The four star vs five star would only be because U guys had some issues with the card reader. Also a better check on my 6X12 trailer as it had 1 tire that was nearly bald ( I traveled 1400 miles so a little on edge about that ) Part of that was my fault but we as movers are so scattered sometimes, so a better check on U would have been great!!!Brian S. | Overall Experience
Only concern was the always overflowing drop-off/leave behind (read garbage) bin inside the facility. Other customers obviously decided they needed to get rid of lots of stuff, but it was not properly removed from there. I have had difficulty with uhaul for the past week I reserved a ground level unit and the confirmation email said I was on the second floor. I called to upgrade to the available ground floor 10x15 to find out that was not set. I called in to make sure I was a ground floor 10x10x10 when I got there for my reservation it was assigned a 10x10x7 and only one working employee without access or knowledge of the storage units there was no compensation for all of the inconvenience I was put through especially since I was paying movers to help by the hour they were on the clock for half an hour before we even got to start unloading I was also given a unit that had a lockout tag saying the previous tenet no longer had access to due to failure of paymentDevin D. | First Impressions

I've rented from Justin four times now over the past three years. The trucks are clean, pickup is easy and they are fast and friendly upon return. I highly recommend U-Haul at the Waukee location off Hickman Road!GALE H.
After dropping off trailer Saturday before my reservation was up at the waukee location where I was told to drop it off, personnel told me to not worry about going inside because he had it covered (which I mistakenly believed). Then today I get text about how I never returned trailer as well as my alternative contact getting a call stating the same about un-returned trailer. Called to talk to someone and customer service was rude. Got it all figured out just hope your personnel can pull it together before someone else gets accused of stolen trailer.Bryce O.

I was very disappointed in the final bill for this rental. I was not told that I would be charged for refueling the vehicle. And especially not at a rate at lest 25% over local prices. The vehicle was only half full at the time of the rental to boot. It's a shame that a 19.99 pickup rental comes out to be over $95.Charles B.
Friendly, prompt, courteous service. They helped me select the proper equipment, found the appropriate hitch and ball to use and got me all set up. Just as I expected, but we all know nowadays you don't often get the good we expect. I did at UHAUL! Towed the trailer 1800 miles without any issue. If a motorcycle trailer isn't long or wide enough and the chains on the tailgate are too short for the customer and the customer needing a wider and a longer trailer, it would have been more convenient to have been referred to the Waukee address as opposed to the trailers availability in Ames, IA 45 miles away. Your reservation service should be in contact with the most convenient U-Haul location. Ultimately, the rental was successful and Justin was helpful.SCOTT L.

For the most part my experience was very good, but when it came time to go into the office or try to talk to someone in the office, there weren't enough people to help. The wait times were horrible. Justin the manager shouldn't be working for U-Haul. He doesn't train good employees and leaves then unattended for days on end. Leaving customers stranded even they need assistance with storage. This location has tons of storage. The store manager, Justin. Even texted my personal phone number and harassed me after trying to get my unit checked out. I'll never use U-Haul again. I waited in my equipment per the site's drop off instructions during business hours. After 20 minutes, I called the facility....no answer. I walked in to the facility....no one was there. This is a huge Uhaul facility I might add. I walked to some of the adjoining areas (custom hitch installation)....no one. I was finally able to track someone down. She apologized and informed me she was the only one there. My truck check in took 30 seconds and I was on my way. Do better Uhaul.Trey W.

I have a few general suggestions for UHaul, not specific to this location but to quality of rental experience. Mine was a very far move, from a mileage perspective, and it would have helped a great deal to have cruise control (1) in the truck. I'm not sure what the (2) cleaning process is for the packing blankets between rentals. A couple of the ones that I received had pet hair all over them. Consequently I have ended up with pet hair on some of my belongings and I'm (unfortunately!) allergic to cats and dogs. Finally, when I spent the night in Erie, PA, I had just filled the truck up with gas. When I got in the next morning the indicator was exactly on half a tank. The needle had been just a sliver under full when I parked. That was a loss of about $48 of gas that someone siphoned during the night. That wouldn't have been possible if access to the gas tank were covered and protected.Lori C.

The employee hit the mirror on my personal truck while he was moving a rental for another customer. When I confronted him he never even apologized. The situation just escalated and his final reply was â€œjust get your punk ass out of hereâ€ I told him I would contact his boss and he said his car was parked in the boss parking spot.Jimmy F.
The Waukee Storage facility was very friendly. Everyone understood I had previously attempted a move that failed because the 3rd party movers never showed up. Of course this was disappointing since I had to drive 4 hrs from Minneapolis, MN. It was great that for my second move it was possible to load the pods in the U-haul storage facility parking lot. Upon my returned within the one day (24hr) period the store was lacking a manager and personnel to attend the public. Upon arrival of one employee I delivered the truck keys within the 24 hrs period and I just received the receipt two days later charging me for two days rental. This is not acceptable nor fair from a major corporation. Request to credit my receipt by one day rental.Alexander C.
The worst experience at uhaul I have ever had. They left a newbie up front who didn't know anything, and laughed when I told him my movers were there waiting and getting paid by the hour. The newbie told us the GM must not be onsite, so we couldn't get anyone to help us. I want y'all to refund my movers, train your new hires, and figure out a system for not keeping dozens of customers waiting with no solutions. I worked with Austin at the local facility. He was fabulous with really great customer service skills. He helped me switch from a smaller unit to larger one. Found a perfect fit for what I needed. Here is a copy of the email I sent while waiting to get my storage unit issue handled. The store in Waukee IA is 0 for 2. First I was charged an extra day on my truck rental. I requested a refund but have not received it yet. Then I rented a storage unit and when I went to use it, the unit had a customer lock and a delinquency lock on it. I waited for more than 30 minutes before I was able to get help. It was after hours but that is not my fault. The guy that was helping sighed the entire time. Again, not my fault. I have been to this uHaul location a couple of times to rent moving trucks. This is the first time I've gone there to rent a storage unit. The staff were really helpful. It took a while to get my unit, but the first person who helped me credited me with one month free for the inconvenience, which I really appreciated. My key card didn't work when I tried it, but someone else helped me change the key card to one that did, and he tested it out before he gave it to me, which was great. Then, when I returned to put things in my unit today, the same person who helped me with my card saw that I was having trouble getting into the loading garage, and he ran over immediately to open the garage door for me. I'm sure it was my own error and I'm grateful for his courtesy going above and beyond to assist me!
