What is the point of a reservation if you can change it on me without my knowledge, a notification to confirm isn't enough, make it more clear the time has changed. Had to drive 30 minutes out of the way for a different truck and it wasn't even there because someone else picked it up even though we had a reservation? Stupid system.Kayla R.

My reservation was switched from location to location, twice. Driving me 30 minutes out of the way and back. (They said extra miles were included for the inconvenience). The miles are not the problem. The almost 30 minute drive there and back, with gs the way it is, INSANE. The original location I usually use uhaul through was 3 miles from my home, and never once had any issues like this. The truck was dirty and had oil or grease all over the inside. I had to clean the truck when I arrived home as I didn't notice it until it was all over the back of my clothes and was pointed out to me. While driving, intermittently, the traction control light would flash on the dash panel. I called in to see if it was ok to keep driving or if I needed to stop. I was told it was fine, it flashes from time to time when towing. When I got to my hotel that night, I looked it up myself; apparently when the traction control light flashes intermittently, it means that the traction control system needs serviced, or is getting ready to stop. I was driving from Indiana to New Hampshire with my 3 year old daughter in the truck. I did not feel safe. Joe, at the Conway location was AMAZING, and was horrified of what had happened. He put me in contact with the regional manager for New Hampshire as he said NONE of your experience should have went this way. Somehow also, after they moved my reservation, the rate went up almost $200 from what I was originally quoted. We/I use U-Haul frequently, and U-Haul really dropped the ball on this one!!JONATHAN J.
I was moved sites a few days before pickup, then the new site didn't even have it ready. 24 hour pickup was not done, so I had to wait outside their office until they opened. Then, once I finally got it, they didn't have the dolly or moving pads I ordered, which they failed to inform me of.Russell H.

I had received confirmation that my pick up location was at Cadwells in Avon, IN. We drive there & there is no reservation for us. They look it up, and our reservation is in Plainfield but the location was closed until June 20th. So, we couldn't get our truck. We call another Uhaul facility in Avon & they were nice enough to get us a reservation at this location. It was such a mess. The representative I spoke to when making the original reservation assured me it would be in Avon. And, it wasn't. We wasted a good portion of our day tracking down where the truck was at. The gentleman at the Lynhurst and Washington location was very kind & helpful.Amanda R.

Train the staff in customer service skills! Arrived at pick up time and one worker struggled to help another customer. She finally called for help after the line was backed out the door. I finally get to the counter almost 1/2 hour later and the manager was cold and non-apologetic for the long wait but he did step in to help the employee. In the middle of helping me, he walks off (without saying a word) and is on the parking lot talking to someone. I literally have to go outside and get him! I told him this was terrible service and we proceeded to argue back and forth. He claimed I came at a busy time of day (4:30pm). Well, if that was the case, why do you have a new or unskilled worker handling all the customers while you stand outside and talk! The manager really needs some training in soft skills and not just be a manager in name only! When I first approached the counter he said in a rather rude way; "Before I even get started on this it's going to be a $250 deposit. As if to insinuate that I couldn't afford it. This info does need to be on the website not taped to the window in the store. However, I watched him take a credit card over the phone to pay for another person's rental. The person whose credit card was used was not even in the store and he conducted most of transaction with the person on speaker phone! Who knew you could do that?? The staff moved with no sense of urgency even though people had been waiting and overall just not pleasant at all. Maybe they think people HAVE to use this company. Some people might but I don't, so I'll take my money where they appreciate the customer and at least display some customer service skills. Lastly, when I asked the guy was he the manager, he said yes. I just said okay, he obviously knew what I was thinking because he rattled off, "and my manager is so and so and you can call him"... apparently he has no issues with being called in on. Leads me to believe it probably happens all the time and nothing happens to him so I didn't bother, I just won't be back or use Uhaul again. The truck was filthy and had the previous renter's drink containers on the floor and cup holders. Good riddance!Joy N.
Air conditioning barely worked. On a hot day and moving, it would be great to ensure that was working. Check engine light came on but was not an engine issue. The trucks should have more maintenance completed to ensure they are in proper working order.nicole M.
Trailer was damaged and it did not snownio in initial pictures. The employee I dealt with that the counter was rude. If this was the only U-Haul I could rent from in the future. I just wouldn't rent from U-Haul. Lesson learned. Stick with the other locations I have used in the past.Nathan H.

I didn't actually have a walk through with the U-Haul representative when I originally got the vehicle so I took a video of the severely damaged cargo van before I left. They also didn't give me any paper work or have me go over the coverages. I checked back in and the pictures they had of the car showed it was in perfect condition. Thankfully I had the original video. They charged me for damage waiver even though I declined it on my online reservation (probably because the car was severely damaged and they needed to get it fixed) I also took the vehicle back at 12:30 pm the same day and I had to call 24 hours after I brought the vehicle back for them to even close the rental out.Joshua H.
We reserved a dolly a week in advance and we were told we could maybe drive to another location to see if they had one, but there was no answer at that location. The passenger door leaked, which was awesome in the rain. We were unable to drop off the truck near our destination and were required to bring it back to the Lynhurst location. Gas is nearing $5 a gallon!! I'm confused as to why we bothered to make a reservation for the things we needed in advance if they have no intention of actually having said items. Disappointing.Sam W.

It was a horrible experience. I asked for one way drop off. I live in wabash, IN. 46992. The lady was new employee. She had difficulty with puter. She had to re-enter name and my info three times. She also said, oh we have location in wabash when I said I wanted one way drop off. Manager kept helping her. Check out was about 40 min. Upon returning to wabash I dropped trailer off at wabash location about 9:30 pm. The Indy manager said the late drop off would be ok. Two days later received call from John wabash manager. He said that the contract said return to Indy. It would cost double if not. Took off work early to return to Indy after hours. Received email saying a late fee if not paid within x number days. I was in Gatlinburg TN. i don't have credit card. I paid with cash. Today I drove to Indy to pay bill with cash. I called Indy number several times and sent email. NO RESPONSE. I called 800 number several times to no avail and the collection number and said call back during working hours which I did multiple times on three days. My experience is that you're not customer friendly. Especially if one is not tech savvy. Michael Weibelmichael W.

The truck was clean enough but didn't smell very good. I thought the deposit was very high, it used to be $100. Now I'm still waiting for the charge to drop off and the rental amount to be charged to my account. I think having to wait for the rest of my deposit amount it tying up my money that I could be using for other things. Hope that works out OK.Gary S.

I got in the truck after picking up the keys and it was absolutely disgusting. Smelled like smoke, not clean interior with pieces of food all over the floor and the rear of the truck was even worse. Broken glass, pieces of bagel on the ground, crayons. Disgusting. I was supposed to pick up a U-Haul at Hines self storage in Plainfield. I confirmed with the owner of the place on Thursday. Even though he was going to be out of town he already had the unit ready for me. U-Haul corporate then called me Friday night and changed it on me. This made me have to drive an extra 20 miles and get charged the extra miles which is absolutely ridiculous. I shouldn't have ever had to pay the extra mileage especially after confirming with the owner the previous day. This isn't the first time either. Last time they changed the location pickup too making me drive an extra 30 miles and have to pay it. I will never ever recommend U-Haul ever to anyone. Over the last couple days I've been writing negative reviews on every website I can find in order to let everyone know my experience. Also I forgot to mention the lady from corporate that called to change my pick up location hung up on me after I questioned the pick up location. She said, â€œyou either want the truck or not?â€ I said yes I need the truck. Right after that she hung up on me. Absolutely ridiculous!! Never again U-Haul. Never again!Michael S.

I normally have had good experiences with uhaul as in general and the store location itself. This time was very dissatisfied. The truck issued was loud, drove rough, and the back was dirty. Old ripped boxes, grass particles, red strings attached to the side boards. The link the text sent me did not work and I could not upload pictures to show the condition. It kept saying there was an issue. The gentleman I communicated with was very professional and kind. No issues with the staff. They need to have the engine to that truck worked on.Robin J.

They assigned a trailer and hooked it up, then let us know that the specific trailer can't leave the lot. He then hooked another trailer up but the lights were not working. We then had to follow him to another location to get a different trailer.Carrie S.

Problem is, when you advertise 6' wide trailer with ramp, the opening is not 6'. The opening with ramp is 57â€ exact! Please add this information to listing!Michael D.
The only problem was the quote given to me on the phone was not accurate with the cost at the location when I arrived. You need to make accurate quotes on the phone to ensure someone can afford the cost when getting to the location. It was significantly more when I got to the rental location.CRYSTAL C.

I reserved and paid for a dolly and blankets ( the truck had none and none available when asked. I was moved to a different location for pickup 4 hours before my pickup and was promised a $50 credit which I have not received. Also still need credit for dolly and blankets that I paid for too.Alex H.

Agent was rude, did not check brake lights or turn signals , complained that people who rent trailers always show up when it's raining, I T had stopped when we hooked up. I went to activate turn signals and he walked away. He made little to no eye contact. I hope it was just having a bad day. I doubt it. The eyes tell you everything This guy hates his job. The only issue I had is that the back of the truck had a sign that said if we cleaned it we would get 25.00 off which I mentioned to the clerk when I returned the truck. I did not get 25 off. When we picked up the tank was not on full, the cab and back were dirty with trash. The check engine light was on. Overall this truck would be the worst I've ever rented. I understand thats like the luck of the draw though. I do wish I would have gotten my 25 off though since we cleaned the truck of dirt and trash that wasn't even ours. Overall the checkout clerk did a great job and both people I dealt with were very nice.Kristina A.
