I was supposed to get a call the day before my rental to confirm everything was good to go and I didn't. I called the morning of the day I was supposed to pick up to confirm and was told that they had my reservation but they didn't have a truck for me. The guy I talked to said he would call someone and someone would be calling me back. After 2 hours with no call, I called back and was told by someone else that they were going to upgrade me to a bigger truck for the same price. We specifically wanted a small truck so it fit in a space we had in the yard for it to load our stuff, but we didn't have an option at this point because it was 3 hours before pick up. I also had to buy my own lock for the truck because it didn't have a lock, and I feel like that is not my responsibility. I was also told there was 5/8 of a tank of gas, and there was less than a quarter, so I had to get gas as soon as we left the building. I will not be going back to Uhaul on Roosevelt Ave in York.Shelby W.

The truck we rented was infested with bed bugs. Before moving in to our new home we had to off load the contents on the front lawn so that it could be sprayed with insecticide. We spent $750 for the exterminator. We have contacted the manager of the of the pick up site many times and have yet to hear back from him.Timothy H.

I rented a truck 3x in a week, yet I couldn't get a grace period of an hour for return of final rental truck & ended up paying for another entire day! That is not good business and entirely ridiculous to be charged an entire day after paying them close to $750 for multiple rentals in a week's time, total rip-off and BS! We had reserved an appliance dolly to move washer/dryer. the store did not have one, and when I asked for alternate solutions, was just told that dollies are not guaranteed, too bad. On moving day, being told 'tough luck' is not what I want to hear. The attitude of the clerk was 100% non caring. He did not represent UHaul well at all. We ended up scrambling to get a dolly and took care of ourselves. This entire incident reflected very poorly on this location.Eric I.

The vehicle reeked from cigarette smoke that it burnt my eyes. When I turned on the AC is smelled like cat urine. I had to jiggle the ignition key to get it to turn over. The facility was accomodating, but the vehicle experience was less than pleasant.MARJORIE M.
After getting upgraded for a truck I didn't need due to the incompetence of the staff as well as said staff doing fuck all except smoking in the parking lot I successfully moved. When finally traveling well over 100 miles in a 26 foot long 20,000 pound behemoth, wasting gas payments for it I was ready to turn it in. However when finally trying to check it in after hours and using the verified message system to do it automatically it was glitched, forcing me to use the helpline number I was left on hold for around 18 and a half minutes I had a 30 second long conversation with a man saying how much he â€œvalued me as a customerâ€ and transferring me to someone who could help after that I waited around another half an hour on hold sitting in a parking lot while I patiently waited for it to be answered. A woman answered the phone finally sending me an email so I could check it in manually. This business's model is an actual joke with meme levels of intelligence and even worse customer support times. I would rather move my furniture by hand the over 100 miles to save myself the headache of working with such failures again.HUNTER D.
Reservation to pick up truck was switched 15 minutes after the time that was reserved. Had to drive 45 minutes to pick up truck at another location. I was told â€œit's all based on availabilityâ€. Someone messed up. The dolly was not in the truck, and there was food in the cup holders and all over the floor. While waiting in that parking lot (Harrisburg location), some woman fell in front of the store and busted her lip and forehead on the ground. The Uhaul employee gave her a brown paper towel to wipe up the blood, offered her no other assistance, and went back inside. When picking up the auto transport the next day (York) it was much different. The young woman and young man both help attach the transport and helped secure our vehicle. It was a huge help.Michael D.

I ordered a hitch with a 2" receiver when I got to the Uhaul, there was a 1" receiver. I told them about it and was told that I should have come in to their shop instead of going to the call center. I would have to bring it back and pay an additional $40 to get it fixed. What is the purpose of a call center if they can not get the information right. There was a dirty mask left in the van from whoever used it before us. They forgot to give me the dollies I paid for, and the furniture pads, then denied that they neglected to do their job. I went in politely to let them know of the inconvenience and asked if we could get a discount for the wasted time and miles. They said talk to whoever is in when I return the uhaul. I ended up having to return after hours because that wasted an hour of our time to go back and get the dollies.Kaylin L.

The beef between the employees should never come before their job. The women who sat in the office while two people ran the store on 09/13 at around 4pm should be fired. As a customer who has to wait in line and watch on the cameras an employee not helping when clearly the women in the front doesn't know what to do. And also The man who was there basically running the store should get a raise or something, he was doing three peoples job on his own. After reserving two hand trucks for my move And actually believing my reservation meant I would have them RESERVED. I was extremely upset to hear the sales associate say they are OVERBOOKED on handtrucks. This caused us to use movers LONGER due to not being able to stack and move boxes quicker with a hand truck. I was charged 372 dollars on a 71 dollar truck fee. They still have not given me my money back, since it was just on hold as the manager said. Still has not returned to my account. Also they have 0 communication if you need extensions or anything with your reservation.ORLANDO B.
Ensure vehicles are in better shape. The right front fender flew off the pickup truck I was driving on I83 and nearly hit a car behind me. I am extremely lucky it did not cause an accident. When I returned the vehicle and pointed it out I was told to not worry about it. It was just brushed off as if nothing happened.GREGORY D.
I went to rent a storage unit upon return of vehicle. They gave me an upstairs unit without telling me, after I'd signed the contract. I'm a shrapnel ridden vet, and purple heart recipient. No way I could have managed that with my disabilities. After a significant waste of my time, I asked how much it would cost for another day of use. They offered it free in order to make up for being led around on a storage unit. It took a few more miles, and 2 hours extra to drop my property off elsewhere because I wasn't able to get what had been promised. Cleaned it well, and left it with more fuel than was left for me. For some reason, this costs me 67 dollars, and a ten dollar flat tax. I had 140 dollars to survive off of for the rest of the month, only to have that reduced by half, because I was mislead by your associates. I was already uncertain as to how well I'd survive, and mow I'm left feeling utterly hopeless. I don't deserve this.Christopher A.

My vehicle was totaled, and when I called to make the reservation for a hitch installation on my new vehicle, I was told by the agent that the cost of the hitch was covered by the collision warranty on the previous hitch. I think it would be good for the website and/or app to recommend that the customer show up anywhere from 20-45 minutes earlier than when they plan to leave the premises. I lucked out and was able to find a parking spot for my car as another customer was heading out just as I was arriving. Anyone else arriving after me (at 7am) would have been out of luck for where to park while they picked up their rental vehicle if the parking lot didn't clear out a bit more by the time they got there. It was difficult to find the Box Truck that I had reserved online, and when I did find it, it was blocked on all sides by other box trucks. When I hit the "I can't find/access my vehicle" it cycled through to the next available one which I was thankfully able to back out of the parking area, so the issue was solved, but there was definitely a moment of panic thinking I was going to have to ask someone behind the counter to move several vehicles just to get out to it. PLEASE NOTE: While downloading and using the app does make things a little bit easier, you'll still have to go into the store and have one of the employees there give you the key for your vehicle. The app says to go up to the counter and show them your phone, but if the lines are crazy long and people are getting a rental set up at the desk it could be a while before you can get your key. It would be really helpful if there was a separate line that people using the app could just walk up and scan a barcode or something along those lines that would just dispense the key so that the app customers can just carry on with their day while the employees are freed up to help out the other customers without interruption. I was a bit worried about the pictures that the app displayed when it asked you to compare the 'latest photo' of a particular side of the truck before agreeing or disagreeing that this was what it currently looked like. You couldn't zoom in on the pictures, and none of them were up to date as there were scratches and dents on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle that didn't quite look like they were shown in the photos. Out of an abundance of caution I rejected each 'current' photo, and took new photos for every view. I also was a bit surprised to find there was only a quarter-tank of gas so I had to immediately stop at a gas station first thing before heading out to get my stuff. On a positive note, I will say that my interactions with the employees were very nice and they were super quick on the return process. They were able to give a quick once-over of the box-truck and have me checked-out and on my way within 10 minutes of my arrival to return it. All in all, I was able to get the type of truck I reserved and was able to get my move done, however with all the various issues that I ran into, I wasn't actually on the road to pick up my things until close to an hour after I arrived. It would be great if they could make the process a bit more streamlined.Timothy K.

It was a cluster from the moment I arrived. The truck wasn't where it was supposed to be located, so I searched for it and found it in the back, then I went to the lock box and it was hanging open with no key, so I went inside. They then gave me a key and I went back to the truck and got in to find it completely empty of gas! I go back inside and tell them, they give me a key to a different truck. I go to that truck and the key wouldn't work to start the truckâ€¦ so I go back inside, they came out and showed me the key was â€œ pickyâ€ and how to use it. Almost 45 minutes it took to finally leave the parking lot.. and I only had 3 hour time slot to begin with!!! Thank goodness I had my mom to help me get the item moved quick enough, but that experience was just horrible! We were sweating from all the back and forth while carrying our moving blankets and items from truck to truck in 90 degree weather!Angie Y.

I would have rated this higher. But I booked my storage a week before my move. Unloaded my stuff to find out my storage room 1018 has a lock on it. My stuff is sitting in the hallway waiting for the lock smith to show up he seems to be busy these days because it been almost 24 hours. Also I questioned why My Im being charged 10x10 rate while my storage is 8x8. I was told the price board was incorrect. It also seem that the website is incorrect too. The person who took care of us did as much as they had to do. Not very customer friendly. I also asked about a mouse problem since there was a big sticky mouse trap in the storage unit I was renting. I was told there wasn't a problem. The only problem was the sticky mouse trap got stuck to one of my boxes and it cannot be removed no matter how much you pull at it.
