I WAS MOVING that morning. After being on hold for over an hour, someone in Nashville found a van available at Austin peay and reserved it for me. I was told by the mendenhall store that I would get a 50 dollar credit. No one at Austin peay knew anything about it. I'm grateful I was able to move. Worse experience moving I've ever had

Antwanette J.Upon Arrivingto pick up trailer The staff at this location did not care that anybody was there one guy was standing out in the parking lot talking to friends coming to pick up trailer the girl behind the counter first off you couldn't understand anything she was saying and second of all she was on her phone talking to friends as she's trying to check out the trailer. Finally make it through that horrible experience go out to get trailer hooked up first or she couldn't find the trailer because she was too busy on her phone talking to her friends and the guy was still standing outside talking to his friends once we finally found the trailer she hooked it up she apparently has no clue how to hook up chains or a trailer she wrapped the chains around the ball of the trailer because they were a little longer she was very rude about everything in the trailer was not clean worst experience I have had renting from U-Haul in over the last month and a half I rented quite a bit from U-Haul very very disappointed

Doug S.Before the pickup , during was not good. After dropping off I had good service from the evening crew. Before when I had reserved a 26ft truck from Summer location in Memphis, I got a call a few days before saying they overbooked and I can get a 17ft truck and 50% off the fee from another location. Then 1 day before the move I get another call saying they overbooked & I'm getting a 15ft truck. After having my fiance pass away I really did not need this added stress. I had to move all his belongings and took me 2 different trips with the 17ft truck. Also, when I picked the truck up it smelled like smoke, I went back in the store & I was assured I would not be charged. Also, I was not told about the message sent to me for self check on the truck. (I was not paying attention to messages day of move...Had i been told to do the self check then I would have) I had taken a picture of the gas gage (almost empty) and returned the truck with more than it had in it to begin with... (I put $45 in gas in the truck). After dropping off right at 7pm closing time, the evening crew was nice enough to receive the truck. Needless to say I am not sure I will use UHAUL again like i have in the past & just because of my experiences before and day of move. Besides that I have 4 mattress covers I did not end up using and needing to return them still... I was told I could return at any uhaul location - which i do hope is still correct, given that the uhaul on Austin Pea in Memphis i went to is far away from where I live. I think it was inexperience and hopefully not laziness but when the lights didn't work they said "you're good" and went back inside. They gave me a trailer for which the tongue was clearly bent as well. When I had problems with the trailer outside Bristol TN I had to stay overnight to go to the Bristol store to get the lights working again and Bristol pointed out the bent tongue and said it was dangerous and replaced the trailer.

NIKKI J.They opened late. Guy rolls up in a car that smelled like weed. His coworker showed up even later. Between the two of them it was just a long line of confusion. I had a reservation. Truck wasn't there. Got a van. Two workers couldn't put tit together that the van couldn't tow the trailer I reserved. After waiting an hour and half and getting into the same line three times they gave me a 26 foot long truck with 172k miles to go 300 miles trip. So expensive gas and higher mileage fee. As i walked out they still had charged me for the trailer I could see behind me. So at least they refunded me after I walked in a fourth time. They did charge me silly and blanket fees even though they weren't in the truck. Everyone who got a trailer hooked it up themselves, which was weird. I basically paid too much to go miles I was paying too much for in a truck that got maybe 10 miles a gallon. I hate this place and hope a sinkhole opens up beneath it - swallowing these high employees.

I came back on Fri 1/14 and the access card did not work. My daughter went to inquire and was told the account was closed out that morning. I just paid for the unit only 1 week ago so there was no reason the account should have been closed. I received this email about a move out even though I have only just got the unit.

Nicholas M.The saving grace for this location is Derrick Williamson. I spoke to him on Wednesday 1/5 and reserved an 8x10x10 unit for Friday 1/7. When I arrive I am told that there is no 8x10x10 unit available. I was offered a 5x10 or 10x10 even though I had a reservation. I asked if U-haul would honor the reservation price of $79 for a 10x10, but I was told no. I was upset, but Derrick Williamson was amazing. He worked hard to try and find an 8x10 unit and has extremely kind and helpful. Ultimately I have a 10x10 unit for $99 a month which is $20 more than I budgeted to pay. However when given a bitter pill to swallow, kind, helpful employees like Derrick Williamson make it easier. I would only recommend this facility to a friend because of Derrick Williamson. Otherwise my answer to that question would have been no.

I explained I was frustrated bc I had a time with the truck and wanted the storage to be better. She was extremely dismissive and made me call corporate to try and get a bigger storage unit. The size of the truck they attempted to give me was not big enough. Then I get to the storage facility after driving 7 hours to learn the unit is a hallway with a door. My church member bought the 2nd unit bc I was told you didn't combine units and there were no bigger ones available except in a bad neighborhood. I didn't yell or act ugly and the lady just didn't seem like she wanted to help me resolve the issue. I also asked her to check to make sure I didn't get over charged. She stated once I turned in the truck she would be able to see my contract. I did and she gave me a receipt with $0.00 on it and said defer to the original one. I'm asking because I have no idea where it is. I just moved my life to another state in less than 2 days.

The lady at the front desk was helpful. When I first got to my unit it was at the very back of the building with a large open area and the lights did not turn on. There was a lock on the unit, I thought "oh a lock comes with it"… I buzzed for the young lady and asked if she had the key for my lock… she replied "oh so this ain't your lock? Is this your unit? I showed her my confirmation text and she apparently called another coworker or friend on her personal cell and asked if someone was coming in today and the person on the phone said "nah she not coming in today she works tomorrow" the young lady asked the person on the phone if the girl was coming to get her stuff and the person on the phone said "she was supposed to get it yesterday but she didn't feel like moving it then she said she was coming today. The young lady informed the person on the phone that I was there and ready to move in and the person on the phone said just tell the lady to just come back tomorrow or we will call her when it's ready." The young lady turned to me and before she could repeat what the person said on the phone I asked if they had another unit and she said no, but you can come back tomorrow and hopefully she will have her stuff out. Needless to say that wasn't an option with 2 trucks full of stuff in the rain!!!! I had to call all around the Memphis area and unfortunately was not able to find the size I needed and ended wasting gas, time, energy, and a lot more money.

I paid on the 24 of July 89.00 and moved out on the 29, therefore I should have been reimbursed for some money. Another time Uhaul sent notice that if I paid before the due date my charge would not go up the additional $5.00, I paid immediately but of course I still had to pay additional money.

I also don't understand that I can make a reservation for equipment on line and then check in at the desk and find out that there is no equipment available even though I reserved it. Instead of evicting that person from the unit or taking the things out, I was forced to pay more for another larger unit. I reserved my unit 3 weeks in advance. I almost didn't get another unit, as there weren't many options. By luck, the larger unit was found. Even though I reserved my unit 3 weeks in advance, I was almost turned away with all my belongings. Luckily the workers were kind about it, but this was not my fault and it felt like I was being punished for someone's inability to do their job.
