Start the truck out with a full gas tank. I've never picked up a U-Haul with a quarter tank. That is just inconvenient. Other than that, it was a good experience.DAVID K.

The customer experience in the Auburn location was horrible. I rented a 20 foot Uhaul for a cross country trip 6 weeks in advance. The night before I was to pick it up, they called me and told me they did not have any 20 footers available. They stated I would have to take a 26 footer. I did not want to travel 3400 miles in the 26 footer but was told that is the way it is. The next day I show up to get it, they did the paper work, then threw the key on the counter and said "its in back in the first row, go find it". Who does that to customers. No walk around the truck, no bringing it up for me. Nothing. I discovered when I dropped it off that there is an app to take pictures and document, but when I picked up the truck they said nothing. I will never use Uhaul again after this experience.Gregory M.

I hated the truck, though. No cruise control was the worst. Windows having to be cranked? I didn't even know they made those any more. The 75mph speed limiter was also a great annoyance, unnecessarily slowing my progress. Lastly, I now have to figure out how to pay tolls since a toll transponder was not offered/available. If I ever have to rent one of these poorly equipped trucks again, it will be too soon.Mark H.
Arrived at pick-up location a bit early opened the business door to a greeting of "we don't open till 7". Went back outside and sat on curb. At 7 went back into business, no good morning, just blank stares. checked in and was told "truck is 1st in line, out back." There were 3 lines of trucks located between self storage units, truck was not 1st in line. I had reserved blankets and a hand truck, they were not in truck. I spent many minutes preprocessing the rental information online. When I got to the pick-up location they reported that they had no record of things like my payment information. Trailer was clean but we used it to move our son the roof leaked so bad his bed got wet and a bunch of his other belongings too I mentioned that to the guy when I took the trailer back to return it and all I got was â€œ gee awfully sorry that happened to you â€œ roof up front had been patched and apparently who ever did it did a poor job.JONATHAN W.

You failed on every level and there were at least 6 points of contact I had with Customer Service wherein it could have been remedied and wasn't. Picking up the trailer was great, the two guys that were there had great customer service skills. Dropping it off however is a completely different story. I pulled up to the return kiosk like the signs said and started to detach the trailer myself because nobody was there to help. After I got the trailer fully detached someone came out and said that another person would be out to help me. The next kid that came out had little to 0 customer service skills whatsoever. He came out and said I'd need to back the trailer up away from the drop off station. So I asked â€œwhere he'd like it parked?â€ The kid replied under the sign. The â€œsignâ€ is 15-30 feet long by 3 feet deep that runs along their lot. Mind you, it's already got 5 trailers under it already. So I asked again, â€œwhere do you want it?â€ He replies, under the sign. So I get in my vehicle after making sure the trailer is attached now so I can move it and begin to back up under the sign. I stopped 3 feet away from the pile of trailers and asked again, where do you want this parked? Because right now I'm blocking the entry way into the lot, there isn't any room under the sign for this trailer to go, and when I picked it up, it was stacked into another trailer that I'm assuming was done by hand or a professional because of how tight they had been stacked. I put the vehicle in park and as the kid comes to my passenger side window I asked him where exactly he'd like the trailer parked because I'd already been there longer than I thought I'd be for dropping off a simple trailer. The kid replies huh? I said where do you want this? Huh? Where do you want this? Huh? Where do you want this? The kid is almost climbing into my vehicle at this point and I'm beginning to show my frustration because of the amount of times I've repeated myself. â€œOver there is a spotâ€, the kid finally says. â€œOver thereâ€, is another 10 feet from where I already backed up into and was not anywhere near what I thought was under the sign. But regardless I pulled forward, rearranged and backed the trailer into the new spot. I exited my vehicle to help detach the trailer again and then asked, â€œis there anything I need to sign?â€ â€œHuh?â€ Is the reply I got. â€œIs there anything I've got to sign?â€ â€œHuh?â€ This time I begin to use my hands as I ask again if there was anything else I needed to sign. â€œNoâ€ I got into my jeep and drove off.Alex B.

I rented a storage unit and had nothing but terrible customer service. I emailed customer service and the corporate email with no responses. Finally on the day I decided to move my belongings to another company, there was a nice lady there and she actually listened to my complaints and took good care of me. The customer service was terrible, the storage unit did not seal well so my items were completely covered in road dirt and I could not access my unit at my leisure because they park their trucks in front of the units. They told me to give them notice. So I went all the way out of my way a few days before I would be there with movers and let them know the day and time I would be there. I was repeatedly promised the trucks would not be there. Sure enough the trucks were there. Went out of my way for nothing. The Manager at that location lacks any and all customer service skills. I have worked in customer service and as a customer service manager for 32 years and can feel confident in telling you he has no skills to be in that position working with your customersMelissa W. | Overall Experience

We did find that the truck leaked...a few boxes were really wet...but otherwise very happy till we dropped off the truck...we had to go more than 20 minutes away from the storage unit. But everything was handled fast and efficiently...we were very pleased...we also returned the truck 3 days earlier than expected...thank you very much.Kevin A.
First and foremost CHANGE THE LOCATION IN AUBURN! This one is worse than the Cooks Corner, Brunswick,Maine old location. The truck I rented was showing its age; the doors did not shut well, the drivers seat showed the miles &tc. BUT the truck did well, even with the check engine light on for over an hour till I got it back. The price was reasonable. ALL the big trucks could use a 21st century back up camera with a LARGE screen in the cab. I wish you would bring back the stake bed trucks again. I hauled lumber in this truck, and it was too much truck for the work, but there was no other option. The lumber was 16to 18 ft. long. Last, I tried my local U Haul in Brunswick, Maine NEW LOCATION, but they had no truck to rent. It seems they are busy all the time. Keep up the good work, I think you are the last of this sort of rental outfit left.CHARLES A.

U-Haul trucks are always beat to death. This was no exception. The truck was given to me with 1/4 tank of gas and then I was charged $20 for not bringing it back with the 3/8 they said it had. Fill them up and that issue goes away. Easier to fill a truck than try to get a ridiculous level of gas. I put almost 10 gallons in it before returning putting it back to as close as I could. the manager Tom Senson at this branch was a total A-HOLE. He was not helpful at all and made us feel we were bothering him in renting a truck. When I went to my storage unit there were trucks lined up in front of the unit. The customer service rep gave us a hard time and just about refused to move the trucks. This happened twice. The customer service is very poor to the point almost everyone is rude. There is also something wrong with the mechanism on my unit we had to pry open the lock every time we went there. I have had nothing but positive experiences with this facility. The staff including Josh, and the two younger gentlemen (didn't get their names) have been accommodating and pleasant each of the four times I've dealt with them. I even had someone back into my truck on accident (not staff), and they were quick to act, making sure if needed, a claim would be filed. So, obviously you are attempting to take something that does not belong to you which is call STEALING. Where to start. Thank god it was a free month because we rented a uhaul trailer cross country or I never would have lasted the month. There are soooo many trucks parked everywhere it is hard to drive around or park your vehicle. There was always a truck parked in front of all one side of the units. You had to call to say please move the trucks so I can load and unload stuff. Very inconvenient. We were going to sign on for a year but it is too busy in that lot and way too many headaches and besides we found a unit in town for half the price uhaul quoted me!
