I have rented equipment plenty of times before this but never from Uhaul and will say that I've never had a better rental experience! This was a seamless and quick deal. Everyone I met, handled my rental with ease and had me on my way very quickly. My return of the trailer was just as professional! Richmond VA uhaul rocks indeed. The process was good and the van well maintained. When I returned the van to the site, it was a hybrid between app and in person that was a little confusing. Signage directing the returning customer to one method or another would have been helpful. A small thing in the overall process.

6x12 did not have a tongue stand to take the trailer off my hitch. The tongue on this trailer is very heavy. I could not disconnect the trailer from my truck without help from a neighbor with a hydro license jack. I realize muscular guys work with these everyday. I am a 63 year old woman and I could not do this. Something to think about.

Your mobile device pickup and return is ridiculously overcomplicated. It does not save time. Rental car companies are actually one step, learn something from them. No need to upload a zillion pictures and allow the app to know your location.

The staff is beyond rude and unhelpful. I booked a truck for my move, and was transferred to multiple locations AFTER already booking. Upon trying to pick up the truck the online process involved stated that the driver needed to call in to the center to complete the process. I called several times with no answer. I went inside and waited in line for several minutes to speak to someone. By the time I reached the front of the line I was told that there was not a truck, even though on the online portion it gave us a truck number which we already located in the lot. All said and done, I let all of that go to begin moving. Due to being moved to different locations, the drop off time also changed from 6pm to 3pm. I called around 2 and spoke with someone. They told me that it wouldn't be a problem as long as I dropped it off before 5. The truck was filled with gas and dropped off by 445pm. Later checking my bank account I was charged two times by Uhaul. I called back the next business day (11/2) and spoke with Nicole. Nicole was rude and said there was Nothing they could do. This was after already speaking with someone else and them stating that there were no notes of us calling and talking to someone so it was probably customer service and not them who told us we could drop it off before five. When telling her that we called the same number she stated that if they don't answer the phone it goes to customer service and we could be speaking with someone from “Arizona”. Horrible experience and even worse customer service.

The issues were not with the location. All of the issues were with U-Haul itself. From the reservation, to the price, to the truck size, NOTHING was handled correctly and we were the ones to suffer for it. We were not compensated in any way.

Reserved online and checked in online only to have the truck I was assigned given to someone else. Wasted almost an hour trying to fix and get another truck. Long lines at the counter. Tried to charge me extra mileage (based on the first truck) on my return.

Only have a comment on the equiopment. For safety reasons highly recommend installing cruse control and remote operated mirrors. I continuously found myself driving over 70mph. The mirrors were adjustable and they were a little loose. Several times the mirrors went out of adjustment. Remote adjusted mirrors would be safer.

This is a large facility. There are signs that show you where to drop your truck off when you are returning. You pull it into a queue to be washed. I wasn't sure what to do next so I walked up to the building and a woman came out and told me I could just leave the keys in the truck and be on my way. I rolled the window down just incase the door locks engaged so I hoped that they would check it in before it started raining. Dropping it off was easy, but it would have been nice if they gave you some sort of receipt, or documentation saying they acknowledge you dropped it off so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I ended up taking a few pictures of it at the facility as proof. But I did get a receipt the following morning saying it was checked in (about an hour and a half after I actually dropped it off) so I was happy to see that.

I had ordered an appliance dolly when I placed the order for the 26' truck. I placed the order at this location on Parham Road. When I went to the location, Montro, the agent told me that the appliance dolly was NOT there. They had given it away to another customer. He offered a utility dolly, which would not work for a washer and dryer that I needed moved. At first, Montro said that I could call other locations - he didn't offer to call. I asked if he could check other locations because I ordered it. He said he would have to wait on the other customers first - though there was another worker there. He waited on 3 customers before calling. He found one at Broad Street location. He told me I would have to go get it. He didn't offer to remove mileage from truck to go pick it up since it would not fit in my car. We had to return to the location the next day to pick it up after they got it from the Broad Street location. This was done after the requirement of calling the supervisor, Nicole Johnson, who authorized them to pick it up for them to get it. They charged us the $10 as an extra rental - though this added extra time, anxiety, and work on our part that we should not have had to deal with. Note: I had rented movers through UHaul Moving Help to unload and load. While I was there, I called them, but only the loaders had an appliance dolly not the unloaded. I had asked Montro to go pick it up from the Broad Street location. HE DIDNT OFFER - I HAD TO ASK!!!! At first, both movers said they had an appliance dolly, but after we checked out, the unloaded said they didn't have one. I called back at 7:30 p.m. and told Montro. He was very indignant so my son talked to him. We asked that it be picked up and available the next day at 10 am and we would pick it up. Montro said he wouldn't do it - that it would be a separate order so we would have to get it - that it was our fault. My son insisted that if UHaul had done their job, we wouldn't have had to try to find one on our own. Montro gave my son his supervisor phone number. When my son called Nicole Johnson, she said she would have the dolly at the location at 10 am for us to pick it up. My son returned on Oct 17 at 10 am and picked it up. It was truly a very bad experience when UHaul should have done their job to have the appliance dolly at their location. I have used UHAUL for several moves, most recent in March. This was the WORST experience ever - all because they did not look at their orders the day before to ensure they had everything ready as promised and ordered for customers who had pre ordered equipment!!! The two sets of blankets were there, but one package was opened as if it had been used, but it was fine. Upon return of the equipment, Nicole checked us out. She thanked us for folding the blankets back. We had estimated 13 miles of travel. We had traveled 13.2 miles and charged accordingly. Never once was there any offer to grant any money off due to the inconvenience of UHAUL not doing their job. Such as waiving the .2 miles. NOTE: They wrote down .2 miles on paperwork, but my son checked it and came back to say it was .3 miles before Montro was done checking me out. Montro said he would change it in the system, but he didn't. Nicole still had it as .1 more.....which we were charged! My two sons plan to move in January 2021 and use UHaul. I hope it isn't a terrible experience again.

The lock hasp did not line up, had to repair for the lock to work. The door hinges were mounted to the outside making it easy to break into the box. The boxes were too small to fit some of the furniture, like the couch. The pick up and delivery person was great !

Even though the plan was to bring the truck back to the original location, the email link said I was supposed to return it back to another location. They got that corrected after I called. The truck ran great, but one of the backup lights is not working, and sometimes the high beam lights didn't work. FYI

The only issue I had was the unit I originally was assigned had a support column in it taking up a decent amount of space so I had to go back up front and get a different unit. I was at the location twice that day and dealt with 3 different employees and they were all very courteous and helpful. I just think you should know which units have those in them and let people know and or discount them as space is obviously important when renting a storage unit.

Cynthia, we need your help. Everyone is very nice but we have a nightmare unit. First, we wanted and rented. 10x7 but when we went to it it was a 5x5 with a beam in the middle. Then we got a 10x 8 because that was the best they had. In any event, when I went later in the week for the first time the latch was not working. Christian, who was alone helped me and even he had to work at it. Great young man by the way. It still is not working properly. Unit 1566. Reed whitener cell 804-240 1541

I had made reservations online to store my boat. I moved my boat on a Sunday. Very busy with people in the store and calling in constantly. Need more people working on the weekends. It took a few tries get the access code working in the system. It would have been quicker and less stressful for everyone if I could have done this online.

The actual facility was great...everyone was helpful and nice..my only issues was with the company as a whole... I found out 2 days after my monthly payment was deducted from my bank account that I was approved for a house and that I could move in that weekend. When I contacted uhaul about a possible refund since I wouldnt be needing the unit for that month I was told no they dont issue refunds and they just suggest you dont move out til right before you payment is due. Had I known I would be approved that quickly I would have moved my stuff out early. So I was out almost $100 for that. Then when I put in my move out request on the day I moved out (may 31) everything was good to go as I was told..but then today (june 28) I checked my account and they had deducted another $100 now I have to wait 3-5 days to have that money refunded to me.

I found dead bugs in my storage unit along with little almost Roach like bugs crawling on some stuff. Not to mention having to move stuff from in front of my unit a few times that someone had placed in front of it. Overall just wasn't happy finding bugs so I took my stuff out because I'm not paying for pest.

I've patronized this U-haul location several times to rent trailers, trucks, etc. over the last several years. This time, I needed parking/storage for a trailer and they had just the solution I needed. Time from my first phone call inquiry to actually parking my trailer behind the secured gate took about 1 hour and I'm very happy with the results. Good operation here!

I would have preferred getting my 2nd storage space close to my first so that I could separate my items to pull out first. It is basically too far apart which makes it very difficult to accomplish.
