I don't like using a phone web app to do the vehicle inspection or the vehicle return. It is intrusive and takes way longer than the original method. It also excludes people who use flip phones. I also think it is absurd and a violation of privacy for the website to ask for your phone's location during the return routine. There was no way to bypass this step either. So I stopped doing the return at this step. You should not be giving your phone's location to your browser, any websites, any apps other than your GPS app etc. The online/smartphone aspects of renting a car from Uhaul truly soured me on doing business there. My vehicle was also littered with dirty napkins when I picked it up.HUNTER S.

I was incredibly disappointed with my experience this weekend. Firstly, I got a call the day before letting me know that I needed to pick up from the University City instead of Overbrook, where I made my reservation. I showed up on time to pick up the vehicle, but the attendant was incredibly rude and unhelpful. My reservation also included a 2-wheel dolly, moving blankets, and a mattress bag. However, the location had no 2-wheel dolly for me, nor did they let me take a mattress bag. I am incredibly frustrated that U-Haul would let me make reservations for equipment that is not available to me (first making me go to a different location and then not having a dolly for me.) Luckily, I went back to the Overbrook location, where the employee there was able to get me a dolly and mattress bag and transferred the dolly on my contract to be dropped off with the 15' truck. All in all, I am incredibly disappointed with both U-Haul giving me reservations for equipment they don't have, and with the employees at the University City location. I will definitely NOT recommend U-Haul to family or friends, nor do I plan to use U-Haul again.ALEXANDER L.

Comments here refer to our reservation on 10/16. First of all, Masking was a major concern. We do have a masking requirement in Philly, but I think maybe 25% of customers and almost none of the staff were wearing masks. if we were in and out of inside, or self check-in was working perfectly (neither were true, see below), this might be addressble, but almost *nobody* successfully used self check-in, including us, and we waited in line or at the desk for an hour getting our reservation. In contrast to a previous visit (circa July), or visit there was substantially more perilous and time consuming. Multiple issues appeared to be the problem: - Staffing. There appeared to be 2 agents on the front desk, one of whom was super competent, the other was substantially less so (esp. in handling issues, which seemed to be hindering everyone's reservations). The agent who was less well trained had to ask questions at almost every step; effectively it meant one agent was doing two jobs. This also meant that they had to run out from the desk to the lot to check cars, clean them, etc. Just generally, too few people to handle needs. - Wait time. We spent an hour waiting to get help. I think this had fundamentally to do with (a) computer issues locally, (b) issues with inventory, (c) insufficient staff to process people (self-check in only worked for 1 of maybe 8-10 customers that came in whilst we were there). - Inventory, details in computers about inventory. It worked out fine, but we ordered a flat-bed truck and ended up with a van - the last one available. Given what we had to do, a full sized moving van would not have been possible for us. But there was no note or notification that would let us know that our equipment was going to be changed (until we got there). This is why self check-in didn't work, and why we specifically ended up in a line for an hour. I realized subsequently that there are other UHaul locations that seem less busy (and with more equipment) so likely if we do this again, we'll probably go to those locations (rather than this one), in the future.BENJAMIN V.

I received excellent customer service from Jimmy and personally if it was not for him I would hve gone to penseke rental with no questions asked but because Jimmy was my second encounter that turned a negative into a positive I stayed. I will not go into detail but please know I am formally writing a letter to Corp but back to Jimmy so kind so professional really a positive experiece. My original reservation for a 20' truck was cancelled by UHaul the evening before our move, with us having already lined up helpers, etc. We essentially were forced to go to a much further UHaul location to get a much larger vehicle (26') for a much higher price (higher per mile rate, plus more miles and more gas). Also, the 26' vehicle rode very poorly - the cab and storage was very clean but I rode terribly.MATTHEW B.

Because of the delay in our departure, which was Uhaul's fault, we had to return the truck after hours. There was no one from the company there, not even security. They were a hot mess. I called to let them know I would be there between 11-1. I arrived at 12:20 and was told since my reservation was for 11 and I was â€œover an hour lateâ€ that my reservation was cancelled. They did not have my van. The check-in process was supposed to be hands free, but required obtaining the key from inside. The corporate software for approval was slow, and took over 20 minutes to approve my e-sign in. We typically see new trucks here, but the van I was given was pretty tired, needed new shocks desparately, and was had some significant damage that wasn't reflected on the check-in pictures.JOHN H.

Pick up took 45 minutes. I was given keys to a truck that did not open the door and had to wait in line again. The truck had transmission issues and needed an oil change from the moment I got it. Return process at night/closed is absurdly long. They would not let me extend rental by a day even though many trucks there unused. Never renting from Uhaul again.Robyn S.
