I needed a vehicle for two days. It was an emergency thats why I hadn't made a reservation ahead of time. I called first thing in the morning to check on the availability of a 10ft truck or a cargo van, I was told there was none available. I called a different location they had one available for one day only. I rented it because my main priority was to get the stuff out of the place where they were. And was trying to figure out if I could get another vehicle for the second day. My sister called that same location and was told both vehicles were available. Which means I had to pay an additional $56 do not reason when if the attendant would of done his job I would of been able to get the the vehicle I ended up with since the beginning. When I walked in to the store got in line, the attendant was helping another person. Once the person left I waited in there for a couple minutes without a great, eye contact or telling me they would be with me shortly. Nothing at all. Same exact scenario on the return of the truck. The attendant didn't bother to greet or say anything. I returned the key and stand in there waiting while he looked at his phone then I ask if I needed to sign anything he said. â€œ Naa â€œ If you are looking to improve your service please hire people who want to work.Lizbeth R.

Only issue that I have is that I had an reservation for $104 Storage area and when I got there their weren’t any more for the price so we talked and they were saying how they where going to get me one, but less expensive and less space which I am find with he said he’ll give me a month free for the inconvenience so I didn’t pay no mind(which I should’ve) when I packed all my stuff in the storage area and left and looked at my papers it says $150 which is more than I was expecting to pay which I thought they they where giving me a lil space will be going back to changeBrandon W. | First Impressions

I found the staff although knowledgeable and pleasant , they were very young. Nothing against young staff again they were polite and educated, they lacked a bit of professionalism. Topics of lunch choices and after work activities could discuss after CUST leaves. They also did not complete the reservation by not including exstras paid for. The hand truck paid 10.00 nit included on truck On a scale 1-10 I def give a 8.5. Minor Truck was set aside and very clean. Location easy to drop off and pick up. Will. Recommend or use again. U-Box ordering and delivery were exceptional. After that Uhaul seems to be disorganized and the computer systems NOT integrated. Multiple txt msgs saying I could pick up my rental anytime. Its a UBox??? wont fit in my car??? Finally got the UB dilivered to Tropicana field o 6/3/22 and unloaded it. I do not know the current status and hope I will not be charged monthly rental for UBox??? Called in multiple times but keep getting transfered and automated msg says 20-30 minute wait. Try logging in but no status to be found. No final email from Uhaul saying UBox rental is complete. It was difficult to track my shippment and when I called into (Largo) to find out if my UB would be shipped to the Tropicana Uhaul for unloading they said it would not be shipped because I had not paid. I said I had not recieved any notice of unpaid bills. She said it shows in the system... Anyway I called back the next day and a person explained that the billing email had not been sent yet because the arrival date for my UB was the next week, even though the UB arrived weeks before. Also she said to use the website I had to use my Order number NOT username and password to see info about your order??? What? Not integrated... Anyway get your systems integrated and it will go a long way for customer satisfaction. I hope I will not receive monthly bills for the UBox I unloaded on 6/3 at Tropicana Uhaul...micheal C.

We returned the truck on Sunday and it was just after closing so we did the mobile return and dropped the keys in the key drop. It took us a couple attempts to get the mobile return to work. We never received any confirmation of returning the vehicle. On Tuesday I received an email with a receipt charging us for an extra day of rental saying we didn't return the truck until Tuesday morning! My husband called the location and they told him they would refund our credit card. He called again this morning after not seeing a credit issued and they left him on hold for 20 minutes until he finally called 1-800 Uhaul and was able to speak to someone who also could not reach the location but said they would email the manager and have the credit taken care of. I did receive a credit receipt this afternoon.John L.

- I reserved a 26ft truck. The crew at this facility lost the key and I didnt find out until I was there for pickup and was left with no other choice but to take a smaller truck. Had to make two trips instead of one to move furniture which cost me more in mileage. - When I came into the store no one acknowledged me, the entire team carried on their expletive filled personal conversation while I stood at the counter waiting for one of them to pay attention to me - When someone did acknowledge me after their conversation was done, I gave my name and he started typing on the computer, didnt give me any indication of the process moving along, then walked out of the building into the parking lot without saying a word. Came back in to tell me they lost the key and I have to accept a smaller truck. Also didnt have enough moving blankets in stock that I reserved - I was handed the key for the 20 ft truck and told to go look through all the trucks in the parking lot to find the matching truck that corresponded with the key. No one even knew where the truck was parked. I had to squeeze between my truck and another one parked right against it, could barely open the door to get in. This should have been done by one of the four employees standing around inside the office talking to each other - The key drop off process didnt work well, website wouldn't recognize my location - Multiple employees pants were falling off of them and two of them were wearing slide sandals. Everything exceeded expectations. The box was sturdy and CLEAN and it was easy to load. We found the pricing to be much better than the POD system and while POD is nice, we didn't need such a large container and U-Haul Box was the perfect size for what we wanted to move. The entertainment system was broken, so I wasn't able to connect my phone via Bluetooth and listen to the radio. It was a long six hour trip to say the least. We had an excellent experience using the Ubox container. Shipped items from CT to AZ. When we opened our box at arrival - nothing was out of place, nothing broken. We took photos, before & after. Uhaul communicated with us so many times, i.e. pick up time/drop off/when our charges would appear on our credit card, etc. It was a great decision for us to use the Ubox! We highly recommend using Uhaul, Ubox! Moving is so stressful & they made it so much easier! ¡Gracias!Eric D.

I did not receive furniture pads. I didn't need them, but it apparently adds work for the Pittsburgh employees. Also, the front desk people at New Haven could have better communication skills. They were okay, but it was difficult to communicate with them at times. For example, it wasn't clear where the U-Box entrance was, and the employee just said "it's on the other side of the building". He should have said "exit the parking lot, take a right on State Street, and the entrance will be on the end of the building facing State Street". I ended up going to a wrong "other side of the building" first, and had to figure out what he meant.Dylan S.

Paul Civitello was terrific. Upon arriving at my appointed pickup time, we discovered that another customer hadn't returned the equipment that I was scheduled to rent. Paul made it right and got me going as quickly as he could. He did precisely everything he said he would do and made me feel as though my business was important to U-Haul and to him personally. Personalized customer care is very rare these days in the age of automation and self-service (cost cutting). But the staff at the 1175 State Street rental center in New Haven still demonstrate that the customer matters.Paul V.

Average self storage and was as expected. Did notice the smell of a decomposing rat or mouse somewhere in the walls that was a bit off putting. Also, the exit door broke and with a 15' truck, backing out a oneway or maneuvering a three point turn may not be easy for some renters. Loved the facility and everything it offers. I found the staff to be rather unpleasant. There were many issues with my reservation that they weren't able to solve or willing to offer suggestions. When they couldn't find my reservation (even though I provided them with the reservation number, my name, and number, they just kept saying I didn't reserve one and wasn't able to get it. So once I asked to make a new reservation they finally said they had one available (and wouldn't you know it was the one I'd reserved). Then upon checking out, I needed to clear my unit and there were no furniture dollys available (actually only 1 mattress dolly that couldn't move my couch). I think one of the perks of renting with uhaul is the access to moving equipment. None of the staff were willing to help me look for a dolly after being asked multiple times. They actually just stared at me in silence at one point. Overall, I would go with uhaul again but not at this location.Kameron M. | Overall Experience

Sadly my Viki flat screen TV was stolen from my unit which I kept locked. I paid for insurance for nothing, because in order for theft to be covered there needs to be "physical signs of break in" but unfortunately I don't see any physical signs of break in. I am disappointed that someone stole one of my possessions. I moved into my storage until at the end of the month. Within 2 weeks, I was continuously emailed and sent notices of being behind in payment and threatened to be locked out of my unit. It was still not time for my 1st payment. The system had me documented as being in the wrong unit and wrong size. I was told this was updated. I continued to receive late payment notices. Then I was locked out of my unit. This all happened before my 1st payment was even due. I returned to the state st location a 3rd time for my account to be fixed. They did my contract all over to make sure everything updated. Being locked out of my unit is unacceptable and not a great experience. Staff is completely unhelpful and do not follow any of the official procedures. They did not respect my initial reservation, so I had to pay for a storage facility twice the size and the cost than what I needed. The storage room was very dirty and with debris. They didn't even mind to clean it up for me. Upon move out, I did the online checkout because it was out of business hours. They did not attend my check out request and I was still getting notifications of rent due, etc. It was not until I went in person, three weeks later, that they completed my request. The staff have always been helpful, however, the email below written to the GM remains unanswered since 8/15/21: I moved out of my storage unit 1052 this afternoon and was appalled to find not only rat droppings on some of my belongings, but a dead rat in my unit as well. It's evident there are traps everywhere including in the units, but I had to throw away a sectional sofa rather than risk potentially bringing a virus into my new home. What is the U-Haul company policy when it comes to vermin? This contract was a nightmare, it was supposed to be 90 days maximum. My daughter was supposed to pay the thing while I was away, when I returned the price was so out of control that I allowed them to take the item this was over a year ago. Now all of a sudden finally they have taken the items but they sent me a bill for over $3,000 trying to get me to believe that I was liable for it. I came back to my storage unit to find dead mice everywhere. The current tally is up to 5, but I still have a few boxes to go through. Several items of sentimental value were destroyed by these mice. Of the items that weren't outright ruined, many reek of mouse excrement/decay, and will likely need to be thrown out. I do feel badly for these mice, who had to spend their final moments in such an unclean and unwelcoming establishment. I only hope that they found some solace nestled in the shreds of my old t-shirts and childhood memories. The infestation aside, U-Haul employs some really predatory billing practices, making it extremely difficult to pay your month's rent in advance of the due date. They then charge you if it's late. After a very frustrating phone call in which I was blamed for not using the "Future Pay" option (no such option exists), I was told my late fees would be waived if I enrolled in AutoPay. I begrudgingly acquiesced, but have yet to see a refund credited to my account (it's been a year). Avoid their storage services at all costs!Caitlin B. | Overall Experience

I made three different reservations using my credit card for your storage facility and when we went to show up to put the items into storage, my reservation was given away. It was told to me, that you only take a dollar to hold the box however, I don't understand why I just couldn't pay for it. I spent a lot of time on the phone booking another unit with a very well mannered employee, only to find out that giving her all my credit card information didn't reserve a unit. Fortunately they still had a unit available and I was able to purchase again for the third time only with my uncle being inside the location unlike the other two locations who sold my reservation to someone else. Very long exhausting experience. I ended up with a truck from one location and a storage from an entire different location. Not sure if I'd recommend this process to anyone?
