of $5 to get rid of the card and have an access code. I told her to her face, that's something you tell customers when we ask that specific question in the first place. That was not the only example of how she handled us. The I saw she was a store manager and had been there for 10 years. Not sure how she made it that far. I came to this place because it's close to home but I will be searching for a place further away just because of this girl. I've never dealt with someone so lazy at their job and I go to taco bell probably 5 times a week (exaggeration) and deal with teenagers. I was so dumb founded by the way she spoke to me and would shut me down in her passive aggressive way, I just stared at her until it registered and then would make her come back to my initial concern. Also, once we were assigned a new unit, there was a brand new lock, in fact in the unit.
Autumn K | First ImpressionsWe live in area of storage unit and stored our RV for 8.5 years, with a generous increase each year. Decided to move, go to same place for a unit, says to do online, that process could be a bit more clear, apparently I "reserved " the unit rather that "booked " it and when I went to get the lock, she said the unit was gone. Had to reapply for different unit and got a smaller one that I wanted. Ended up booking 2 more units, having to call your 1-800 # each time to verify the reservation went through, because the online process wasn't clear and because I was unable to reach the person in the office at my location to verify. Lastly, I'm renting 4 units/spots totaling about $700. Per month to store my stuff, that's a lot of money each month and there is no option for a multi unit discount. Customer satisfaction over gouging profits would be a better business motto. I will seek out other storage facilities in the future.
