The truck I rented was an absolute nightmare to drive. The alignment was SIGNIFICANTLY off. The wheel has a good two inches of movement where it would not steer the truck on center, and the whole truck would shake badly above 30 MPH. As someone who has significant experience driving a large trucks and up to 40ft trailers, this was one of the worst experiences I've had with a rental. Other than that, the truck was clean and the AC worked well.

On the 24/7 telephone numbers for customer service, have the phone calls actually answered. I was on hold for 40 minutes listening to same recording thanking me for my patience. I lost my patience and had to hang up. Also, I tried online help which sent me a message to call customer service with a telephone number. I tried the text/message support which again said call customer service. If you don’t have phone calls answered then you don’t have customer service. U-Haul should just say “When you’re not at a location, we don’t have customer service available. U-Haul does not offer reliable telephone support.”

I didnt get the number of furniture pads that I had reserved. I was told they "are running short on them" , so ended up getting just 6 instead of 12. Also, the rental agreement could not be printed because the printer wasn't working. I was told to just check my email and that I would get it in sometime. I noticed I was charged for 12 furniture pads when they gave me only 6 due to shortage.

I had dropped off the this truck [Contract #24350140] on the 29th of June 2019 in the evening and I had also called on Sunday afternoon and spoke to a nice lady about retrieving the truck and was assured of it, she even said and I quote " there is no need for you to come here, I will close out the contract and you have nothing to worry about". 3 days later I get a call asking me where the truck key is and upon explaining the situation, they finally found the key and found the van which has been parked in front of the Uhaul store all along. Next thing I know, I get charged for 3 days days rental. Not fair. Please call me at 718.288.0707 Thank you

There was not enough counter employee and I ended up waiting in the huge line for 40 min. Once we came up to the counter, the uhaul employee was very rude. I.e. she told us that if we do not return the truck on time she’ll charge us inconvenience fee. When I asked how much and to provide more details, she said “I don’t know”. I usually don’t write unfavorable review but I have not see something like this in a while. The good thing was the truck return set up. Quick and well organized.

We are a nonprofit, all-volunteer group and had two events to produce. Our work was late, more dangerous, more strenuous, more expensive, and frenzied because the 15' box truck we reserved for Long Island City was a false, fraudulent promise by U-Haul. Without warning you changed our location to Woodside without warning and then down-graded our truck to 10' without warning. The objects we were moving were 12.5'. We demand a refund.

The equipment was NOT prepared when I got there and the furniture dolly I paid for was also not in the truck. If you want to provide an efficient and fluid experience for a pre-checked-in customer the keys of trucks that are reserved should be in a separate location than the other available trucks and make certain the equipment is INSIDE the truck when the customer arrives. They couldn't find the keys to my equipment and we spent 15 minutes trying to swap me out of a truck only to final find the keys. The representative was very nice but the logistics were not good.

The pickup location was very accommodating. They made a few errors I had to call to correct, but they did correct them. The drop off location was awful, and despite my arriving 25 minutes early, charged me an extra day! I'm currently on hold attempting to rectify this. All the errors have soured me a bit on uhaul.

Wait time in the early morning was 30min due to only one person working. Still, the rental process was easy and quick thanks to the online reservation I made. At time of return, one of the servicemen was rude and overall not friendly. The assistant manager helped and provided quick and effective customer service solutions to ensure a positive outcome.

I was pretty happy with the experience. While I was waiting for the self check-in (for the truck rental) to complete the lockbox code seemed to disappear from my phone before I could get it and get the keys myself. Should have informed me that, even though I was picking truck up at 8:00am so that I could have it back within 24 hours when returning it to a different Uhaul that opened at 8:00am, the receipt and order would require me to return it at 7:00. Had I known that, I would have picked it up 7:00.

The staff can not explain estimates for rental when you call to reserve. I also reserved blankets and they were not there. The staff was overwhelmed with customers and they had no answer why there were no blankets reserved for us. The staff claims these are all company policy problems and not them. The staff was not rude but had few answers.

The drop off location was severally understaffed. The 1 staff member that was receiving the cars was very nice but was by himself with a long line of cars he had to receive by himself. It was the 1st of the month which and a Saturday. Management should have staffed more people. The poor guy was all alone with a line of at least 10 cars to take in. Extremely long wait time. Initially only one person at the desk while there were about 10 people waiting to pick up their rentals. The woman at the desk seemed more concerned about when she could go on break than moving the line along efficiently. The location overall was good, but waiting 30-45 minutes to pick up your rental is severely inconvenient, especially when you’re moving.

Fix the website to only display locations with the services I'm ordering (originally booked and planned around a location that only had vans when I ordered a 20' truck), tell customers ahead of time they need to have 4 numbers that U-Haul can call, figure out your policy around Google as a phone service provider (I was told that my phone number was not a phone number multiple times, even after the location called me and I answered right in front of them), fix your website to allow phones to upload pictures (breaks every time for both photo ID upload and damage pictures), DO NOT ALLOW YOUR EMPLOYEES TO TAKE PHOTOS OF MY ID AND UPLOAD FROM THEIR PERSONAL DEVICES (this may even be illegal?), fix your inventory system (I ordered and paid for 24 blankets, only got 12 and the location could not give me a refund), and teach basic customer service. Overall, the absolute worst experience I've had with any business in my life. I can't believe this place stays in business with this kind of abhorrent operations at literally every step of the way.

I would have happily continued to rent my unit but the last $10 increase made the $75 a month tag on a 5' by 5' space not worth it.

Truck was not at the facility for pick up. I had to spend more money to call an uber to bring me to another facility. For both moves, there was no dolly in truck after I reserved it. Bad experience.

The reason I have vacated the storage unit is because I recently moved to Brooklyn and also the recent increase to monthly rent. Cubesmart offered a lower rate than U-Haul in Brooklyn.
