Patrick L.I planned this trip months ago and reserved the uhaul for the Washington DC location which is less than 5 minutes from my son's place. We were in DC to move him across town to another location and then to bring home some things to Indiana that he didn't need. I got a call the day before from where we were to pick up the Uhaul that there was none at that location for us. Very frustrating when we planned our trip and took off work around that. They told us there would be one at a Virginia location though, so we drove 40 minutes out of the way to get it the next day, causing us to get a later start than we had planned. When I got to the Virginia location, after waiting in line for 45 minutes, I was told that the Uhaul wasn't there and wouldn't be there at all. They then sent us to Maryland another 40 minutes away, where we finally got a Uhaul that we had reserved months before. Besides the outrageous gas we spent running yo three different states due to the fault of Uhaul, we were six hours behind schedule and we had to be back in indiana for work at 8:00 am on Monday morning. Our original intention was to be home by 8:00 pm after a 9 hour drive. We returned home at almost 4:00 am. Totally a frustrating and ridiculous experience. Uhaul could have at least Gabe us a discount for the time, gas money and inconvenience. Won't recommend Uhaul because if someone doesn't return the uhaul even though you reserve it way in advance, you could still be screwed. Not a happy customer!!

Brian K.The location was fine. When booking reservations for a 26' truck, mobile check-in is not available. I had to get in line for 48 minutes to pick up the truck. The online form shows Smartshare is available for the 26' BUT IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. It caused almost 1 hour delay to pick up and they made my 4-hour rental into 3 hours.

Tommy L.The outside staff were argumentative and dismissive of questions and were barking orders. Customer service was abysmal. They gave me truck with obvious damage and I had to zip tie the front bumper to stop it from rubbing against the front wheels. Very unsafe. Overall terrible experience.

Rita D.This location is the closest to my home in Maryland. That is the only reason I go there. I have picked up trailers from this location before, in fact the one that I took up last week to Massachusetts actually disengaged from the ball less than 2 miles from where I picked it up on my way home. When I returned to the U-Haul location I received a very dead pan, well we hooked it up right and wanted to show me the photographs they had taken on their phone, which to me was completely irrelevant as it did indeed come off the ball and a police officer who stopped to help me re-engaged it and tightened it down properly. I will have to say that the gentleman who received my return today was the most pleasant of the people that I had dealt with ever at that location. Again just because of where my home in Maryland is this will be the location that I rent from but it is not a very desirable location .
patricia P.I understand that the nature of this business, but some of the vehicles (box trucks 10') are just raggedy. Sun visor hanging and obstructing my view and no way to attach it properly as it was broken. Passenger side mirrors were cracked and partially broken off. The ignition was not working properly. I had to fumble with it each time I went to start up the engine. The vehicle I had sounded like there was an engine problem. However, I was more concerned about the safety items. Again, I understand how customers are and they don't take care of the trucks but please fix things that pose a safety issue.

OSCAR Q.The employee completing my contract was new & needed training on how to use the system. The manager did not assist in training until the contract was very messed up. When I picked up the truck they split my reservation so I could come back the next day to pick up the auto transport after loading the truck. When I came back to pick up the auto transport rather than pick up the other piece of the reservation, a new reservation was created & I was forced to pay a 2nd time for the auto transport & promised a refund would be issued in 3-5 days. Also, the new auto transport reservation was done as a one day & not a 4 day reservation so it looked like I was returning the auto transport late. I also was not given the utility dolly I had reserved so a refund had to be created for that as well. I then received an email from U-Haul indicating my reservation had been cancelled since I did not pick up my auto transport. I assume this referred to the one in the original reservation. I am still awaiting my refund on the messed up reservation.

The trip was already stressful, and the fact I was wrongfully charged just adds to it.

I folded it, maintained it in the corner away from me, and returned it with the truck. For your next customer: 1) call them ahead of time BEFORE they Uber to the agreed-to location that the location did not successfully get the truck into inventory, ready for them - that they have to go down the street instead to another location 2) at check out: speak more slowly and enunciate! - do you think that we rent large trucks all the time - and no exactly what to do, what questions to ask ..?! a LITTLE more courtesy would be appreciated.

The trailer was not attached to our vehicle properly and ended up disconnecting from the hitch while on the highway causing our vehicle to almost flip and almost hit two other vehicles. We had damage to our property that we were moving in the trailer due to the trailers faulty instillation. This was an awful experience and could've resulted in the death of my family and I or other drivers. Still waiting for the general manager to get back with us. It has been two days since they told us they would get back to us within 72 hours.

Joseph F.I explained at the time of pick up that we only needed two days to get from MD to NH but was told the system automatically determines it to be three. I said we don't need the trailer for three days, but the person shrugged it off. I called the main uhaul number a few times today but after nearly ten mins on hold i gave up. We returned the trailer today (day 2). Yet the contract says return day is tomorrow. It's not right and I ask that we please be charged for time used. Also, I had to go to three different locations to get the trailer since my “preferred location†did not have one available. That wasted about two hours before a 9 hour drive. Uhaul should take responsibility for this in the form of a credit. It's the right thing to do. Thanks.

UGOCHUKWU O.Uhaul online app needs work, I opted to check in in person cause it's typically faster when you're not afraid of human contact, and I still had to check in online and take pictures of my drivers license instead of the employee just making a copy or verifying my drivers license. Storing images of sensitive info on one's phone is very risky and Uhaul requiring it for their services should not be mandatory to get service.

Theodore H.The trailer I was given had steel cords showing on one of the tires. The rental location told me to get the unit off the lot - I was blocking customers. I called roadside assistance, and the tech who came out seemed the unit unsafe and had it removed by flatbed. The front axle had been damaged in a prior accident and not repaired. It was floating freely, and at speed would have probably flipped, pulling my truck over with it. I have photos and video of the unit showing its condition. More than poor service, this is actionable.
