Terrible experience from start to finish. The initial box drop off time was delayed by more than two weeks. Promised to waive storage fee as compensation, but did not. During shipping could not tell us where the container was at. On planned delivery day was told that the container did not leave loading point, this was false. Did not show up at delivery time. Took four phone calls to get the box picked up after usage and two days of time. When box was picked up was contacted by U-haul to arrange a pick up time. Nobody in this organization has any idea of what they are doing. Chaos!David W.

UHaul stored my Uboxes at the wrong location and then said they wouldn't deliver them because they were too far away. After 10 days of spending every day on the phone, UHaul agreed to deliver them on a Friday at 3. I took off work. I hired movers. The boxes never showed up. No one called. They were finally delivered 3 days later. And now I'm still being charged storage fees. I've lost A LOT of money and time and had my family sleeping on a floor for days because no one at UHaul was willing to fix the problem they caused. I will never use UHaul again.Kimberly G.
Moving is so stressful and trying to coordinate everything adds to the stress. I would suggest that if we are told we will be contacted with a window of pickup/delivery, that actually happens the night before with a contact with an updated ETA on the day of. I was told I would have a window to work with and was never given one, making it difficult to orchestrate packing/loading. However, the Newburgh location was helpful in problem solving.Jessica S.

So far I’m not impressed. My access code doesn’t work at all. I was given the U-haul “facilities” code to get into the building. However that means that my unit sets the alarm off when I go into it. Also not so sure how happy I am that I was given a facilities code. How many other people now have a code that allows them into the building where an alarm can go off and nothing happens?Mathew Z. | First Impressions

I had made a reservation online for a 10x5 storage unit while reserving a truck. In my U-Haul account the reservation showed for a 10x5 unit at this location (south road Poughkeepsie,NY), and showed a contract number. I was told that when I go to the unit center I would check in at the office and they would give me my unit number and access code. When I show up at the storage center, there is no office there, so I call and get connected to the Poughkeepsie office (which is at another location). They tell me that there is no reservation under my name, phone number, or the contract number that was showing on my reservation in my account. I was then told that I can go there and get a unit. I explained to the woman that I was with movers that I had hired paying them by the hour, and if they could do it over the phone. I was told I had to go in to the store/office. So more time wasted, I proceed to the store and was able to get a unit. I was told there were no more 10x5 units, only 10x10. I said okay just to get something being I had the movers waiting. I was asked if I wanted the first level, it would be $10 extra. I said okay being there was still much to do, thinking this would save a little bit of time. I get my unit number and access code and go. When I arrive back at the unit center the access code doesn’t work and I am on hold again for another 15 minutes. Finally got in, only to find out that not only was my unit NOT on the first level, it was at the complete opposite end of the building from the unloading area. I immediately called U-Haul again, put on hold again for several minutes, asking if they could switch my unit to a lower level being that was what I requested. When calling the local store it transfers over to the 800 number. I am finally able to speak with someone who tells me she doesn’t know why that happened and was calling the Poughkeepsie store to see what could be done. She comes back on the line and tells me she also couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone so sent a message to them to call me to resolve the problem. I have yet to hear from them. I feel that for all the trouble and inconvenience caused to me, my hired movers, and my family, not to mention the the additional expenses caused by U-Haul’s errors for the additional mileage and gas on the rental truck, plus the extra costs to the movers for losing at least an hour trying to straighten this out, I should be compensated in some way. I have rented U-Haul trucks several times in the past few years, so I am not a first time customer. If I am not compensated in some way I feel worth it, I will happily move my items out of the storage unit and go to another business. Also in the future I would not only discontinue my business with U-Haul, I would definitely not recommend U-Haul to anyone whether in person or online reviews.MARIA C. | First Impressions

To be honest, my reservation process was a nightmare, filled with misinformation.. It was not until Lyrssa Vitti came in as the new manager of the Poughkeepsie location that everything starting falling into place. She is extremely efficient, pleasant and totally on top of things. She stayed in touch with me throughout the process and made sure everything was being done properly.Julie R.
