When called in to book the trailer. Was told would have to have back by 8 pm the next day. And that was fine. After I got there to get the trailer and did all the paperwork. He told me I had to have back by 2 the next day as it was goin out. Told him I was told 8pm. Ended up taking it back first thing the next day and went to a different rental place to get job finished. Was not clean. Still had garbage in the trailercorey C.

I picked up the truck April 30 time was set for 11 am got there at 1045 all systems were not working so we waited till 1130 finally good to go We received the last truck available 26 foot and were told there is zero gas and they don't know if it will make it to the gas station but good luck We left and barely made it told to put in $100 in gas and bring it back at 1/4 tank and I will be credited $30 Returned the truck on May 1 waited for 35 minutes for someone to check the truck and no one came I tracked someone down they said good to go I saw my receipt I was then charged $27 on top of the $100 gas I went 12kms I luckily took a picture the take was at a 1/4 they said it was 1/8 and charged me $54 in gas I called in the mistake was then told to come in and hash it out (not cool) I did stood there for 45 minutes the new guy was struggling massive line up on a Monday he needed the manager manager came after 25 more minutes and refunded the $24 will not give me the additional $27 she owed me for gas the whole experience was not good and really unfortunate because I would in the housing industry and after all this won't recommendSonia J.

I was incredibly disappointed when I returned the truck and checked out to find out that I was charged for the mileage I was. The only reason I came to your location to rent a vehicle versus the company I normally goe to is the rental cost seemed too good to be true. After all is said and done I realized it was too good to be true. All I had to do is move two chairs from the west end to the southside and come back with it. I put $20 worth of gas in and I was charge $63 for mileage. I will never go back to your company again. Nor will I recommend it to anybody I deal with. I am a realtor in constantly and being asked who I would recommend for all kinds of different things. I was incredibly disappointed with the result after the return. Nobody at any time said I would be charged for the mileage I was.Jasen C.

We had a towing trailer installed, and while we were loading a car, the trailer flew off the hitch, almost hitting my brother and our truck. We then realized that it had not been installed properly as they didn't tighten the top screw that held the hitch ball. Thank goodness we weren't driving on the highway when it popped off. Needless to say, customers, always double/triple check their install before driving away, would hate for someone to end up in a less fortunate spot than we did!Kirsten P.

What a terrible experience. I had originally rented a 5x8 trailer. The night before our move I called and updated it to a 6x12 trailer - no problems noted. I asked specifically if there was availability and was told yes. They open at 0700. We arrived at 0810 - and were told "a note had been put on our file" by the manager. Nobody called, emailed or texted me to let me know that they did not in fact have a 6x12 trailer available. The only one available was in Sherwood Park which would have added 2 HOURS onto our day, anyone who has moved knows this is not ideal - nor was it feasible for our timeline. If someone had called me at 0700 and left that message, we likely would have been able to make that work. Instead, we were left with the only option of a 5x8 trailer, which did not fit everything and caused significant delays and further issues throughout the week as I tried to move the stuff we had to leave behind. The manager was short, abrupt, dismissive, and condescending. Blaming it on a new employee and that the 6x12 trailer at their location had been reserved prior to mine. I understand how the reservation system worked - what I needed from uhaul was BASIC communication about what they had available so I could make informed choices prior to arriving to the facility. It was absolutely awful customer service, and I would never go here again - to be honest was about to rent a storage unit through a different company I was so fed up with U-Haul. She also promised me a $50 discount via my email WHICH HAS NOT SHOWN UP YET. I will be calling to make a more formal complaint about our experience here.steve W.

The debit/credit machines are horrible, they wouldn't process payment. Went back and forth between 2 machines and wasted 15 minutes just trying to get my payment to hrt through. The workers said the issues is ongoing. Company needs to spend the money to upgrade and now hold up the lines for everyone. If there was multiple people in front of me, that could be a wasted additional hour of messing around with payment machines.Lyle W.

First, I was charged a $150 deposit and told the reason was I was paying with debit (something I had never experienced in previous Uhaul rentals while paying debit). I was then told I would have to return to that location (Winterburn) in order to get the deposit back. When I pointed out it was a one-way trip to a town 4.5 hours away, I was told they would contact their manager and possibly mail out a cheque. I rented a 20' foot truck that day, then returned the next day to pick up the auto trailer. While the rental process was fine, I was offered no help or instruction as to how to safely load my car (which I did in the parking lot of the location), nor was I offered any help or visual aid while loading my car onto the trailer (I was therr by myself at that time). My background in construction meant I knew how to load and secure my vehicle on the trailer, but there was certainly no way for the employee to know that. My car sits low to the ground, and the wheelwell of the trailer was too high for me to open my driver side door meaning I had to crawl out the window. Again, this was all happening in the parking lot of the location with any employee certainly able to see what eas going on if they were paying any kind of attention. Once I got to the return location in Grande Prairie, AB and attempted to unload my car from the auto trailer, I discovered that the front vertical edge of the trailer was too high for my front bumper and it got stuck up underneath between the tire and inner bumper edge. I was unable to get car off the trailer without tearing off the rubber underguard of my front bumper since I was only with my girlfriend (who was unable to do much to help), and the location of my drop off was closed. After about a week, I called the Winterburn location to find out if anyone had sorted out the issue with my deposit, and I was told that I could simply go to the drop off location and get my deposit back any time, which I did, but that meant I had unnecessarily waited for that week due to errant information at the time of rental. I was overall very dissatisfied with virtually the entire rental process, and the worst Uhaul rental experience ai've ever had. I will certainly let anyone I know to avoid the Winterburn location if at all possible. I would highly recommend having someone look into how employees are being trained at that location and ensure that customers are informed correctly, and offered assistance if necessary.Chuck M.

Was happy with my experience up until the last two months. I had purchased a year rental package and was due to move out in March of 2022. I started to receive emails in Jan that I had a payment due. I had already prepaid so I didn't pay much attention. They I started to get "Pre-Lein" letters and every 2 weeks, penalty charges were added to my file. I called multiple staff who said they would clear it up for me. It didn't happen as I kept getting notified. I finally spoke to the female manager there and she said to ignore those and it would be cleared up. I went this weekend to get my stuff and my code didn't work anymore AND there was a double lock on my unit and my account was still deliquent!!?? What a frustrating ending to my experience with this location. I won't be doing business with them again nor would I recommend them. This facility only does walkabouts every two days. My storage unit was broken into and everything I had was stolen. Over $7500 stolen and Uhaul did nothing. They refused to offer me any consolation or any reimbursement. All they offered was two months free rental. This is the worst facility ever with absolutely the worst customer service. Arrived as instructed to find the gate inaccessible. Was eventually informed after 30 mins of wasted time that the gate was frozen and no one was sure when it would be fixed. After waiting another 20 mins to see if the issue could be resolved I went home and resorted to calling every half hour or so to see if I could move in. After about 2 hours the problem was resolved. It had 3 inches of ice from door to door in the spring. The door was falling off the track for 3 years and never fixed. Security is a joke with numerous break-ins including an attempted theft of my cargo trailer. I was told the security cameras don't cover that area. Experience was generally good, but there were a few hiccups: - my storage unit was not cleaned out from the previous tenant and I had to move a lot of stuff outside of the unit (including rotting food) and clean the floor (with what I could find in the previous tenants stuff) before moving my stuff in. - I couldn't get a hold of the office staff to tell them about the above; they put me on a long hold. I did tell them about it later, however when I came in for another thing. - I had a hard time finding the exit/sign out kiosk the first timenI was there and had to search for it for about 10 minutes. It happened in the early morning on a Saturday and they called us to let us know that it's been ransacked at around 6pm. You guys should invest in good lighting, wireless cameras (yes! I was asked how long the stay would be, I said 4 months, and they noted it down. I later discovered I had been charged for a 5th month despite having been moved out for a full month, and when I called in they told me that when they asked that, it was just a question and they didn't actually do anything with the information, and that I will keep being charged until I notify them I'm out. There are some great staff there that help you in the best way they can, then there are some other ones who are clearly overworked and not impressed to be there and it shows with their ability to provide even acceptable customer service. Paid for 24 hour access and on multiple occasions was unable to get in to my unit l, and the phone call into the store was unsuccessful just to be told "well it should work". I had to go into the office a few days later before I could gain access to my unit. Trying to phone in to speak with anyone is next to impossible and on a few different occasions I waited on hold for 45 mins to be told to hold again, and if you have have issue when you get to the counter when you go into the store expect to get a snarl if it's not one of the guys that are working. I would absolutely not recommend storage solutions from this uhaul facility!! Tried to move in on move in date. Storage unit was locked. And they didn't give me the proper access code for the gate so I couldn't move in since no one was at the facility. I had to wait till the next day. Also the free lock wasn't in the unit. Had to stand in line for 2 hours just to see a staff member for the lock. The one staff memeber kept leaving the the till to go somewhere else. Finally the manager came back with one other employee and the line moved quicker. The manager at the store was also 10 minutes late while there was a line forming at the front door so the store wasn't even open until 9:15. I was done moving in at 9:30 but since I didn't have my lock I didn't leave until 11:00. Worst experience I've ever had and all they offered me was a free one month 24 hour service. I was going to Rate this place above average and say the staff were very helpful and friendly until I checked out. I had to wait at least 20 minutes before anyone came in to help because the only 2 employees I noticed were outside helping other customers. When one did come in to serve the growing lineup asked me want I wanted and I said " I'd like to check out". Went through the usual locker number and name. Then she asked if it was clean, I said yes then she promptly said" well if I go out there and it isn't clean I'll be checking you right back in". I said I swept it out I also wanted to say it is cleaner now then when I moved in because it wasn't swept out previously. Figured it was better not to aggravate her. My google review: Terrible experience at this U-Haul. I rented an outdoor storage space for my camper and the employee had no idea how to operate their system. It took him 4 attempts and 45 minutes just to reserve my spot, even though I had reserved online, and called ahead before I arrived. I was told conflicting information, one person said I needed a lock, another said I didn't, the employee reserved me a slot that apparently didn't exist. It was no surprise when I went to drop my camper off for the first time, my swipe card didn't work, and of course it was after hours. The security for the outdoor storage is terrible (anyone could jump the fence), and it is more of a storage dump for garbage than for campers. I reserved a storage space a week ago and went to move in. The staff were very helpful and when i went to put some stuff in the unit it had 2 other locks on it advising another renter they had not paid their bill. These notices were on another 9 units just on the way to the elevator. So i was rented a unit that wasnt even available. Upon going and advising the staff they let me know thay didnt have anything else available. She said she would call and let me know before they closed after her walk around. I didnt receive a call and had to empty my car load back into the house. So now im looking at alternatives to uhaul as they are not reliable. The office is well laid out and clean and tidy. All around the newer part is clean. When we went to look at the drive up storage unit the weatherstrip along the bottom of the door was missing and the unit hadn't been swept out. That was on a sunday, tuesday was there to unload and the weatherstrip hadn't been installed nor had the floor been swept. The storage container is dirty, full of ice and water. I was given another shed... only it belonged to someone else. Was given another unit, it was clearly too small. Ended up taking the dirty shed and laid boards down so my belongings don't get damaged. I had UHaul labour on site and I had to pay them for waiting around. I had no where to put my dust. I asked for the garbage and was immediately told I would be charged if I want to dump garbage. I explained no it just dust and dirt and some broken glass. I moved my precious items, my life into this facility where the staff seemed sane and professional but turned around and evicted implying I slept in my unit which was absurd and absolutely not the case. I had my uhaul booked to remove my things next day the manager Johnathan said I wouldn't return the truck when I've always returned the trucks on time paid in full cleaner then I rented it and no reason to imply I slept in my unit as I came and went once a day he was 100% just bullying me because I dressed different and or being native he just outright didn't like me. I had to leave all my items outside for the night as I hadn't planned another truck being denied for no reason by this jerk Johnathan. I lost everything, they stole nearly everything. I'll never forget that. Karma will pay it's due to these scumbags at winter burn uhaul one by one the greasy fat losers will suffer a great loss then spend eternal in loneliness like I felt that cold day. There was camera's and a security gate, but I didn't have a light in my unit the whole time which I did mention. I also had a hard time getting through when I called the majority of the time. Besides that staff was helpful and friendly. I had another storage unit I let my daughter use but then didn't have access to make arrangements on afterwards so it cost me an extra $260.00 after she had moved out which I didn't appreciate. I've been a long time customer spending at least $5000.00 with Uhaul over the years. I also had mice in my unit which went though some of my stuff and not done unpacking it all so not sure all the damage it caused yet.
