In getting a rental for $19.99 I was totally confused when the final billed ended up being 153 dollars. Once learning the mileage I requested was the issues, I was able to calmed down. Over all a great experience.

The reception I received upon arrival was 10 star customer service, the explanation of charges, process and what was expected of me were thorough. Could not have had a better experience!

To be honest, the service at the Calumet city location was excellent. The reason I'm giving a bad review is that I had a reservation that was made at the Harvey location and u-haul decided to inconvenience me and send me to the Glenwood location. (BIG MISTAKE) I talked to the manager of that location (GW) and told her what my issue was and how u-haul completely changed my reservation and inconvenienced me. Because of the inconvenience, she informed me that she would discount my truck and miles. Day of pick up- We walked into the (GW) location and wasn't greeted by anybody because they seem to have been too busy. Store Manager was concerned more about unloading a truck lbs. After being in the location for about 3 min, we finally get greeted by the African American Male that was on duty. This person was rude and very argumentive. The first issue was he asked if we had a secondary number to provide we proceed and provide him with the information. Instead of him saying we have to verify the information to make sure you can be reached, in the event you don't return the truck he called the phone and because we left the phone in the car, there was no answer. He then stated well we couldn't rent you the truck. We go out to the car to get the phone he verifies and asks about insurance. At this point, I'm pissed because now I feel as if you thought I was lying or something. I responded with NO. I WANT WHATEVER I BOOKED ONLINE. He never once explained to us what he was doing, nor the next steps he was taking to ensure we were all on the same page. So at this point me and YOUR EMPLOYEE are going back and forward (arguing). To make matter worst, the STORE MANAGER was standing there and didn't step in and say, not one word. I ask the manager to put the reservation in my name; she responded with a rudely NO. She stated that the polices wouldn't allow them to do so. I asked her for the proof, and she couldn't produce it. So I ask for her manager information. I called Craig, (I think that's his name) he wasn't rude, but as a regional/area manager you would think that he would be somewhat understanding/helpfully to the customers. (NOPE) He called the store to see what was the issue the (MANAGER) told him about the code that came up and informed him she was too busy to figure out what the code was. (smh) (THE CUSTOMER-FIRST) Craig called me back, and basically, there was nothing he could do, which was an inconvenience to us because we had driven from Minnesota to help our 70-year-old mother move. Long story short, we didn't get the truck at the (GLENWOOD) location because of a past balance that was owed, under my WIFE's name. Finally, after been told that we wouldn't be able to rent a truck from (GLENWOOD) by an associate, store manager, and area or (whatever) we drove to the Calumet city location and got a truck with no problem. That was picked up at 11 am and returned by 4 pm the same day. To the Calumet City staff,

The rep(Brandon?) was wonderful. I will not recommend this location until more people are hired and Brandon is not working alone. His patience and level of care was phenomenal, but it was darken by the very long wait. He attempted to check in a very long line on the 1st of the month by himself. Nor to UHaul until you improve on your system. This new system is horrible. I attempted to check out several time. I stood in the parking lot with about 5 other customers attempting to coach each other through the process. Neither of us were able to get through it. Getting through to a CR rep over the phone was a blank mission. Once I got a human, I was the put on hold for another 15 to speak to a tech. I never got them. I tried the online chat. The system froze 3 different times. Great people. Horrible system.

The lone cashier was overworked. He was the only one working. He was professional and courteous as he could be but he shouldn't have been there alone. The line was slow and he should have had help!

My utility dolly was not in the truck as I ordered, so I think all equipment ordered should be there. I didn't have it for my move and I didn't have time to return to the store. I'm not sure if I was credited yet.

Joe was the best! He made my moving experience hassle free! With such a frustrating an busy day everytime I encountered Joe he made me smile I absolutely love him what a man!! Very courteous, considerate an overall freaking awesome!!! As long as I can encounter Joe I wont dare go to another location!!! Joe You Rock BIG TIME!!!!

Staff seem very disorganized, took 30 min just to get the keys to the truck I registered for and the guy that was helping seems to be under the influence of something. Wasn't a good experience at all.

The gentleman at the front desk could be a little more engaging. Customers shouldn't have the feeling that the person taking care of them doesn't want to be there. Also, the return procedure leaves a lot to be desired. I think it should be routinely tested by company employees to ensure efficiency.

I stood in line way too long waiting to get the trailer that was already reserved online . Only one person at the location knew how to work the system and five customers stood waiting . When i returned the trailer the guy wasn’t friendly and seemed to have an attitude . I’ll go back to Markham,Illinois (Canterbury) where i feel appreciated .

I was very satisfied with the great customer service I was provided by Mr. Brandon I was expecting to have a bad experience based upon the negative reviews online. I was definitely accommodated in a timely fashion, was approached upon entering in a professional manner, and was also “ Thanked for my Patience “ My trip to pick my son up from college was Satisfactory!!! i had a reservation for 8:00 am. They called me at 7:15 am and said the truck wouldn't be there till 10:30. This caused me to lose 2 of my movers because of the delay. What's the point of having a reservation if the truck isn't going to be there? Not to thrilled about moving and then to have it set back by 2 1/2 hours was unacceptable.

I honestly Am Beyond happy Home Depot rented the truck I reserved out. Because the costumer service was amazing at UHAUL. I’m moving in May so I’m definitely coming back. Rates/ pay and contract was explained so well!

Well, the young man handling the check out was not very welcoming and sort of rude. You can tell that he isn’t a people person and needs more experience when dealing with the public in a business setting, He didn’t offer an alternative until we asked. Just not very welcoming and or engaging with customers.

During the process of my move...I had to extens my rental. I returned the truck an hour after closing, I was not instructed to do a self check in and was charged for an additional day. When i asked about this I was told that is how Uhaul does it. I have used other locations and done after hours drops and was never charged. When I spoke to the customer service person letting them know that I was not near the location and could I possibly make it to the rental location they told me I could not take the truck to a closer location. I let them know I was going to possibly be late. No one told me to do a self check in and they called to verify that I was turning the truck in on Sunday. I won't be moving again and I won't be recommending this Uhaul location to assist anyone I know.
