Management at this location is awful! Had Salem as our drop off location and was told we had to drop off at another location because the equipment manager failed to shut off location as a drop off spot even with our paperwork showing Salem as our drop off spot. We called pick up location and Arthur from Ayer was very helpful and worked out the issue for us. Salem location wouldn't even try to help! Awful customer service!Julie U.

Louis, the U-Haul professional on-site performed amazingly well despite an issue with the computer system malfunctioning. He managed at least 8-9 customers and a delivery of boxes while I was there. Working with the U-Haul representative by phone to finish my rental, I was on my way in no time. He maintained a professional, cheerful disposition attitude the entire time. I will return to this U-haul in the future.Michael G.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not complaining but, I was told 2 hours (possibly 3). Fifty minutes later I get a call (I'm thinking there is a problem) and the job is completed, and I can pick up my vehicle. Staff was pleasant and answered any and all of my questions. Great job guys!!Walter P.

Desk clerk tried to bill for 2 days plus extra miles instead of applying the day rate of $89 that includes 100 miles and charging extra for anything over 100 miles. Never had an issue with this location before. Not impressed with the new staff. I got my refund but you blew the trust. Won't be back to this location. All other locations we use are friendly, HONEST and fair. This place is now a joke.steven D.

This was the worst experience. The men at the location are awful. I showed up at 6:59 and the guy said do the self check in. I asked for help and he said do the self check in and walked away. The women then took the keys (she was the only helpful person) then the next day I was charged for a dent. Nothing happen while I had the truck. This is so unacceptable. I am completely satisfied with my experience at Salem Uhaul beginning with Max taking my reservation to Jennifer confirming my reservation and finally the customer service provided by Anthony at the store. Car was full of scratches and damage. After returning the vehicle I received my invoice and see that I was charged for damage that was not incurred during my time with the vehicle. I have placed a stop payment on this until we can resolve.Daniel R.

I rented and pick up the vehicle (pickup truck) at 8:54am and returned at 10:31am vehicle was check and inspected gas and mileage were verify and I received by email my credit Card payment receive for $62.40, half hour later I receive another received crediting the previously charge of $62.40 both of these receives indicates that the vehicle were returned at 10:31am and half hour later I get another received charging $212.40 and indicating that the vehicle was return at 11:41am while this is going on no one has reach out to me to let me know what's going on or why until I call back the store in the afternoon when I had chance to check all the email. I must note that at least they should had contacted the customer after the vehicle was received satisfactory and the initial payment was done, but all these changes were done without informing. Also, I believe that the employee should walk with the customer at the time of the rental marking any imperfections or scratches on the rental agreement. It is very troubling what I saw yesterday the way the keep making changes and charges after a transaction has been completed.Miguel A.

Anthony from uhaul-salem went above and beyond for us. We originally scheduled our pick up for this location but the day before we got a call that our pick up was in Lynn because â€œSalem doesn't do one way rentalsâ€. Our experience at the Lynn location was terrible and had to walk out without a truck. When we went to Salem, Anthony immediately got us a one way truck. The storage unit with a ladder walk up, left much to be desired. Anything heavy would be like impossible to to leave here so unless I get a bottom unit, I'm gonna have to pull out before the month is out even though it's been free and find a place where I can at least put heavy stuff in, otherwise I love this U-Haul place. I've been using it for well over 20 years not for storage but for trucks and supplies it's better than it ever ever was. The clerks made me verbally announce my auto insurance policy number,(when i waived to buy uhaul insurance) out loud ,in a store full of people who could hear it.I told them I would write it down instead and they refused to look at it and told me i have to verbally announce it.I told them im not comfortable announcing it in front of everybody,but they told me i had to.I even pulled up my policy#on my phone and showed it to them,but they refused to look,and still made me announce the #in a store full of people listening.Natalie M.

This location overcharge us for their services. Please consider this a formal complaint. We took the truck for 3 days at 39.95 per day and drove 50 miles they charged us almost 400.00 and called the police when we complained.Grant M.

After a rough couple days with very little sleep moving up from Manhattan it was a huge relief to have friendly, professional help with returning and storage. Max is definitely ready for his assistant management position and went above and beyond to help me get my storage unit set and truck returned. Anthony's leadership and poise were critical at drop off and he has been very helpful resolving discrepancies with the New York pick up location. My problem was with the sales rep on the phone. She didn't realize that the storage box on the second level had access only by a stairs/ladder. It was very difficult to get into, pipes in the ceiling and a difficult angle. I wouldn't have been able to manage if my son didn't tag along last minute.
