I have rented here 25+ times and this is the first time the truck was non road worthy. The front end, brakes and entire truck shook violently when I stepped on the brakes. I told the guy I returned the truck it needed to be red tagged and repaired and NOT rented again. UHAUL is on notice if someone gets hurt in that truck they will be liableDonato D.

Agent was upset we asked for a receipt and cursed at us (f****** s***). Took 15 minutes to inspect and just walked away, She would not provide receipt then - only by email later after they closed. Then charged missing/damaged fee with no explanation. The trailer was not damaged and there was nothing missing. I now have to take time to dispute this charge. You should not let this person interact with customers when this is her response to a reasonable request.PAUL B.
The original contract with U-Haul was for a 26ft truck. All the computer correspondence verified that. While I was on the 4 hour train ride to get to Salem, MA I got a phone call from U-Haul saying they didn't have a 26ft truck, I would have to 'make due' with a much smaller truck. I WAS LIVID! I wanted to move the household to northern Maine, a 200 mile trip, in one move. I immediately called, was transferred to a traffic person named Cindy (maybe Cynthia) who was sympathetic and did her best to get me the best of what was available, a 20ft truck with trailer, and added mileage. She was great, and helped calm me down a bit. In Salem Anthony was an absolute hero. He worked hard to do all he could for me. He handled an angry woman (me) with courtesy and humor, and I left thinking it was going to work out after all. When I returned the truck I met your man Nate in Saugus. Another hard worker who had much to much work for one person. Why is he in a hub spot alone? He had trucks and trailers going out, arriving, propane sales, repairs; ridiculous management to think one person can manage these locations alone. In short, U-Haul is VERY lucky to have Cindy, Anthony and Nate working for them, and U-Haul should not make contracts they do not keep, and support the workers who have to face the public with useless contracts. My experience with U-Haul has been poor to say the least. It started out fine with contacting the Jefferson Avenue, Salem facility about the hitch and going down for the car inspection. After that it went down hill very fast. I had to call to find out when I was scheduled for my installation appointment. I called the local phone number, but was switched to a different operator not at the Salem location. I was told that my appointment was at 7:00am on September 28th. I went to the facility for the installation and was told the hitch had not yet arrived and I would be called when it arrived to schedule the installation. I wasted time going for an appointment that I should have been called about to say it was rescheduled. When I asked why I was not called about the hitch not being in, I was told that the calls are made by the scheduling department not the local facility. I called again on September 30th and was told that my appointment was now at 7:00am on October 6th. I specifically asked if the hitch was in and I was told it was at the Salem location. When I asked why I was not called about this, the operator did not know why. I went to the Salem location this morning at 7:00am to have the hitch installed. When I asked how long it would take, I was told it would be done by the end of the day. At no point was I told the car would have to be left for the day. Consequently, I did not make arrangements for a ride home. Fortunately, the weather was good and I was able to make the 3.5 mile walk back to my home. What really disturbs me about this whole process is there was no communications from U-Haul at every point of the process. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE customer service!!!!!Larry D.
I was greeted warmly and thought all was well. I returned the truck back on 10/1 at 9:30AM like my aggrement stated (It was changed since I couldn't get the uhaul til 9:30 because of the key). I was told by an employee to leave the truck there and all was good, they would email me my reciept. My reciept is charging me an extra day saying I delivered it at 11:16am. Come on. Come on. I understood the gas, I couldn't find a location that was accessable, so I understand the insane charge, but I was in the lot and parked at 9:30am. I didn't want to believe the reviews of this location but I do now. Someone contact me immediately because I do not like having a literal lie on my receipt, you could have put anything else like 9:32 and charged me, but to lie and say 11:16? I want the tapes checked and I have photos of the inside of the car with the time, and mileage.Samantha C.

Clean the cab of the trucks. Everything inside of the truck that I had to touch was absolutely filthy. From the steering wheel, to the window knobs, radio, seat belts and not the mention the seats ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜³Sharissa S.
I was charged for damage when I didn't cause any (had the truck for 3 hours and went to one location) . When I went back after seeing the charge on my emailed receipt, the gentleman who checked me in said I was the 3rd party to use the truck and that I should have reported the damage before I drove away because they didn't have the manpower to check with each turnaround. I said the truck was in poor condition (check engine light was on for example) and I had no idea that every pre-existing issue was mine to list. His underling interrupted and said you should have read the contract and the text message sent to you after signing. I said I had no idea a text message was sent as my phone was off to drive. Got a phone call at 9am stating I hadn't turned in the truck from the previous day (which I had). Called back 30 times and each time the location never picked up the phone. I had to drive 45min to get to the location to sort it out. The blame was placed on a new employee and there wasn't a remedy offered.Jack P.

At this point it's hard for me to recommend Uhaul in general nvm this location. I originally booked a truck for Wilmington Ma. The day before I was supposed to pick up I was told the nearest location that had a truck was Salem Ma. HUGE inconvenience. I was told I could pick it up at any time as it was on the lot. I then called the Salem location back to change my pickup time as my original time would be rush hour traffic and this was already over a half hour away from me. My original location was 10 minutes away. The woman told me that I couldn't pick up the truck till 3:30pm because someone else had it. I asked for a manager and she sent me to a new telephone number. Luckily that person was able to help me and changed the time appropriately. He told me that the truck was on the lot and he didn't know why I was told otherwise. The Wilmington location, messed up my order THREE times. I went to pick up boxes/supplies on the day I ordered them and they had not put my order together yet. I opted to come back the next day. Many items were missing and incorrect. I didn't realize it till day of moving but my mattress cover was the wrong size. So I did NOT have a mattress cover for my move. Then they didn't have a truck for me. Truly awful customer service.Christina R.
The assistant manager had a awful attitude from the minute you walk into the store. I had an issue bill, 1. They over charge me for gas, 2. I was charged for a dollie that I never used or touched. They said the seal was broken. Why didn't U-Haul check this and the gas before I left the yard. Lastly the manager called me the next day and said he would credit my credit card. I booked my uhaul about a month in advance and needed the truck for longer than 24 hours. I asked on the phone when I made reservation about this and how to make it for the amount of time needed. She said to just tell them when I pick it up that I need it for longer. I called the customer service line again to double check this a few days later and actually stopped by the uhaul store I would pick up at in Salem MA a couple weeks before to triple check. All employees told me the same thing, to let them know upon pick up I would need it for longer. When I picked up the truck on 8/30/21 I said I need it for longer, the store manager said that couldn't be done. I politely expressed my frustration and explained the above. I did not have another for moving other than keeping the truck for >24 hours which three separate uhaul employees one of which was from the store I picked up told me would be okay. The store manager initially was very rude to me essentially refusing to check the truck out to me and threatening the call the police the next day if I didn't have it returned, even though again I was told by three employees I would be able to have it for longer than 24 hours without any issues. I was able to speak with regional manager I believe and she the store manager worked together to come up with a compromise. But after about an hour of miscommunication and a lot of added unnecessary stress for me. This is the second terrible experience I have had with uhaul and I don't plan on returning as a customer based on the poor customer service I have received and inability to follow through on promises.Eliza H.
The truck smell like someone previously smoked (they don't have any other vehicles available) , interior windshield is dirty. August 31st in the morning battery was completely dead , so I had my Triple A's to recharge it and runs perfectly. Then died like a hour later then had my triple A's to recharge it and it's was done by 5ish from Everett MA, so I had to wait until that late to recharge and drove all the way to here , everything was fine but arrived late . I would need to speak with corporate office or manager because I can't suffer the smell of the smoke from previous customer due to my asthma. GraciasJUSTIN S.
I arrived at 0700 for my 0700 pick-up as I had a long 9 hour round trip planned. The lot was packed with returned vehicles. The door was locked. I asked an employee and he basically told me not to bother him. I waited well over an hour until I finally got my trailer. The manager was also very rude to a young lady in front of me. Very poorly run operation. The staff needs to come in much earlier than they do and clear the lot and serve their customers as they arrive. It's not my problem that the lot is poorly organized. Not fair to the 8 other customers that were waiting patiently. I will definitely go elsewhere.Mark P.

General Manager Jayme was very rude and confrontational, does not know how to communicate with customers, at one point looking at me with a threatening manner like he was about to punch me when I tried to explain to him that the charge he put on my card for a tire was not supported by the obvious evidence of the slash on the tire it was clearly old, since it had cracks all around the slash, that can only happened with time, there's was no way that that slash on the tire was freshly made the 29 of August 2021 @3pm when I returned the truck cleaned and fueled, Jayme proceeded with threatening demeanor telling me I don't want to talk to you no more you'll have to pay the charges i gave you or I'll put on a list that you won't be able to rent U-Haul again, now get out of my store, and proceeded to follow me to my car with his threatening look and clinching his fist like he was about to punch me, i got in my car and left and call customer service to report this incident. Very Very disappointed with U-Haul General Manager Jayme of the Salem Ma store in Jefferson ave. I do not recommend anyone to rent from U-Haul again base on U-Haul's poor hiring skills having someone like Jayme on such a high position representing the U-Haul brand.Gustavo P.

The lights on the trailer were not functioning. The uhaul agent had to give me secondary magnetic lights to use. The agent solved the problem but uhaul should inspect/test the equipment before renting it so as to save time.Marc Z.
They were not able to offer me a van when I arrived even though I had a reservation. I was given a much larger truck, which I was very uncomfortable driving especially because the neighborhood I was driving to was very narrow (why I rented the van to begin with). Jamie was excellent to work with. For customer improvements put a disclaimer that even though you make a reservation (I did 3 weeks in advance) it does not guarantee truck availability at that location on one way trips. My storage unit looks like it might be the runt of the litter, but it gets the job done. The storage unit door does not have the U-Haul logo and painted number as the rest of them do, so it seemed like maybe I got the trash pick.
