I am a student. I rented a van from Uhaul of Chelsea NY to move my language from the hostel to Brooklyn. The rep insist I must return back their van that they don't leave the van in other location. I had no choice but to drive down to Brooklyn and back to Uhaul of Chelsea Manhattan. I lost value time, had to cough more money from my pocket because more miles, while trying to buy gas (it only use E85 gasoline and there are limited places where you E85 gas is sold), thereby I was charged a extra for gas. It's purely rip off. I ended up paying almost $200 just bcos I took a Uhaul. It's crazy and I'm highly displeased about the service. I will never return back to Uhaul of Chelsea never!!!Abiola B.

I always use this place when I need a truck for work and they always deliver. Always have trucks available(atleast when I need it!) Plus I even left my galaxy buds in the cup holder and they made sure to find it and give it back. Thank you! Would recommend to allObed G.

The service of customer care was terrible. I reserved pickup for small job. I went to office and show my all identification and she gave me wrong truck. She directly told me that I have mistake and i have to take cargo vans. I request her to get proper vehicle which I resaved and she told me that is not available. When i didn't agreed to take wrong truck. She check again and find my reserved pickup. I ask and request her that to set my drop of location to Jamaica. She said there is no rule to drop of that pickup to Jamaica. I have to drop of that pickup to Chelsie, Manhattan. I had to loaded $20 more fuel for that. I guess she was lying that "there is no rule to drop of that pickup to other location.". I recommend all uphaul customer never get help from her.Md Mamun R.

Impossible to get a hold of someone on the phone. No one tells you you need to take photos and complete the online return while you actually still have the van. The online checkout doesn't allow saved photos to be uploaded. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCEWilliam T.

The employees working there were rude, could care less about the customers, one was even on personal call while talking with us. We got treated so poorly at one point when we called about the transmission was shot. We had only used the uhaul a total of 17 miles and at first the truck just sounded loud. Once we got to the storage unit the reverse stopped working. We had to push the truck! We couldn't go over 20 mph, it would rev and then not move! We took videos fo the horrible sound and how it was not working. We never got to finish our move! We decided the best thing was instead of going to the upper west side to drop off some things we took them with us and went straight to the chelsea facility that was about 1 mile away. NO ONE apologized, was nice, helpful NOTHING! When we arrived we were afraid to pull over on the side of the road so we pulled into the first bay we saw. We told the guy something was very wrong....HE in turn started going at us saying "why did you pull here" drop off is there and pointed....well there were several drop off signs after some exiting bays so we thought this was one of several. Was no need to get rude. Shame on Uhaul and all their employees! And we thought we were being nice and stopping our trip to get the truck to them instead of the transmission really blowing and being stuck on a oneway or bridge! I even called from the storage until and was on hold for 30 min! No one answered as to what they wanted us to do. We couldnt leave it at the storage place as their was no place to do so. We have rented with uhaul before and can understand things happen but the way we were treated was like garbage and no one offered even an compensation etc for our inconvenience. The man who checked us in didnt greet us, we tried telling him something is wrong etc...he just said "$110". not niceMICHEL C.

I was not informed about overcharges. I was told when I picked up the van that I would not be charged for another day if I brought it back an hour later the next day. For example, if I returned 9am on Saturday when I picked up 8am on Friday I was told I would not be charged for the extra hour. When I returned I was charged for the extra hour as if I'd kept the van for another day and charged for two gallons of gas. There must have been something wrong with the gas meter because I returned it at the same level I picked it up. I was overcharged $75 for my rental and I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service and misinformation.CLAIREELIZABETH K.

Get rid of the facility fee, take honest pictures of the vehicle, and maintain the vehicle. There were severe scratches on the roof (the photo angle of the default roof photo hid all of them). The facility fee is absurd. The tire pressure warning light was also on the entire time. As you know, I can't just call and get a human on the phone in 10 seconds to trouble shoot (maybe add an emergency line to get a human right away - give each renter a code for that tied to his/her reservation), so I had to drive with uneven tire pressure, which no doubt gave me worse gas mileage. Also, the recently increased rate per mile is crazy. You jacked up your prices by more than 25%. It's no longer viable for small moves.BRANDON M.

The folks just weren't helpful. I had reservesd a furniture dolly. They very nonchalantly were saying, "oh well! We don't have one." Then eveyrhing else was "Here's why we CAN'T help you." And the didn't. Like ..... AT ALL. So odd.Dale D.

Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I signed a contract detailing after-hours drop off, then fully complete the after-hours dropoff process online, only to find out this specific location does NOT offer after-hours drop off (per a literal piece of paper taped to the door). I then had to defend myself and my SIGNED CONTRACT against said piece of paper.Giovanna O.

Where do I begin? Don't have the option to be able to rent a truck that you don't have available and don't let people rent trucks for hours that they're not allowed to return them in. Such a ruthless, awful, system and no one gives any grace. So done with using uhaul. Good riddance!jordan L.
