How about not giving us a truck with a slipping transmission, a door that gets stuck up top (took an hour to get it unstuck), door doesn't close properly (had to pay $10 for rope, some of my belongings fell off and broke when the truck stopped all by itself and the door flew open

They gave us the wrong truck, and the paperwork was completely incorrect for that reason. We could not drop it off after hours because of this, and it was an ordeal to correct it all. It took much aggravation and about 3 hours total to resolve. We also ended up spending an extra $30 in gas because of the recording of the wrong truck's gas tank not having the same amount of gas as the truck we were supposed to have rented. We did not notice this big mistake right away. While front desk staff at time of pick up was professional and courteous, returning it was a nightmare. All because of uhauls mistake. We should received a credit or refund because of this. Please call me at 475 261 5032. I am willing to change my review and not post this same comments on yelp if a representative contacts me. When arrived the trailer was buried on hard snow and had to wait 30 minutes just to find out my trailer was the one in the back plus the gate was not locking down . Ask to return near my house at the Hamden location and was not processed the way I need it to be . Also never got the call back that they arrange.

The initial truck we were given was making a strange sound so we brought it back since we had a long drive ahead and they exchanged it with absolutely no problem. The two gentlemen were very kind, understanding and super speedy and efficient. It was one of the most pleasurable Uhaul experiences that I have had.

When we got to the location, it was not clear how to enter. There was not a clear way to get into the garage part other than asking the attendants to open it for us. Once we got to the storage unit itself, it had a tag on it that said "ready for new customer" but it also had a lock on it. So we had to get the attendants a second time to take the lock off for us. They were all extremely courteous and professional. I had to ask one to put his mask on up over his mouth and nose. He did so without hesitation after I asked.

I don't understand why U-haul is incapable of providing adequate training in customer service for its employees. This service is supposed to make moving easier, but the incompetency of the staff at this location made the process even more stressful. They did not contact me in time when I called them to set up a U-box delivery, which resulted in my box (with ALL of my stuff) being over a week late. There was no manager or assistant manager to talk to. The guy I spoke to sounded like he wasn't fully trained, as he knew very little about the process. Turns out he had been working there the longest. I genuinely do not know how this company continues to function.

The state st Connecticut office was excellent but the 1 800 number scheduled me a truck then canceled my truck minutes after my reservation was made without informing me. I went to the state st store and was informed there was no trucks. They tried hard to find me one im other stores but could not. I had to cancel my day n replan for the next day. It was a very big inconvenience

Very confusing and incompléte paperwork. Hard to reach a real person and to do that meant at least 20 minutes on hold. Holly in Connecticut was the most professional and dependable and was instrumental in finding the lost box and verifying that it was ours. In speaking to a worker in New Haven we learned that nothing would be done till Monday or Tuesday when his supervisor was back and would call. This is so wrong and unacceptable and a poor way to run a business. No one except Holly made any type of apology. I believe when errors are made that there should be some type of compensation but I leave that to you To end on a more positive note I cannot say enough about the three young men from Helping Hands who unloaded the two units. They were wonderful and a joy to work with.

I selected the mobile check-in option, and when I arrived, I learned that there was no equipment available for me. I was told that the vehicle needed to be “checked in” before I could rent it. When I received the vehicle, it was dirty, clearly hadn't been sanitized or cleaned at all (extremely concerning in COVID times), and it smelled horrible, somewhat like smoke. In fact, the smell was so strong, that I got a headache from it. I also discovered the gas tank had been left nearly empty, so I had to start by putting gas in the tank, delaying my move. I did receive some reimbursement, but it was basically equally to the amount of excess gas I put in the tank. Also, almost none of the employees were wearing masks inside the UHaul store. I would certainly recommend people go anywhere else BUT this UHaul location.

The lines were long with two people at the counter each time I've gone. They dont rush the customer they are with and make sure the customer is satisfied before they leave the counter. Although the waiting time on the line is long it's worth the wait for excellent service.

We did not visit the State St facility. Our box was seen at the Whalley Ave New Haven location but was delivered to our Monroe home by Becky and was picked up for transportation to FL by Holly. Both women were expert fork lift drivers!! We did not receive our full complement of packing blankets (6 instead of 12 or 20) but Becky had no extras in her truck. Salome, who delivered the full box from Pompano, FL to our home inBoca Raton (and picked it up again two days later) was personable as well as efficient. She apologized for the apparent water leak in the box. None of our contents were damaged. We presume that we were not charged for any blankets that we did not receive. We used many of our own instead. We are very pleased that we used uhaul for our possessions

U Haul New Haven (State Street) tried to overcharge for gas and distance traveled, and this fiasco has the feel of something this business regularly does--fudge the numbers to raise their fee. It has required a great deal of effort to get part of what I am owed back after this overcharge. I am still in the process of getting the rest back. I would not use U-Haul New Haven's services again. They are dishonest.

Preferred location for pickup was not available. By 4:30 pm the day prior I had still not been called. When I called, I was told they would have called me by 6:00pm. That's late in the game when we are talking driving an extra 35 minutes to pick up. Truck can reeked of smoke.

The service was good, the staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I noticed none of the staff wore masks. It made me very uncomfortable. My boyfriend has been there in the past few months and noticed the same thing. This is an important issue that needs to be addressed.

The mileage should be visible and the clock should be set to the proper time in the vehicles after each return inspection. The clock in my vehicle was 2 hours ahead and the mileage screen was set to the gas consumption average display.

I was very dissatisfied with the mobile 24/7 service. Specifically, the procedure at pickup regarding contacting personal references, passport, or lease options that were NOT explained to me, even though not 8 hours prior I asked the agent on the phone if there was anything else I needed to provide for the rental. Had I known before, I would have had my passport and my lease available, but instead I was delayed in leaving causing me immeasurable traffic delays, not to mention disturbing my family at such an early hour. It's a very simple thing to add the ability for your customers to provide this online, prior to the rental. I just don't understand why you would choose not to do that, and inconvenience your customers.

Prior to pickup time you told me that I will have the truck at the specified time. I reserved the truck 1 month ahead and you repeatetly assured me that I will have the truck the morning of Oct the 3rd. You also assured me that you will confirm it with me by 6:00 pm the day before. However when the time came not only you failled to confirm it but you also told me that most likely I will get the truck by the end of the day assuming that another client drops it in on time but you provided no guarantees contrary to what you told me at reservation time. That left me in a real bind because I had to change all my other plans. I booked a one-way trip to Toronto Canada and I had movers lined up to help me loading the truck at both ends. I also had to be there at a specified time. In the end you came trough and provided the truck in the morning of Oct 3rd but that was already too little too late. In the end it worked out but the whole experience was surreal and caused me a lot of griff. It also cost me 400 hundreds dollars more because I had to cancel and rebook the movers from both ends. Instead of getting there in one day I was forced to spend the night in a hotel along the way causing me an additional $160. None of this would've happen if you were to stick to your word. If I knew all that upfront I would've done it differently. I have to think twice before I reuse your services again or recommend you to someone else in the future.

The kids at the desk didn't know what they were doing and had no one around to help them. They gave me a key to a van that wasn't even in the parking lot, and when I went back, it took about 10 minutes to get me a different one. And of course, the furniture pads I paid for ahead of time weren't in that van because nothing had been prepared properly as I was told it would. The kid was trying to be helpful but had no idea what he was doing. Better training and organization would make for a better experience for everyone.

Key drop box should be labeled better and match the photo of the key drop box that is provided in the after drop off instructions. There also were already 3-4 trucks parked and we took up what looks like the last spot. Instructions on where to park if the 24hr drop off is full would have been helpful.

Easy to access. The indoor bay area is perfect for loading and unloading, and the carts are very convenient.

Reserved a 5x5 unit, but when I arrived, none were available. I was given a 5x7, only to walk to the unit and find out that it too was taken. Finally, I had to be given a 5x10. Once I got to my unit, I learned that the alarm system was broken and frequently went off. Later that day, I was not allowed to return an unopened package of moving tape.

Whereas the store and storage is clean the staff need work on social skills. This is also the second time in which I have been there to see a room full of customers that needed to be helped by only one representative. About 95% of the representatives do not wear masks or wear them improperly.

I appreciated that they provided a lock and made things easy. Initial phone call was great - rep I spoke with was extremely friendly and helpful. My only concern is that none of the employees at the desk wore masks in the 4 or so times I've been there. It would be considerate to customers if they would since we're in a pandemic. Every time I went to get something, the doors were locked, and it was always during office hours. This made me have to go around and use the side door half the time. The pin-pad didn't recognize me either. This was not a good experience here, other than the nice people working there. I would not recommend this place to anyone at all.

My first experience wasn’t pleasant as by the end of it, I was double billed for everything, they didn’t check whether I used the troll in the truck or not, and when they corrected the bill they did it wrong, and when I told the staff she was irritated instead of apologizing even though I was truly very kind and respectful as I know that such thing happen. We all do mistakes. The second experience was much better despite that the system gave the employee such a hard time to book the storage unit for me, but the staff was very kind and helpful and truly helped in the best to their power. (I appreciate the team at state street location)

Your staff are incredible. They helped me out several times with a difficult situation I was going through. They handled it very professionally, but also with kindness and compassion! Even the customer service people were amazing! Especially one woman Brittany, she was a HUGE help to me while trying to close out my storage unit due to my difficult situation! She was impeccable! Also I believe the assistant manager in that facility was also so kind and caring! I really felt that she truly cared about me as a customer and as a human being! Truly wonderful service from everyone! Staff there are just incredible! They all did an amazing job!! The facility itself is wonderful! Clean, sparkling clean really... Very surprised for a storage company to have such a beautifully kept facility! I've used many storage units in the past and none compare to this facility!
