WILLIS DI reserved the U-Haul on Monday for pick-up on Friday at Danville WV. They called me Friday and said they didn't have one that I had to pick up in Charlston WV which was over 1 hour from my home. Since I had to go out of the way I was told they would allow an extra 100 miles. The 100 miles was not given to me, and I got charged an extra $27.00 after returning the U-Haul I assume for mile overage. I was very upset with not being able to pick the U-Haul up at the scheduled location as it was scheduled days in advance and being notified less than 24 hours. If there was not going to be one available for pick-up it should not allowed me to schedule. I thought this was very unprofessional and then not to add the 100 miles to protect me from going over since I had to drive over an hour out of the way to get the truck.

Tim JAbsolutely horrendous experience. After assuring me it would take 1-2 hrs maximum to install a hitch they strung me along twice even though I had appointments both times, the first time for 2 hrs without even starting the work (after which I had to leave for an appointment), the second time for 5 HOURS, after which they said they couldn't complete the job before closing. After I left I found out they had misinstalled the wrong plug despite my repeated clarification of what I needed, so I have to take it in again to get fixed.
Patrick HMake sure everything is available when you are reserving equipment. Equipment dolly's were not available anywhere near our location.

Charlie MI had a great experience with this location. But I was at the Patrick St. location and the female at the counter was on her cell phone THE ENTIRE TIME. She didn't even want to help me rent a trailer and was very annoyed by my presence. She needs to be terminated.
David TI am admittedly ignorant but ta least am aware there are myriad intricacies related to renting equipment. This observation is strictly related to the user experience during the drop-off process and one of the system prompts. I was asked "how would I like to pay..." when I had already done so at reservation. I made a quick note of it in the comments block, and it allowed me to move onto the other steps. It seemed to be a duplicative step. That minor nuance aside, keep up the great work U-Haul! We continue to trust in your equipment & service.

Shane HThe St. Albans Uhaul location was amazing. It wouldn't let me put NA for recommend # of containers, we did that online and needed more. Also it wouldn't let me put NA for goods arriving safely, another region did the delivery. The woman who schedules in the office is so helpful. I had to order two extra boxes and she remembered my situation and was able to get the boxes there ASAP because I was on a time constraint because I lived out of state. Friendly, helpful and came up with good ideas when I was at a loss for an idea. Thanks.

misty h | First ImpressionsWhile the staff was very polite and the service was eventually completed, along with a discount on the install fee; the experience was overall poor, frustrating and created significant and continued inconvenience. On June 18th, I purchased a hitch, wiring package and scheduled an install for June 27th. I received a confirmation email for this install with the reservation number 86576551. On June 21st, I received a voicemail from the U-Haul location saying that all of the parts were in and asked if we could come the following day (June 22nd) for install. Due to busy schedules, we were not able to change the install date as we have to make arrangements to only have one car - so we kept the reservation as scheduled. When we arrived as scheduled at 9am on 6/27, we were informed that the wiring package had actually not arrived and the install had been rescheduled to 7/5 with no notification. The whole reason we were having the hitch installed is because we need it for vacation for the week of the July 4th. The representative told us that they could install the hitch and we could come back for the wiring install (that he would be getting it shipped overnight). We left the vehicle to have the hitch only installed. 5 hours later, we called back to see when we could pick it up (family of 7 and we needed to get kids to practices) and they hadn't even started it yet. This was understandably very frustrating and we were assured that the parts had been ordered and if we came back on Saturday at 9am that it would be completed in full (hitch w/wiring) and the install would be discounted. Again, we made arrangements to leave the vehicle and brought in as rescheduled on Sat. When the vehicle was dropped off, it was accepted and they said they would call when it was done. 2 hours later, I received a voicemail saying that there was an issue with the wiring. When I called back, I was informed that the hitch was installed but the wiring didn't arrive so they installed it with no wiring. There was no mention of the wiring not arriving on Friday when it was expected or on Sat when I dropped the car off. This was completely unacceptable because when the original reservation could not be completed because of the wiring, we requested a refund so that we could take it elsewhere to be completed before our trip. The local office would not refund and assured us that it would be completed on Saturday. When we called back to say that the hitch without the wiring was unacceptable, while the representative was polite and courteous - they were of zero help and without a solution (as they said that they called all of the other shops and there were none available in the system). My husband then took it upon himself to call the Charleston, WV location (roughly 20 min from the St. Alban's location where the install was being done) and they had the wiring package we needed. He then called the St. Alban's location back and told them where they could find the necessary parts. Had he not done this, we would not have been able to get our hitch in time for our vacation. With the significant advance notice of this order and then also pushing it out an additional 2 days from the original date, there is no reason that the parts were not available when we arrived - especially with them available at another close location. Had we known this was going to be handled so poorly, we would have just taken to the Charleston location to begin with and will definitely be doing that in the future. We are extremely dissatisfied with the service and experience and will not recommend this location.

Connie MI was overcharged after returning the truck and then charged $15 more a week later. I was given a different truck at location than the app stayed by someone that worked the counter then was told to take the one given. The truck given to me had 1/2 a tank and I returned it a couple hours above 1/2 a tank and clean. I was charged for truck not having 3/4. They kept the $106 deposit because I was charged for 100 miles up front with other charges and then charged me $15 more even though I only drove it 10 miles round trip.
Matthew CI have rented from Uhaul before. This time was a little different. In the past there was always a walk around to inspect the truck or van. Not now. Not as personal as the past. The counter person just sat behind the counter. Just not as good of service.

This was quickly taken care of by the employee working and definitely made the experience much better. Access to the building could have been a little more clear (use the exterior keypad even during normal hours). But I likely didn't read everything.
