UHaul customer service caused a lot of confusion. First, they called to tell me that the pick-up location was not specified (although it was in my confirmation information. Then, they called me me the night before my pickup saying the trailer I rented had to be taken out of service. Then I had to ask if they had a replacement that was the same size. They did, so what was the purpose of the call? It was unnecessary and left me with the impression that customer service did not know what they were doing. This is no reflection on my local pickup location.Mark P.

Probably the easiest and most positive U-Haul experience I have ever had. It was quick. The people were responsive and planful. They reached out to us ahead of time when a piece of equipment wasn't available and offered it to us at the same price. Previously (at other facilities) we would arrive and we were charged for equipment they didn't have even though it was pre-ordered...leaving us in a lurch. We have arrived at U hauls and they didn't have our truck, but we were charged. I appreciate this facility and will return here for sure.Kimberly M.

This transaction was made very difficult by UHaul corporate and their procedures for scheduling equipment. My local vendor had the trailer I needed, but UHaul would not rent it because "it's part of a different fleet". (1 way vs. local rental). I had to cancel my reservation and create a new one at a different location. I was told that if the closer location had not rented the trailer I needed the day before I needed it, they would change my reservation and schedule the original trailer. The day before my rental, I was informed that my reservation was sent to a Corporate UHaul store because the 2nd trailer wasn't available. I was told that I could not rent the original trailer. The next day, I arrived at the Corporate location (which is an extra 20 miles away in another town), and they did not have a local rental trailer available and had to rent a trailer from the 1-way fleet. The manager at that location took my card for incidentals, but ended up renting the trailer to me for free after reviewing all of the notes and issues with my rental. All of the UHaul offices were very helpful, but put under unnecessary stress because of UHaul's policy on 1-way vs. local rentals. The location I wanted to rent from is just over a mile from where I needed the rental. The second location is just over 8 miles. The Corporate location is just over 20 miles. This whole scenario could have been avoided, but instead cost me extra gas, and several hours of drive, phone and counter time to rent from your company.Jason R.

I did the online check in thinking it would save time when I arrived, but they asked me to go through the same questions once I arrived and I had to pay again, despite having the credit card loaded from the online checking. I was double booked on a truck and check in time changed. When I called to see why they said a truck went down. I volunteered to driver to a further location so myself and the other person renting would not be impacted as long as the additional miles were taken care of and was told they would be. The miles were not taken care of and the store was not assisting, they dropped the mileage rate but that didn't even come close to covering it my lost $. No solutions, person I was dealing with was nice but didn't know what to do with this issue, manager didn't seem like she cared to help, and I should be greatful for what she was able to do. Ultimately At the end they lied to me. Some number they called told him to process the payment and they would fix on their side to get ride or me, which they did not. Truck was also dusty on outside and in the box. Cab area was good.STEVEN L.

U-Haul corporate computer system went down while I was there. Took a long time to get hitched up and on the road because of U-Haul corporate system failure. The staff were kind and apologetic, but it was out of their control to fix.Benjamin M.

This was my third location , in one day, to pick up. First of all I had made a reservation for a 6X12 trailer. They had all of my car info. When I went to hook up, my car was no able to pull, as it was too small. The computer said it was able to pull. Then I was sent to another Uhaul facility to get a 10' truck and dolly, but my car is a Subaru, and can't be pulled by a dolly, even though dispatch had all my car info and sent me to this location. I then went to a third location and got a 15' truck and dispatch had reserved a dolly again, but I can't use a dolly! I had to drive to another location the next day, 30 minutes away, to get a car transport and they had trouble with the reservation!!!! Finally got the car transport connected and had to drive back to get my car. The young man at the Edgewood store was very nice and helpful!!! This was a messed up day!!! It added to the stress of moving!!!!Julia V.

The local U-Haul locations are great, the national level makes renting a truck difficult and needlessly frustrating. I had to reserve and confirm at two separate locations only to end up at a third location. The first reservation was made in person and I was not informed about the 30+ mile change for two days. Better communication between the national and lical levels would be a huge improvement.aaron T.

Took almost 45 min past my reservation time due to damaged trucks and issues with them. They will not return emails or messages. They will not honor the â€œ$50 reservation guaranteeâ€ or address the multiple safety violation issues with the truck. 1st truck assigned to me was so badly damaged on the driver's door and fender you cannot open it without the door springing back and hitting you. The door seam and fender are crushed so opening the door causes the fender to be shoved in. This adds a spring tension so as soon as you let go of the door, it swings at you shutting. I refused this truck for the condition it is in. The 2nd truck didn't have all the damages marked with the X, and there was a black box and wires resting on the brake pedal. How are you supposed to drive with wires hanging down in the way of the pedals and a box the size of your hand laying on the brake pedal? I had to have them tape it up under the dash out of the way of the brake pedal to even be able to drive it. Because of the issues I was now 45 min behind schedule. This 2nd truck should have been returned and a 3rd one issued. The drivers mirror could not be adjusted. The employee even tried and could not get it to move. So I was looking back at the driver's door and box corner. I could not see down the side of the truck or traffic so I was blind. I only have the very small spot mirror to use as a review mirror. The steering was junk. It swerved back and forth, left to right, every 20 feet. You had to keep moving the wheel to try and keep it in its lane. At highway speed you were having to move the wheel a good 5-7 inches back and forth every few seconds and you still would go into the shoulder and into other lanes. The engine power was almost nothing. Getting onto the highway I could not even reach the min speed by the time I had to merge. With the mirror issue, steering issues, and lack of power I almost got hit by a semi as I was merging. Using a small 4â€ mirror and trying to focus on a parabolic mirror and fighting the steering and trying to get up to speed resulted in a semi forcing me completely onto the shoulder. If I would not have taken the shoulder I would have collided with the semi. Later after loading items I was over heated and turned on the AC. The AC didn't work. It would only run about 2 mins and shut off. So I had to drive out of my way to a gas station to cool off. This added miles and fuel usage. The odometer was also not correct when I left Uhaul. I took a pic and could not get the upload link to work. Maybe it was because of getting multiple links from changing trucks. I informed the employees at the time of return. They didn't care about any of the issues. I was told a manager â€œmight or might not call youâ€. Really? After saftey issues and other issues and you can't be bothered? I emailed Uhaul and still have not got a response. The truck should not be on the roadway. I am looking into who (DOT or whoever) to report the trucks conditions to have them pulled off the roadway until they are fixed. This uhaul place will get someone killed. To use the mirror you have to have you chest touching the steering wheel leaning forward all the way so you head is over the wheel. So the few times I tried that, while driving and having to fight the steering wheel, I sprained my lower back. This location could not care any less. So if you want broken down trucks that are not safe to drive and don't even have working mirrors, go to this location. Bring along you duct tape to tape things hanging down in the way of the pedals as well. If you don't care about uncontrolled swerving out of your lane every 20 feet, go with their trucks.mike L.

The check engine light came on a few hours into our trip and we stopped at an AutoZone to have a diagnostic run (P0335 ignition coil E random misfire detected). We called U-Haul roadside assistance to let them know. The check engine light then went off the rest of day 1 and all of day 2. On day 3, it came back on and was still on when we returned the truck. One of the cup holders was broken, but other than that it was a good trip. We got what we needed to get where it needed to go.Julie Q.

I reserved a small utility trailer. That was easy, but then the cart is auto filled with blankets, boxes, and moving supplies that you must decline over and over. Finally, you enter the credit card information and complete the reservation. However, when I arrived at the pickup location, I had to answer the same questions and provide my credit card again. Your customer service had us on the phone for 1 hour and 45 minutes without a resolution. We tried to drop off the vehicle and the app would not work as the contract was under my father's name but I had checked it out as the driver with my phone and credit card. Three different agents could not help us and we were on hold over 1 1/2 hours. Totally frustrated, my wife and I finally decided to drop off and work on the checkout issues later. It wasn't until we got at the location that we had the better url for checking as the driver. At that point it when well. It would be better to have the correct url stated in the IVR, written on the contract and in the app. All those indicated and focus on the contract person and not the driver. If it had, we could have dropped it off several hours earlier. We may have even gotten there by closing.... but it would have been super close. Customer service after hours would rate 0 stars. Tried to do the self service pickup, but the extra products including moving blankets and moving dolly were not provided. Required that I go back inside and wait in the line to ask for help, ended up adding another half hour to the pick up process to get the additional gear. After that was provided the young man that provided the equipment required us to go back inside again so they could confirm our credit card went through even though it was already approved in the app. The reason was they've had computer issues. Didn't appreciate having to go back into the facility twice for those reasons and when it should have been a straight forward self pick up process via the app.Jeff C.

Steering wheel was very dirty. My hands were black after driving a couple of miles. There were oil stains and dirt on all the frequently touched surfaces which was not easily detected in the precheck. The exterior of the truck was covered in mud and dirt, hiding any possible damage before taking possession. At the service desk, they were understaffed and the clerk was trying to help 3 customers at the same time and was unable to successfully attend to anyone with acceptable customer service. Finally, everyone was dragging their feet and had no answer of urgency whatsoever to help customers.Thomas L.

Unit was not accessible, door latch was jammed. Unable to unload my truck and was told the only person who can fix the door is at lunch and would have it fixed in the next hour. Came back two hours later and still no access. The clerk said everyone was busy and not able to fix the door, even though the general manager and three uniformed employees were out by the main entrance smoking the entire time. Makes absolutely NO sense, this was not a result of a lack of employees but a result of laziness. Clean the drive-in area. It does not look like it has been cleaned in the four months I have rented a Storage unit. Have the woman that participated in my return of the U-Haul train the other employees. Tell the dark-haired girl with glasses then it is inappropriate to play on her phone while trying to assist a customer and it is very unlikely that people will shop there if she continues to have attitude on the phone for no reason. The isles to the units need to be maintained and not just have a wet floor sign over a jagged piece of metal sticking out of the wall.jake K.

Please fix the absolutely useless app and website, don't close your doors a half hour prior to close, and have employees leave or go somewhere other than behind the counter when they are off the clock. We wasted hours trying to use the website, and then the app, and neither would work. We went inside for the equipment return with a woman behind the counter who did not greet us at all and when we went up to her at the counter, simply told us she was off the clock and there was nothing she could do for us. She locked the location doors while we were inside, about a half hour before they were actually supposed to close. If she hadn't been directly behind the counter we wouldn't have been so frustrated... We then waited 20 minutes for a man to come inside, ask us what we needed, and take our keys and complete the return. We wasted an insane amount of time for a return that took about 45 seconds once someone actually got to helping us. We are never planning to use uhaul again after this experience.Claire J.

We rented a 10' truck for our school's show choir, to transport costumes and items for a show choir competition over the weekend. When the Director picked up the truck (at a different location than where I reserved it because they supposedly did not have a truck available) the person at the counter took 20 minutes to figure out our sales tax exemption-which should have already been on file since we rented the week before, there was NO GAS in the truck, NO windshield wiper fluid (the Director had to stop at a gas station to purchase some) and the entire cab smelled of marijuana! Even our parent volunteer noticed the smell when they were loading the truck. This is UNACCEPTABLE especially for a school that is renting and transporting clothing!! We will not be using this location again.David G.

All staff have been so friendly and helpful. When I couldn't figure out how to get in with card, they took time to go with me and showed me how. Yesterday they helped me find an additional unit right across from original. When I went to switch stuff around, the staff cleaning units were friendly. Unit was locked when we arrived even after 4 phone calls and sending someone to obtain the unit. Arrived after hours unit locked. Called in the am assured by Drew it was now unlocked and available. Arrived 45 minutes later it was still locked! Talked to go she said people make mistakes i agree but Drew blatantly lied. Liked U-Haul offers climate control and that the units are alarmed. Nice to see carts available to move items into you storage unit. There was plenty of room to back up a truck and trailer into loading area. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only issues I noticed was a truck parked in the loading area for a long period of time that was not actively moving items to and from a unit. I believe this to be a loading area and not a parking garage. The center overhead door was not working to loading area. The restroom facility I used had one toilet that would not flush and there was no soap in the dispenser. Those 3 minor things I mentioned did not affect my decision for my rating. I wanted to see my storage room, and unload distance so the young lady sent me around the building to the second floor without a code to get in, so back to the counter. Then another young lady decided to help me, and took me thru the building and showed me my unit, not convenient. So she pick another one, sent me around the building to unload, and the doors was locked I couldn't get in. She said oh she forgot she would be there in a few minutes.After almost 2 hours there I just cancel my order and left.. I called the facility with a question and the person I spoke with was rather rude and unhelpful, even right off the bat upon answering the phone. After arguing with me for several minutes, the employee was able to solve the issue I had called about in 10 seconds which made the rest of the call feel like a waste of time. The unit that was made available for me was very dirty and chalky on the ground. It looked like cement dust or flour and it was everywhere. It took over half an hour to get set up, despite already having a reservation. (That's half an hour at the counter, not in line - I wouldn't blame a long line on employees.) Staff took an extremely long time to enter my information, and in some cases I had to spell my name or street address up to four times. For example, when I gave them the name "Margie" and spelled it for them, they spelled it "marde". I then respelled it, and they spelled it "marde" again. I had to spell it twice more before they spelled it correctly. Staff failed to apply my month of free storage from my reservation, and I had to point it out and then they had to back up and do it again. Staff told me I was using the same phone number twice, when I was in fact using two different phone numbers that simply had some digits in common - I have no idea why they couldn't tell two different phone numbers apart, but I had to argue with them for over a minute before they would acknowledge that two distinct phone numbers were not in fact the same phone number. Staff assigned me to the unit in the furthest back of the facility, even though there appeared to be plenty of units available closer to the loading area. (This one could be on the system, or maybe none of those units were the right size. I would normally give them the benefit of the doubt here, were it not for everything else that went wrong.) Staff did not explain the layout of the facility, and pointed me towards the wrong loading area. Staff did not explain how the alarm system worked, or where I was supposed to swipe my access card. I had to provide two street addresses and three phone numbers, and the staff would not explain why. Overall this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any business, and if anyone I know ever needs storage I will be strongly recommending that they go anywhere but here.Gabriel L. | First Impressions

This facility "lost" my reservation when I arrived, a reservation that I made 3 months in advance. The reason for losing it was that other customers bought them up - that means that a reservation doesn't mean anything at UHUAL. very little help when I had a question or request, most of the conversations ended with statements like "I don't know". I move very frequently and I constantly have issues with UHUAL, but this facility, their staff, and their lack of responsibility over my possessions has pushed me to NEVER use UHUAL again.
