I have rented a van from this location annually for several years and always had a great experience. This year, the van had some body damage to the side doors, so they did not open all the way. From now on, I will check all doors before leaving the lot. This van shouldn't be rented until the doors are repaired.Michael T.
The only feedback I have is that when I pulled up during business hours to return the truck, I stopped at the sign that said someone would come out to assist me, but no one ever came. Eventually I went inside and was greeted and helped by someone very friendly! I believe the person who helped me was jolyne brown, and she was so kind. She helped me with the truck return and refunding unused boxes. She was clearly a little new, but was extremely kind and competent when working through issues or confusion. She also went above and beyond to lend me some tools so I could fix my bike to get home. 10/10Ely S.

We arrived at 6:45 pm after a full day of moving to return the car. The two women workers had disabled the automatic doors 15-20 minutes before closing and would not answer knocks. They refused to check in our car (we had to do an after hours return) claiming that they took their last check in at 6:45 (it was not yet 6:45 pm). This is the best UHaul location I have ever been to. The other locations I been to have had terrible customer service and cold demeanors. I would recommend this location to anyone. Tyffany is so awesome and so helpful and kind. She is also very patient. Her energy was so awesome the first time I went to this location that I will continue to go to this location for all of my needs. I am really sad about what I just notice. Yes, the rental was ok, nothing to complain. I got the truck at 9am and returned it the same day, before 7pm. Both pick up and return with the store staff. However, checking my credit card bill, I saw a strange charge from U-Haul, and realized that I am being charged for a missing dolly!! The dolly was used and returned inside the truck! Truck was returned for a staff member that said that I could go, that I was all set! And now I am being charged for a missing dolly??! I had an issue with the truck i picked up at another location. they did check the code but said it was nothing and cleared it and sent me on my way with the tow dolly i needed to pick up there. the tow dolly was very old. i cut my can on the ball locking knob some of the chains were a bit worn from probably dragging in previous trips. they did not ask if i knew how to hook up or check my car would work with the dolly. i knew it was but nothing was checked.Robert G.

Every time I go to this Uhaul on Water St, I have a problem. 1st time they gave me a van with a temporary plate (no plate on the back of the vehicle) a paper in the front window. And with my 2nd time they did not come out with me and check me in. Now they are charging me $68 for gas stating I brought it back with a half tank. I received the van with the fuel gauge reading past full went 27 miles and put $10 worth of gas in it. I will never rent another Uhaul from Water St. and I will always take a when I pick up and return back pictureJUNE G.

Please do not charge people for damage they don't cause. I may not have checked the side view mirrors physically by touching, but this was because when I sat down to inspect the cabin, both mirrors were already set to my height. If mirrors aren't going to be checked by staff, why should a customer have to do it? If you want a customer to do it, make the check in website force your to take pictures of you touching the mirrors to show that they aren't hanging on by a thread. Now I have to waste time and submit a claim in order to not be charged $150 for damage that I didn't even cause. Why is this cost not being transferred to the precious renter? It isn't fair that I have to be troubled for something that I didn't do, and it's not my fault that the staff at this location don't check everything on the van themselves.JENNIFER M.

The young gentleman who received this vehicle, as well as the trailer i dropped off a few hours earlier, was the best! "Good help is hard to find these days" is the adage... This kid was a walking Boy Scout Manual... "Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, courteous, kind, thoughtful, blah, blah, thrifty, clean, reverent! However overwhelmed he MUST have been, being the ONLY person in charge of vehicle pickup and returns, Eddie i think his name was, was both personable and professional, and is deserving of gratuity! The truck was given to me without a license plate. The location manager Tiffany who was extremely rude refused to believe this. I checked extensively for plate in cab and did not find it. Wasn't able to use truck for intended purpose. After the fact I was told to contact roadside assistance who emailed me a plate to return the truck. The only comment would be that I'd recommend just physically walking someone through the check-in process the very first time. It can be confusing, and I had to show others what to do, too. Also, make people aware that the dollies aren't available after a certain hour, even though you can access the building as late as 10. When I returned around 5:30, whole dolly area was completely blocked off so I assume it wasn't a case of them all being used. Plus no one else was there so they couldn't all be out for use. Everything was fine until the end. I dropped off the UHAUL truck and left the key in the truck as instructed. After I left, I was called saying that because the doors were locked they would be unable to open the truck and would need to call someone out with another key to do it. She said I would be charged for this. Why tell me to leave the key in the truck, then assume I'd leave it unlocked? Why would I leave it unlocked when someone could take it and then the blame is on me and I'm left to pay for a potentially stolen or damaged truck? How do they NOT have a MASTER KEY? I should NOT be charged for this error. Give your employees a master key or a copy of them. This is retarded and not my fault at all.ANTHONY S.

Staff at the 83 Water Street facility were very helpful and friendly. On my initial visit to the facility, the manager, Tyffany Cirillo, was quite informative, more so than personnel at another U-Haul in the Greater New Haven area to which I had previously gone in search of specific details about truck and storage space tentals. When I checked in to 83 Water Street to return my 1-way rental truck, I discovered it had a serious issue. Staff person Milagros "Max" Escobar, also very friendly and helpful, was quick to get the truck problem resolved to my total satisfaction. She also guided me through the storage space rental process taking extra time to be sure I was totally familiar with everything. So, many thanks to both Tyffany and Max for their outstanding customer service and support! Every Single employee I have dealt with was exceptionally helpful. The sales office is always immaculately neat and organized. They always have what I need. Had a storage unit there (just moved out last week) for two years and never had a problem. The storage building was always clean and well-lit. I must say that I am very impressed with this U-haul storage facility. The level of security and the cleanliness of this place is impeccable. When you first walk through the door you can smell the cleanliness in the air. Wish I had rented from U-haul before the storage place I moved from. The place was dark, dingy and had a musty odor .
