I was however irritated when I missed a payment by ONE day due to my debit card getting stopped due to fraudulent activity and I got charged $15 for a late fee. U-Haul did eventually refund my $15 after I called them and explained to them I was leaving due to the charge but it still eft a bad taste in my mouth and I left anyway.

eric sFirst of all, This was Waukee was not where my ubox was stored nor was it stored where I requested. Uhaul would not resolve issue and I had to pay an additional 100.00 to have ubox delivered which if it would have went to Eastside Des Moines I would have emptied on my own but it went to Ames incorrectly. I had damaged furniture as well. I have used uhaul and ubox on other occassions and have been very satisfied. I WILL NOT use Uhaul EVER again. And I will tell others of my very disruptive and costly experience. Just to add I DO NOT appreciate receiving bills for a storage I did not have and unti I received and threatened egal action, did it suddenly get resolved. Thank you to Trinity at Waukee for resolving my issue and others, I was informed. Very dissatisfied customer

Christian EI originally booked this uhaul for Ames and they called the day before and said they don’t have any 15ft trucks available so they sent me to Ankeny to pick up. When I dropped the truck off here the next day I was charged additional miles because they didn’t adjust my allowed mileage since I had to pick up the truck in Ankeny and go to Ames then to waukee. I called the gentlemen was very helpful and adjusted the additional miles and took off the charge. Very happy!
Donell CThe store was unfortunately unstaffed this morning when I dropped my car off. At least 2-3 customers walked out before being helped. I was ok with waiting but had to wait 15 minutes to tell the associate I was dropping my car off for an appointment. When I picked my car up the associate was very nice and friendly. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to get a call/text/email letting me know they had to cut my bumper in order for the hitch to fit. While it’s minor I still would appreciate the heads up.

Staff was always excellent, helpful, and friendly. Place was always clean and seemed well-maintained. Always able to get a cart every time. No significant complaints at all.

I waited over an hour waiting for them to get my key card to work. I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service and staff. Train your people so they know how to do their job!!!! This was the worst move and experience. I will not recommend anyone here.

Love the heated drive-in bay for loading and unloading in cold and snowy weather. The facility is pristine, and even includes a clean, readily accessible restroom. Also, with all the cameras and several layers of security, we felt that our possessions were absolutely safe and secure. If you need to store your stuff, this is the place!

Then the guy told me I had to go and retrieve the padlock from the unit and bring it to him. I walked all the way down to the door only to discover my code didn’t work. Walked all the way back to the counter and asked if he had already disabled my code and he said yes, it’s not going to work anymore. Then WHY did he waste my time and send me down there knowing I wouldn’t be able to access the building to get the padlock? Very frustrating. Also, every time I went there and had to use my code I would enter it on the first keypad which gave me clearance. I would then use my code at the next keypad and it told me I was not given access and had to repeat the process, going back to the first keypad. Every. Single. Time! This was a pain when I had a cart full of stuff I had to roll back and forth each time.

I tried calling the customer service number and there was a 2HOUR WAIT TIME to speak with a representative. I opted for the call back and tried figuring it out on my own. I figured it out eventually but the lack of assistance available for help is ridiculous especially when your customers are stressed and tired.

Upon showing up Sunday night, we realized the second unit assigned didn't have a lock, like was promised by the worker. After moving for 13 hours that hot day, we had to find a lock at 10pm on a Sunday night. Fleet Farm and Hyvee were closed. The gas stations didn't have one. Had to go 35 minutes round-trip to a Walmart to find one. Also, the push bar for the outer door to the loading dock was locked "open" until at least midnight, but we were under the impression it should have been locked at 10.

They even have a spot where if there's something you don't want you can leave it there for someone who can use it they can take it. (No mattresses which is totally understandable). I have a twisted ankle, and had to go all the way to the front desk to find out what to do. This should have been explained to me before I left the service desk. My biggest complaint is I purchased a 10x10x10 storage unit on line, when I went to the facility, I was given two small units side by side. I think this is very wrong to be misled on my purchase. What could I do once I had everything with me to move. Very unhappy with this turnout. So I'm paying for a unit that is not what I asked for. The employee told me there were no other units available. Then there shouldn't have been the availability on-line.

Other customers obviously decided they needed to get rid of lots of stuff, but it was not properly removed from there. It was always overflowing, and in the travel lanes, to get a cart to storage unit.

I called to upgrade to the available ground floor 10x15 to find out that was not set. I called in to make sure I was a ground floor 10x10x10 when I got there for my reservation it was assigned a 10x10x7 and only one working employee without access or knowledge of the storage units there was no compensation for all of the inconvenience I was put through especially since I was paying movers to help by the hour they were on the clock for half an hour before we even got to start unloading I was also given a unit that had a lockout tag saying the previous tenet no longer had access to due to failure of payment

The newbie told us the GM must not be onsite, so we couldn’t get anyone to help us. I want y’all to refund my movers, train your new hires, and figure out a system for not keeping dozens of customers waiting with no solutions. This facility needs a LOT of work.

When we opened our storage it triggered the alarm. We didn’t have a lock as stated a free one was to be provided. Went into the retail side and there was no one in there after a few minutes just went a figured it out myself.

First I was charged an extra day on my truck rental. I requested a refund but have not received it yet. Then I rented a storage unit and when I went to use it, the unit had a customer lock and a delinquency lock on it. I waited for more than 30 minutes before I was able to get help. It was after hours but that is not my fault. The guy that was helping sighed the entire time. Again, not my fault. I have used uhaul on several occasions but this might be the last. Very disappointed

Alarm kept blaring every 15 minutes on move out day which was obnoxious for a 2 hour move out. Inconsistencies with billing leading to late fees when autopay was never set up correctly. Miserable experience.
Vera H | Overall ExperienceI can’t say enough just how grateful I am for the employee who checked us in to our storage unit. We had a rough start to our move- the truck rental location in Cedar Rapids didn’t have the truck we reserved, so we had to drive to Iowa City for a truck, and then back to Cedar Rapids to load and move, giving us a late start. After we loaded and were on the road, we hit gridlocked traffic due to a wreck. Altogether, we ended up at the storage location twenty minutes after close. An employee was headed toward his car, but saw us walk up to the door and asked if he could help, even though I’m sure he was off and ready to go home already. We told him what happened and he went out of his way to check us into the storage unit we reserved and get us set up. He was amazingly kind and courtesy. It was a rough day, but his act of kindness really made the day better. I can’t thank him enough.
Roman G | First ImpressionsI have been to this uHaul location a couple of times to rent moving trucks. This is the first time I've gone there to rent a storage unit. The staff were really helpful. It took a while to get my unit, but the first person who helped me credited me with one month free for the inconvenience, which I really appreciated. My key card didn't work when I tried it, but someone else helped me change the key card to one that did, and he tested it out before he gave it to me, which was great. Then, when I returned to put things in my unit today, the same person who helped me with my card saw that I was having trouble getting into the loading garage, and he ran over immediately to open the garage door for me. I'm sure it was my own error and I'm grateful for his courtesy going above and beyond to assist me! I would highly recommend this place for their professionalism and service.

John K | Overall ExperienceThe storage unit it self was good, but the workers were not helpful, all we heard was, I can't do that, meaning, management has to do that, Justen if even you would of helped, but you wasn't there half the time, we moved out on the May 28th NOT June 1st, so wrong again, we want our money back, you said you weren't charging us the couple days, after May 19th you wrote that on your business card, and we have it, we had to call our bank and contact the fraud Department and your worker told them what was going on, very poor place and workers, VERY POOR, I hope someone else from corporate calls me, but I am sure it's just going to you and will be seen by anyone else. I am not sure why you treated us so poorly, but I feel sorry for the next person. All we wanted was our money YOU promised us and would not close us out. We have tried calling U Haul lots of times but NO ONE answers, so there was no way to resolve this except go to our bank, WE MOVED OUT MAY 28, 2021 NOT JUNE1ST Diane Cowan

The front desk manager did a great job and I had no issues with him. There is someone sleeping in the indoor bay. The first night I went there, there was a van parked in there and a guy was sleeping. The second time he had the same van but was not in the front seat. I would not let my wife go there on her own due to this guy hanging out and sleeping. I also drove into the bay and the door to the storage facility opened without me using my card. There were buckets all over the second floor catching water and several empty units had the doors open with buckets catching water. I am not confident my unit won't start leaking and running my things.

We arrived at the appropriate time to move into a rental unit and we were told they did not have any 15 x 10 units available at all they only had 10 x 10 units and they had none available on the first floor. They had a 10 x 10 available on the second floor we would have to bring all of our items up a set of stairs And then down a long hallway. When I asked about why we made the reservation she said that it was policy that they just give the units to people as they arrive so it was first come first serve. When I inquired why do I make a reservation at all then she did not know why this was the policy. Very unhappy did not choose to rent a unit there after all. On the plus side the truck rental was seamless and awesome.

I have to move my stuff from the car to a cart, wheel it inside, carry everything up the stairs and load it into a second cart, and then push it to the far end of the second floor, where there is another staircase that can't be used? An elevator, or at least a long series of ramps is really a must for this place!
